Hearing the soft patter of footfalls, made by bare feet he was
willing to guess, he stopped and turned slightly in time to see
the woman move upward and gracefully fall back to the ground.
His ears twitched slightly at the sound she made. His brows
furrowed slightly as he gazed at the woman with silver pools of
curiosity. His reptilian-like pupils narrowing even moreso. With
a slight rolling of his shoulders, he shrugged. Turning away
from the woman, he started to take step but thought better of it
and spoke with a voice of confidence, the voice of a predator,
"If you wish, you may accompany me to the town just ahead. It
was been a quiet journey and I am sure we could both use the
company, unless you prefer the company of bugs?" He rose his
eyebrows questioningly at her with the last few words. He
brushed back his silver hair and started to walk again,
indifferent whether she joined him or not; though he would enjoy
it should she chose to do walk with him. He let out a soft
breath, smoke escaping his slightly opened maw, curling around
his features and wafting into the moonlit sky.
His eyelids drooped down to half-way close his eyes in what
would be a bored, indifference. While he looked straight ahead,
he was completely aware of everything around him; even the
woman. While he hadn't made a point of looking her up and down,
he had and liked what he saw. Turning his head to look over his
shoulder, he looked at her eyes before giving a wink and looking
ahead once more. He could feel the dragon's blood boiling in his
veins, the darkness tinging at the sides of his vision, but he
suppressed the awakening beast, hoping to be able to enjoy the
woman's company should she deign to walk with him. He scratched
his chest idly as he walked. His shoulders slumped slightly as
if burdened by something but he was soon standing straight once
more; it was almost as if he hadn't even been slumped, however
slightly. He sighed again, inhaling the smoke that wafted out
before exhaling it again, this time the smoke was thicker and
       took more time to dissipate.

Mariposa's eyebrows knitted together out of confusion as the man
just looked at her and turned away. Maybe she should say
something? Apologize for bumping into him? But as her lips
parted to speak, the man had stopped, turned back around to face
her, and began speaking on his own accord. Cued by his
animalistic voice, goosebumps began to rise on her skin, several
shivers traveling up her spine until his voice had finally
stopped; however, what he had said lightened up the mood, even
causing Mari to release bouts of whimsical laughter. Now it was
her turn to let her shoulders roll off a shrug, her eyes finding
his for the remaining seconds her stood angled towards her
before he turned and began walking away. "I've never seen one
like that," she forced out too quickly, for her words seemed to
trip up on one another and her tongue twisted, as she
half-heartedly motioned to the bug. Immediately she closed her
mouth, a light tinge of pink shifting across her cheeks as she
moved forward after the man, followng in his footsteps like she
had before until, once again, she bumped into him. This time,
however, she gracefully stepped backwards, to the side, and then
       forward, now walking alongside him.
The pink had finally left her features as she walked with him,
arms swinging carelessly at her sides; she'd even began to hum a
little tune, letting her eyes close to half-mast. Hearing him
sigh, however, caused her head to drift upwards and to the side
to look at the man. Seeing the little cloud floating in front of
his face, Mariposa let out an excited squeak, her hand moving to
his chest to push against it gently in order to stop him as her
other moved up to the smoke. Her hand, which was once opened,
closed into a fist, trapping the smoke into her hand -- or so
she had thought. A glint of curiosity entered her shining blue
eyes as she brought her hand in front of her face, opening it in
hopes of seeing parts of the little cloud; however she instead
saw nothing. Letting out a dissatisfied grunt, Mari moved both
of her hands into the little cloud, cupping them together before
closing the trap and bringing her hands to her face once more.
Opening the trap, Mariposa was greeted again with nothing. It's
become a game now: her hands capturing some of the cloud, and
opening to reveal it had all slipped away. Finally, when the
cloud had wafted away completely, Mari narrowed her eyes and
looked to the man, popping her hip out and placing her hand on
it. "Tell me how to capture it," She demanded, blue eyes
       glistening with curiosity and dominance.

