- Fridays Game -

right lads as you all know we have our biggest game since, er
.... the mallard fc was formed , but unfortunatelly we have a
huge squad and dan is only allowed to pick 11 starters plus 5
subs. so that does mean people will be getting dropped.
so, on that note , heres the chance to start a bit crack about
it, im not trying to start arguments or contraversy because
thats not the kind of guy i am but, who would your starting 11
plus 5 subs be ( but if a argumental disscusion does come from
it then great),
each player must have a individual reason as to why they are
picked,
this just might give people an insight as to what dan has got to
try and do on friday, and if your not selected and you try
picking a team on here yourself it might help you understand a
bit more.
p.s, i really hope gray is available for this game as i think
hes been imence all season and would be a huge blow not to have
him available, im sure he could be a sideline assistant and play
some kind of role if unavailable, ..

Goalkeeper- Burnzy- Because hes the only keeper we have.
Right back- Jimbob- Been an outstanding signing for us this
season and is a massive voice at the back,i would say he plays
like a captain every game and keeps everyone right.
Centre backs- Harsh on Ian because hes been outstanding all
season but i would put Lee and Zander there,Lee and Zander are
both very composed on the ball and there is no nonsense from
either of them and both solid playing together,not that ian isnt
i just think Lee and Zander seem to have a connection.
Left back- Hard working and cant fault him on anything hes done
since joining us,hes sharp becoming my favorite for the left
back position.
Right Mid- Works hard all game and has come into the team
showing what a class footballer he is,in my opinion he is the
most techniqually gifted footballer we have in the team.
Centre Mid- Grey and Paul- Im hoping grey will be fit, I think
these two have been the stable of midfield all season and think
it would be silly to change that now,Pauls passing game is
excellent when he doesnt try the extravigant and Grey showed
today how much he likes to get stuck in and fight for the team,a
real battler and a great captain.
Left Mid- Hally- Because i like his little vest he wears under
his kit and his tribal tattoo :)
Forwards- Dan and Anth- Dan speaks for itself and i think even
though tilla grabbed MOTM today :) Anth showed real quality and
great composure grabbing 2 goals and i think he could be a real
threat up there and i was really impressed with him today,well
done mate.
You will notice that i have played 442 and i think that is the
way we should go at this game,they didnt have massive quality in
midfield and we wont get overun and the 2 up top given us plenty
of graft and running to trouble them at the back which we really
didnt do playing with just the one forward last time.

Am absolutely itching for this game to come around
We haven't hit top form yet this year but we are still picking
up wins and I think sooner or later with all the chances we
create we will give a team a good hiding.
As for picking a side for Friday, not an enviable task at the
best of times and a few players on the fringes have really
picked up there game over the last few weeks so have to be
seriously considered
For what it's worth my XI would be
GK Burnsy- Even if we had more than one keeper he is still for
me the best in the league
CB Lee - Good footballing centre half,always shows composure and
defensive awareness, links the play and is a threat going
forward
CB Zander - Good positionally, loves a tackle and good in the
air. Solid all season
RB Jimbob - As good going forward as defensively, links well
with the right midfield, good in the air and has a great strike
on him going forward and for set pieces. Talks a lot which is
good to have in there.
LB - Sinky - Proper left back. Loves a tackle never shirks, puts
his head in and links well with the left midfield .
CM - Me -
CM Gray - If fit - Wins everything in the air, likes to get he
ball down and play football. Big goal scoring threat and gives
110% every game
RM- Dotty - Great touch, can pick a pass from nowhere and a
threat on goal in open play and from set pieces, links up well
with RB and likes to play football the right way
LM - Hally - Naturally very gifted, can pick a pass and has a
good eye for goal. Not afraid to put in a shift
CM/AM- Anth - Best player in the last few weeks and will give
everything for the team. Never gives the opponents a minute and
is a threat going forward. Good in the air and likes a tackle.
Will be a key position in the final as needs to be the link
between Attackers and midfield but I know Anth will relish the
responsibility
CF- Dan- At his best is absolutely unplayable. Great finisher,
good in the air, likes a tackle and gives 110%
Subs
Macca - If Gray is not fit then he is the natural replacement ,
can play anywhere, good in the air and knows where the goal is
Tilla - After his performances in the last month deserves the
spot, deserved a goal yesterday but that will come
Kev - Always a threat , pace is scary and has a good strike on
him
Matty- Technically gifted, good delivery and can pick a pass
Leon - Great left foot, good in the air, good delivery from set
pieces and has a good strike on goal
I would start this game 4-5-1
Have Gibson against the last man and get the ball into his feet
as often as possible, if they double up on him then this makes
space for the midfield runners, we can shift to 4-4-2 if need be
We need to have more confidence in our ability to play football
. The pitch should be perfect for us to get the ball down and
use the space, use the wings and get the ball in the box. We
will create chances , so just more composure is needed in front
of goal and the goals will come
No need to say how big this game is, and nobody should need a
lift to be ready
This game is there for the taking, we are good enough at our
best to beat anybody. So let's play with no fear, we have
nothing to lose, we are the underdogs. Let's go out there and
show them just how good we are
Come on lads, days like these don't come around that often,
let's make the most of it

