Sci-Fi story in work. Read but do not steal - Not open for

“Don’t let him get away!” The voices cried as a group of five
men charged down the small white corridor of the office
building, in front of them was a slim man wearing dark red
clothes running for his life, under his right harm was a small
black brief case, and just in front of him two large glass
doors.
“Damn it! Don’t let him get out of the building!” One man cried
before taking out a large hand gun, it’s barrel turning slightly
before it fired but due to the fact he was running and the way
the man in front moved, the bullet skimmed past him and hit the
glass panel, a small orange glow pausing for a moment before the
glass cracked and shattered allowing the man to charge through
the open space and out into the rain, behind him burst 3 men,
one with the gun and two other’s who threw open the doors,
before chasing him into the rain, then came the fourth man who
stopped suddenly under the small metal shelter outside the door
and stared as the small group continued to run, behind him was
another man, exhausted from running, almost collapsed at the
door. “Why did you stop?!”
The man gasped for breath before looking at the man, only to see
him casually lights a cigarette and turn around to flash a quick
smile. “Because the rain messes with my hair?” He laughed before
leaning on the frame of the door, while the other man stood up
straight and stared at him, his hands clenching into fists.
“That ain’t no reason! You think the boss is gonna be ok with
yo..” Before he could continue the cigarette was forced into his
open mouth burning the roof of his mouth. “Look kid, you want to
criticize me? Then get back to running and catch the guy!
Otherwise keep ya mouth shut and just deal with the fact that it
doesn’t take 5 people to catch one stupid brat! Cap’iche?”
The man fell to the floor coughing horridly, small splatters of
blood his the floor along with small slithers of burnt flesh.
“Damn it! Just you wait!”
A few hours later the office building was quiet, no one dared to
speak as everyone waited for the large black doors to the main
office to open, while inside sat four people, all dressed in
smart black suits, three of them sitting at the far wall, a
small table in front of each one.
One of the men with dark blonde hair, looking down at his lap,
his eye’s shaking lightly, another man sipping at water
constantly as he tried to get rid of the taste of burning in his
mouth, the last, of the three men, dark red hair and dark blue
tattoo’s covered his face while in his hand he played with a
cigarette as he waited for the meeting to end so he could get
his fix of tobacco.
On the other side of the room, sat a tall well built man, his
hair now grey but his face still showing pure youth, yet his
eye’s differed in colour and size, his left small and brown
while his right eye was large and had a strange green glow to
it.
“So how long you gonna keep us here in silence gramps?” The man
with red hair broke the silence as the other two almost choked
at the horror of what he had said, yet nothing was said back,
instead the man with grey hair sat quietly.
“Hey…Geezer you hearing me?” He spoke once more, this time the
man drinking water almost spitting it back out in shock, his
arms now shaking as he glanced from one man back to the other
before quietly speaking to the man beside him. “Are you stupid?
He’s going to kill us if you keep on!” only to be silenced once
more by the unlit cigarette being placed in his mouth. “If he
was going to kill us he would have done it already, sheesh!”
The two men glared at each other while on the other side of them
sat the man with blonde hair, still looking at the floor, his
eyes shaking and his hands slowly clenching his trousers before
he gulped, and quickly rose to his feet, the other two men
glancing over to him.
“Sir it’s idiot’s like this that all..” Before he could finish
he fell to the floor clutching his throat, a bright orange glow
pouring out from his mouth before the back of his throat tore
open covering the wall behind him in blood.
“There’s nothing I hate more than children who blame others for
their mistakes!” The man with grey hair lowered his left arm
slowly, placing the gun gently on the table in front of him once
more. “Now tell me what happened!”
“Sorry to break it too ya geezer but I don’t think he can
speak…considering ya shot him an all…” The man with red hair
smiled lightly towards the old man before him while the other
glanced back and forth once more. “Anyway, what is there to say?
The guy broke in, stole the briefcase and ran again? We all
screwed up and none of us could catch him… d’yu want me to write
you a report on it?” He laughed softly before raising his right
hand up and placing a cigarette gently against the soft orange
glow beside his head on the wall, the tip of the cigarette
lighting almost instantly. “Thanks old man… I needed a light”
The two exchanged a glance before the wall behind the man
cracked from the shock of the charge that had been shot into it.
