I laughed a bit at the woman's words. "Well, I can't say we are
very scary unless we're fighting. Clad in armor, looking like
iron demons marching forward, I can imagine how we would look
frightening. But otherwise I think we're rather docile." I
looked across the people, injured and broken, and shook my head.
"No, they're far enough away from their homes already...and some
of them don't have homes to return to. The Governor thought the
local militia could handle the Eagle Worshipers, as the south
does not want standing soldiers placed anywhere other than in
the provincial capitals. So...unfortunately, we're here much
later than I wished we would have been." I said with a sigh. I
nodded at her name, thinking a bit at the words that followed
it. "Platforms would be the most helpful...we do not know where
their camp is, and so for the time being we are playing defense,
as it were. I wish we could march into the woods and crush them,
but wandering these forests is far too dangerous. Unlike us,
there is much to be feared in the shadows of the trees." I said,
looking out toward the dark, foreboding woods. Even with the
flowering trees and drifting petals, the woods were thick and
let in little light. "We need platforms to place archers and
siege engines. That is my priority inside the walls...as for
outside..."
I looked to the castle, and nodded in its direction. "As for
outside, lets go take a look at some maps and draw up some plans
for Juku and yourself." I walked toward the castle on the rugged
dirt roads. Upon entering the palace, the light halved, but my
eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness. There were no torches or
candles to light the chamber, but most military men could work
in such lighting. I went through several hallways to come across
Father Amadeus, and I bowed slightly in his direction. "Hello
father Amadeus. I'd like to introduce you to Aku, she will be
helping us prepare the defenses." I said, motioning to the
woman.
The priest nodded to the woman politely. "A pleasure to meet
you, my child. I assume you seek the library, Lord Hizori?" He
said, motioning to the door behind him. "I have already found
the most recent maps, and the Captain of the Paladins has marked
the best places for embankments outside the castle." He said,
motioning for us to follow him inside.
The library was clearly more maintained than the rest of the
castle, perhaps even more so than the rest of the city. Shelves
of polished oak soared above us, lined with leather-bound books,
tomes, and scrolls. Windows lit the room as clearly as outdoors,
and the floors were neither cracked not had weeds growing
through them. On a table were five maps with markings added to
them, and behind that table stood a man armored in heavy, white
metal. The emblem of the church shone brightly from the left of
his armor, the cross surrounded by grapevines. "Lord Rokku." Was
all he said, bowing and moving away from the table. I moved
forward, and glanced over the maps, nodding in agreement with
the Captain's decisions. I took the maps, rolled them up, bowed
to the captain and the father, and motioned for Aku to follow me
out. "We'll take these to Juku ourselves." I said simply.

I managed to finish about 6 holes already, each one evenly
across from each other and precisely the same depths.
"Such..beauty...Such precision." I smiled as I started work on
hole number seven. While digging, I felt odd for a second, and
at that moment everything around me vanished. "Bury them
all?...Bury them alive?..Show them the errors?" It was like the
souls within the lantern were speaking to me, or was it my own
conscious? I shook my head continuing my work. "Don't you wish
to see them...gasping for breath?..Begging for life?" I halted
my shovel for a moment. "...Yes.." I said softly.
"Good...Good..You will have to make them pay.." Motioning once
again to finish the hole." Those..who are corrupted..Will be
shown nothing but darkness.." I replied softly.

