Tigers killing huge male wild boars
By: The Solo hunter Date: September 23, 2018, 5:05 am
---------------------------------------------------------
In this thread i'm gonna post all the accounts of tiger killing
adult male wild boars without hesitation. With video
evidences,etc...
Not only will I prove that tigers will easily attack and kill
the LARGEST adult male boars, without hesitation, but i'm also
gonna show that even FEMALE TIGERS AND YOUNG JUVENILE CUBS,
attack and kill huge mature male boars with no problems.
First i'm gonna start off with the tigers prowess over the
worlds largest, most aggressive and strongest wild boar species,
the formidable Russian wild boar. Large male Russian boars can
easily exceed 300kgs in weight and can have 12 inch tusks, and
their built like tanks:

Here's an account of a young, adolescent tiger that crushed a
LARGE MALE Russian boar in a fight:

Another young, small adolescent tiger that completely
annihilated and tore apart a very large Russian boar in a fight.

was killed by a young, adolescent male tiger:

“Recently we have been to one of the mountain ridges of Anyuisky
National Park. While studying three spots we found the remains
of a large male wild boar proving Uporny’s effective hunt. The
size of his victims discovered during the field checks testifies
that he easily hunts on large ungulates,” comments Alexey
Kostyrya, senior researcher at the Institute of Biology and
Soil, the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Science.

Another report of the account:
HTML https://www.dvnovosti.ru/khab/2015/10/22/41252/
Here's an account from John Vaillants book, of a tiger that
defeated a GIGANTIC, EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE ROGUE MALE BOAR in a
fight:
"Khomenko expressed interest in tiger tracks, the watchman said
he had heard some kind of a fight in the woods the previous
night. He thought the tiger might have had a run-in with a huge
wild boar that he had been seeing around the camp. Ussurian
boars grow to enormous sizes, some weighing in excess of 500
pounds, they usually travel in herds, but this one was strangely
solitary. It was so big that the watchman had given it a
nickname: GAZ-66, after a large, virtually unstoppable military
truck that is often used in forest work. Its tusks were massive,
and the watchman had figured the tiger had met its match..."
"Within a few hundred yards of the logging camp, Khomenko had
come upon the site of the battle reported by the watchman, only
there was no sign of the rogue boar. The only tracks were those
of the tigers. Most likely they had been fighting over
territory. Khomenko had studied the scene, found the two sets of
exit tracks, and followed the bloody ones."....
"Lev Khomenko saw or sensed the tiger in time to take off his
gloves and lay them neatly on the snow. With his hands free for
shooting, he turned toward the tigers hiding place, stepping
from side to side as if searching for a clean sightline. By the
time he brought his rifle to his shoulder, the tiger was already
charging."....
"Apparently, Khomenko maintained his composure because he
emptied the barrels individually rather than together. Both
shots hit their mark but had absolutely no effect; the tiger
came on in a blur of twelve-foot leaps and swatted Khomenko in
the face with its paw, knocking him to the ground. Then the
tiger picked him up in its jaws. Khomenko was carrying a canvas
rucksack, and it was clear from the shredded axe handle sticking
out of it that this was how the tiger lifted him. The tiger then
proceeded to shake Khomenko like a rag-doll - so violently that
it broke his wrists and both his legs."
HTML https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=WGvVohmSYXcC&pg=PT55&lpg=PT55&dq=male+ussurian+boar&source=bl&ots=mHvDdkRz7g&sig=59Z7L-gHma_fKjaS6eet8Lf8qF0&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjW9MmE1fnbAhUqDMAKHWcTC4UQ6AEIYTAO#v=onepage&q=male%20ussurian%20boar&f=false
The rogue male boar was described to be a giant and enormous in
size with massive tusks, and the tiger either killed the giant
boar, or severely mauled it and driven it out of the area, as
the boar was nowhere to be seen the next day, where as the tiger
remained and went on to kill a man. (Khomenko).
Thats 4 legit accounts of young, juvenile tigers completely
destroying and tearing apart gigantic male Russian boars, and
even a tiger defeating an exceptionally large, giant rogue male
Russian boar with huge tusks.
Here's more blatant proof that tigers viciously pursue and chase
to kill massive, mature male boars. Go to 29:45 in the video. A
tiger is chasing a HUGE mature male Russian boar with large
tusks and the boar is running for its life:
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DG3EohgQx4
Go to 23:40 in this documentary. It mentions how the tigress
named 'Katya' EASILY takes down and kills 500 pound Wild boar,
twice her own weight:
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-VYPdO-IXk
Here's a video of a fierce fight between a TIGRESS and a big
male Russian boar. Watch how the tigress easily evades the boars
charges and tusks, with her supreme agility. Then watch at 1:30
in the video, the tigress secures a death-grip on the big boars
head, which the boar couldn't shake off, and then was clearly
destined to be tiger food from there:
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdlsWdoXau0
Its a well known fact that wild boars are one of the top
favoured prey of tigers. Not only adult male tigers, but young
sub-adults, juveniles and female tigers all hunt and kill the
largest male boars without hesitation, fact.
Its also a well known fact that a single tiger will follow an
entire Wild boar herd, and systematically kill off one after the
other until the entire herd has been completely vanquished. And
then it will move onto another herd to do the same thing:
"Having tracked an animal, a tiger will not run long after its
quarry. The only exception is the wild boar, which a tiger
chases with tenacity; the predator will systematically kill one
after the other, until the entire herd has been destroyed.
Subsequently, it will set off to find a new herd. Hunters refer
to this method of tiger hunting as "grazing" the pigs"....