“Victus! You’re pushing your luck!” The man with grey hair rose
to his feet, his gun in his left hand once more, meanwhile the
man who had been sipping water was slowly backing away from the
man with red hair. “Oh so we’ve reached the point of using names
aye Eisen!” He rose slowly, his cigarette hanging out of his
mouth. “Well shall we discuss how we’re going to get the little
shit back with our briefcase or d’yu wana fire your gun around
some more?”
The two stared at each other, a noticeable size difference
between the two as Victus was only two thirds of Eisen’s height,
and not even half of his build.
“I don’t care how Victus! Just do it!” Eisen then stormed past
the two, his nostril’s flaring as he walked only to shove his
way through the door and into a small elevator just to the right
of the door.
“Well Garvel… You heard him! Go get the little shit!” Victus
laughed and began to walk out of the room with both hands in his
pockets. “And for the love of god will someone clean up Barak!
He’s gonna stain the damn floor!”
“Damn it Victus… Who the hell do you think you are?” Garvel
rushed to his feet and out of the room to start getting people
together to find the person with the briefcase.

As the door closed to the small computer room the only light’s
that were left were the small LED”s that flickered as the
processor to the mainframe continued to process data, yet even
with this a man still managed to find his way from one side of
the room to the other, and then as a small light flicked up, a
pale blue glow covered the side of his face before vanishing
again. “Hello? Mae…. Oh thank god your there! This place is
crazy! Some guy stole the damn briefcase!!” His voiced paused
for a moment as he listened, not only to the voice of the person
on the phone but also to the people passing outside of the room.
“Yea, and that guy’s damn attitude… it pisses me off, can’t wait
to get out of here… “ He paused once more and then the glow was
gone. “Can’t come back until the mission’s fulfilled blah blah
blah… damn it!”

“Sir we’ve received information about the guy who stole the
briefcase!” A man in a complete black suit ran up, his hair cut
short and small black shades covered his eyes. “Good! Does
Victus know yet?” Garvel replied as he turned to face the man.
“I just saw him on the way here so I let him know!” The man
spoke formerly as if talking to a commanding officer in the
army. “Good, I’ll get to Victus and speak to him about what to
do with the guy once we have him… you guy’s get out there and
bring the briefcase and the runt back here!”
As Garvel began to hurry down the corridor towards where he
believed Victus would be, the man he had spoken too ran off in
another direction, calling people to join him as he ran off,
this briefcase would be located and the wrong would be
corrected, and Eisen would not kill them all.
“Vitcus! The briefcase as already been located!” Garvel ran up
to Victus, exactly where the guard had said he was, beside the
window looking out at the darkened sky as rain continued to
fall, a cigarette burnt slowly in his mouth. “Victus we must
hurry and get the brief case befo..” Again before he could
finish the cigarette was placed in his mouth, this time the
burning end sticking out of his mouth. “Just shut up and have a
smoke Garvel, there’s no need for us to run off for one little
brat.” Victus continued to stare out of the window.
“DAMN IT VICTUS!” Garvel threw the cigarette at the window
before slamming his hand down upon Victus’s shoulder and
spinning him round, grabbing him by the collar and shoving him
against the window. “THIS ISN’T THE TIME TO BE LAID BACK DAMN
IT!!” Garvel shouted at Victus, his eye’s red with anger, his
entire body shaking from the pure hatred he held for the man.
“Can’t you see that we need to all get out there and get that
briefcase back? That we need to stop anything from leaking
outside? That if we don’t Eisen will kill us!!!”
Garvel almost spat the last words into Victus’s face before only
receiving a smile back and then before he knew it his grip on
Victus’s collar had been broken and he found himself with his
nose almost on the floor, his arm twisted behind his back.
“Garvel I remember the day when you joined us here… just under 2
years ago wasn’t it?” Victus spoke softly as he went back to
staring out the window.
“What the hell Victus?!” Garvel almost cried out in pain as he
just hung there with his arm twisted.
“You spent everyday doing exactly as you were told, working your
way closer to the seat you hold so close to you now, yet
everyday you were tired, stressed and just wanted to give up
didn’t you?” His voice was slowly becoming softer.
“Victus…” Garvel had lost the ability to speak, he had no idea
where this was going.
