So I managed to ring up the 250 VIP points necessary to play in
this event today. I was able to get the majority of the points
needed by playing $0.02/$0.04 ring Omaha H/L, so anyone who
thinks you can't make VIP status at Aced Poker
HTML http://www.aced.com/_VXI8dnY2nN4Gu8t3BXHzdWNd7ZgqdRLk/1/
by
playing penny games, let me tell you that you thought wrong.
The tourney was mainly what I expected. 2,700+ players had
registered by the time late reg closed at the first break. There
were so many players who had registered earlier in the month and
then forgot about the game that a good half of the field were
sitouts. Another good quarter of the field played like monkeys
playing Bingo, so chipping up early was relatively easy. Because
of the sheer number of sitouts and players who played wild
enough to bust themselves out early, the field dropped down to
under 500 very quickly. It happened so fast that even some of
the luckier sitouts who managed to win a handful of their forced
all-ins managed to finish ITM.
I hung in there for quite a while before finally busting out in
the top 5%, earning myself an $11 tournament coupon. That may
not be a big deal for most, but for a guy playing off of a
starting bankroll of $21.02, I'm freakin' stoked. I will be
using the $11 coupon I won to enter into the Poker Maximus Micro
Main Event on February 17th at 5:00PM. My bankroll management
strategy and my current bankroll restrict the tournament level I
am allowed to enter. With the cheapest Poker Maximus Event this
season being set at $11, which is still way out of my price
range, this ticket equals a rare opportunity to play in a big
event that I otherwise would have to miss.
Hopefully this $11 will lead to a big finish in the Poker
Maximus MME and lend a huge boost to my bankroll.
Below are the tweets I posted on my Twitter account as I was
playing if you're interested in the meat of how it went down.
You'll want to read from bottom to top to see it in the order it
happened:

Ended my run super shortstacked JdTd < Ac7c. No help on the
board. Still finished in the top 5% of the field. Not a bad day
at the tables :)
50m @JayFarted
HTML https://twitter.com/JayFarted
Blinded down < 6K w/ blinds at 600/1200. Doubled up then pulled
a couple of steals to chip up over 16K.

I need some card warmers.... my deck is freezing its balls off.

We're currently ITM at the 2nd break. 107 players away from the
next money level. I'm resting in the middle of the field with
14K+ in chips.
2h @JayFarted

Called a min raise from position w/ J9. Flopped 2 more 9s. Ended
with a nice pot and chipped up to over 13K.
2h @JayFarted

Flopped set of deuces puts me up around 11K in chips. Showdown =
2s full of sixes > king-high flush.
2h @JayFarted

Semi-bluffed a flush draw from the BB. Hit the flush on the
turn. Value bet turn and river. Up over 9K.
3h @JayFarted

Making all my chips from the BB. 5To. Board= 55KQ. Bad guy
shoves allin on the turn w/ KT & I'm up over 7K.

Woke up to 68 off. An early min raise brought enough action to
get me pot odds. Flopped 579 and ended up all-in vs 2 players.
+4500 in chips