Dracierous arced a brow at the glint in her eye, a challenging
look soon made its way to his features that were just sharp and
angular enough to be considered perfect; the vertical-slit
resting in the pool of silver narrowed to be nearly invisible
and the silver seemed to... radiate. A faint growl could be
heard, the sound seeming to vibrate the air. He could feel the
slumbering beast stirring to wakefulness at the challenging
woman. He pushed it back down to sleep and gave her a smile that
he hoped seemed friendly and not predatory, though the dominant
look he held hadn't left, not until she backed down. "Capture
it?" His grin turned into one of amusement. "You cannot capture
air but I will tell you a secret." Inhaling deeply, he spoke,
"Open your mouth." At this, he fought down a chuckle that
threatened to ruin his plan. Whether she did or not, he pursed
his lips and let out the breath in a narrow stream of smoke that
drifted in her face. After a moment or two, he closed his mouth.
"Now, suck in the smoke and there you have it! You captured it.
You could swallow it if you wish, or release, either way, it
will be released into the air once more." He shrugged and
stepped to side of her and continued on his way to the town just
ahead. A grin found a way to his face. She would be interesting,
that's for sure. He stopped and looked at her. "My name is
Alistair, by the way." He flashed her a toothy grin, revealing
the pointed teeth that was apart of his heritage. The teeth, the
       smoke, and the eyes...
He sighed before continuing on his way, pondering a few thoughts
as he walked, uncaring towards the person walking with him, if
she still did. His brows furrowed into a scowl, only deepening
with every few paces until his perfect visage was like a
thunderhead, ready to unleash itself upon unsuspecting victims.
Should he be questioned as to why he was so upset, he wouldn't
be able to answer for his mind had already lost itself, for a
brief span of time, to the slumbering dragon that was his other
half. As he regained control of his mind, unaware of what
transpired, he wondered if the curse laid upon him centuries ago
was the cause of his split personality, or split heritages, but
he let the thought go lest he go into uncharted waters that he
dared not sail unless the time was absolutely unavoidable. Would
it ever be necessary to seem behind the eyes of the unknown half
of me? He suppressed a shudder and let the amusement of his
situation plant itself upon his lips and within his eyes,
causing the familiar laugh lines to crinkle.

Mariposa's fingers tapped against her hips as she stared at the
man, nodding her head. "Yes capture it. What else would I want
to do with the little cloud?" Despite her words being cocky and
arrogant, they left her mouth in a whimsical manner, floating
about as her eyes sparkled with amusement. Hearing him say that
she couldn't capture the cloud, a frown had taken place of the
smile, however her eyes glimmered with curiosity at the mention
of a secret. "Wha-? Open my mouth?" Her brows drew together,
head tilting to the side out of confusion. Why would she open
her mouth? How would is aid her in her attempts to capture the
cloud? Despite such confusion, Mari let her lips drift apart,
not enough to make her look a fool, but enough to make it look
like she was simply breathing through her mouth. And then the
man blew another cloud into her face. Inhaling sharply, Mariposa
squealed -- or at least she attempted to for when the smoke hit
the back of her throat she immediately began coughing. Sneezing
once her fit of coughs stopped, Mari looked at the man as he
stepped around her and began walking once more.
Mariposa's nose wrinkled as she used her hand to dispel the rest
of the cloud, eyes trained intensely on the man. When he stopped
a smile was crafted onto her face. He had given her his name,
following it up with a... creepy smile. Mari's skin began to
crawl, and she let off a shiver of disgust. But that didn't stop
the curiosity from entering her eyes as the noticed his teeth.
Quickly, she bounded after him. "Hey, Alistair, wait!" She
called out to him, moving her hand to grab his shoulder to stop
him. Stepping around him, Mari moved both of her hands to his
face, using her fingers to draw back his lips so she could see
his teeth. Her pink lips parted as her tongue moved across her
own teeth, mentally comparing them to his. Alistair's teeth were
sharp and pointy while hers were dull and flat. Mariposa chewed
on her bottom lip gently as she let her hands drop from his
face, fingers moving to tangle with the bottom of her short
black dress to remove his saliva from them, the thin fabric of
the dress absorbing the liquid with difficulty. Her head tilted
even more so to the side, confusion obviously knitted throughout
       her soft face.

