Listening to the bartender woman, John chuckled and nodded. "I
suppose you're right. It's complicated. I guess in the end, I
just want to be free of it all. To just live life on my terms.
I'd imagine that's what they all feel." Then, tilting his head,
glancing to the other two in the bar, he smirked for a moment
before returning his gaze to the bartender. "I guess I'm crazy,
but it's my dream to touch the stars." Then, listening to her
explain why she couldn't, he brought the bottle to his lips and
took a drink and nodded. "Fair enough. I guess I was a bit
hasty." Then, following her look, he nodded again and chuckled.
"Point taken."
Then, with a sigh, he lightly caressed the side of the bottle,
thinking for a second. "Makes me glad I only ordered a Corona.
I'll have to make this my hangout spot, from now on, if the lady
wouldn't mind seeing a familiar face." He jokingly said,
playfully smiling at her. "What's your favorite drink, for
yourself?"
Glancing to the new girl, John blinked; taking another drink of
his now drastically less full bottle. "Welcome to this bar.
Please have a seat." He smiled, motioning to the stool next to
himself and Andremeda's friend. "Hope you enjoy the atmosphere
here. Drink's on me, for all."

Andres was tending to his drink, thinking about his day at work
when he heard Monae's comment. She had always been harsh toward
guys when they asked her out. He could probably count all the
number of first dates she had been on one one hand. But it
wasn't because she didn't have the opportunities. She turned
almost everyone down. But this she wouldn't use Andres as an
excuse! He turned to the two of them with a slightly inebriated
smile and spokevto the both of them. "Don't let me stop you!" He
said with a laugh. "You can just trade your keys for mine and
I'll walk to your place! Or maybe you could just go for another
day!"
He offered Monae a mischievous smile before turning back to his
drink... A little too fast. The room continued spinning, even
after his head stopped moving. Seriously! What was in that
drink! He slid the cup a few inches away from himself as he
gathered himself, taking a deep breath as he heard the door
open. he turned slowly to see the girl who came into the bar.
She was hot! As Hot as Monae, surprisingly! But it was a
different kind of hot. She was "You could get it right now on
the bar" hot, While Monae was "You could get it every day for
the rest of my life" hot. Monae called her "Kadira..."
Interesting name... Andres paid them no mind though. He instead
took another sip of his drink, continuing to note how things
went in and out of focus.

Kadira was just about to take a seat at her table when Andro and
one of the men at the bar invited her over. Shrugging her
shoulders, she sauntered over and took a seat between the two
men. "Hi guys!" She said happily. "I'm Kadira." She said,
turning to each of them and offering a smile. When the guy on
her left said drinks were on him, her hand hovered over his
head. "He's my favorite!" She said with a giggle.
"Aw! Leaving already? But I came to see you Andro!" She pouted.
"Can you at least take care of me while you're here? I want
something sweet! How about a mudslide? Oh, and it Hector back
there? I want some wings too!" She looked to the two men on
either side of her. "You guys want some? Since my new friend is
buying the drinks I can at least feed you guys!" She gave John a
one handed hug as she spoke the words "New Friend." She was glad
the bar wasn't completely empty. That would have really sucked,
especially with Andro leaving.

