More hate on SAO

Getting into indie game development myself I've been studying
the theory behind what actually makes games fun to play. While
normally I'm listening to developers like those behind the
youtube channel "Extra Credits" I found this bit about why SAO
and the other games featured in the series are bad games. While
SAO was an amazing success monetarily as a manga and anime for
reasons beyond the actual story, this is a true testament to how
proper research can do wonders on a story with integrity.

Granted creative license is what normally blurs the lines
between an MMORPG story than a story with an MMORPG story.
Dot-hack is definitely a series that didn't explain it's story
however looked completely playable.
SAO says it's an MMORPG but nothing about the game itself males
sense. What it does try to explain there are big holes.

A few typos in there but I think I know what you mean. After
watching the video some of that made no sense.
I think SAO may be trying to be the most run down MMORPG out
there. But I can't get into the fact that there are more than
one MMORPG and each one less interesting than the last.

I think really just playing an MMORPG would help. The video
basically says it.

Or making a survey and research helps just as much as getting
into it .

i agree, i do believe creative license is great. but a lot of
people play MMO for different reasons. But this game just
doesn't succeed in being playable. SAO is just going nowhere
really as a story and as a story about MMORPGs.
i do believe that video is just a bit too harsh, but i agree
with the majority of it. SAO is a game that wants to focus on
the MMORPG aspects and the more it focuses on it, the more its
difficult to believe SAO could ever exist.