Always being told that humans were something to fear was
natural. Though it seemed to me that I was the one most feared
among the humans. Not looking like them would prove to be
troublesome when they wouldn't let me near them to have some
form of contact so I could get a reading on how injured they
were. Listening as he spoke, quirking a brow every once in a
while to show I was listening as I worked along the way. "My
kind fears humans because of the fact that we look so much
different and do things so much differently. It was humans that
destroyed most of my race in fear. Yet that's what I'm told.
From the analyzing of humans so far, they fear me greatly
because of the fact that they are unsure of what I'm capable of.
When I come into contact with creatures, I physically analyze
their anatomical structure. This includes their way of
thinking." Trailing off as I followed him, I looked around with
a sorrow that was deeply embedded into orange orbs.
There was a distance and silence that shrouded around myself and
I was well aware of what I should do. Though I'd wait for the
time being. When I was greeted by the priest I did not hesitate
to show respect by bowing my head. Gaining a small smile as I
spoke,"Hello.." Continuing with following Rokku, there were some
questions but I refrained from asking them for the moment. It
was when crossing a man clad in armor that I seemed perplexed
beyond belief. "Oh.. Humans cannot liquidate themselves so they
need to be protected by steels and hard armors.." Saying this
mainly to myself, I nodded to the male before following Rokku
once more. "So you're a lord? My apologies if I say or do
anything that seems out of line to your ranking. In the culture
of my people, that would result in liquidation for a day." Once
we were a little bit away from the armored man, I let out a
little sigh and crossed my arms over my chest.
After analyzing the anatomical structure of the humans, I was
able to verify how to connect such things with my own and to
alter my own appearance to match their's. Eyes shifted to a
gentle green washed blue and rainbow locks seemed to drain of
the ink, turning to a ebony raven color as the ink trailed to
the bags I carried on my arms. My ears rounded and I blinked a
few times as the dress I wore changed to simple black shorts and
a black tank top. "There.. I hope I look human enough so they
don't get upset when I come near them.." Muttering this, I
smiled slightly and looked around. "Platforms will be no issue.
It will only take but a few moments to make them. Saving the
data from this form is already complete. I can change at will..
So if you'd like.." Pausing, I turned newly shaded orbs up to
the male and smiled sweetly. "I can go search the forest myself.
Considering I can become nothing more than particles upon the
winds. They would not realize they were being looked for or
watched.. I'd have to leave these things with you though. I hold
nothing against humans, but I'd feel much safer leaving literal
parts of me with someone that would not attempt to evaporate
them in fear."

I nodded as the woman told me of her people's history. "Well,
humans from different places are very different. Some are much
more aggressive than others. At any rate, these people are
already fearful...normally, the people of the south would trust
you without question, but at the moment..."I shook my head. The
culture of the South seemed to be in more danger than it had
ever been before, at least as far as Sa-Tai province was
concerned. Of course, the Eagle Worshipers would not stop with a
single province. I waved a dismissive hand at the woman when she
mentioned doing something out of line. "My dear, you've been
nothing but helpful, and me being a Lord only matters to
soldiers anyway. Worry not." I said with a slight smile as we
left the castle to return to the full light of day. I blinked
only slightly in surprise as the woman shape-shifted into a more
human form. "You look as human as anyone else." I said.
I heard the woman's offer to scout the woods as we left the
outer gate. "If you could locate their camp, I would be
eternally grateful. But I want to get all the defenses in place
first, I don't need any surprise raids doing us in." I said,
walking farther to find Juku hard at work, and nearly done with
the trap holes it seemed. "Juku, these are the plans for the
embankments. Also, does the soil seem solid enough to be able to
hold a palisade wall in place? I do not want to set up spikes
just to have the enemy able to kick them down." I said, handing
the rolled up map to the man.

Noticing that Rokku and the woman from before had returned, I
made sure I was fully there and not lost in my own desires.
Putting my shovel aside in the seventh hole for a second . "Let
me see them.." I took hold of the plans for the embankments,
rubbing my chin slightly. I peeked out of the hole to see where
they would be placed. "Hm..interesting." Rolling back up the map
and placing it in my tunic. "The ground won't budge..If the
spikes go in, they're not going to go anywhere easily. " Taking
a hold of my shovel again, the tingling sensation coursed
through my veins again. "I'll be working all night."