"Everybody wishes to be free John, nobody ever wants to pay the
price of freedom. Even being among the stars will cost more than
what you will be willing to pay in the end." Monae's gaze faded
away from the bar for a moment before returning. She could not
allow herself to fall into one of her famous day dreams, not
while she had three, well two, people to entertain at her bar.
"Apology accepted. Thank you for apologizing but you did not
have to honestly."
A smile began to creep over the woman's face until she heard
Andres' voice which caused her to throw a deathly glare in his
direction. "I bet you couldn't even walk to the bathroom without
grabbing onto something or falling down so I don't want to hear
about you trying to walk to my apartment by yourself. Now
shush." Her voice seemed to take a dark turn as she spoke to him
but her eyes held a playful sparkle in them. She did not have it
in her heart to be mean to him for no reason or even with a
reason. For some reason, he held a special place in her heart,
even though sometimes he did not deserve the care that she has
for him.
"Such a good choice! I think I will decorate your glass extra
special just for you! And yes, Hector is in the back and will
take care of your wing cravings tonight." Monae turned her
attention to one of the few female regulars that the woman
actually cared about. The woman walked from behind the bar to
disappear into the back for a moment before reappearing with a
soft smile on her face. "Now on to your mudslide!" She turned
her back to the three patrons to quickly flip a few bottles
above a blender filled with ice. This happened to be her second
favorite drink to make, maybe because she could decorate the
glass any way she liked just to make people smile. The woman
grabbed a bottle of chocolate while the blender made it's
beautiful sound, decorating the inside of the cup with Zebra
stripes then pouring the icy cocktail into the glass and placing
it in front of Kaidra. "I'm sorry that I have to run out on you
tonight but once again, Professor Collingsworth has thrown so
much at us to study that I have to cut my hours short here but
after midterms, I will be here all night again!"

Looking to the bartender, John couldn't help but agree to a
point. "Makes sense. Though, there are some things, mon'Chère,
that simply must be apologized for. One such thing is asking a
lady to a private viewing when she's preoccupied with something
of greater importance." He offered, with a nod and a smile. "I
must say, though, it does beg the question of places hiring,
even for part time, and if any are known." He added, wondering
if she'd catch his ploy, but he wasn't counting on her delving
deeper to find his motive.
With a chuckle, John nodded to the girl who'd hugged him and
returned the one handed hug. "Nice to meet you, Kadira. I'm
John." Then, he chuckled again when she said he was her favorite
and that he was her 'new friend' and followed it up by shaking
his head and smiling. "Silly girl. Think I might like sticking
around this place more in the future."

"If the price of survival is seven years of college and
committing your existence to your career, what's the price for
freedom?" The question wasn't really posed to either of the
others at the bar. It was more of a thought, accidentally spoken
aloud. Was bar talk always this deep? Usually, if Andres was at
the bar alone, he and Monae would have every day discussions,
like plans for the weekend and such. If this was what it was
like with other people around, he would surely have to visit
more often.
"I probably couldn't right now." He admitted to his old friend.
"But at least I'm smart enough to wait until I sober up to try
to walk around town." His tolerance was neither high, nor low.
He sat right on the line of average. But he was a smart drinker.
He knew his limits, and he knew when to quit. That was what
usually made him the babysitter when they went out to drink.
Things seemed to liven up a bit when Kadira joined the table.
John offered to pay for everyone's drinks, which was probably a
mistake. Andres wouldn't have had to pay for his own drinks, but
now they would probably show up on John's bill.
"I'm Andres." He said to the lady, indirectly speaking to John
as well. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Kadira then offered to
get wings for everyone. Those two seemed to be hitting it off
nicely.
"Wel if John is covering the drinks, and Kadira is feeding
everyone, the least I can do is cover the tip." He reached into
his wallet and pulled out a $50 dollar bill, motioning a 'come
hither' motion to Monae before reaching around and sliding it
into her back pocket. Surely then she would laugh, slap his
hand, and tell him she would sue him for sexual harassment. This
game had been going on since high school. Andres was sure he was
her best tipper. Working in a bar surrounded by three colleges
had to be tough. College students didn't have money to tip the
way they should. It was his way of helping her out. Both bills
combined shouldn't come to more than 30-35 dollars.
Suddenly, the urge to use the bathroom -did- hit Jasper. He
excused himself from the table, and began walking, one foot
loosely in front of the other as he focused on his steps. He was
a little more drunk than he had realized, but he was still
alright. Only once, did he stumble a bit, and have to catch
himself on the wall. After a few moments, he returned, slightly
more oriented, and returned to his seat. Some wings would do him
good. It was only then that he realized he hadn't eaten since
breakfast.

