Something in Raijuta's gut told him that Soraya would refuse to
answer his question. It was fine. Her reaction upon seeing
Genesis was amusing. He was certainly far from aesthetically
appealing, but then, with all the experimenting he had done on
his body, was that really surprising? He noticed Soraya reach
for him out of the corner of his eye, but she retracted her
hand. He releases a silent sigh, an icy blue mist escaping his
lips as he did so. She hadn't changed a bit; Determined to prove
that she was strong, and that she could stand on her own. But
Rai would have none of that. He took a step back so that he
stood next to her, and he reached for her hand. He turned and
looked the woman in the eye, and the look in his emerald green
eyes was unmistakable. He didn't even have to speak. His face
said the words. "I know you're strong. But you don't have to be
alone." Even though Genesis didn't like witnesses, the stern
look he gave the surgeon was also unmistakable. "I'm staying by
her side."

Another day's work. Genesis had acquired quite a treasure this
time... All for a quite simple surgery at that. An unsettling
grin played on his face as the woman told him where she wanted
the Jewel implanted. "My pleasure." He said, as he licked his
lips. Of course, this was all just for the fun of shaking her
up. The surgeon cared only for profit, and had no interest in
things like sex... In all honesty though, she had chosen the
best possible place to implant the jewel. It could do it's job
best if close to her heart. Raijuta's stare was irritating. He
of all people knew that Genesis didn't allow onlookers. But he
was also quite formidable, and it was clear from what he was
willing to sacrifice that he cared deeply for this woman. There
was no way around it. After rolling his eyes at the Draconian,
He spoke a few words in some forgotten language, which would
instantly put the woman to sleep. He began reaching into his bag
for a few necessary tools. It was was time to get started...

Raijuta had a very protective persona about him ever since the
moment Genesis arrived. He paid close attention to everything
that was said, every question, answer and bit of body language.
He followed Soraya's hand when Genesis asked her where to place
her jewel, and quickly turned his head to the ground when he
realized where she was pointing. His low body temperature
prevented him from blushing, but he couldn't help put feel a bit
embarrassed. Pearl fangs grew in, and a low growl erupted
through the room when Genesis made his faces at the woman. He
didn't say a word, but his expression made it very clear that he
would end the surgeons life if he tried anything inappropriate.
When Genesis put the woman to sleep, he caught her body before
it could hit the ground, placing her gently on his bed. "He then
moved to the opposite side of the bed, and out of the surgeons
way. He wouldn't do anything to slow down the process, but he
would be present at all times....

Genesis figured his spell would last about six hours. more than
long enough for him to complete the process. Neither the womans
scowls, nor Raijuta's silent threats had phased him. However he
found their reactions more than amusing. He held the Efusio
Anima in his hands and began another chant. After a few moments
of this, the dormant Phoenix was extracted from her body and
absorbed into the stone. Of course, It wouldn't remain locked in
the gem. Once incorporated into her body, it would return to
it's natural position, but would remain bonded to the gem, it's
cravings satisfied by the damned spirits that would flow through
the gem and directly to it. He set up an odd contraption around
the woman, which held the gem perfectly above her chest, and he
began to chant once more, a strange energy flowing from his
hands, through the gem, and down toward the position where the
gem would be engraved. The process was slow, however, taking an
hour just to lower the gem to her skin, and another three hours
to permanently embed it in her skin. He then turned to Raijuta.
"Listen closely." He told the Draconian. "The gem will work
properly, delivering damned souls directly from hell when the
beast so craves them. But under the light of the blue moon, or
the eclipse, It will not work, and the Phoenix' cravings will be
as active as they once were. Let me know when she's ready for
her next surgery." he said with a laugh, before letting himself
out.

For the four hours that the surgery took to complete, Raijuta
did not leave Soraya's side. He didn't let go of her hand once
as he kept a close eye on both her, and the surgeon. He listened
to his explanations and warnings, but didn't respond verbally.
He excused Genesis with a nod of his head and looked down at
Soraya, Taking a blanket from under the bed and placing it over
her body. He remained by her side, his hand in hers, until he
eventually fell asleep. Until she awoke, his head would be
rested on the edge of the bed, waiting for her awakening...

