Todays game.

So lads seen as though I've been working today I would like an
alan hanson\gary lineker type update on todays game from
yas,good parts and bad parts please :) thanks

got beat 3 - 1 .
first goal....... ball came over , jim left it for me . we both
slided in for it, there player slid in aswell, and the ball
rolled away , i got on all fours to pounce on it, then their
player used my back to get up and pushed me down to the ground,
and slotted it in. shuda been a free kick, no doubts.
second goal ....... ball got played through, jim tracked this
guy in and did a superb tackle to win the ball, but the ref
gave a penalty., one of the tackles of the season for me,
third goal .......... ball came over, grey headed it, think it
took a slight deflection, but not sure.
fourth goal, ........ we pushed macca up from defence then went
3 at the back, and basicly it was just a counter attack and
scored.
we hit the bar, had a few penalty appeals turned away and think
we fought very well, they were rather a dirty side in midfield,
tbf.
dotty came off for kev,
paul came off for anth,
dont think we made a third sub, it was freezing, icy sleet was
coming down, as dan calls it .. and windy.
wasnt a bad peformance and think we had a lot of bad luck with
the ref, but we did have plenty chances we didnt put away...
the dressing room was small with a small heater above it, and a
light switch, i think there was about 30 coat pegs, and a dust
bin.

first half we got bullied and created a bit made the keeper work
getting balls in dangerous areas and stuff then second half we
competed better but we hardlys had a sniff really infront of
goal no killer pass our general play was good around their box
but just nee cutting edge to it hence why i tried some outragous
shooting towards the end

sorry lads, i must admit today i think was the worst I have
played all season :( my final ball was awful and I couldnt find
the net.. if i put some of my chances away we probs could have
won the game, but hopefully thats my bad one for the season and
look forward to the times next week :)
we could still be number 2 over the xmas period though so head
up lads :)

I think we need to look at the game in perspective
Yes we lost, but we were by far the better team, we played some
really good football at times and Burnsy had relatively very
little to do.
Looking at their goals
1. A foul on Burnsy, yes maybe the ball could have been cleared
but if it wasn't for the foul Burnsy would have collected it
quite easily
2. Never a penalty, not in a million years
3. We had gone all out attack and got caught on the break
I think we created quite a lot, there were a few cleared off the
line, we hit the bar and there keeper had a few saves to make,
as I said I thought we always looked like we were going to score
on another day we would have won by a few
If we take anything from this defeat it should be showing the
fight that they had
We were better than them in every area but at times they wanted
it that little bit more
But we need to look at it in perspective lads.
It was our first defeat in 8 league games. We haven't suddenly
become a bad team over night. We have two extremely winnable
games before Christmas, we could start January in two semi
finals and in the top four in the league.
That to me is a very successful first half of the season added
to the fact that we have a very good squad of lads all fighting
for a place all who whether or not picked come and support the
team, the banter is awesome and the confidence levels should be
sky high
Let's not forget how far we have come and not let one loss
affect us any more than it needs to
Personally It has spurred me on so if it can get an old guy like
me inspired to improve then god knows the effect it will have on
you youngsters

We didn't play bad at all al agree Paul but i think we could of
done that little bit more second half...we had shots but they
were pretty much straight at the keeper, there was loads of good
passing around the box just lacked a cutting edge, we were
scoring quite freely a couple of weeks ago, i know them games
were against poorer teams but i think it's better 4-4-2 get's
the best out of players like Hally who has more influence in
central areas.
We are still in a good position in the league with loads of
points still left to play for.

451 is our best formation I think. It let's Jakka do what he
does best without hurting our shape. He can hunt balls down and
fight for us letting Paul and Grey do there thing. 442 ends up
being 451 as dan comes deep. The weather had a big influence
Sunday. when we play the poorer teams we do really well 442
because it's eaiser. The fact we can play both formations is a
positive though. Also 451 is 433 if the wingers work hard enough
:)