Ussuri wild boar (Russian boar) is the largest species of boar
on earth, and the tiger has a great 54% success rate at hunting
them:

60% of Russian wild Boars killed by Tigers are adults ( 50% of
those being male/50% female ):

Ussuri Brown bears also hunt wild boars, but only the small
females and young piglets are taken. They avoid the large
formidable male boars, which only the tiger hunts and kills. In
fact, there's not a single case on record of a Brown bear ever
killing a large male Russian boar, not one! Boars have even
killed bears too:

The only predator of the large, mature male tusker Ussurian
boars, is the TIGER, which goes after them relentlessly.
Now to the Indian Wild boar. Well known for its legendary
tenacity, fierceness, strength and aggression. Just like the
Russian boar, tigers will ROUTINELY hunt and kill the largest
male Indian boars also, with no problems. Even young, juvenile
tiger cubs attack and kill large full-grown male boars.
"Leopards did not kill wild pig, and dhole rarely killed it, but
tigers readily killed large adult boars, which live alone"
(Johnsingh 1983):

o/tiger-leopard.htm
These large adult boars that tigers readily killed, are only the
huge mature male tusker boars, which are solitary.
In Chitwan, tigers kill 500 pound Wild boar; Tigers went out of
their way to take the LARGER Wild boar:

Tiger kills a big male wild boar in a head-on fight: ( Page 9 )
"I was being poled up the river Muar, and just as we were
rounding a bend we spied a big boar crossing a sand spit on his
way to drink. My boatmen quickly allowed the boat to drift into
a clump of tall rushes where we were fairly well concealed, and
as I was putting my rifle together I saw the boar suddenly turn
around and face the jungle, and in the next instant a tiger
walked out. It is difficult to describe what happened next - so
quick were the movements on the part of both animals. They both
charged and it looked as though they must meet with great force;
but such speed was displayed in leaps and side steps that the
result, in what seemed a second of time, was that they were
facing one another again twenty feet apart, and the boar still
with his back to the river. The same movements were repeated
three or four times but I think the tiger must have done damage
each time as the boar appeared to be weakening. The end came
when the boar made a rush. With one movement the tiger side
stepped and leapt on its back and was dragged like this into the
jungle, where shortly the dying gasps of the pig told me that
all was over."..