For the past twenty-four hours, Raijuta had been able to think,
and care about nothing other than the woman he had harbored. Her
care and protection superseded all, including his own well
being. Even in his dreams, he was protecting her. In his arms he
carried her across the bitter cold and harsh weather of the
mountains of Talbart, his aura somhow protecting her from the
equally cold snow and wind in the area. Her warmth brought him
to a place bliss, rather than the discomfort he normally felt
when faced with warm temperatures. To the other side of the
mountain he carried her, neither of them speaking a word, most
likely due to her unconsciousness. On the other side, they
arrived at a field, where the woman finally opened her eyes, and
greeted the man with... A kiss... It was warm, and tender,
lasting no more than a second or two as he placed her on the
ground.
Raijuta's mind stirred in response to such an event, slowly
pulling him out of his slumber, the first he'd had since his
arrival. When his eyes opened, the first thing they settled on
was his guest, who had seemingly awakened soon before he. Her
cheeks were red, as his surely would have been if his body
temerature weren't regulated by his Draconian blood. Had she had
a dream similar to his own? or was it something else that shook
her? Of course it was something else.... He knew well where her
mind and heart were. Perhaps it was the realization that he wad
watched her surgery, in one of the most intimate of places, that
brought the color to her face. Perhaps it was the fact that she
remained without a shirt. Whatever it was, it forced Raijuta to
look away, down to the sheets on the bed. "I'm sorry." He said,
not really sure what he was apologizing for. "Would you like a
shower? I'll gather you some clothes. He wasn't sure, but he
didn't think she had left any clothes here when she left the
last time, but surely he had something she could wear in the
house. Perhaps Akeria's room would have what he needed. He got
up and left the room, coming back in a moment with a set of
clothes (your choice), and a washcloth and towel. His bathroom
was equipped with a top-notch shower and jet tub. He would wait
patiently for her to reveal herself, his mind visiting upspoken
places of it's own...

A quizzical appearance furrowed on Raijuta's brows as the woman
suddenly broke into laughter, though he dared not raise his eyes
from the sheets to reveal it to her. What she found funny, he
could only guess, but perhaps it had to do with her appearance.
He wasn't one to hide his body in most cases, finding it
fruitless. There was the possibility that she was laughing at
his timid reaction, though, for him, it was for the sake of
being polite. A million thoughts plagued the Draconian's mind as
Soraya bathed. All of them struck him with a tinge of guilt,
though some more so than others. He shook himself of his thoughts
by going through his own purification process. Sitting
cross-legged on the ground, his body began to glow an intense
white, as dirt, bacteria and other contaminants were removed
from his body, carried away by a steam emitted from his skin.
Soraya emerged not too much later than Raijuta completed the
process. He prepared to brush off her words of thanks, but they
were immediately followed by a question that made his heart
sink. The depth faded from his eyes and his breath shallowed. It
was at that moment that he had to face his own truth; He didn't
want her to go. But why? There was the fact that she shared both
his Tyretian and Draconian roots, but that wasn't it. It was
much deeper than that. And he had known since he lay eyes on her
back at their other home. With a deep breath, he smiled gently,
and took a step toward her, and reached for her hand, clasping
it sincerely with both of his own. "You should know that I'm in
no rush to send you away. This is your home too."
He hoped he hadn't come across as too forward his this
statement, but it was as much as he could offer as far as
discretion. There was no denying what he felt in that moment,
even knowing it wouldn't be reciprocated. He had done what he
promised, and now she would rush back to where her heart was. It
was the way things had always been. But Raijuta had no time for
sob stories, even his own. He needed to sort out his feelings,
and bottle the one's that were useless, as he had been trained
to do his whole life. Showing emotion on the battlefield could
only lead to death...

The Blonde haired Draconian had trouble deciphering the woman's
actions... It wasn't as his experience dictated at all! She
showed a million emotions, but they delivered absolutely NO
information! When she withdrew her hand from his, he accepted
that he had gone too far. He had disrespected her in some way,
which was the last thing he had wished. A silent, icy sigh
escaped his lips as majestic green eyes fell to the ground. When
she growled, however, she delivered him with confusion. She
wasn't growling at him... The timing was unnatural, and she
wasn't even looking at him. What was going on in her head? He
wanted to ask her, but was unable, everything from his legs to
his vocal cords was frozen. Oh, the Irony...
He accepted the reality that he had foretold in his mind as she
walked away from him, gathering her things. She was ready to
return to the Tyretian home; And without a word, it would
seem... Had he truly offended her that much? Was his offer for
her to stay as long as she wished too much? Surely they had
known each other long enough that that couldn't be the case...
Buy then, her actions all but confirmed it. The anger in her
eyes as she approached him. It was the only thing that made
sense. When she raised her hand to slap him, he didn't flinch,
nor attempt to catch her hand. He would accept the contact.
However, it did not come. Instead, he found her pressed against
him in an embrace somewhat more intimate than he would expect
from her. Suddenly finding himself capable of movement, his arms
found their way around her, as he returned her gaze. His world
now existed in a haze of confusion, and he was unsure of what to
do about it. "Please..." He said to the woman, his voice soft,
and caring as always. "Tell me what's wrong..." He removed a few
loose strands of hair from his face and bent his head forward,
resting his forehead on hers. By now she should know, he was
going to be there, regardless..

