       This is the thread where you post about the readings in
       Mathletics and SRS.  You are required to post at least once per
       day.  Anything beyond that is extra.

       I found Bill James's Baseball Pythagorean Theorem to be
       especially interesting. Being able to calculate win percentage
       based on simple statistics is pretty cool. The little degree of
       difficulty, being less than 10%, makes it all the more
       impressive.

       Bill James, who was credited with creating the Baseball
       Pythagorean Theorem, is able to predict a team's win percentage.
       The distance that the estimated win percentage is away from the
       actual win percentage is an absolute value, which can then be
       statistically represented as MAD, or Mean Average Deviation.
       This is the average of the absolute values.

       Runs Created is a very useful stat that can be used to evaluate
       two players and distinguish a superior. Although it can at times
       be misleading, when used properly it can be invaluable to owners
       and front office personnel.

       The Runs Created statistic offers a different approach to
       analyzing more than one set of numbers. When you first compare
       Ichiro and Nomar's stats, it's clear that Ichiro had a better
       season. However, when using the runs created statistic, it
       suggests that Ichiro's season wasn't as better as it first
       seemed.

       Pages 3-5 of our book, Mathletics is about how you could use
       "Baseball's Pythagorean Theorem" to estimate a teams winning
       percentage. the formula for to estimate a teams winning
       percentage is runs scored squared divided by runs scored squared
       plus runs allowed squared. after you find your answer, you will
       then find the absolute error.

       Chapter two in our book Mathletics is about comparing the
       statistical seasons of Ichiro Suzuki in 2004 and Nomar
       Garciaparra in 1997. The book uses stats like slugging
       percentage which takes in to account the total bases they've
       gotten from hits and walks. In this stat Nomar won by a
       considerable amount. Another big stat this chapter used was runs
       created per game. In this stat Ichiro beat Nomar, It is
       estimated that a team consisting of nine Ichiro's would  score
       about 8 runs a game.

       chapter two was about Ichiro's. Nomar's statistics and comparing
       the two.
       SRS was about using different kinds of charts to organize your
       data. Ability, performance, and random chance are all important
       variables that you need to account for.

       An example of law of large numbers is during game three of the
       2018 NBA Finals, Stephen Curry shot 1 for 10 from the three
       point line. In this game Curry shot 10 percent from three, but
       his average percentage from three that season was 42 percent. In
       a small sample size it looked like he wasn't a great shooter,
       but when you look at the body of work he is arguably the
       greatest shooter in NBA history.

       The Runs-Created Approach shows more statistical relevance than
       the usual batting average. The Runs-Created Approach adds more
       key statistics to its formula such as the number of games' worth
       of outs and extra-base hits. This formula is still being used in
       modern baseball.