“I watched you grow here Garvel, I watched you do everything you
could for Eisen which is why I never complained about you
becoming one of his personal guards unlike Barak…”
Garvel felt his eyes beginning to water as tears began to build.
“Vic…”
“And even when you are a guard you continue to push yourself and
want to do everything for that man… even though deep down inside
you want to give up…don’t you?”
Garvel softly nodded, tears now dripping from his eyes onto the
floor beneath him, his breathing stead until a cold block was
put to the back of his head, it’s shape the same as the pistol’s
they were given, and with that his breathing stopped, his tears
clogged and his eyes shook.
“Well if you want to give up… You shouldn’t be here should you?
Too bad you ain’t got a home to go too!” Victus laughed softly
before letting go of Garvel’s arm and letting him hit the floor.
As Garvel spun round to look up, Victus had never drawn his gun
but instead had just put his lighter to the back of his head.
“Victus your shit!”
Victus burst out laughing and began to walk away as he sparked
another smoke.
“Damn it Victus… Your attitude really pisses me off damn it!”
Garvel scrambled to his knee’s, his eyes red from the hate and
tears, he didn’t know what to do or say, instead he just stared,
only to see Victus turn around and smile. “I’ll take that on
board shall I Garvel? Well time for you to take something
onboard… If we all leave for one small briefcase, who’s going to
be here to protect the mainframe? Think about it!”
With that Victus walked off once more to leave Garvel on his own
again, tears running down his face once more, what the hell was
he thinking to be shown something so obvious by that arrogant
shit?

The small derelict building, three people sat in a circle, two
of them both wearing dark brown cloaks, the third wearing a
complete dark red jump suit, a dark red hood covering his face.
“So you brought us what we asked for?” One of the people in the
brown cloaks reached forward with an arm, small wires pulling at
his skin as he did so, but with this the person in red moved
back slightly. “I think so…” He replied, keeping both hands
behind him.
“You think?” The man spoke again lowering his arm. “What do you
mean you think?”
“Well you see… I followed everything to plan but… instead of a
vile… all there was…” The man hesitated for a few moments while
fidgeting in his seat before continuing to speak. “There was a
briefcase…”
“And what was in the briefcase?” The man spoke once more now
leaning towards the young man, a small green glow coming out
from under the brown cloak.
“I don’t know… I… I can’t get it open.” He stared at the green
glow before quickly flinging his arms in front of him, his head
bowed as his hands grasped the briefcase for the two people to
take a look at.
One of the two men reached out and took the briefcase before
hiding it under their cloak and standing up.
“Does that mean…I’ve done my job? Can… Can I get my payment?”
The person with the red hood looked up towards the two men only
to see the green glow close to his face. “At the moment you have
only fulfilled half of your promise, so we shall only fulfil
half of the payment.”
The man’s body shook slightly as his trembling voice spoke out.
“But…. I asked to have a body o…” Before he could finish
speaking the man in a black cloak pushed his hand forcefully
through the mans chest, his dark red jump suit tearing, small
shred’s fell to the floor around him as his body fell to the
floor limp, blood bubbling out of the wound.
“To acquire such a body once must lose their organic body first…
If you fulfilled your side fully… We shall come back for you, if
not, then consider this payment for failing.”
The two men then turned and quickly hurried off into the
darkness leaving the lifeless corpse in the middle of the room
where they had met, already, small vermin like creatures had
climbed out of the wall’s to feast.

“Are all the exit’s covered?” A man in a sleek black suit asked
from inside of a small car, rain hitting against the windows of
the car. “uhuh… and is there any activity inside the building?”
He spoke into a small device clipped into his ear, his eyes
closed while his head tilted back. “Understood… start to
advance!”
Leaning forward he opened his eyes, the wipers on the car
pushing the rain water out of the way so he could see the
building, it’s front entrance boarded up but the window next to
it broken, five men dressed the same as himself climbing
through. “Damn it, where did we get this freaking information?”
As he continued to watch someone tapped the window beside him,
his eyes flicked quickly across and he looked for a few moments
before opening the car door and climbing out, the rain hitting a
small black umbrella that was held above his head.
“Sir it’s time we head inside as well!” The person who had
tapped on the window spoke carefully and formally, in his left
hand the handle of the umbrella, in his right hand the barrel of
a large rifle like gun. “Your weapon Sir!” He held out the gun
allowing the man to take it. “I suppose this is it then… Time to
get the damn package back!” Lifting his right hand to his ear he
spoke once more. “Everyone hold your ground! This is Titus!
