Luna(anika) and Mitch

The sound of rustling leaves, deep growls, crunching leaves
under the feet of animals, and a bright blue light that filled
the forest. A sky filled with fireflies, as many as the stars,
and a large round moon with no clouds. The moon this day was not
happy nor sad just giving out its light so the creatures of the
morning could see their way. Deep grunts rolled through the
forest as a fight for the right of leader ship continued between
packs. Muscle bunched and rolled as slim black legs pushed a
moonlight wolf through the forest with slim front legs to keep
the wold steady. A long fluffy white tail trailed after the
sleek white wolf as it ran through the forest to the hunting
grounds. She knew why the packs where fighting the hunters would
have to go out to hunt for the many packs that had joined in the
arena.
A few other wolves, dark grey in color all the way to the
darkest midnight, ran along with her in the trees. They where
spread out as to not miss the hunted creatures. She was not the
leader nor did she want to be. To her hunting alone was the best
hunt out of them all. They had roped her into hunting with them
by flanking her to run with them. Sharp grey eyes looked right
and left to stair at the wolves that where not in the pack she
had associated herself with. Males looking for females to join
their packs more than likely. Making sure to keep her eyes open
she stopped on top of a hill to let the others run a head of
her. She lifted her muzzle to the sky to scent the air before
bring it down to the ground to track the scent of a heard of
deer. Seeing as they moved to the east, she threw her head back
and let out a high pitched howl.

Moonlight filtered through the web of roots that covered the
small den where a lone she-wolf lay curled up against the chill
of the night air. The shadows it created caused her tawny fur to
appear slightly mottled in random places. Yawning she lifted her
head and pricked her hears toward the sound of howling in the
distance. "Time for hunting already?" she thought to herself as
she crawled out of the den and stretched out, revealing her
stranged shaped markings across her back. Deep chestnut lines
crisscrossed to form an X-shape across her shoulders just above
a teardrop marking of the same color that stretched all the way
down her back to the base of her tail. She also had white
stockings on all four legs and white underfur as well. Every
wolf in her area knew of her markings and what they entold, and
most of them tended to avoid her, even going so far as to
driving her from the edge of their borders. But hunting time was
always different. It was the only time the she-wolf was allowed
to travel in peace without worry of being attacked. Deciding she
had spent enough time in her den for one day, the she-wolf
trotted off toward the sound of the howling to hunt for herself
and see what new wolves had joined the area. Keeping her head
low, she sniffed the ground for any signs of prey or other
wolves nearby. Finally scenting a small rabbit, she took off,
following the scent at a fast pace, tail swishing out behind
her. When she got close enough to actually see her prey, the
she-wolf broke out into a dead sprint after the furry creature,
following its erratic movements with as much speed and agility
as an expert hunter. Zoning in for the kill, she opened her jaws
wide, only to be stopped short by another wolf who was after the
same kill. The she-wolf skidded to a halt watching the other
wolf snap the rabbit's neck swiftly with disappointment at
having lost such a nice piece of meat.

Slowly and silently, the lone wolf approached his prey. Must be
his lucky day. A buck, a doe and a faun. He was going to eat
well. He leaped at the faun first, digging his fangs into its
neck and twisting, snapping its neck. He quickly flew at the
doe, swiping his claws at her legs, breaking them at the joints,
causing her to call out. He then moved on to the buck, who
slammed his antlers against the pitch black wolf. The wolf
quickly rose and lunged, his jaws wrapping around the bucks neck
and brought it down. He moved to the buck neck and bit down on
it.

Luna bolted after the scent of the deer the males following
after her with their tongues hanging outside their mouths. The
sounds of heavy breathing vibrated around her making her want to
kill them all for silence. A good hunter could not be as loud as
the ones that decided to hunt with her. Smelling a lone wolf not
to far from where she was heading, she turned to lead the pack
away from the wolf only to have one of the males dart after a
rabbit. Once the male had caught the rabbit she noticed the wolf
that was also after the prey. Another young female wolf out
alone in these isolated woods. Growling to the male who had
stolen the rabbit, she looked to the young female.
"Hello" Luna said softly.
She noticed the markings along the she-wolf but didn't find any
significance to them. They where odd marking but many of the
shifters had markings on them. Hearing a crunch not to far from
them, she turned her head to see another lone wolf take down a
few deers. The males in her group instantly again surrounding
the male in attempts to steal a kill. Having no control over the
non pack members there was nothing she could do to stop them
from taking it. Shaking her head with a sigh , she gave warning
to the wolves that there was no honor in stealing.

