Team Statement From Dan & Macca
By: biggibbo Date: September 3, 2011, 1:21 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
arite lads, due to the incident last week on facebook regarding
a discussion between lads, we have decided to issue a statement
with regards to the issues brought up in that discusion as well
as other things we have heard or seen first hand from the lads
on the team. Everybody should know by now how we work but as
questions have been asked and issues have been raised by doing
this everyone will be on the same wave length. I speak my mind
at all times and if you ask me an honest question ul get an
honest answer, and the contents of the statement will be true
and exactly how we feel with regards to everything so you'll
have to take it whichever way you like basically.
Personal Performance:
Everyone has an opinion and everyone has the right to say
whatever they want about themselves or anyone else in the team.
But this has to be done in the correct manner, promoting
yourself or bringing others down to justify your own selection
will only make it less likely you will be picked. When we
started the team the whole concept was to keep the big headed
mouthy arses out that everyone knows you get in most teams and
provide a team who get on n have a laugh as well as perform on
the pitch and in training. A lot of people have improved over
time and yes may be putting in good perfomances, perhaps even
better than they have previously in some cases but that doesnt
guarentee a team place as you mite not be as good as the lads
around you in your position. If you think you played class last
week for example but you werent pick this week, then you didnt
play well enough to cement a position in the team, simple as
that. Its not being unfair its simply the way football is. Just
because you say you had a good game last week doesnt mean that
you did also. Many people have higher opinions of themselves
whether or not its deserved, and all your doing is setting
yourself up for disapointment. Nobody on the team is untouchable
whether they think it or not, bt the quality in the squad is
much higher now you wont find rotation as much because of this.
Myself, if i THINK ive have a good game i dont brag, if people
compliment me then thats the satisfaction, and on the other hand
if i have a bad game then i can criticise myself because that
different. Everyone should take this appraoch as it is
professional and doesnt give anyone a perception of high self
opinion. So if you are thinking you have played class and nobody
comments on it in convo then maybe you havnt played as well as
you think and vice versa. The best way to get into the team is
to wait for your chance (which will come) work hard in training
and impress on the pitch, basically let your football do the
talking and prove that you should be selected
Favourtism:
There is no favouritism whatsoever in the team selection, or in
the team as a whole. The team is picked on the morning of the
game with a rough idea of whats it going to be and both myself
and macca have full influence on the team. So if i think someone
should be in and macca doesnt or vice versa we discuss it then
look at other options. Its exactly the same this year as it was
last year and will always be the same,we field our best
availbale 11and this is based on positions, performances,
training, form, injurys and opposition (i.e. more physical
opposition requires more physical players). All this whilst
trying to give everyone a chance to prove themselves and rotate
best we can. We dont play by the motto: "cant change a winning
side"
because definatly you can. If that was the case then players on
the fringes would never get a chance to break into the squad if
we went on n won a string of games. Just because we won a game
doesnt mean every player in the team played well, we may have
had a good team perfomance but end of the day you have to work
hard as an individual because that is what we look at. If
someone doesnt play well in a winning team, then there is a
chance they could be dropped to give someone else a chance n
again thats football. so its down to you to work as hard as you
can to leave us thinking you have to be considered.
Team Selection:
With regards to team selection ya cant talk ya way into the
team. Team selection is based on performances only. We can see
how well ya played as we were there so we dont need you to tell
us. So, telling us how good you are wont get you into the team
(anybody can say "i played class")
We are a team lads at the end of the day and we need to work as
a team and get behind every player on the pitch regardless
whether your on the pitch, on the side or not in the team that
week. There's too much criticism on the sidelines and people
pouncing on mistakes, support the players and encourage them.
Team players are much more likely to make the team and if people
stand out as being constantly negative they will be told by me,
and if it continued id just cut them from team completly, this
extreme case isnt going on bt im merely pointing out in all for
the welfare of the team, i love all the lads to bits and will
help you in anyway, but dont get on the wrong side by slagging
me off behind me back, any problems come to me and ill take
anything said on the chin but prepare for the same honesty back
good or bad.
This is how we pick our team and its only natural that people
will agree with some of the points and disagree with others but
this is not going to change. Il give you a quick example, if we
focused our selcections only on rotation then players who are
geting a lot of game time wudnt be bcos it wud jst be rotated
regardless, some lads havnt bin on the pitch in the league yet
this season and havnt said a word. All things dont go unnoticed.
If you are unhappy with the way the team is picked or the way we
run things then nobody is forcing you to stop here. If you think
that you can get first team football elsewhere i wudnt stand in
your way, id support your decision and encourage anyone who
wants to do this. But i guarentee that you wont find a manager
as fair as me, some lads who have underperformed last season
have still had support from me when i know other teams wouldnt
have. in this team you can work hard and be rewarded were as
other teams the first team is picked reagrdless bcos its all
favorites, with me its not like that n never will be.
choice is yours lads, this is way things have always been n
always will be
big kisses dan n macca ;) xx

I thought id have a cheeky say on this erm i know im one of the
worst ones for shouting like fuck when were doing rubbish but
believe it or not its to try and make the team realise whats
happened to us compared to first game of the season granted
ashdown were shit but still a team non the less and when your
part of the team playing mint flowing football like we did on
that day and then you come down to the past couple of games its
pretty heartbreaking realising we have so much to offer as a
football team and were just not showing it so what im trying to
say lads is my little huffs on the pitch although is quite off
putting i mean the best at heart i just hate to see a good team
not play the way they can cheers bitches xxxxx ;)
