       Well to me ... no.
There is no such thing as 'free' stuff - everything has a price
to pay, if it does not involve money. That's one of my few motto
       I follow for life.
       How about you?

I don't have a specific motto in life. I personally live by the
time of "aesthetics is paramount" which may sound contradictory
for someone who prefers good story telling over amazing art. I
can write a whole essay on why I follow this but I mainly use it
when it comes to something not involving pieces of writing.

Of course there is free stuff. A friend stopped into town after
I hadn't seen him for years. I gave him a set of New Rocks, a
hat that another friend said he'd shoot off my head if he ever
saw me wearing it again, and a lighter he could burn himself
with (It is plasma). I expected nothing in return and may never
       see him again.
And there there is the bad person option. If you steal it it is
free. If you never get caught there is never a price, it was
free (I'm not going to go into social impacts of outlier
behavior as OP sounds like they mean it on an individual level).
