Thoughts on Bleach
By: Lumaria Date: August 19, 2016, 8:06 pm

BLEACH has finally ended (or so I believe) and now that it's
over we can finally have a definitive opinion on it. What are
your thoughts on Bleach?
Personally. I still hate it. It ended decently. But that ending
could've been used after the defeat of Aizen. So although I
don't mind it, I don't think it was well developed either.
It dragged on for so long and for nothing. It didn't need to be
this long. We didn't need a quincy arc or even a Fullbringer
arc.
I have so much to say about how bad the manga is but I'm glad
it's been put out of its misery.

If something is bad or good we should be able to discuss it and
find out why so we can improve and develop our eyes.
There's so much to say on what Bleach did wrong, what it did
right. for me it's mostly wrong but I'm too busy to write an
entire essay on what makes Bleach bad.

I read through all that myself but doesn't cover any of the
specifics that made Bleach fatally flawed.

Just to be clear. Although I do think weekly manga has never
been the same since the big 3 in a negative way. I don't think
all of the big 3 were complete trash. And I do think they were
at one point really well written.
But with that said, Bleach makes more sins than any other manga
out there. And if not analyze bleach, we should at least analyze
Kubo and his method of writing.

I don't understand why Bleach was so horrible. Title Kubo must
have known he was just using the same flaws. But back then
Shonen was big. I don't know why it has become so horrible now.
If someone has a theory let us know.

The question is was Bleach ever really good in the first place?
I wasn't into Bleach until it reached in the US in anime form.
So most of the weird Shonen art waslost. The anime gave it
mature feel. I only started reading the manga version when I
didn't have cable. But by then the art was closer to the anime.
Regardless, the series allowed each character to have a unique
ability and that was a great idea. This modern setting, funny
characters (such as Kon) were also popular as well.
But the series began to recycle so much and didn't expand on the
characters or make them relatable. And worst of all Kubo hinted
there was an answer to everything and there wasnt. Gin ichimaru
who appeared to be obvious villain #1, actually was a good guy
in the end. But Kubo killed him off and then hinted there was a
secret behind what he saw what they did to ring ringaku in their
childhood that was going to be important later on.
It were those small talk hints that Kubo was aware and addressed
to fans that made fans defend him early on and saying he knew
what he was doing. But I don't think we can.
Kubo knows how to write good action, Kubo knows how to make
interesting concepts and build onto them. But did he knew how to
make a good story? Or was he ever really good in the first
place?
One piece is a very slow start, I never enjoyed it and I can't
speak for it. But Naruto was a slow start too and grew to be
better. It wasn't amazing or the greatest manga out there, but
for what it was it was really good.
Let me also remind people Shonen jump was different back then.
More serious mangas were coming from Shonen Jump. Things such as
Death Note and Bakuman were vastly popular. It was a sign that
Shonen jump was being more versatile.
But that's no excuse for the writing that we see in bleach.

Not that I don't mind long series , it's just that it's a common
trap all authors will encounter (and most will fall into) where
the longer it goes , the flatter and more ridiculous it becomes
. All stories needs to end , whether you like it or not - that's
life and the Big 3 (or 4 , counting in Fairy Tail) are the
biggest culprit at not ending it when it should be . This is why
I don't bother even begin reading them at all as I'm extremely
sure that they're (whoever it is , including the authors
themselves) just milking the franchise dry after passing the 200
mark .
