Chapter 5 of SRS discusses if the designated hitter increases
offense in the MLB. After comparing and reviewing means, we can
conclude that we do not enough evidence to be convinced that the
American League has a greater ability to score runs as teams in
the National League. Random chances including stadium factors
and pitchers are some reasons in why we cannot conclude that the
designated hitter increases offense in the MLB.

Does the designated hitter increase offense in the MLB? It would
make sense for the AL to benefit off of a designated hitter and
it shows that they score more than the NL. But it states that
performance is part ability and part random chance. After a
simulation of 100 trials any team could outscore by random
chance.

Chapter 12 of Mathletics talks about the "platoon effect".
Platooning is when a batter that hits with the opposite hand
than the pitcher throws with. Right handed batters do better
against left handed pitchers and left handed hitters do better
against right handed pitchers. Chapter 5 of SRS talks about
whether the designated hitter increases offense or not. There is
not enough evidence to prove that AL teams have a better ability
than NL teams to score runs. If data was taken from more than
one season there might be more significant evidence.

The Platoon effect is that a left hand hitter hits better when
facing a right hand pitcher rather than a left hand hitter.
What I found interesting was that 37% of major league hitters
are left handed and only about 10% of people in the USA are left
handed. This means that if someone is a left handed hitter,
they have more chances of going to mlb than a right handed
hitter.

In Mathletics, it is statistically proven that the "Platoon
Effect" is...effective. Left handed batters perform better than
right handed batters when facing right handed pitchers, and vice
versa. Most of the world is right handed, as well as in the MLB,
which is why players who's dominate side is their left are
valued a little more. They have a greater advantage.

In SRS chapter 5, it is debated whether or not a designated
hitter increases offensive production. The American League on
average, scored more runs than the National League. This means
their performance was better. However, it does NOT mean their
ability is better.

The platoon affect is the difference between how a hitter hits
when facing two different types of matchups. These matchups are
the handiness of batter vs the handiness of a pitcher. The
matchups between a left-handed batter vs a left-handed pitcher
is usually worse than the matchup between a left-handed batter
vs right-handed batter. The same goes vice-versa. The average
OBP of a hitter goes up when he faces a pitcher of the opposite
handiness. This causes managers to use a platoon strategy in
which they have two players of opposite handiness that play the
same position and only play against pitchers of the opposite
handiness.

Unfortunately over the break my Fantasy team didn't do much
Kneecap Killing. We took an L against the Krusty Krew after our
players severely underperformed and unfortunately Cooper Kupp
was injured while I was starting him. Well see you again in the
playoffs. Manteca Kneecap Killaz.

This week we lost to Krusty Krew by 3 points. Aaron Rodgers was
on a bi week so that hurt us a lot since him and Todd Gurley are
our top scores. Matt Brieda scored -.5 points. I usually talk
to my mentor on who to start but I forgot since we had no school
last week. I believe we would have won if I talked to him.