About to enter first floor!”
With that said he pushed off with his right foot and began to
run towards the building, reaching out carefully with his right
hand he jumped, placing it on the windowsill of the building and
vaulting clean through the window landing smoothly on the broken
glass that covered the floor, his black shoes sliding across the
ground as he lifted the gun to its rightful position under his
sight and scoped the area, around him stood the other five men
that had entered a few moments before, behind him was the man
who was holding the umbrella, though now in his hand he held a
small handle, a thin silver blade sticking out of it, it’s edges
almost shimmering.
“Team A… Scout the entire floor… Team B knock down the rear
door! Mir! With me!” Titus began to walk forward slowly, his gun
raised, the man with the sword quickly pushed off and was gone
into the shadows, the other five men hurried off through
separate door’s of the first floor and began to scout the area.
As he slowly began to climb the stairs to the next floor, a
small shock vibrated the building causing dust to fall from the
walls around him and then the confirmation of Team B breaching
the building echoed through his ear, with that he slowly began
to head up the stairs. Raising his right hand to his ear he
began to speak again. “Team A, make contact with Team B then
head to the second floor!” He sighed softly before lowering his
hand back to the grip of his rifle.
The second floor was empty, he had the two teams scout
everything and meet up with him before they bran to ascend to
the third, and as the other two floors everything was empty.
“Where the hell is this damn package?”
He lowered his gun as he stopped with the rest of Team A, while
they waited for Team B to meet up with them. “Titus, was the
information we received correct? It’s like this building hasn’t
been entered in years!” One of the men around him spoke, their
voice doubtful and irritated but before he could reply everyone
received a transmission. “Team A, this is Team B! We’re on the
fourth floor and have found a body!”
“Fourth floor? How the hell did they get there?” The man spoke
once more, Titus on the other hand looked more confused, his
hand rushed straight to his ear. “Team B this is Titus! How did
you get to the fourth floor when we’re at the stairwell?” He
waited for a few moments before Team B replied, and then a quick
answer came back. “We found a second route upstairs and followed
it!”
Titus looked around at the team and then released his hear and
lowered his hand. “Team… three of you scout the area down here,
find this alternate route now! The other two… We’re going up!”
He then turned and began to climb the next set of stairs, behind
him two people followed quietly, while the other three ran off
in a small squad to locate the other entrance.
“Titus… Doesn’t it seem odd that Team B never communicated about
the second route before following it?” Mir spoke as he appeared
at the top of the stairs waiting for Titus and the other two
men. “Don’t start saying things like that Mir! I don’t need to
start doubting my men when I’m already irritated!” Titus
released his left hand and thumped the wall beside him once more
dust fell from the ceiling. “Sorry Titus… I was just saying.”
With that Mir vanished again.

“Victus! There’s been no response from the search team since
they entered the area surrounding the package.”
A young woman spoke up from behind a small terminal in a large
office like room, her hair dyed blonde with dark brown roots.
“Did you expect them to keep us constantly updated Isha, like
some sort of running commentary?” Victus leaned against the
window frame staring out once more at the rain covered city
around him.
“Well it’s not just the fact they haven’t reported anything,
it’s more the fact they literally dropped off the map, there’s
no signal of them what so ever?” She lifted her head slightly
and looked towards Victus while waiting for a reply. “Look if
they can’t do their job then maybe their better just dropping
off the map.” He sighed and took out another cigarette,
lighting it and then looking back out of the window.
“Victus is that really the attitude to have?” Isha began to
stand up, her eyes no glaring at Victus but before she could
stand up completely another voice entered the room. “Isha don’t
let him get to you, he’s just being an irritating shit today.”
Garvel walked into the office, a small file under his arm and a
light smile on his lips as he looked at Isha. “Ga..Garvel!
Nothing to report sir!” Isha sat straight back down and ducked
her head behind the terminal once more, the rapid clicking of
keys filled the room again. “Isha it’s fine you don’t need to
get straight to work when I enter the room, take a break.”
Garvel smiled as he approached her terminal.
“Yea Isha, listen to what Garvel tells you, he’s looking out for
you.” Victus spoke without even looking over to them, yet with
his words the typing stopped and Isha’s head rose once more,
“Victus…” Garvel instantly turned around to look at Victus.
