The Agasarian Empire [RP]
DIR By: RiloRii

---------------------------------------------------------
For several thousand years, the Agasarian Empire has
dominated the Eastern continent of Arras. Over the millenia, it
has spread to cover half the world, and boasts the largest army,
city, and economy in all of Arras. The provinces are divided by
geographical regions, and are collectively associated with a
cardinal direction. The Western Provinces boast the agricultural
center of the empire. Spawling fields and lush green grass
dominate the region and no soil is richer than that of these
provinces. Pastures, horse breeders, all can be found here. The
Eastern Provinces are the trade hub of the Empire, and can claim
a tropical climate, gorgeous beaches, and numerous ports.
Unfortunately, these coastal provinces are also famous for the
Black Market, and while it provides a number of illegal, albeit
popular, goods and services, it a very dangerous and sadly
powerful organization. To the North are the provinces of snow
and ice. While not heavily populated, it does hold three cities
of crystal with populations over a million people. These
provinces are also home to mines which provide iron, coal, gems,
and the mysterious Northern Lights, odd stones that absorb solar
energy and enable agriculture around the three cities made from
this stone. To the South lie the great forests, home of rare and
dangerous creatues, plants, and the last pagans on Arras. Here,
the people are one with the forest, and will defend it to the
last breath. Here, no city has a population over 15,000, and the
two religions, Astrarianism and Christianity live side by side
in peace and harmony. Finally, the Central province, being the
only one, claims the mightiest and oldest remaining city in the
world, nestled in a valley and surrounded by mountains. It holds
over two hundred million souls, and protects the Church's High
Temple, the most important building of Christianity. The city
is split by a river, and surrounded by seven walls. The grand
palace of the Emperor sprawls across twenty acres of land, with
barracks, servants quarters, The Senate Chamber, and the main
palace complex. All buildings of Musari are build with white
stucco and terra cotta tiles of a variety of colors, from
traditional red to deep greens blues and purples. The palace
itself is a large square, with the throne room sticking out from
the front, creating the effect of a Greek or Roman temple. A
similar structure connects the rear hall to the front hall, and
it is here where the Emperor and his family resides.
(These are not the only areas of this world. Arras is a vast
world, and there are many nations and areas upon it. Please read
the characters post to double check where everyone is.)

Spring was beginning to return to the forests of the south. The
trees were in full blossom, and nearly every color swathed
through to never-ending sea of trees. This was the time when the
population of the south got a slight boost from tourism, as many
would flock to see the ancient trees, some so large they dwarfed
some mountains, and the petals gently fall with the wind. This
was the scene today, but it was not tourists, but soldiers who
traveled south this day.
I rode atop a white horse, leading the legion of men behind me.
I wore no armor, but lords robes, several layers of white and
light blue silk. Next to me, atop a black horse, rode a man
clothed in the simple black robes of a priest. This was Father
Amadeus, a representative of the Church, who led the paladins
send by High Priest Artemis to help deal with the Eagle
Worshipers and their black magics.
"I wish we were here under better circumstances." Said the
priest. "These forests are truly the work of God."
I nodded in response. "Yes, they are, which is why we need to
protect them and their people. Another village was raided and
burned to the ground last night in 'sacrifice.' We cannot allow
the Eagle Worshipers to continue this. Freedom of Religion or
not, this is outright treason! I've mixed feelings about it as
well, Father, but we also cannot allow innocents to be
slaughtered."
The old priest sighed, and looked ahead. "I know this to be
true, my son. I simply wish that there was another way." The
priest said, and then stood in the stirrups. "I believe Castle
Sa-Tai is up ahead. I can see the banner."
"Well...we're almost there at least." Was my only response. I
nudged the horse a bit, and it broke into a slightly faster
trot. "Come on men, we're almost there." I shouted back.
The men continued to march in a uniform fashion. The divisions
of the army were twenty five hundred heavy infantry, heavily
armored and well trained sword and spearmen, five hundred
archers, five hundred heavy cavalry, five hundred light
infantry, two hundred mages, three hundred siege engineers, and
five hundred of the famed Black Riders, heavily armored men who
shot semi-automatic crossbows from horseback with as much ease
as a man getting dressed in the morning.
Castle Sa-Tai was not really anything impressive, at least
compared to buildings in the rest of the empire. But, it would
do the job. A ten story domed tower was the only central
building, surrounded by a wall two stories high and several feet
thick with crenelations for archers to hide behind. Next to the
castle was the small castle town, several stone buildings
surrounded by a simple one story stone wall. The population was,
perhaps, seven thousand people, including the soldiers and
refugees.
"Well...it's old and covered in moss and vines...but it'll do."
I said.