"YAY" Kadira exclaimed when Andro told her that she would make
her drink special. Andro made the best drinks ever! Not that
Kadira had a lot of experience with bars. Being only 21 she only
knew the ones in the area. She hadn't had much time to explore,
but of the bartenders she had met, Andro was definitely her
favorite.
She tried to watch as the woman made the drink, but with her
back covering the blender, Kadira couldn't figure out exactly
how she made the drink. Guess she wouldn't be making it at any
house parties! When the drink was placed in front of her, her
eyes sparkled widely in excitement! It was more like a milkshake
than an alcoholic beverage! "Well since you're ditching me
today, you should hang out with me this weekend!" She said with
a slight pout. The two weren't really friends. They had never
hung out outside the bar, but why not? Nothing wrong with making
a new friend! Especially one you already know you get along with
to some degree!
Kadira smiled to the men on either side of her. Making new
friends was definitely one of her favorite things. She kind of
took Andres for one of those guys who would take advantage of
their kindness, but he found a way to contribute as well! She
silently commended him for that, and noted the way that he gave
the bartender her tip. The two definitely had a thing going on,
but what kind of thing was the question?
It made no difference. It wasn't as if she had any plans to
pursue him or anything. But she liked playing relationship
detective. It was one of her favorite games! She noted John's
statement, and raised an inquisitive eyebrow toward him. "Oh
really?" She asked, challenge ringing in her melodic voice. "And
why is that?"

"The only thing more important right now is studying for my
mid-terms before our winter break and making sure that I will be
able to have sleep in the late night/early morning after
homework and studying post work." Her eye brow arched at the
man's question; she caught the man's attempt to work with her
but the bar was already over staffed and she barely made it onto
the schedule as is. "Sorry Johnny but we already have too many
people on the books and I do not know about other bars because
of a conflict of interest." Monae's eyes traveled over the man's
face in slight concern. How could they go from a deep
conversation to such a shallow exchange. "I have a question for
you to think about until I see you again, what do you think the
price of freedom is?"
Andres tried to get her attention for paying the tip in a
drunken yet sexy way, which partly worked. He did get her
attention and the 50 note did make its way into her back pocket
but his fingers lingered there for longer than needed. Monae
knew that he expected to have her hand high five his face but
this time, the joke would go in a different direction...."If you
are trying to find something back there other than more jean
material, you will be disappointed or excited. Not really sure
how you will react since I have successfully gotten you drunk
for the first time since we were freshmen in college." Monae
walked away to grab the wings from the order window after she
finished teasing Andres. Oh how she couldn't help but find a way
to make the man slightly miserable while causing happiness at
the same time but when he stood to walk, most likely to the
bathroom, she couldn't help but watch...
A coy smirk crossed the woman's lips as she watched the man
attempt to walk unassisted to the bathroom only to fail when the
wall became his friend. She knew there would be a slight
argument when it was time to go home. He would want to be the
big macho man who could hold is own but she knew that she would
have to support him with her small stature.
Monae had a soft spot for Kadira. Such a young kid even though
Monae herself is only a few years older. "Here are you wings,
darlin'. And here is my number so that we can keep in touch on
my rare days off to hang out." Bending over the counter ever so
slightly, Monae writes her number on the back of one of the bar
napkins. *So cliche* She thought as she slid the napkin over to
Kadira with a soft smile. Somehow, Kadira reminded Monae of
herself when she was around the age of 17; the woman in front of
her held a sense of curiosity and wonder while still being able
to find a way to make it all seem so attractive but something
held an air of shade somehow. It could be because Monae doesn't
fully know Kadira or just her natural distrust for the female
gender after the hurt that she went through. "Make sure to keep
this kid in line. I feel like John is secretly a heart of gold
wrapped in a slightly womanizing skin." Winking at Kadira, Monae
giggles softly to herself before turning to talk to her fellow
bartender for a moment.
Monae turned away from Jenny with a soft smile as she walked
toward Andres with his keys in her hand. "Time to go Tippy. No
more baby sitting the counter or the quarter of your drink
that's left, which by the way, is now mine." She picked up his
glass and quickly swallowed the rest of his sweet alcohol with a
smile. "Two paradise islands and a mudslide on John's tab Jen.
It was nice to meet you John. Always amazing to see you Kadira."
She wandered over to Andres' side and brought his arm around her
shoulders to get him to stand up and leave with her.