Indian Princes and Royal Tigers:
Dr, Julie E. Hughes, Assistant Professor of History, Vassar
College.
"Mewari princes trapped wild boar near Machhla Magra hill and
staged fights between them and captive tigers in the nearby
arena attached to the Khas Odi hunting palace and shooting
tower. An undated painted sculpture of a tiger and boar fight in
Dudh Talai park on the slopes of Machhla Magra, Udaipur, seems
to commemorate this local history. In addition to the tiger,
Rajput princes greatly admired wild boar for what they
considered the species' great strength, endurance and pugnacity.
Out of twenty-eight known animal fights at Khas Odi between 1884
and 1912, almost half pitted wild boar against a tiger, and
another 18% substituted a leopard for the tiger. Very few of
these fights featured no tiger, leopard or wild boar at all"..
HTML http://animalhistorymuseum.org/exhibitsandevents/online-gallery/gallery-8-animals-and-empire/enter-gallery-8/i-imperial-species/tigers/
Here's the painted sculpture depicting a tiger killing a Wild
boar from the Dudh Talai park:
HTML http://animalhistorymuseum.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Fig-10-Hughes.jpg
So as you can clearly see, in the Indian staged arena fights
between captive tigers and wild boars from the wild, the tiger
dominated and killed the boars, and thats why the statue which
depicts the history of those pitted fights, shows a tiger
killing the boar.
"The large male boar with its heavy body and protective tusks
has always been regarded as difficult prey for tiger and leopard
alike. But from my field observations I have never encountered a
situation where the tiger avoided a confrontation with a boar.
In fact our records document two tiger kills of MALE BOARS. I
have never found a leopard with a boar kill and have no
observations of this predator and the boar, but old etchings do
show combat between the two. Very rarely did the leopard win a
fight with a large boar" ( Tiger expert, Valmik Thapar)...
HTML https://i.imgur.com/AwnS3EU.png
Note: This was from Thapar's book "Tiger, portrait of a
predator" which was from his field observations in 1983. Since
then, Thapar has observed and documented many more instances of
tigers killing large male boars.
Here's a picture from the same book, of a tiger that
over-powered and killed a large male tusker boar:

Now, clear video footages will show that even female tigers and
young juvenile cubs, attack and kill large full-grown mature
male boars, even in frontal assaults!!

Thats a small tigress cub that frontal attacked a large
full-grown male boar, over-powered it and killed and ate it. All
these accounts and videos i showed, consisted of FEMALE TIGERS,
YOUNG JUVENILES AND CUBS destroying and annihilating large male
boars with no problems. So imagine what the much larger,
stronger and more formidable adult male tiger can do!!
Whether its in face to face fights or predations, even young
juvenile tiger cubs and females attack and kill the largest,
strongest male boars out there and succeed in killing them with
no problems. Tigers routinely hunt and kill the largest male
Russian boars and Indian boars, fact.
All you, who say "tigers avoid large mature male boars" are
clearly cracked out of your heads, period. Because i've shown
multiple clear-cut video footages and legit accounts of young
juvenile tiger cubs destroying and literally tearing apart HUGE
mature male Russian boars, twice their own size!! That says it
all.

YOUNG ADOLESCENT TIGER KILLS AND DEVOURS A VERY LARGE RUSSIAN
WILD BOAR:
Instead of waiting in the JAO for more clusters to develop, we
decided to move to the Amurskaya Oblast to assist our team that
was already checking clusters of the three tigers there. Nikolai
Rybin (Wildlife Conservation Society), Alexander Lazurenko
(Special Inspection Tiger) and staff of the Amurskii Wildlife
Department had remained after they release of Kuzya, Borya, and
Ilona, and had already been monitoring them for nearly a month.
In that time they had found multiple kills made by Ilona,
including an adult roe deer and multiple young wild boars. She
seemed to be adapting extremely well. Although they had not
found any kills of Borya, examination of scats revealed that he
had been successful in killing and eating wild boar. But we were
worried about Kuzya, who had moved through an extremely remote
region (making it nearly impossible to check on him) but perhaps
more importantly, there were no large clusters of locations
indicating that he had made a successful kill. Kuzya had settled
down in a very small area for several days, and when he finally
left, and we were able to examine that site, we were all relived
to find only bits and pieces of a very large wild boar. Kuzya
had made his first significant kill!...
We stayed in the Amurskaya Oblast for several more days,
receiving daily locations of all five tigers and checking on the
status of each as opportunities to arose. During that time we
were able to identify a few more kills of wild boar by Kuzya.