Her silence was more revealing than her words ever could have
been. For the first time since her awakening, her body language
made sense. She was as lost and confused as he was. She was
angry with herself for being so uncertain, and just as he longed
to be closer to her, she too longed to be held by him, not just
physically, but in a deeper way... This realization didn't bring
a smile to the Draconian's face, however. It was a bittersweet
moment. Her heart was promised to another. Another who, in some
way, he was to consider family. How could he pursue such a
fantasy? It wasn't right. But his heart had been abandoned many
times, and he couldn't abandon it himself. So when the Draconian
beauty leaned forward, He did the same. His hand met gently,
with the side of her face, and his lips collided with hers. A
tender kiss that could mean everything or nothing at all...
But, even if only for this moment, the two would belong to
eachother, sharing in a desperate fear, that had likely been
haunting them both since her arrival. But as every other, this
moment would come to an end, as the woman turned her head away,
and broke their embrace. She was writhing with shame for what
she had felt, what she had done, even knowing that he had been
the one who had kissed her. Did he feel shame as well? Of
course, But there was another feeling that overshadowed his
guilt; Satisfaction. Soraya felt guilty, regardless of who's
arms she rested in, but Raijuta felt right. This was no
accident. Raijuta hadn't found the one he seeked in the Tyretian
home. He found the one he was meant to find... He gently lifted
her chin with his index finger and looked her in the eye,
sincerity shining behind the emerald green orbs. "Don't
apologize." He said. Feelings couldn't be avoided. If they
could, she never would have come to him with her problem in the
first place.
He believed this wholeheartedly, and he would live by it. "I was
the one who kissed you, so if one of us is wrong, it's me. I
won't, however, apologize for the feelings that lead to my
actions, nor should you." His left arm fell from around the
woman, stopping briefly to rest on her hip, before breaking
contact. "I've put you in an awkward position..." He said,
taking a few steps back. He turned and looked out his window to
see several of the dragons roaming together. In terms of spirit,
their kind belonged there, but in terms of heart...

She wasn't alone. She never had been. From day one they had
traveled the same path; The path of friends destined for so much
more. But what was that "more?" It was uncertain, and that was
what tore at Raijuta's heart as he looked Soraya in the eye. It
was a road full of questions, and void of answers. Full of
passion, and void of reason. It was unfair... Her words were
true in their own way. Cliche, but true... What made anyone else
more entitled than he? He who shared a history with her far
longer than their... Family... He who shared her spirit, who
knew her pain, and who couldn't bring himself to tear away from
her...
As she grabbed her things, He was sure that their moment had
passed. That their history would most likely become a memory,
destined to be locked away in the back of her mind for the sake
of her future. Even when she started to reach for him, she
couldn't, taking the proper road, and grabbing hold of her
things instead. It was as if something faded away from the
Draconian in that moment, for his body temperature rose
slightly. Outside, even Xanther could feel that something was
off with his master. But then, something Raijuta hadn't
anticipated happened. The woman's belongings hit the ground, and
questions flew from her lips like fire.
'Why did I kiss you? What did you do to deserve this? You stole
my heart! You disappeared, and then you showed up again, and
took the breath from my lungs. You were everything I wanted! You
gave me no choice....' But the words never escaped his lips, for
as soon as they parted, they were met with her own. This time,
however, he didn't hold back; Arms quickly wrapped around the
small of her back. His heart pounded through his chest as parted
lips gave way to his cool tongue, which would dance with her own
playfully. The tender kiss of last was this time replaced by one
filled with passion and longing. Feelings he had likely felt far
longer than she. He made no attempt to break himself away from
the woman, as he glided with her across the bedroom floor and
toward his semi-made bed, paying no mind to the items she had
dropped on the ground. He had given her a chance to walk away,
and she chose not to accept. So what would happen next?
