What are your goals as an aspiring manga creator and why? :)

Manga to me is a beautiful and extremely flexible medium, so I
chose it over all other storytelling mediums. My goal is to
become a professional within Japan, and has been for 5 years.
What is yours?

Almost the exact same goal you have but I can settle for a
novelist in the Us and just maybe my own animator.
I never wanted to become a manga artist until Death Note. It was
clever and felt like a novel when I watched it. That and another
family member of mine loves manga.

I'm just getting a story or two out of my head. As the big
current one started as an anime parody at the request of an
artist friend (it turned out for all his talent he couldn't do
the style) manga seemed the perfect fit.
As it is, it will be a novel and I'm converting the shot
descriptions to text. I can't afford to have it drawn it the
proper style so I will eventually purchase cover art and a few
full pages to scatter through the book.
In general I like the medium but I also like film and text. I'm
not big on sock puppets so as a medium, that is out for me.

I didn't study art and I just do stuff for a hobby. I don't
envision myself working on manga or anything related with that
field.
Goal or "Wishful Thinking" (to be precise) as a hobbyist is to
produce a long-time running webcomic or at least get known as
someone who knows a little bit of everything.

I am American, although I don't feel American. lol if that makes
sense. I don't share the American culture. Just go ahead and
call me an Earthling.
As I said, I'm not Japanese, which creates a bit of a
predicament for me to make manga. Also I can't draw very well.
So why do I want to make a manga? Because I love anime, I love
japanese games, I love the art styles, and I love the stories.
Oh, and because I don't care. lol I'll do what I want to do, and
that is to make a fabulously epic story.
I am dedicated to my story, it's the only thing I want out of
life. Is that bad? I don't care about having a relationship with
a girl, I don't care about school. All I care about are my
friends, my free time, and my imagination that I want to share
with the world. I plan to have a large retirement plan when I'm
old and well... retired. I would use all of that money to make
my story. lol Then it wouldn't matter where I come from xD But
really, what good is all that money going to do me otherwise.

I suppose instead of answering this as a mangaka, I'll answer as
an artist.
I want my audience to feel something, or to experience a story
that I tell. To me, art is simply an extension of the human
method of communication. Some themes that come up a lot in my
art are passion and individuality. Sometimes I'll create a work
based on a theme and personify it, since I mostly draw people
instead of places or things. I choose people because subtle
things like body language and facial expression can convey a
clear meaning instantly when done correctly.
As for why...I suppose you could say that when I was younger, I
wasn't quite as articulate, and many children my age
misunderstood me. Often times, they would be deaf to any of my
suggestions. Now that I have found a way to be heard, I suppose
that's the how and why in and of itself, really. Perhaps it's
loneliness, or perhaps it's the utmost sympathy that causes me
to reach out and share my experiences, my thoughts, and my
feelings in this way.

Well, manga artists do require some creativity, and I love the
comedic element of that. I might even read it. Based on your
other posts I've seen, it looks more to me like your goal is to
get people to laugh in general. Things are kind of quiet around
here, so I can't say that I blame you.

Just like everyone else of their day, most pirates and mariners
couldn't swim. That is why walking the plank was terrifying.
There were also weird beliefs about how you shouldn't bath, so
that is why lots of people didn't want to learn to swim.