Totally agree with Paul's selection - it gives us a solid back
four and a hard working midfield which we'll need and leaves us
with plenty options on the bench.
If we graft, stop them playing in midfield and support Dan as
much as possible, we can win this.

i would go all out for the final and throw everything we can at
them because judging on the last game they didnt look like they
had much in the middle of the park at all so i would go at it
with a 4-4-2 formation. Depending on who is and who isnt fit
this game and the selections for it will be the most difficult
for dan but that goes without saying when he can only have a
squad of 16 so whoever is left out i am sure they will
understand the difficulty of the situation and be there to
support the 11 lads on the pitch and whoever goes on to impact
it from the bench. With all that said i would pick my team based
on players who are in form at the minute making my team
Burnsey
Jimbob Zander Lee or Ian Sinky
Dotty Paul Gray Hally
Anth Dan
bench -
Kev
Matty
Leon
Macca
Tills
Burns - best keeper in the league would be lost without him
Jimbob - if anth hadnt played a blinder in a more forward role
sunday i might of put him here as he has covered for jimbob and
played brilliantly here but he scored two crackers and jimbobs
build up play and how he links up with dotty has been a real
bonus this season looks the part everytime he plays
Zander - without jumping the gun i would say its pretty safe to
say he is the most improved player of the season started well
and has grown in confidence week in week out
Ian or Lee - if ians fit he has to come back in for this game
has been solid every game he has played and links up with zander
brilliant, if ians not fit then lee is perfect cover has came
back from injury and slotted straight back into the team like he
has never been away always composed and never shys away from a
tackle
Sinky - harsh on leon but sinky has been in top form last few
weeks or else probs would be leon playing here but like i said
sinky has really has shown us what he is capable of and has
started to look more like the player he can be
Dotty - his form this season is what has kept matty out of the
team, brilliant on the ball, great passer and again his link up
play with jimbob has been a constant threat this year
Paul - missed him in the semi of the last cup against these, he
has that bit class that the likes of gray and me lack in the
middle of the park, if he gets into the game early he could have
a real impact on the result
Gray - it will take more than a poorly nose to keep him out for
friday so i fully expect him to play and if he continues his
form from recent games he is another player who will have a big
impact on this game, really stepped up this season and has lead
by example week after week
Hally - again have to say leon could of stole this spot aswell
but hallys assists this year are what have swayed me to pick
him, leading on assists and has added that extra bite in his
game to get into tackles and track back, not afraid to shoot and
can pick out a pass aswell
Anth - player in form at the minute everything he does results
in praise and it is more than deserved has covered for people
out injured and has looked like a different player in recent
weeks so well done mate
Dan - do i even need to kiss his arse and say hes top scorer and
what not? ha i dont need to but he deserves as much praise as
anyone in the team for being as consistant with his goals this
year as he has been, expect to see him amongst it again on
friday and hopefully the chances will fall to him to lead us to
a first trophy
subs
Kev - if anth didnt score two on sunday i would of played kev
and dan because of kevs pace and finishing ability but a great
option from the bench aswell
Matty - like i mentioned only dottys form has kept matty out
because i rate him very highly on the list of attacking players
we have
Leon - again another player i wanted to put in my team at eather
lb or lm but only the form of the other two lads swayed me in
there favour but again a cracking option to bring on always a
threat and a left foot that can cause real trouble
Macca - sick note the 2nd ha only reason he didnt get in my
final team is because apart from me he has missed the most games
with silly injuries which we have both talked about and agreed
they have damaged his season, but what a sub to have bundles of
energy and a constant threat going forward and always reliable
when needed at the back
Tills - hard decision to make with rossi robbo and andy all
deserving of a spot aswell but tills form when he has played
recently gives him the nod from me can hold the ball up and on
sunday showed he can do a job supplying whoever is up top with
him so a great option to bring on
sorry to anyone i left out but i dont envy dan at all come
friday, good luck lads gutted i wont be playing with yous but im
sure everyone will be up for it and put 100% percent into the
game :D
p.s cheers andy i know paul and gray are good but the "stable of
midfield all season" i was in there with them for long periods
of it aswell mate haha