She shook her head, watching the wolf's behavior. Breathing a
sigh of frustration, the she-wolf turned and began to trot off
to another part of the forest before being overtaken by a pack
of overzealous young male hunters, but was halted in her tracks
at the sound of another wolf's voice. She turned around slowly
and glanced at the white she-wolf before looking to the ground,
ears flattened. Obviously this wolf was a much more experienced
hunter than the others because the she-wolf hadn't heard her
approaching until she spoke, and she appeared much more powerful
too, so the she-wolf didn't want to appear as a threat to her.
"H-hello to you..." she responded in a whine, head down.
Her ears pricked up as she heard the other lone wolf take down
three deer. She was shocked at his strength, as most wolves from
her former pack were not so powerful. When the young hunters
began to surround him, the she-wolf became angry. Still not
looking directly at the white wolf, she asked in a hushed tone,
"Do they always act so recklessly? It isn't right..." she shook
her head.

The black wolf had payed no attention to the others in the area.
That is, not until the males began to surround him. He didn't
mind sharing, despite preferring to be alone, but thieves he
would not settle with. He snarled, glancing at each one, ready
to kill them if they came closer. When one of the females gave a
warning to the males, he glued his eyes to her. Was she the
alpha? He twitched an ear, hearing the more reserved female
speaking.

Luna sighed shaking her head as she watched the males bare fangs
at the lone male wolf. They had not headed her warning at all,
having chosen to ignore her. he hated these wolves that came
into the area every time a new alpha position opened. To live in
the star land, where the arena sat for the fighting of wolves,
was horrible for the ones who just wanted peace. These wolves
where just another pack of dirty rabid creatures that could
shift to human forms with no honor.
"They are not in my command. I would never train up young ones
to be without any honor. The hunt has begun and with every other
hunt a new alpha will be kinged. Wolves from all over come to
the arena bring with them their filth. " Luna snorted
disgustingly.
She spread her legs apart to stair at the pack that roped her in
with them. her white fur began to stand at end her fangs bared
as her muzzle scrunched up to show she meant business. Light
blue markings began to form along her body, the edges of her fur
beginning to go translucent. She open her jaws to let out a
large bark of warning for the wolves to back off or she will
ride them of their existence. They only slunk back closer to the
tree line, but stood their ground to growl back.

"So you are not their alpha then?" she cocked an ear to the
side. "Well that is good to know. I'm not sure I would want to
be around the leader of such wolves."
She bared her teeth in disgust as she watched their behavior,
although she was glad to see that the lone male was willing to
protect his rightful kill. If it had been her in his place, she
would have fled, knowing she couldn't stand up to a group of
males, no matter how inexperienced. She was a good hunter, but
as far as fighting went, the she-wolf was not the strongest. A
low growl sounded from her throat and she pressed her ears back
further to show that she didn't agree with the thieves at all.
The she-wolf's eyes grew wide as she watched the markings appear
across the white wolf's fur. What kind of wolf is she? the
she-wolf wondered in awe. The white wolf's warning bark startled
her out of her anger for a brief moment and even the she-wolf
jerked back a few steps even though the threat wasn't directed
at her. At least the thieves had enough sense to heed that
warning, even if they did retaliate. "Stupid," she muttered,
keeping her head low.

He listened to the goings on of the other wolves. He kept his
red eyes glued to the ones that had gotten close to his kill.
For some reason, his blood was boiling and he wanted to take
them out. He pressed his ears back against his head, one of
which was missing half, and barred his teeth, snarling at the
males. He felt confident enough that he could take the males,
but if the females jumped in, he'd be at a disadvantage. Maybe
take one of them out first. He turned to face the white furred
wolf and let out a loud snarl.

Luna turned her now glowing blue eyes towards the male wolf who
dared to challenge her. Even though she was a loner she did not
allow other wolves to stand up to her so bravely. She was trying
to help the boy and to show his thanks he growls at her. She let
the another warning snarl at the other wolves before they backed
into the tree line out of her sight. To anger her meant certain
death for them. She was a special breed of wolf that long ago
became extinct.
"No I would never lower myself to let my pack act such away. I
am a lone traveler that had found a home in the near by pack.
The hunt has brought these wolves to the land" Luna replied
looking back at the female.