“Vic…”
The two of them stared for a moment before Victus stood up
straight and turned to walk out of the room. “By the way Garvel,
the search party dropped off the map, and if the package isn’t
located soon Eisen’s going to be looking for the idiot who can’t
do his job… I’ll point him in your direction yea?” He laughed
softly before closing the door behind him just to have the loud
thud smack against the door behind him from where Garvel threw
the files he was carrying at him.
“G…Garvel is everything ok between you and Victus?” Isha spoke
out sitting down once more, burying her head into the terminal
again. “What do you mean?” Garvel was now picking up the
paperwork he had thrown at the door out of rage. “Well, you seem
more aggravated by him recently… and… he seems… as if he’s out
to annoy you more than normal?” Isha looked up from the terminal
for a few seconds before starting to type once more.
“I think we’re just both under stress from everything that’s
going on.” Garvel turned to smile at her but he saw she was back
at work and sighed softly to himself. “You and Victus talk a lot
don’t you Isha?” Garvel stood back up with the files and began
to walk back over to the terminal. “I suppose we do…” Isha
continued to work, her eyes focused on the screen in front of
her. “What do you two talk about?” Garvel was now sitting on the
edge of the desk where the terminal rested, the files on his
lap. “About the city, and what it was like before he got here…”
Garvel froze for a moment, dropping the top file onto the floor
once more, with the sound of the thud Isha paused and looked up.
“Is everything ok?”
“What do you mean before he got here? Hasn’t he always been
here?” Garvel looks over a Isha, his voice trembling slightly
and too his amazement Isha shook her head softly. “He entered
the hive a few weeks before you joined the organization… Did you
not know?” Isha looked at Garvel for a moment then went back to
work. “I thought he would have told you by now… if not someone
else?”
He was shocked, a man he had worked under from day one within
the organization, only to discover he was as new as he was. “So…
what do you mean he entered the hive a few weeks before…”
“Well… he was found on a small scrap ship that crashed into the
Level 20 docking bay…” Isha continued to work as if it was a
completely normal subject for her.
“Wait so he wasn’t born on the hive?” Garvel placed all the
files down and stared at Isha, his eye’s shaking from the
confusion. “Didn’t I just say that?” Isha looked up at Garvel
and paused her work. “Garvel is something wrong?”
Garvel stared for a few moments then picked up the files and
hurried to the door of the room. “Isha I’ll see you again soon!”
Garvel then threw the door open and ran off down the corridor.
“What a strang….what in the world?” Isha found herself
distracted by the terminal as the door began to swing shut, her
eyes widened then as the door fell closed she screamed.

As Titus continued to walk through the fourth floor he looked
around, behind him were the two men who he had ordered to follow
him, but for some strange reason he felt like there were more
people around him. “If anyone see’s anything… Shoot it” Titus
signalled forward for one of the two men to go ahead and check a
room but as he began to pass Titus another communication came
through to their receivers. “This is Team B… Where are you?”
Titus’s heart almost skipped a beat as he hoped it was going to
be the rest of Team A given him a report but on a day like today
it was doubtful he was going to be that lucky. “On our way to
your location.” He ended the transmission there only to receive
another message from them. “Do you think you could hurry up a
bit?”
“What the hell is up with them?” One of the two men looked
around and Titus and his comrade from Team A. “Telling us to
hurry up… Did they smack their heads or something?” Before he
could continue Titus lifted his hand to silence him before
returning to the transmission. “Sorry to keep you waiting, I
didn’t realise we had swapped commanding officers in this?”
The transmission went dead from there on out, and slowly the
three of them looked at each other before moving forward, one of
the two men taking the lead as the other of the two walked
backwards covering their tracks but before they got very far a
member of Team B walked around the corner. “There you are! Do
you people always make people wait?” He then signalled for them
to follow then began to walk off again.
“Titus sir… What the hell gives them the right to act like
this?” The man at the front turned to look back at Titus and the
other man. “I don’t know, but we’re find out when we’re all
together!”
