Re: Metropolis [RL-RP]

She moved through the crowd behind him, the whole time her
insides tangling and her brain screaming at her that she
shouldn't be here. This wasn't her type of thing. She should
have just went to the bar or something. Maybe it wouldn't have
been so crowded. All of her doubts however, soon faded away,
when he lead her into the room in the back, which for the most
part was quite, aside the scattered people talking. This wasn't
half bad. She let out a relieved sigh. The tattoo on his arm
was really interesting. She wished she could get a better look
at it.
He explained that the room was sound proof for those who didn't
really get into the music. She nodded and followed him as he
lead her to a table, taking a seat in the chair he pulled out.
For the first time she lifted her beer to her lips, the cool
bitter liquid flowing between them. It was just what she needed.
She sat her beer down and smiled across the table to him. "I
don't believe I had a chance to tell you my name. It's Rae." She
extended her hand across the table to him.

He watched as she sat and took a sip of his drink as she did the
same with hers. Setting it down as she spoke eyes staring
contently into hers. Rae was her name, lovely name to fit a
lovely girl. As she held her hand out he took it and shook, his
skin was soft, but also a little rough with the firmness of a
man whom worked with his hands. "Its nice to meet you Rae." His
accent made the R in her name a little softer and elongated the
E at the end.
"If you couldnt hear me earlier my name is Connal. Though most
here tand to call me red, or the rooster. What brings you into
the club? Not to sound rude but this doesnt exactly seem like it
be your scene. Though Im the first person to admit I kinda
detest the idea of scenes. I wish we could go whever we please
and still fit in despite personal preference or appearance."

She smiled. "Well it's very nice to meet you Connal. It's nice
to find conversation in this place. I wasn't expecting to stay
very long anyway. I didn't know a room like this existed for a
place like this. It's not usually a place I go. But I'm glad I
did." She chuckled and took a drink of her beer. "It's a nice
change from the ordinary."
She thought about her home life. It wasn't the greatest. And
most normal people would run. But not her. She had to deal with
it. She had to be the adult about it. Even if she had to put her
own life on hold for it. She wished she could do something with
her music. It used to be her dream to sing her songs on a stage
in front of a building full of people. But instead she would go
every day. Singing her songs in the park. Just to make a few
extra dollars. She couldn't keep a job because she needed a
flexible schedule to deal with her family life. She looked
across the table at Connal. What it would be like to find
someone. To share her life with. But she didn't have time for
that. She had a family to take care of.

"Of course!" Kadira was always high energy. It was simply the
way her personality had always been. It made it difficult for
many people to spend long periods of time with her because they
simply couldn't keep up. "I'm a woman. I'm always right!" she
feigned her best "high and mighty" expression, with her eyes
closed, and her nose all the way up in the air.
Tranquila was the most adorable thing in the world to Kadira.
Not because she was so pretty, but rather because she seemed so
unaccustomed to everything; So innocent! Even her broken english
just made Kadira's heart melt! Colombia. So she was speaking
Portugese. That was definitely going to make communicating
harder. But at least they were doing ok so far!
And then John jumped in, trying to offer Tranquila a drink.
Kadira admired his kindness, but couldn't help but giggle at his
clumsy attempt to communicate. With a gentle hand on his knee,
she shook her head. "No silly! Comprendo means "I understand" if
you want to say "You understand, it's comprendes." After
completing two semesters of College level Spanish, she was at
least adept in conjugation. The bar was starting to get more
crowded, as well as the dance floor. Kadira didn't want to stop
Tranquila from enjoying her food, but she wanted to get in on
the action. "Do you dance?" She asked, gesturing out toward the
dance floor.

Tranquila noticed the distinctive personality traits of the two
who kept her company at the bar. The woman, Kadira was very
chipper and expressed her bubbly attitude outwardly without any
care of the strangers in the area or the one she just invited to
share her food with. This was actually putting Tranquila at
ease. The man seemed reserved; in any other setting, the man
would seem have been to himself, according to Tranquila anyway.
The dynamics of the relationship through body language seemed to
suggest that, even though John was the quiet macho type, Kadira
was the one keeping him together. She noticed the hand on his
knee before her eyes returned back toward them.
John's tone seemed condescending in a way as he spoke to
Tranquila. It was as if he was trying to communicate with a
child. She understood that it was a language barrier, but he
didn't have to be so insulting in his tone. Of course, Kadira
corrected him before Tranquila had the time to actually reply to
his question. Her eyebrows, however, had the time to furrow due
to his lack of sensitivity. Through this all, it was discovered
that Kadira spoke a little Portuguese, which pleased the woman
and made her tanned face light up in excitement. "A drink, is
nice.." She said before her attention was stolen by Kadira again
asking for a dance. Of course, Tranquila could dance and loved
to as well, but she didn't know how to dance to this kind of
music. But, oh well. Why not have a little fun and bonding time
while out on a mission to find her sister, no? Maybe they could
be of some substantial help. The person she asked previously
lead her here knowing that it was a popular spot in which
someone might know her sister. Standing to her feet, Tranquila
kicked her shoes off and took Kadira's hand. "I'll try.. This
music not what I know.."

