The barkeep gave him a look that could kill and Seporo, in his
normal childhood manner, stuck his tongue out at the man from
around the straw in his mouth before he drew his arm back and
flung the half empty box straight against the keeps head,
sending red juice flying everywhere as he stared at the man.
"Fuck you, Mich." Seporo stared hard, those two separate colored
eyes burning with a fire as the barkeep simply huffed and went
to cleaning himself up. He never even turned his gave back
around to the woman as he chuckled lightly and shrugged. "No,
you don't. but I suppose there is a first time for everything,
yes?" He turned his face back around, that once stern look
softening in an instant as he gave her a giant grin. "Seporo
Darkfire. Son to Dems Darkfire." He extended his hand out for a
hand shake, but judging by her character he was pretty sure she
might ignore the request.
"This is my bar." Mich scoffed from his juice soaked corner and
Seporo flicked his finger, a bottle coming off the shelf and
whizzing past the barkeeps head, shattering on the floor at his
feet. "Mich! Be more careful.." Seporo shook his head as
everyone stared at the barkeep, believing the man had smashed
the bottle on accident and ruined their moments of conversation
for a few seconds.

She watched the barkeep, he obviously had an opinion for the man
in front of her. She could see him glaring at the man, was that
disapproval? If he didn't like the man on the counter, why
didn't he do something about it? It was fucking strange how
these people dealt with their issues. They refrained from fixing
it, hoping that a sour look would fix it. X was not surprised
when the man threw a box at the mans head. That... that reaction
she could deal. She kept her eyes on the stranger doing the
throwing, even if her gaze only hit the back of his head. There
was no reason for it to be anywhere else. She could observe her
surroundings easily without her gaze sweeping the room. And the
people in the bar were as dangerous as the would the floor was
made of. She let out a dry chuckle, so short it sounded like a
quick exhale. ...A first time for everything.
Her eyes bore into him further, calculating his expressions and
how he held himself. She did not say anything to his comment,
finding nothing to say. After a while, one forgets about
first-times. After a good while of routine. As X had. Her lips
opened slightly, but he probably would not be able to catch that
slight movement from under her mask. He introduced himself, and
she continued gazing at him, without a twinkle in her eye. "X.
Is my name." Her voice was smooth and quiet. It was like a a
freshly de-flowered virgin. Barely used, and raw. It did not
fluctuate with emotion, nor did anything but her lips move. With
her mask, it looked as if nothing at all had moved.
"Why is he doing nothing?" She asked, referring to the bark
keep. Oh how she wished he would just do something. Something in
her veins itched to move. She wanted to take the pretty man in
front of her home with her and tie him up, dead. She wanted him
to sit by her at dinner and listen to her. The day, all they do
is listen. She raised her hands to just under her ear and
unclasped the leather mask at her face, pulling it down to
reveal a composed yet striking face. She let her lips curl into
a very subtle, and bemused smile.

Seporo nodded, his gaze still observing the creature in front of
him for any signs that could tip him off to any information
about her. The fact she wore a mask was interesting to say the
least, and the fact she carried herself with such precision and
grace could allure to some other aspects about her. The chuckle,
so short is sounded light a light gasp before a sharp inhale of
breath, yet the sound was soft enough that not many who didn't
pay attention would even register it as such. Everything told
him anything, but with her, it seemed lightly more obscure. The
smell of death hung in the air around her and created a strong
aura that struck him as odd for a woman, but none too uncommon
throughout these realms he had come to find out.
He stood for a second, flipping her singular letter back and
forth in his head, recalling passages on the symbolism that
surrounded that one little letter, X. "An odd name, but it seems
fitting for someone with such lax emotions." He gave her a
smile, his teeth flashing white as he thought about it. "So what
do you do for a living?" He pranced around her question of why
Mich stood there, cleaning the floors that Seporo had made a
mess of, mumbling softly under his breath about Seporo and how
he was going to tell Dems how he was treated under his son's
shift. Seporo ignored him, selective hearing blotching out the
bartender so he could more focus on the woman before him.
When she took down the veil that hid her face, removing the mask
from the last part of her face, his eyes finally pieced together
the puzzle of her looks. Strong eyes, a defined chin, and lips.
For a lack of a better word at that moment, she was striking.
Seporo waved to a seat next to the one he had found himself
standing before, nodding. "Care to join me at the bar for a
drink?"

