       ---------------------------------------------------------
Gun fire echoed through the hallways of the building, men and
women in suits ran towards the stairs and elevators while
injured people were dragged back up the hallway by people in
white jackets, some with simple shot wounds, other’s being
dragged back either missing a limb, or their life. “Damn it what
is the situation down there?” Garvel kicked a small chair across
the hallway as Isha cowered behind a desk, two men in black
suits stood before him, one with a small pistol in his hands,
the other with a large rifle like weapon. “Who the hell would be
dumb enough to try and break in by force?!” Garvel shouted once
again, hoping some sort of answer would come back to him, but
still the two men stayed quite, they had no need to speak and
more to the point, no answer to give.
Isha slowly began to creep out from under the desk, every time a
gunshot went off she jumped slightly and jittered back but still
she crept out, she aimed as if slowly trying to reach Garvel, as
if he would be a source of comfort for her but even though he
could see her slowly trying to creep to him, he made no effort
to move to her. “Damn it! Is there no response?” Garvel stared
at the two men before him hoping one would reply, but once more
they only returned cold empty stares. Moment’s passed before the
one with the pistol turned around and looked to the elevator at
the end of the corridor. “The power went off… and then someone
fired a shot down the hallway… Everyone began to fire back but
before anyone knew it, people were dying and the targets
couldn’t be seen…” The man spoke as if listening to a message
before slowly reaching for his right ear and turning to look at
Garvel. “Who ever they are, they have control of the first 4
floors and their working their way higher… We don’t have many
people left who can fight…” The man stared for a moment and then
turned back to the elevator before running off, before Garvel
could speak to the man to find out where he was going, he had
taken the corner, and was running down the stairs, his footsteps
       slowly fading into the background.
“Damn it!” Garvel looked at the other man who continued to stare
blankely. “Are you not going as well then?” He waited for a
reply, but the man still stood there, he waited, not listening
to Garvel nor wanting to have to deal with him. Once more Garvel
swung out to kick something, but this time as he kicked he felt
the limp movement of someone, and a soft yelp of pain. As he
looked down Isha clutched her arm, he had kicked her straight in
the side of it, and as he watched her he saw the way her arm
bent outwards, this situation was getting to him, and now
through pure anger he had kicked out and broken someone’s arm
       for no reason.
“Isha are you ok?” He began to kneel down but before he could
reach out for her he felt a cold steel grasp on his throat, and
then without warning he was thrown off his feet, his back
cracking against the thick oak door they had positioned
themselves near before slowly he slumped to the floor. Before
him Victus was kneeling beside Isha, one of his arms wrapped
around her, his other taking out a bandage for her arm, yet
before him stood a giant of sorts, his body covered is dark
steel armour, his eye’s glowing in the dim light. “Eisen…”
Garvel groaned as he began to stand up only to have the large
steel hand grab him by the roof of his head and lift him to his
feet. “You damn speak my name after you kick her!!” Eisen’s
voice was bitter and hateful, his grasp of Garvel’s head slowly
growing tighter causing him to slowly writhe in pain, trying to
       squirm free of Eisen’s grip.
“Eisen let him go, he sure as hell wouldn’t kick her out of his
own free will, he probably didn’t even realise she was there!”
Victus shouted down to Eisen, his words were more commanding
than ever before, and before anyone could respond he added more
to his short speech. “Besides you think with all that’s going
on, we should be killing our own men! We need all the man power
       we’ve got!”
With that said Eisen released Garvel and watched him slump to
the floor before turning back to Victus. “You dare think that
who ever it is down there has a chance once they reach this
floor?” Eisen spoke confident words but the tone of his voice
said otherwise, he began to stride so he would be between the
elevator and Victus. “They may be prepared to fire upon flesh,
but steel is beyond them!” He cried out in rage, he wanted to
see his foes, he wanted to see them panic and turn tail… he
       wanted to kill them.
“I think their prepared to kill pretty much anything they come
across, and I think their pretty well prepared to die trying,
considering no one was reported a single one of them dead yet,
and no one knows who they are…. Yet every few minutes one of our
guys is reported as being another piece for the compost heap!”
Victus stood up lifting Isha in his arms, his voice was as
confident as Eisen’s but his tone of voice still held the
       confidence.
Slowly he walked over to Garvel and placed Isha on his lap.
“Tale care of her and make sure not to break any more bones!”
Turning back to look at Eisen he sighed softly. “C’mon man..
we’re not going to survive in this corridor… let’s go to the
office… we have room to move and plan!” Victus then turned and
pushed the oak door to enter the large office room, he took a
seat where he normally would and began to wait. Behind him
Garvel walked in carrying Isha, he sat down softly and laid her
in front of him only to be follwed by the man with the rifle and
Eisen, the oak door then softly closed behind them and silence
took the room, sound rarely breached the walls of this room, and
so they waited for what any normal man would class as the end of
       the world.