Slowly Titus and the other two followed the man to meet with the
rest of Team B and the body that they had claimed to have found,
and before them was a body of a young man, his scarlet blood
creating a thick pool around in the centre of the room, a hole
in his chest and small bite marks all over his body. “Looks like
this is the kid that stole the package… but where the hell is
it?” One of the men started to look around the room while Titus
took a closer look. “What the heck did this to him…” Team B
stayed silent as the three of them continued to study the room.
“So where’s this other passage then?” One of the two men
questioned Team B, “We didn’t see it on the way here?” He looked
at the group of people and then down at Titus, and then lastly
to his comrade. “In another room, I’ll take you there is you
want?” One of the members of Team B stood up straight and
directed to the door only to be stopped by Titus. “That won’t be
needed, we’re wait here for the rest of Team A”
Team B all looked towards each other then back at Titus. “The
rest of Team A?” The member that spoke stood up and joined the
other member of his team. “Why aren’t you all here?” Instead of
answering though Titus just waved his hand and continued to
study the corpse. “I told them to have a look around, is that a
problem?”
Titus then began to look at the rest of Team B, only to see them
all look around the room at each other. “Titus… This is Team A”
A message came through to his receiver and only his, everyone
else continued with what ever they were doing, Team B on the
other hand continued to look at each other, all seeming to grow
some what edgy. “I don’t know if you can hear me or not… But
We’ve located Team B…” Titus lowered his gaze back to the
corpse, his eyes wide and the feeling of cold sweat running down
his back. “Titus... Sir… Their all headless…”
The transmission ended at that moment as Titus took a gulp, he
looked up slowly and his eyes shook behind his glasses, he knew
what every member on Team’s A through to D looked like, he had
been on a mission like this with each person countless times and
before him stood… Team B.
“We’re leaving this building… Get your stuff and let’s go!”
Titus rose to his feet quickly and turned to leave the room but
before he could get out the door the other two men he had
dragged with him from Team A began to question him. “We haven’t
found the package yet!” came from one of the men. “There’s got
to be more to this place than just this!” The other member said,
and lastly the thing Titus didn’t want to hear was Team B. “We
should wait here for the rest of Team A to get here…”
With that said Titus turned to look at Team B before shaking his
head. “We’re meet them on the way down, we’re going now!” Titus
then walked out of the room and began to hurry down the
corridor, one of the two men following him closely, his rifle in
his hand constantly looking behind, “Titus sir… What’s wrong?”
Before Titus could reply gunfire blasted from the room, the wall
fell apart as bright orange rounds tore clean through it quickly
followed by blood and the lifeless corpse of the other of the
two men. “SHIT WHAT THE HELL?” The second man screamed back but
Titus grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him along the
corridor. “WE ARE NOT STOPPING DAMN IT!”

“So you think that what we’re looking for never left the
building?” The voice came from within a small dark room, a small
soft glow of flickering computer lights filled the floor, the
reflection rounded off from the edge’s of the mans shoes. “So if

moments and then he began to tap his feet. “You think it’s with

shit of a guard he has?”
The computer lights flicked one last time and then all around
him the lights turned off, the humming sound of the computers
processors halted and silence was left within the room. “Huh?
Mae… I’m gonna call you back…”

“Victus? Has anyone seen Victus!” Isha ran down the now dark
hallways as people ran past her in a hurry, everyone partially
panicked from the sudden loss of power within the building.
“Please has anyon.. ah!” She let out a small scream and a hand
grabbed her right shoulder, in the darkness beside her a small
orange glowing light that would grow brighter than dim before a
voice came out. “You shouldn’t be running around like that in
the dark Isha…” Victus smiled down at her before pulling her off
down one of the side corridors.
“Victus there’s been a problem!” Isha said as she followed
Victus down the dark hallway, the only indication of where to go
was the way his arm turned as he moved her and the small glow at
the end of his cigarette. “I guessed that to be honest when the
building lost it’s juice…” Victus replied back, in front of them
at the end of the corridor was a large window and through it
came the glow of streetlights.
