Making Webtoons

Anyone here interested in the vertical digital format for
comics?
What's a good site to host your webtoons? (ex: Tapastic
HTML https://tapastic.com/,
Line Webtoon
HTML http://www.webtoons.com/,
etc) Pros & cons?

I don't know what it is about Web comics, but they never grabbed
my attention. Maybe it's because Facebook blows up my feed with
webtoons.
I prefer reading comics that are supposed to be read printed.

I hate Internet based comics. A lot of what I read never has a
cut off point so you could be reading and never finding when it
ends.

It doesn't bother me.
It "ends" when I grew tired of it.
The only thing that bothers me is if it's classified as a
product of a weeaboo.

Most webtoons I read were american. And I can't stop reading
something until I got tired. And if I did, that's a bad sign
because I stop reading for that reason, picking it up again is
even harder. There's no progression nothing to stop and think
about what you read. It's all continuous.

I detest scrolling-long pages with vast amount of "unused"
spaces in-between panels , particularly manhwas . Other than
that , I'd still (try to) read it , if I do stumble upon one .
I can't contribute to sites that do host webtoons because I
don't look for them (rather read the old-school scans and hard
copies) .

I hate those long empty spaces too. Some are abusively repeating
the same panels with just a little modification to produce a
page/panel.
Anyway, just asking since some sites have different file limits
and stuff.
Some are abusively repeating the same panels with just a
little modification to produce a page/panel.
And that too . There are times that a number of the webtoon
pages can easily be compressed into a single manga page (Will
get to this later on) .
If Tapastic allows webtoons , I'm very sure a lot of other
webcomic sites would do so . I regularly browse Smackjeeves ,
maybe they allow it there and they have no such file limit and
sizes , at least from what I see .
Here comes my opinion on webtoons I've read so far (Rant ON ...
Powered by Work-Stress Battery)
------------------
I've wiki'ed out for research purpose . 'Fluidity' ? If this is
the kind of fluidity most webtoons are trying to archive , then
it's not because this has a fluidity that of Mauna Kea's lava
flow . I wonder if the people who does webtoons know of the
basics of pictorial storytelling ...
Just like you said , duplicates that had little to no difference
between them , that screams laziness . Even the smallest of time
gap between the two panels does not bear similarity that are
100% similar - small changes in gesture , expression ,
atmosphere , action , etc. , you name it , all of that can
happen even if there's a second gap in-between the two panels .
Now , this is when I absolutely detest the lengthy white spaces
in-between the two panels . They are so long that it gives off
an impression that they're not putting more effort in drawing
more panels (an excuse) or filling the blanks with something ...
even just something unnecessary . The blank spaces in-between
the panels counts as a panel too - longer white spaces means
longer time gap where absolutely nothing interesting and
important happens in-between the two panels (of course , don't
create pages after pages of blank canvases , please) .
Apparently , most of these webtoons don't understand the
importance of it .
And when I mention that a portion webtoon pages (the way it is)
can be easily compressed into a single manga page , I wasn't
lying . To give you a perspective of the time length a chapter
of webtoon is compared to typical manga when being turned into
film series for one episode , an average manga would be between
10-30 minutes in length , depending on the amount of dialogues ,
scene and character actions and time displacement in-between
panels . Webtoons are at most half of that , sometimes even
lesser than that , to as little as 2 minutes , a sub-chapter
manga length . This means you'll spend far less time on the very
same panel and/or page in webtoons as opposed to manga , which
means lesser opportunity for immersion to develop simply because
you're going to flip pages quicker than you can blink (Most
webtoons I've read so far had done that) . The fact that I have
to do a LOT of scrolling down with lengthy white spaces
in-between just to view ONE panel at a time does exactly that -
it kills my mood to be engrossed in them .
Since webtoons are 100% digital and most of the time in color ,
why is it that I'm not seeing any form of effort on their part
in making it artistically appealing ? I mean , the format and
execution itself is done without any sort of effort in making it
'immersive' , it's okay to half-baked on the artistic department
as well , especially when it's more time-saving doing things
digitally as opposed to traditionally ? I've seen graphic novels
from Japan and Hong Kong/China and western comics done in full
color (or not) on a canvas far more smaller than webtoons and
does it with spectacular finish , why can't you do it , webtoons
?
--------------------
Not that I'm berating webtoon as a "lazy" version of manga .
It's a kind of format I personally (many others would too) love
to get into due to it's lack of limitations and high degree of
expressive and creative freedom . It's this lack of limitation
and freedom that when it comes to showcasing your artistic and
creative prowess , the sky's the limit . However , the main
problem that I'm pointing my fingers at lies in those who does
webtoons and produces works that still cannot even rival the
comic juggernauts that are the Japanese Mangas and Western
Comics (and on certain occasions , even Chinese Manhuas) but
thinks that they do .
Basically , webtoons are still filled with amateurs , thus it's
bad rep and low public expectation .
Still though , if anyone's interested in making a webtoon , feel
free to do so . But bear in mind that expectations are very high
for it's kind .
EDIT : Here you go , comes with pros and cons
HTML http://koreanwebtoons.wikia.com/wiki/Webtoon
(Which confirms my
suspicions of the kind of people who does webtoons currently)

There are webtoons that I find artistically appealing. They may
not be as flashy and godlike as how Japanese artists do them,
but some webtoons do look amazing but just a handful. Not all
mangas done by pro mangakas look appealing too anyway. Also,
like what the cons listed on the link you provided, majority of
webtoon artists only work alone or with minimum help at all and
has to follow deadlines thus, half-baked/unfinished pages happen
and yes they get published just like that.
---
To re-rail the topic.
I'm actually looking for pros/cons, site experiences on webtoon
hosting sites. Not the webtoon format itself in general. I may
try doing webtoons in the future that's why I mentioned it
specifically.