"Mainly an illusion. I've only changed my outer
appearance. My innards and such are still vastly different than
humans'." I noted quietly, listening to him otherwise. Once he
finished speaking, I turned my attention to the other male for a
moment before he finished. Tilting my head only slightly, I
thought to myself before I came up with an idea. Though I
dismissed it for now to further think it through. Turning newly
fixed orbs to Rokku, I quirked a brow a bit. "I can understand
their fear nonetheless. I looked nothing like them and in this,
even if they say I can be trusted instantly, that would not be
the case. No matter what creature you are or what species, we
all have a tendency to fear what we do not know or cannot
explain. It's a rarity that curiosity will prove dominant over
that and excel to lead to expeditions of figuring things out."
Pausing, I looked down to Juku for a moment before chuckling a
bit.
"Humans are all different. That's what makes us similar in some
way. It's the personality, the heart, and soul that differs
everyone to be an individual. Maybe some day humans will evolve,
being able to read such things. You only wish to protect these
people and help, yet you do not want unnecessary bloodshed.
Wishful thinking if we're not very careful." Though I was
constantly told never to go near humans and that humans were
more dangerous than ourselves, humans couldn't do half the
things we could do. They were scared of us, they couldn't heal
themselves, and they were extremely breakable. This worried me
slightly, I wasn't sure how I could be of more help but ideas
were brewing like crazy. Looking to Rokku for a moment, I turned
my vision back to Juku and smiled lightly. "If you need
anything, let me know, okay? I'll bring you what you need. Be
careful and please don't hurt yourself."
Separating myself could do finely for doing multiple tasks.
Though I wasn't quite sure what the humans would call it, so for
the moment, I simply looked around to try to get a good out look
on things. "Rokku, humans are very delicate creatures.. After
examining the anatomical structure of humans, I could tell you
weak points of the body as well as points you could strike to
disable functions of mobility.. If you'd like, I could separate
myself and do multiple things at once. Though the original part
of me will have to remain dormant and unmoving. I can do this up
to six different parts of myself.. Handling the healing and
tending to people as well as working on the defenses and keeping
a watch on the area to be sure there isn't any approaching
danger.. This last part would be taken care of by threads I
suppose you could say. Laying threads of myself all over the
area so if any other than the people associated under your care
were to touch them, that would send me into a jolt and I'd be
able to warn you."

"Illusion or not, it gets the job done." I said with a small
smile. "And I suppose you're correct, though you need mostly
resemble an elf, and most people have seen one or two of those
before, though they generally don't leave their nations of
Kiyara and Darconia for very long...But I digress." I said,
making at least the attempt to get back on track. I looked
around the area, mentally making a map of where I wanted the
palisade placed. I heard the woman's offer, and nodded slightly.
"Do not strain yourselves, either of you." I said, and continued
to stare into the woods...seeing...something, but not quite able
to make out what it was. "Set these threads...and heal the
sick...the other things can be taken care of by the soldiers. I
will have Father Amadeus prepare the Paladins...I sense a
powerful energy in the air...I am not sure what this is...It is

Listening to him, I simply smiled a bit and looked
around for a moment. So these humans had seen another type of
creature, that was something new. When he became distracted, I
quirked a brow and looked over where he was looking before I
cooked up another idea. Scrunching my nose, I looked down to my
wrist and looked as though I was pinching it. Though I looked
human for the moment, I still wasn't anything close to it, that
much was clear as day as I pulled a thread from my flesh.
Watching it as it thickened into a band of sorts, I lightly
grabbed his hand and let it attach to his wrist. Looking over it
once more, I tilted my head and looked back to where he was
looking. "This should help you.. In close proximity, think about
pressure points of the person your fighting and the threads will
react. This will also help keep an eye on your vitals and keep
you from burning energy quickly by replenishing. If you need
help drastically, just think it and I'll get the message. Like
telepathy but more inbound to work." With that, I turned on my
heels quickly and went inside the structure before two of me
came out a few moments later to do as I was told to do. Setting
the threads and working on healing the sick, one of the clones
had dispersed to lay the threads and the other was madly healing
and helping.

I forcefully shoved the shovel head into the ground, making the
arrangements for the embankments. Overhearing the conversation
above me and minding most of it off. I pulled myself out of the
hole and headed towards the pile of spikes, each being about
eight feet long and leaning towards half a foot thick. I wrapped
my arms around one of them, feeling the wooden texture scrap
against my skin, leaving splinters as I lift up the spike.
Carrying the object I noticed where the best spot to put it was,
right behind the holes I dug before. I looked at the plans for
the embankments and according to them, it was just a bit off
where Rokku requested them but I could make adjustments easily.
Forcefully impaling the spike into the ground, making sure it
wouldn't budge at the light touch. I nodded at my work and
repeated the same process.