The chill of the evening air left a lingering uneasiness in the
pit of Cal’s stomach. The stars above her danced in sparkling
beauty and the romantic cast of the moonlight mocked her
restlessness. Allowing her eyes to seize a quick view of the
night sky, Cal’s nostrils flared as a sigh escaped her. Walking
all night had exhausted her leg muscles past the point of pain.
For a moment the woman thought about stalling to rest against a
tree but a faint flicker caught her eye at the end of the broken
dirt path. Despite being impregnated with wisdom well beyond her
years a childish curiosity beckoned her forward. When the woman
arrived at the end of the path she was standing in front of a
building.
The Dancing Dog’s Inn.
Nipping at her lip with her teeth, she attempted to suppress the
nagging curious demon in her but it was futile. No sooner than
her fingers had brushed against the door handle the door swung
wide open. Taking a startled step back, her hand strayed to the
hidden weapon kept strapped to her thigh but a cheery voice
stopped her.
“Welcome!” said an elderly woman holding a towel and a shot
glass. “Would you like a drink?”
Cal stepped into the gaping doorway and replied to the woman,
“Whiskey, please.” The bartender stalked off behind the counter,
leaving Cal to choose a seat. Glancing around at the other
filled tables, she took a secluded seat at the very end of the
bar counter.

Magic is just a simple creation, but a rather complex creation
to master, what you wish to learn is beyond your comprehension.
Those very words are what drove him to become who he was today,
Zeramere, the lightning sage, title after title followed the man
naming the very destruction he caused after him, the scorching
land, tonight though was just him and the gleaming stars simple
structures forming menageries of lights that gleamed and danced
through the night sky. His bare feet danced through the soil,
moving across the ground at a simple and steady pace, each step
dragging him closer and closer to his destination, but did he
have a destination was the very question he asked himself. What
was in store for tonight was the very question that followed,
the trees of the forest began to stir, the night owls began to
return from their daily slumber inching the old mage to quicken
his pace down the path, the familiar female voice shot through
his head a simple suggestion all she spoke.
“We better go these creatures are rather scary.”
A sigh breathed through his parted lips, a game of cat and mouse
he’d have to play if he didn’t move faster, he pulled the dark
cloak tighter around his body and began to dart forward, his
feet making no sound as they dug into the earth, the farther
away he got from the waking of the nightly creatures the deeper
he seemed to dwell to those that were waiting. A light at the
end of the darkness awakened him from his scary encounter and
finally his feet carried him into a clearing, trees lay around
him but the creatures retreated seeming to realize that for now
their prey was gone, his sapphire eyes seemed to watch the
clearing stopping upon the sign rested high above the door of a
building.
The Dancing Dog Inn
With one heave Zeramere pushed the door open, revealing the
alcohol ridden inn, the smell of alcohol wafted up to the mages
nose first, the eerie music catching his ears second, he stepped
inside expecting no more than a bunch of drunk patrons waltzing
around like gorillas, but instead he first caught site of a
bartender preparing a drink for one customer, all the other
customers seemed to be filled on drinks except a female sitting
alone at a table, he watched her for a second before the
bartender looked towards him.
“Can I help you dear?”
An elderly woman with seemingly white hair caught his gaze as he
spoke, his voice seemingly lighter than normal or rather hidden.
“Just a water for me” he gazed back around and realized while it
was late at night it seemed that every table was filled leaving
only one seat open, he breathed a light sigh and made his way
towards the back towards the woman who was alone he took a
second glance around making sure there were no more seats before
speaking towards the woman, “I apologize but every other seat
seems taken mind if I take a seat?” He watched and waited or the
woman’s answer knowing that he might have to speak more than he
normally did I he did sit but that was lie for him.