The sight of this place made me feel somewhat, relaxed. The
blossoming trees and different colored ones just never seemed to
end. I had no idea where I was headed but I was going to make
sure I didn't inflict terror and fear. I stopped for a moment to
rest to notice a structure in the distance, it looked like a
castle if I squinted my eyes. "I haven't seen one of those..in
years." Sighing softly remembering the haunting image that has
been with me for my entire life, quickly shaking it off and
lifting up the sack I carried over my back.
The sack contains bones that rattle constantly whenever I move,
and next to them is a somewhat large tombstone that is secured
tightly. My attire consists of old style clothes made from
simple fabric that have patches, tears, and a few small
holes; They are considered "rags" in the current times. My head
is covered with a hood made from the same type of fabric, hiding
half of my face. I wear a strange shaped lantern around my neck,
while carrying an equally odd shaped shovel in my hands.
I continued my walk towards the building, which strange enough
was indeed a castle. It didn't quite look too threatening or any
sort. While I moved I noticed a bunch of men marching in unison
towards the castle along with some people that looked like
refugees. Figuring I could possibly blend in, I walked with the
crowd inside the castle walls.

The ancient doors of the outer wall were already wide open, as
refugees came in droves, or what were considered drives in the
south, five or so every hour, give or take. The walls were
covered in moss and vines, even a few saplings seemed to be
growing from the cracks in the stones. "I'm not sure if these
walls could hold up to a strong wind, let alone a siege..." I
whispered to Amadeus, who nodded in agreement. The men marched
into the gates, and made their way toward the interior of the
castle. The small town outside the castle walls was as ancient
as the walls, small and made of stone with thatched rooves. "A
few flaming arrows and the whole town is ash..." I mumbled, and
then turned to follow the soldiers into the castle.

From inside the castle it looked decent size. I wasn't sure what
was going on here, but it felt like something was in the
brewing. I decided to walk around and inspect the area for any
lost ones, my lantern would glow lightly if it picked up any
thing. While searching, I took notice to the walls covered in
moss and vines. Judging by the looks of it, these walls weren't
tended too for a long time, but if they are concerned for the
defense of this place...Why come here?

It was not that I had disdain for the South or its people, but
everything here seemed to be either old or inadequate. This very
castle was over two thousand years old, and seemed like it had
never been maintained. It made defending the people who flocked
here for safety very difficult. I was personally afraid of
putting archers on the outer wall surrounding the town for fear
of it collapsing! I glanced over to see a man taking a look at
the ancient walls himself. I judged him to be a simply refugee,
there were certainly plenty of them. "I know there's not much to
them, is there? Tell me sir, are you a local?" I asked, needing
information to form a battle plan.

It didn't seem like there were any nearby wandering spirits,
perhaps I need to smack the ground a little bit. So I took my
shovel and banged it softly against the ground hoping to find at
least one. Sighing softly, my attention drew back to the walls
until I heard someone approaching my way, slowly turning around
to see this man who looked to be one the 'royals' around here.
"These walls will not keep you all safe for very long, if you
notice all the vines and moss growing on them..it's weakening
the stone." Remembering he also asked if I was from around these
parts. "I am not from around, I am a...wanderer if you will."

Hiding. The winds, it was all that was there, so it
seemed so anyways. Caressing winds that seemed warmer than
usual, scattered pigments of colors reflected in the light. A
tender aroma of sweet lilacs that brushed past the faces of
people. Who were they? I wasn't quite sure right now. Though as
my scattered form traveled along the winds, I found myself
becoming tired of it and simply reformed my scrambled body
behind a structure. Burning orange orbs peeked around the wall
as I watched carefully, the people seemed as though they needed
help while some of the others seemed like they were protecting
the ones needing the help. "How curious.." I muttered casually
beneath my breath. Silken strands and curls of rainbow colors
scatted sunkissed freckled shoulders as pointed ears jutted out
from the mane of colors. A smile turning lips as I moved a bit
closer and tried to remain hidden. Though my curiosity wouldn't
allow me to stay away for long.
Surely there was some reason for their being here? Maybe there
was something coming and they needed to hide as well? Or maybe
they were here to help give those people homes? I wasn't quite
sure really. Blinking a few times, I found myself getting a bit
closer to the crowd, I knew I was more noticeable at this point;
yet I was just so curious! I wanted to know who they were and
why they were here, why they looked different from me and
smelled different from me! It was so confusing and puzzling!

I sighed, nodding. "No, the walls won't last much to a siege,
but this is the only castle in the Sa-Tai province, I'm afraid.
The only reason we feel we can defend this place is because the
Eagle Worshipers lack siege technology." I said, looking around.
The man was a wanderer...so chances are he wouldn't know the
terrain very well, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. "Are there any
hills nearby? Or cliffs? Anything to give us some kind of height
advantage?" I asked, looking across the small crowd that had
gathered. Most of them looked poor and dirty, miles from home
and ready to collapse at a moment's notice. Except for one odd
one, that seemed to be slinking through the crowd. She
looked...off. I kept a close eye on her as she moved through the
group of people.

I tilted my head a bit at his response. "Then why do you stay?
Why not move to somewhere more secure?" I replied while still
lightly tapping at the ground, luckily find one soul rising from
up out of the ground, floating towards the lantern as it glows
brightly for a second than dims down, causing a small smile to
form on my face. "I don't recall seeing either of which..If
you're looking to get the jump on them..I can provide some help
if you wish." That small smile growing as the thought of digging
excited me, my heart began to pump, and I clutched the shovel
tightly.
