Challenge FOUR
Blind Scrap or Scrapping Blind :
Create a 12x12 Scrapbooking layout following the instructions
given below.
Keep in mind that, like the page map challenge its your
interpretation of the instructions.
Half the fun of this challenge is seeing what we all come up
with OR how badly I give instructions!! haha Could go either
way!
Note : All measurements are in inches!
What products you will need :
1 sheet of 12x12 Cardstock – for the background.
Assorted papperned papers
simple embellishemnts –
I have just fussy cut images from my papers and used a small
amount of
wood flourish/ chipboard.
Double sided tape.
What tools :
12” cutter or your preferred Scrapbooking cutter
A ruler if you want more than just apprimate measurements
Edge Distressor or something to roughen the paper edges.
Instructions :
1. Use a sheet of 12x12 cardstock as your background. It will
almost all be covered by patterned paper. Take a sheet of
patterned paper, I used a solid coloured piece which coordinated
with the other patterned papers in a collection (Scraps from my
August Scrapbooking workshop!). Cut the solid piece down to
5”x12”. Carefully tear the bottom edge of the short side (5”
side), I just tore all along – about a ½” strip exposing the
white paper core. Roughly curl the torn edge so it does not sit
flat. Adhere this piece of patterned paper to the top of your
cardstock background – ONLY add tape to the top and sides, we
need to side the next layer underneath to create overlap.
2.Cut another sheet of patterned paper, this time l used a
coorindating floral piece. Cut 7 ¼”x12” and attach approximately
½” from the bottom. The top of your sheet will slide under the
solid paper added previously. I then had a border strip of
another contrasting paper that I have also added, sliding
underneath the top sheet. The torn edge of the top sheet should
over hang onto the border sheet which you just added.
3.I have used a photo which has been cropped (Canon selfie
print) it is approx 5 ¾”x4”. I have added a photo mat which is
the same colour as the Cardstock I used for my background. The
photo mat is 4¼”x6¼”. Before adding the photo l cut and added
two blocks of different patterned paper. The first block is
5¼”x6” and l have distressed the edges. The second block is
smaller and it is 4½”x6” and no distressing.
4.Assemble the blocks, the largest going down first, adhere the
first one to the top left hand corner of your layout, approx 1”
from the top and 1½” from the left side edge. The second block
over laps but is more left side orientated, approx 1¼” from the
top of the page and approx ¾” from the left side edge. Balance
your matted photo on top of the two blocks.
5.I have added a banner which is tucked between the two blocks.
The banner is 2”x3” and it hangs approx 1” in from the bottom
left corner of the photo.
6.The Layout title sits half on the banner and a small circle
cut from my patterned paper that I tucked under the banner and
blocks. Helps make my chipboard title more visible.
7.Embellishments – I added a small strip of scalloped pattern
paper of a darker colour under the photo and it sits over the
top of the banner. I have fussy cut some flowers and leaves and
tucked them in along the right hand edge of my photo along with
a wooden butterfly, creating a cluster along that edge.
I also added a tab which was cut from my papers and I added it
along the top of my photo – top left with another hand cut
circle of centre behind it.
I have created a visual triangle with my tile and embellies.
8.Done! Good Luck :)