A small, triumphant smile found its place upon his face as he
heard her coughing from the smoke. But it was short-lived as he
now frowned at the woman who stood in front of him, pulling his
lips back. His brows furrowed and he made a biting motion at her
fingers, though she moved her hands away just in time. "And what
was wrong with asking, eh? Do you always touch people you don't
know?" Irritation edged his words as he spoke. "And rid yourself
of that look, child. Curiosity isn't something one should take
an... interest in." But he shrugged and then added, "But don't
let me stop you. Who am I but some stranger, eh?" His predatory
gaze found hers and offered her a small smile that was almost
       civil. Almost.
Sighing softly, releasing a faint haze of smoke, he nodded in
what would be resignation, but he simply couldn't stand the look
she was giving him. It made his skin crawl, more with irritation
than anything. "I am half-Dragon. Does that help?" Despite his
trying to not let the irritation he felt show in his words, it
was evident by how restrained he sounded; the easy confidence of
his usual manner changed slightly as irritation started to cloud
his mind, but he suppressed it, for the most part. He rubbed his
forehead before looking at her once more, "Now, if you are going
to continue to be rude, then at least give your name. After all,
I did give you mine." He grumbled, though now he was more amused
than anything. He crossed his arms over his chest, tapping the
first finger of his hand upon the opposite arm as if in thought
as he gazed at her. "Since you apparently strive to keep me from
my goal of reaching the town until your unsatible curiosity is
at least quelled enough to walk with me in somewhat silence, go
ahead and ask your questions. Examine me however you wish." The
smile, though small, held something more to it; dark promises
danced in his eyes as he spoke, the easy manner of which he had
had the entirety of his existence was back.

A small shrug rippled over Mariposa's shoulders at his
questions. Noticing the irritation in his voice caused her nose
to wrinkle in disgust. And then he went on to saying that should
touch him all she wanted after having just voiced his irritation
about her touching him previously. Her lips turned down into a
frown, blue eyes watering slightly from the smoke still
lingering in them. "You're not a stranger, you're a friend,"
Mari croaked out, voice hoarse as she rubbed her eyes with the
backs of her hands. Finally, when her eyes no longer stung, she
removed her hands to look at him, eyes still watery but it only
made them sparkle even more. Confusion and curiosity entered
them once more, contorting her features again and she leaned up
       to him with wide eyes.
"What's a dragon..?" She squeaked out, biting her lip soon
after. How is it possible to not be curious when you were
surrounded by things you have never seen before. Like that red
and black bug, and that bush it was perched on? And now you're
encountering a man who is half-dragon? Mari concealed her
excitement, however she managed to let out a few giggles and
squeals. The excitement overrode the feeling of anger that
welled up inside of her as he called her rude. "My name is
Mariposa," She said quickly, squealing in even more excitement
as he said she could ask all of the questions she wanted. She
reached a hand out and gently grabbed his wrist, tugging him
back to where the little bug was on the leaf. Pointing to it,
she looked up at him, her grip on his wrist tightening. "What's
that? And how did you get that gray cloud to come out of your
mouth?." Her finger drew back into her hand, which then moved to
tug at his jeans. "And what are these?" Her hand moved up,
tugging at his shirt this time. The men and women in her kingdom
wore things similar to what Alistair was wearing: the men wore
fabric on their legs but nothing on their torso, and the women
wore dresses much like Mari wore, all of which were made of the
same thin fabric as her dress was. "And what's this? Can I get
one?" All of her words were rushed out, her tongue tripping over
itself several times, causing her to stutter slightly. She then
kneeled down to examine the things on his feet, poking at them
gently. "What are these? And what do they do? Why do you wear
them instead of walking barefoot like me? When she was done
speaking, her shimmering eyes moved up to his, her teeth biting
down on her bottom lip once more as she straightened back up.
       [[Sorry it's crap. :cc]]