A man’s voice obstructed the process of her thoughts, causing
mild confusion to stir as the woman blinked several mental
pictures away. Glancing up, Cal measured the man from head to
toe wondering what he had said since her lack of alertness had
kept her from hearing his question. Realizing his gaze was
steady and set upon her waiting for an answer, she glanced
around as if the answer would dissolve in front of her eyes. It
did, in a roundabout way, because as the woman’s eyes danced
around the room she noticed every other seat was preoccupied.
With an apologetic hint of a smile and a quick nod of her head,
Cal waved her hand towards the seat beside her.
“By all means,” she said. The softness of her voice gave way to
the tiredness of the past view day’s events. Cal’s voice was
deeper and rougher than most other women her age. Many boys,
when she was younger, poked fun at her when she spoke, but
afterwards she made sure their jaws were too broken to do so
again.
After a few seconds later, the bartender came up again and
placed the whiskey in front of the woman. Before she left, Cal
took noticed her suspiciously glance at the man’s and Cal’s
seating arrangement but did not inquire either of them. Not
wanting to seem rude, Cal cleared her voice and casually
introduced herself.
“My name is Cal.”
Weighing the glass in her hand, her nose wrinkled at the smell.
This would wake her up and chase away the cold but goodness did
she hate alcohol. Pinching her nose, she washed down the bitter
taste in her mouth and swallowed. A man behind them laughed out
and said something smart about her being a pussy but she ignored
the crude remark and took another swig.

Finally he received an answer, she didn’t mind which gave him a
second to sit in the chair before her voice rose and her name
slipped forth, Cal, probably lesser than her actual name maybe a
simpler version than what her real name was. He nodded when she
spoke her name and watched as she seemed to chug down her
whiskey with a bit of distaste, his eyes closed for a second and
a slight breath passed through his lips before words slipped
forth from him seeming to flow like a song, he had a birth name,
he even had many titles but the question remained for what this
girl to call me, this Cal was to call him by what she chose but
he figured he should give her a name to call him by.
“Names are but that, a word given to you at birth based on your
parents preferences, given to me at birth was the name Zeramere.
That name though only defines me by what I look like and wear on
a daily basis and what those that personally know what lays
beneath this tattered cloak, but those that do not just simply
call me The Lightning Sage, but me as a person has my own name
for myself, and it defines who or what I am, I am but a simple
traveler or what I call myself, The Wanderer.”
He took a sip of the water that had been put in front of him
during his simple statement watching the woman and those around
him wondering why so many were out so late, wondering what could
bring so many people to this simple bar in the dead of night,
his kind naturally seeked for knowledge but he himself seemed to
seek what should lay buried beneath everything it was buried
beneath. His eyes shifted back towards the girl sitting next to
him his mind searching through the million topics that lay
sorting through his mind searching for anything to keep this
conversation going.
“So tell me whats got you out and about this late at night?”
Only question that shot to his mind, but it would have to do for
now his eyes still watching her awaiting the answer showing her
that he actually wished to know why there was people out so late
tonight.

A sly smile slid its way across her lips as he gave her an
extended answer to one of the most simplest and commonly asked
questions known to man. It not only granted her a bit of humor
in this god forsaken bar but it also gave her a slight peek at
his intelligence. Tipping the now empty shot glass back in her
hand, Cal tilted her head to the side and considered his reply.
“Zeramere, The Lightning Sage, The Wanderer, it is nice to meet
you,” she murmured softly so that those around would not be
interrupted in their busy conversations. It would be rude to
speak his name loudly if he was trying not to draw attention to
himself like herself.
Feeling the heat of the alcohol in the pit of her stomach, Cal
tugged on her long sleeve black shirt, grateful for the warmth;
even if it were for a few fleeting minutes. Eyeing the
bartender, Cal raised her empty shot glass to get her attention.
The elderly woman held up her index finger, beckoning Cal to
give her a moment of patience. At the sound of his voice, Cal’s
bright green eyes wandered to the man at her side.
Shrugging, she said, “I don’t really have a place to stay. I
stumbled upon this bar on my way north. I figured it would give
me a chance to get off my feet and relax for a few hours.”
Observing around her, Cal realized there was a lot of people
around her for a weekday night. “I’m not sure why they are out,
though. Perhaps someone’s 21st birthday?” she guessed with a
small smile. “Why are you out and about tonight?”
The bartender came by with a bottle of whiskey but Cal shook her
head. “Just a glass of milk this time, sorry.” With a swift nod
of her head the woman turned around towards the empty glasses
that were sitting on top of shelf above the sink.