“Victus this isn’t the time to be staring out the window!” Isha
pulled away from Victus, her voice trembling with anger as she
watched him continue to the window. “True, it’s not… But then if
you don’t look outside you won’t see what’s happening.” Victus
turned back to Isha before tapping his finger on the glass as
such an angle as if to represent looking down, and so Isha
hurried to the window, pressed her nose to the window and stared
down before gasping softly. “What in the name…”
Victus turned around and looked down the corridor before
removing the cigarette from his mouth and letting it hand beside
his leg. “Isha, I’m taking a guess that the briefcase they stole
wasn’t what they thought it was” Isha turned to stare at him
before grabbing his arm tightly and tugging. “What good does
that do us Victus?” Instead of replying though Victus just began
to walk forward back to where they had come from. “Victus what
the hell is going on?” Isha tried to pull back on his arm but
found herself pulled forward still before he would turn back to
look at her. “Isha, if you continue to talk and waste time, then
we’re going to die, and I would prefer that not to happen. Ok?”
Victus got to the end of the corridor and reached his right arm
out and with that Isha squeezed his other arm as a loud thud hit
the floor, a groan poured out of what ever it was before rolling
around the floor in pain. “What my god what was that!?” Isha
cried to Victus wanting some sort of answer, worried for what
the answer may be but instead Victus ignored her and spoke to
himself. “Damn it Garvel how many times are you going to run up
and down this corridor like a scared little kid!” At that moment
the groaning stopped and Isha fell silent, her grip releasing on
Victus’s arm before she fell to her knees and started
scrambling to see if it was actually Garvel on the floor.
As she reached forward towards where she believed he would be
she felt something kick her hands away, as she looked up she
felt Victus’s hand grasp her shoulder and pull her violently
back to her feet “We don’t have time for you to play doctor
Isha! Now let’s move! Garvel get to your feet!” Victus quickly
turned on the stop and began to walk down the dark corridor,
commanding people as they went to run past him. Meanwhile Garvel
climbed to his feet and groaned once more. “Garvel are you ok?”
Isha spoke softly as she started to walk forward following
Victus, behind her Garvel followed while groaning to himself, he
didn’t reply to her and he probably wouldn’t straight away, he
was more aggravated by Victus .

Gunfire poured down the corridor as Titus dived down the
stairwell, the other man that was with him falling behind limp
and lifeless, his head riddled with bullet holes. “Damn it! What
the hell is going on?” Titus shouted as he continued to work his
way down the stairs and to the third floor. As he reached the
bottom beside the doorway stood another member of Team A, his
rifle poised to shoot anything that came down behind Titus.
“Sir! Keep moving through the building, the rest of the team are
waiting.” Titus just nodded as he rushed past, no thought in his
mind to tell him that Team B were the people chasing him, and as
he continued to hurry towards the stair well for the next floor,
he felt the cold sweat run down his back again as the voice of
the man at the doorway echoed down the corridor. “Team B? We
thought you were d…” His word cut of short by the fizzling sound
of a rifle round put straight down his throat before the
splatter of the wound tearing open covering the wall behind him
in muscle and blood.
Titus continued to run without the contemplation to look back
but instead he lifted his hand to his ear and began to release
another transmission. “Team A this is Titus! Evacuate the
building! Do not wait! If I am not out of the building in two
minutes… bury it!” He cut the transmission short knowing that
the rest of Team A, the last two members would not agree with
his commands but would do them anyway. And there it started, the
timer for his survival.
He burst through the door to the stairwell and pushed off with
his feet, his rifle drifting behind him by the thick leather
strap as he soared through the air and into the wall at the
bottom of the stairs, using both hands he pushed off and made
for a mad sprint down the next flight before reaching the second
floor, but as he got through the doorway he heard another person
crash into the wall where he had.
He didn’t have the time to look back, he had to keep running but
as he did he felt a strange burning sensation pass beside his
left ear, the side of his glasses dipped before the pain fell
into place, the bright orange round that taken his ear clean off
along with the side of his glasses, blood ran violently down the
side of his hear and he quickly went to cover it up with his
hand, but still the burning sensation stayed as he ran, his
blood boiling as it poured out from the quick contact with the
plasma.
Behind him the man rushed down the stairs and through the
doorway, his rifle lifted up to shoot once more at Titus but was
stopped as his left hand became numb, as he looked down slowly
he saw the fresh colour of green blood drip from his wrist, and
then again a few inches up, the man began to scream before his
mouth flooded with the same green blood, beside him footsteps
echoed across the floor as Mir walked past him, his thin silver
shimmering blade dripping a thick green blood. With that sight
the man fell to the floor, his body cut apart cleanly and his
blood pouring out into the floor leaving a sign for the other
four that would soon rush down the stairs behind him.