Connal looked at Rae's eyes as she spoke and nodded taking a sip
of his own drink. "I can see how this would be a little
itimidating to new people. If i were in your shoes I probably
wouldnt have wanted to stay long either." He looked over here
slowly raising a brow. Something about her looked familir. He
couldnt put his finger on it but he knew he had seen her
somewhere before. After A few silent momnets his eyes widen and
he sets his drink down.
"I know you looked familiar. Your the lass that plays the old
acoustic guitar in the park. You sing dont you? I eat my lunch
there in the afternoons, I consider it a lucky day if it happens
to be at the same time your playing. Though I must look
completely different without all my construction gear on."

Blinking, he looked to Kadira and felt disappointed in himself
for getting it wrong. "Oi..." He sighed as he shook his head,
hating that he'd made himself feel like an idiot. "Thank you, at
least, for explaining that." Then, he paused for a second. "Knew
I should've taken that class in college.."
Then, looking to Tranquilia, and back to Kadira, he realized he
didn't really fit into this current conversation and figured he
should apologize, at least for making himself look like an
idiot; or very likely, more. Looking back to Tranquilia, he
nodded and spoke again. "I'm sorry." He didn't really know what
else to say, but this entire situation was beginning to feel at
least slightly uncomfortable for him.

It was clear that Tranquila was being cautious. She was watching
Kadira and John, studying their mannerisms, and determining
whether they were safe company. Kadira couldn't blame her; After
all, they were strangers in a completely different land than she
was used to. Kadira had to admit, sometimes she needed that
trait. She was often entirely too open with any and everyone she
met, even her interactions with John, Andres, and Tranquila were
proof of that.
But that was just the way she was! She saw the best in people on
sight, which made her excellent at making friends. John on the
other hand, was a bit socially awkward, but Kadira felt like he
was a good guy, and enjoyed his company. When he apologized to
Tranquila, Kadira tried unsuccessfully to stop herself from
giggling. He really had the best of intentions. But he had
probably never been in a situation like this one. He was trying
his best though, and she had to commend him for that.
When Tranquila said she didn't really know the music, Kadira
shook her head. "That's fine!" she said, taking the woman by the
hand and leading her to the dance floor, where she began to
dance, until she saw John still at the bar. "What are you
waiting for sour-puss? Come on!" She waved him over to join the
two. Hopefully he would join them, but he was so reserved, she
thought he might deny her. Regardless, she swayed her hips to
the music, starting to feel the effects of her second drink as a
wave of calm flowed into her movements. There were a lot of
things she wanted to know about her companions, but for now, she
just wanted to have a good time!

Tranquila wasn't really accustomed to the music that was being
played currently; it all lacked the particular rhythm that she
was used to, but it was still rather enjoyable music. Being one
who was somewhat unaccustomed to dancing; the moves always
seemed to come naturally. She spent most of her time caring for
her father and being raised in his image; a woman who could care
for herself, fix things, cook, clean, and care for others. She
was even taught how to fight. But dancing? Nah. It was in the
blood, not in muscle memory. The way her his swayed against the
body of Kadira would have made it seemed she was a seasoned vet.
The way her arms moved rhythmically with the music would give
the impression that Tranquila knew the song that was being
played. Soon, the immigrant who just washed ashore; outfit not
fitting for the place she calls a dance floor, suddenly making
waves with the other woman amidst the crowd. She was starting to
have so much fun that she didn't even notice that Kadira had
called her friend over to dance with them. The drinks were
settling in, the atmosphere was addicting, the dancing was
thrilling, at least Tranquila could forget about the bad news
that is her life for a few hours, right? Just dance and enjoy
herself for a change, hell, it's been several years since she
been away to actually enjoy herself.

Hearing Kadira call him, sighing to himself, John rose from the
bar and turned to the two women. "Oh alright.." He chuckled,
making his way over to the two and nodded. "I'm here now. I
guess lets get this party started." Then, he smiled and began to
dance; letting the music flow through himself as though he were
an empty canvas being washed by the rains of a dance master. In
truth this was the first time John had ever been on a dance
floor but he'd been taught by his older brother; Landon, and
sister, Katalina; whom were both excellent dancers. Figuring the
night was still young, dancing couldn't be that bad; definitely
worth a shot to see if he could dance better than he could
apparently communicate verbally.
The music had almost made him forget his earlier failure as he
smiled to the two women; his intoxication to the music beginning
to spread through his body. "Whoo! Excellent tunes man." He
spoke without hesitation, though instantly internally regretting
what he'd just said; hating that he'd just made himself sound
like someone from the 80s, or some surfer. Shrugging it off,
though, John started to cut loose; attempting to fall in line
with his two beautiful companions.