The smile that lingered on her pink lips was beautiful, like a
perfect gleam of the moon and the stars but that comment would
remain within his head, his sapphire eyes shifting around the
bar for a final look before looking towards the woman and
speaking just loud enough she could hear him over the talking of
the other patrons, his voice this time changed to a more
secretive tone and a seemingly darker one. “It’s a bit loud in
here do you mind taking this conversation to the balcony?” His
words were quiet but there as he rose from the seat he had been
resting upon and made his way up the rickety stairs, each step
of his foot causing the stairs to groan. He made his way to the
top and took a right turn before stepping through the old wooden
door to the balcony, the evening air seemed to pelt him in the
face as he stepped into the night and placed his arms on the
balcony. He knew she would have followed him here, so his lips
parted and a sigh emitted forth seeming to dance around her
question he pointed upwards to the sky.
“The stars in the sky guide all those that believe, whether you
travel from the deepest reaches of the sea to the darkened
shadows of the jungle the stars always show a path.”
His eyes closed for a second the very words he had just spoken
resting on his mind, like a story that had just been recited to
a group of kids. Those words of wisdom, even if simple were so
meaningful. Magic is the flow of the stars and the skies, it
runs through them all let that guide you my young grasshopper
the very words of wisdom spoke by his teacher before his very
death, before he was slaughtered in front of his eyes, he closed
them once again remembering the words of wisdom he spoke in his
dying breath lightning, while quick, is also very unstable do
not let the hate you feel now guide your light or it may bring
your downfall. His eyes slightly reopened before he pointed to
the sky again, a small bolt of lightning crawling through the
darkened sky, his lips parted again a small chuckle emitting
from between them as he spoke.
“Now what I am doing here is a good question, have you ever
stepped out of a place and wondered where is my next destination
going to be, well me I have that all decided ahead of time but
most of the time my destinations were never reached and I end up
becoming a simple wanderer waiting to find where the stars will
lead me.”
His thoughts fell silent as did he his eyes wandering to the
open area before them each tree and each grain of soil on the
ground seeming to flow thoughts to the man, and yet his eyes
closed and he blocked them out waiting to hear the womans voice
again.

The relief to escape the loud atmosphere of the bar was immense.
Without a second glance at the people around her, Cal followed
Zeramere out of the bar and onto the balcony, after laying a
bill on the bar counter. The bartender had never returned with
her drink but Cal was no longer concerned with the drink. As
the soft breeze shook away the last bit of warmth left behind
from the alcohol, Cal crossed her arms over her chest and
heavily sighed in contentment. The outdoors always had comforted
her. Out here there were no walls or doors to imprison her. Cal
followed the path of his finger and gazed upon the sky with an
expression mixed with awe and sadness.
“Only on clear nights can they guide the lost or the curious,”
she replied idly. What a funny thing to say, her mind rebuked.
But Cal simply rolled her shoulders and sighed. “I suppose,
though, the stars are always there when the clouds fade away,”
she carried on softly, half thinking to herself.
Cal watched Zeramere as his eyes closed and his expression held
steady. Beneath his exterior, she could not help but wonder what
kind of storm was brewing within his thoughts. When his eyelids
slid open slightly, she realized that she was being rude by
staring and redirected her eyes to the sky. The hint of
lightning caught her eye and pulled out a smile across her lips.
Beautiful.
His words stirred her curiosity but Cal knew it was not her
place to pry open the secrets of his life. Glancing back to him,
she leaned against the rail of the balcony and allowed her smile
to widen slightly. “I can’t say I’ve ever relied on the stars to
guide me. I simply go where my feet feel like going.” Cal knew
this answer was somewhat pathetic. It made her look like a woman
without any dreams or plans for her life. It was the exact
opposite of the truth but such a story was not meant to be
explained to a stranger in a place like this. The scent of an
approaching storm made her nostrils flare.
“I love the smell of rain,” she whispered, too lost in her
thoughts to realize she had spoken the statement out loud.
Curiously, Cal tilted her head and asked, “If it is not too
intrusive for me to ask, why are you called The Lightning Sage,
Zeramere?”