Mir turned to look at the stairs and then the corpse, a slight
smile on his face before vanishing into the shadows once more.
Titus continued to run forward, his hand pressed against the
side of his head as his wound continued to pour out now cooling
blood, the white suit he wore under his black suit now staining
red as he worked his way closer to the stairwell to the ground
floor, yet behind him no more people came.
“Titus! Sir!” Two men ran out from the stair well as Titus grew
closer, both of their rifles overheating, one completely burnt
out while the other one looked as if it’s chamber was going to
fall apart with the next shot fired. “I thought I told you to
evacuate the building!” Titus ran towards them covering his ear
only to be grabbed by one and stopped from running into the
doorway of the stair well, as he felt his body hit the force of
the man grabbing him heard the click of a trigger and from the
bottom of the stair well burning orange bursts of plasma rushed
through the door way making the corridor in front of it. “What
the hell?”
Titus spun round to look at the man who had grabbed him only to
see the man’s eyes rolled back and his mouth dripping with
blood, a round and drilled clean through the wall and hit him
straight in the side of the next forcing him to choke violently
on his own blood and within moments he feel lifelessly to the
floor and the orange round dispersed and sent the side of the
throat in all directions, chunks of flesh sticking to the walls
around them.
“Shit what the hell is this!!” Titus ducked from the area he
stood into a small side room, closely followed by the other of
the two men who grabbed his colleagues rifle and got ready to
shoot anything that came round the corner. “How the hell did
they get downstairs?” Titus shouted at the man who was now with
him, only to hear him whimper a reply back. “We were about to
get out of the building and then something fell…”
Titus turned to stare at the marine who was now sobbing against
the wall, clutching the rifle in his arms like a child would
clutch a soft toy. “Then what ever it was stood up, then another
one fell and stood up the same… both of them lifted their arms
and started shooting…”
The man then broke down into tears, he couldn’t speak anymore
and Titus couldn’t understand what he was going on about anyway.
“Damn it so two of them jumped from the floor above us and
survived? What the hell are they?” Titus punched the wall out of
anger before hearing a friends voice in the corner. “Titus the
two who the man speaks off had the briefcase with him.” Mir
walked out from the shadows beside the man who was crying, his
right hand holding the sword yet it no longer had the shimmering
silver glow to it, yet on the other side of him, his left hand
was burnt off clean at the wrist, the dried blood molten into
place and a scab already boiling into place.
“Mir what happened?” Titus almost rushed to see his friend
before stopping on the spot knowing how unprofessional it would
be to do so. “I got in a small brawl with one of them… When they
know your there their actually fairly tough.”
Titus stared for a few moments then looked back down at the
sobbing man they had with them, his grip on his gun had loosened
but he still cried like a child. “Will you pull yourself
together your not going to survive if you keep on crying…” Titus
looked away from the man, he didn’t know what else to say and
thankfully the crying almost instantly stopped and he smiled
slightly before nodding. “That’s more like it now lets get out
of here!” Titus turned to look only to see Mir stepping away
from the wall while the man who had been crying sat where he had
been, his head removed and fallen into his lap.
“Titus I believe they’ve found us…” Mir spoke softly before
turning to Titus then glancing at the window, without any
hesitation Mir threw his sword at the window then sprinted
towards it himself, the sword hitting the glass and falling to
the ground, slight cracks covered the glass until Mir threw his
own body weight into it, the glass giving way and flying
outwards letting Mir fall down to the ground floor. Titus
watched in horror as Mir did this before running up to the
window and looking out to see if his friend was still alive.
To his amazement Mir was still alive, rolling on the floor in
pain but alive and in a situation like this, that is what
mattered. “Shit Mir!” With that Titus turned to look back to
look at the doorway beside the now lifeless corpse only to see
one of the Team B members poised ready to strike with a sword
almost identical to Mir’s. “I don’t suppose I’m going to get a
second thought about this am I…” Titus began to turn as the man
began running towards him, without a thought Titus jumped onto
the windowsill and then pushed off trying to get as much
distance from the window as possible but he wasn’t lucky enough
to get away unscathed.
He felt the clean smooth blade cut through the back of his leg,
not enough to remove it but enough to make sure he didn’t want
to land on it, but with the height he was falling he had very
little choice but to use both legs and hope he survived.