Glancing to Andre, John nodded slightly. "Hey, Andres." He
chuckled, before relaxing again. It wasn't often that John was
social, and even less often when he decided to actually be
loudly vocal, but he figured this would do well for the time
being; plus though he was drunk, Andres seemed a bit harmless to
begin with.
Looking to Kadira, John chuckled; obviously bemused by her
challenge. "Good atmosphere, fairly decent clientele, and the
views aren't half bad. Plus, it's the only place I know of, to
come, after a hard day of college type work. What of yourself,
though, little lady?" He retorted the challenge, grinning
playfully.
"Then I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for an open time
slot." He chuckled playfully, while listening to her. "It's
alright. I'll be patient. I've got nothing but time on my hands,
it seems. Next class isn't for a few days." When she went to
leave, he nodded and shook his head slightly, still smiling. "It
was nice to meet you too, Andromeda. I'll keep that question in
mind."

A smirk played on Andres' face when Monae made her statement.
She changed it up on him, and he wasn't expecting it! No doubt
playing on his drunken state. But he wouldn't be shaken up so
easily. "Something tells me I'd be disappointed. Not much else
back there, you know?" He joked as if to say she had no ass,
despite them both knowing she was quite shapely. It had been a
topic of discussion many times, and it wasn't uncommon for him
to compliment her on her backside. But this time, he wouldn't
give her the satisfaction. She would prove him a liar, however,
when she turned and walked away to gather the wings. His eyes
followed for a moment, and he chuckled.
When they were in school, Andres had a huge crush on Monae. He
always dreamed of the day that they would end up together. That
was, until the first time she asked him for boy advice. That was
the moment his dreams came crashing down, and she became his
best friend; Something he never wanted to lose. So he might
steal a glance every now and again, but he had no intentions of
pursuing her romantically. He wasn't willing to risk what they
had built.
He thought back to that night their freshman year. Somehow they
ended up on the roof of the student union, looking up at the
sky. That was the night that he told her how beautiful she was.
He came inches from confessing everything to her, but luckily
she changed the subject just before he had the chance. They fell
asleep on the roof that warm Spring night, and all the others
thought that they snuck off to have sex. They spent the rest of
the semester trying to convince everyone that they weren't
together. After that he never had more than a drink or two in
her presence.
When the wings came, he took three of them and a breadstick and
placed them on a napkin, munching on them as Monae got herself
ready. It wasn't a lot, but it helped a bit. He didn't want to
take too much, despite Kadira saying that it was her treat.
Besides, He was feeling pretty damn good! Why kill his buzz so
soon?
Deep brown eyes narrowed when Monae finished his drink. With her
low tolerance he wouldn't be surprised if that alone was enough
to get her drunk. Then they'd have a whole new problem! "I was
gonna finish that, you know..." He said, getting up and
beginning the walk toward the door. He focused on his steps
carefully, only stumbling a bit once or twice, but never
falling. The floor felt like a funhouse, slightly tilting from
left to right as his body searched for equilibrium. At the door,
he turned back to the two that remained at the bar. "Nice
meeting you guys!" He called back, before struggling to open the
door, and hold it for Monae. Once he was safe in the passenger
seat, he turned to Monae and smiled. "If I didn't know anybetter
I'd say you've given up on dating."
