Mallard FC vs Shotton Officials

Right lads, as Dan said, defeated today but defo some positives
to take from the game. Played against a tough side and they
showed why they are the league above us. Lets talk about the
positives and try work on our weaknesses in training on Tuesday
and bounce back with a win on Sunday.
Player by player positives,in my opinion.
Burnzy- Couldnt do much with some of their goals, they finished
them when asked so he cant be blamed there.
Great save for the penalty showing composure and kept his cool.
I also think his playing the ball out to the left and right back
was also working well for us,it meant we could build up the
passing and work our way up the field. Im sure elvesys goal
started this way.
Sinky- Sinky grafted the whole game and i felt sorry for him on
occasion because it looked to me as though they where doubling
up on him and he couldnt do much about that, but solid as ever
and had a decent game.
Lee and Paul- Not much i can say about Lee,played his usual game
which is faultless and showed how important he is to the team.
First good game for paul, looked good when passing the ball out
and looked solid in tackles, worked well together with lee.
Anth Moo- Loved getting forward and played a typical wing back
role well, looked for anth all the time and linked up well down
the right hand side.
Leon and Hally- Hally took some stick before the game but its
all good banter and hally knows that,he went onto the pitch and
did what he had to do,got past a few players down the left as he
normally does. Leon came on and looked lively and added a bit
pace down the left, linked up with sinky and managed to get an
assist for me with a good cross in,seemed to labour near the end
though and fitness came into play in my opinion.
Elvesy- My man of the match, seems to be a brilliant signing from
the off, i felt confident that he had control of the middle of
the pitch and i felt i could make a run and he would be able to
pick me out with trough balls which is going to be a massive
thing this season and i can see him not only grabbing a bag full
of assist that way but a few goals aswell as he took his header
very well from a good ball in from dan,hit it down and across
the keeper.excellent game mate keep it up and grey, paul and
jacka and robbo have a place to worry about.
Robbo- Grafted his arse off trying to prove he should be in the
team, made a few good passes and did well overall.
Dan- Again grafted all game and ran himself into the ground for
the team as always, lost his cool a bit but that was
understandable, but gained his composure i didnt dwell on it
like alot of people would.great game overall as usual.
Anth- Linked up well with moo and always looked to pop the ball
in behind or up the wing, looked comftable in that position but
then again i think you can put him anywhere i you know your
going to get graft form anth.
Kev and Tilla- Felt sorry for tilla, because its hard for one
forward but he did what he could and held ball up as best he
could at times. Kev came on and showed some energy, great
poachers goal and took his oppertunity.
Sorry if ive missed anyone out but defo some positives and keep
heads up for next week lads,
Would love to hear other peoples opinions and get some crack
going lads.
Cheers,cya tuesday :)

considering there was a whole new look to the team today with
atleast a good handfull of what last season would have been 1st
team players missing and the standard of the team we played i
agree theres plenty of positives to be taken. At times we were
to slow to get stuck in to tackles and there were parts of the
game where closing down didnt happen at all but its abit harsh
to try and pick negatives, was a decent enough start to
pre-season today and everyone played there part so well done
lads. As for individual performances
Burns - shot stopping as usual was good and a great save from
the penalty, i think as a team we could benifit from some free
kick drills at training because we seem to get caught out at
times when it comes to setting up walls to offer the protection
burnsey needs.
Darnell - solid as usual has really impressed since he signed
could make this position his own this season
Lee/Paul - lee played his usual game plenty of graft and not
shying out of a tackle, Paul impressed me today kept it simple
and didnt put a foot wrong.
Sinky - was my mom in the first half and kept grafting 2nd half
but i agree they did seem to double up on him 2nd half and he
coped with that as best he could
Anth - looked lively with plenty of running up and down the wing
showed again he is a great utility man for the team
Robbo/Dan/Elvis - robbo did as much running as he could and put
plenty of graft in but against a team as good as these today it
was always an uphill task playing here for anyone, Dan again
plenty of graft and showed us again how commited he is by nearly
boiling over and wrestling with shrek, but kept his cool in the
end and put in a solid performance getting a decent assist for
morph. Elvis have to say he was mom today looked quality in the
opening half hour getting about and running through them for
fun, looks like he can pick a pass aswell so will be expecting
plenty of assists from him, also he took his goal very well.
(but andy i dont worry about places i just make sure dan doesnt
have an excuse to drop me by playing it simple and giving better
head than most ;) haha)
Hally/Leon - hally played well, linking up with sinky as always
and looked to get past his defender whenever he could did all
that could be asked of him. Leon considering he couldnt see when
he was on the sideline he did well when he came on and even got
an assist for his troubles.
Tills/Kev/Andy - tills plenty of running and showed again how
good his first touch is, i think he held back a little though
and i know he will bring alot more to the rest of pre-season,
kev came on and scored cant ask for more, a poachers goal but
eather way carrying on his good form from training. Andy i
missed your goal mate but still well done for getting on the
score sheet, made some great runs and looked lively when u came
on.
I think thats everyone and it was a piss on writing all that so
i doubt there will be many replies to this haha but be decent
crack to see what the lads playing thought of the game today.

i agree with you jacka on the free kick drills, when i was
shouting out what i wanted, i.e how many players, and order. i
wanted 5 solid line , with the tallest in middle and to jump. i
got 4 , short guys who stood firm , so it was a simple chip into
the goal. but thats what friendlys are for.
overall a real hard game for our first outing today, and im
sure if we had some of the regulars from last season we would
have benifited a bit better, but i still think they were a
different class.
overall everyone played a part, few lucky goals, penalty save,
kev and andy and jon jo scoring, just get on with it and get
ready for friendly number 2, im sure theres more to come from us
and im still reasonably happy with todays game, even tho we
lost.

First half I thought we were good but we weren't supporting
Tills enough so he didn't have much to work with.
Second half we still did alright but were sloppy at times as
well.
Was impressed with Paul and Elvesy, they had solid debuts and
Andy did well when he came on.
Still got a way to go before we're at our best but we shouldn't
be too down about the result, there were some positives and
after a few more games we should be ready for the season.
Plus if the two sicknotes come back that'll give us a big boost.

i think theres some hard work ahead like we looked well of the
pace, shape was abysimal at times composure on the ball wasnt up
to scratch
but...
it's only a friendly and the result isnt important it's about
gaining fitness and trying things all about preperation for the
new season which am sure we will get it right
personally i was still fucked, thought i done okish for been
still mortal but am gunna really take this season seriously and
improve on for me what was a shite season last year, am much
better but more importantly we improve as a team!