His body tensed as he felt her grab his wrist, his instincts
screaming to smite the woman down before she tried anything.
Ignoring centuries of honed instincts and reflexes, he went with
her, his body still somewhat tense. As she pointed at the bug,
asking her question, he, in turn, stared at it and nodded
slightly, "As for the bug, I believe it's called a ladybug." Her
next question caught him off guard slightly and he merely
shrugged. "Well, how do you breathe? How do you blink? It's a
natural thing the brain does. It simply... is. I have the
capacity to breathe out smoke, as well as fire, just as you have
the capacity to breathe and blink. But, in my case, when I think
about it, it doesn't stop; it simply gets... worse." Dracierous
rubbed his forehead, moving down to the bridge of his nose. All
he wanted was to get to the town, have a drink, maybe find some
company to share his bed with, and then get some sleep. Now, he
was here, with this woman --Mariposa-- doing neither of those
things. Suppressing a sigh, he eyed her as her grip on his wrist
tightened. He felt her tug and prod and point, letting her fire
off her questions before he answered her. "Well, these, upon my
legs, are jeans. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
Well, not shapes... They are all pretty much the same cut but
you get the point, I hope." He waved away the comment and
started again, "They are easily removed should the need arise,
however." His brows furrowed at that and this time he sighed
       before answering her other questions.
"This is a jacket; I wear this over my shirt because it helps
when it is cold out. Not that I feel the cold, mind, but people
would start to get suspicious about a lean man like me wearing
no jacket or coat when it is the middle of winter and there is
six feet of snow on the ground." He chuckled softly at something
akin to what he just said that had happened a century or so
back. His silver eyes gleamed with a dark mischievousness as he
recalled the memory with some clarity than he would've that
possible. He shrugged at the thought and returned to the
present, his eyes looking upon Mariposa's person. "I can get you
a shirt, if you wish. I can get you an entire wardrobe if you
want. A never ending supply of clothes of any color you want.
Hell, I am pretty sure I can get you a dress that even changes
color for a new day." At this, he seemed generally enthusiastic,
as if he wanted to give her these things; as if he wanted to
prove that he could. Maybe he did, there were few that knew his
mind and even fewer that survived such a meeting. But there was
only one thing that knew him better than he knew himself, and
that was his draconic half. The thought troubled him, casting
such a look upon his features before he shook the emotion away
and smiled warmly at the woman before him, "These are shoes; a
specific kind of shoe, to be exact, but that's neither here nor
there, so I won't bore you with details." He paused a moment
then added, "However, I do sometimes go without them." Once
more, his shoulders rolled in a light shrug.
"Is there anything else that strikes your fancy, dear one? If
not, may we continue this conversation whilst we walk to the
town?" He inquired softly, curious as to see if she was
satisfied for the time being and they could be on their merry
way. He brushed back his silver hair and looked askance at
Mariposa, genuinely curious about her but dared not ask lest he
seem rude or presumptuous about where they stood in relation
       with each other.

The fingers on Mariposa's free hand moved through the air to
gently touch her lips, mouth set in an 'o' shape as she nodded
her head when he answered her first question. "Ladybug.." She
repeated after him, eyes watching the bug finally spread its
wings and buzz away. A light giggle left her lips as she turned
to look at Alistair, watching him answer her second question.
Her eyes widened, twinkling with amusement. "You can breathe
fire?" She asked almost sarcastically with a raised brow.
Shaking her head, she rolled her eyes, chuckling. "Yeah right,"
Waving her hand to dismiss the subject, she listened on as he
continued answering the crowd of questions she had asked him.
She nodded her head, a determined look taking over her face as
she took mental notes of all the things he described.
Her fingers, which had previously dropped, moved back to her
lips, gently tugging on them as she looked upon Alistair.
"Jeans, jacket, shirt, shoes.." She recited, pointing to each
article as its name was said with her other hand before she
looked to him for confirmation that she had gotten them all
right. Wrinkling her nose, she reached her hand out to run her
fingers along his hair. "Why don't you cut it? It would be less
of a hassle to have it cut short." It wasn't as if she didn't
like long hair, she's seen quite a few men back at the kingdom
with long tresses, but Alistair was always moving it out of the
way and a simple solution would be cutting it short. Despite
that, there was also a small pang of regret for having said
that, long hair suited Alistair quite well, and she assumed that
if he were to cut it short that it would look weird on him. She
blinked once, refocusing her eyes on his face before smiling.
Nodding her head, she linked her arm with his, tugging him
forward as she began to walk. However, after several steps, she
stopped, unlinking their arms and stepping away from him. "What
about you?" She said with a raised brow, "Do you want to ask me
       some questions or anything?"

He grinned at her disbelief and, for the briefest of moments,
his body seemed to... change. It shimmered, bones popped and
cracked, his eyes becoming more feral, predatory, as his whole
demeanor did as well. In that brief moment, he let a breath of
smoke, and with that smoke came tendrils of fire that made
cracking noises against the air before dying out. As the breath
escaped him, his features and body returned to the 'normal'. He
worked his jaw with a faint grimace and otherwise, he smiled at
her faintly. "I do not jest, my dear Mariposa. I will exaggerate
but never jest." He leaned down to whisper in her ear. "Besides,
I can do much, much more." With a wink, he moved away from her,
his ears twitching slightly at the sound of her voice. He nodded
with each of her words, as she commemorated the things he said
to memory, if that was what she was doing. Brushing back his
hair, he gave her a small smile at her suggestion, "Do you want
me to?" His head leaned slightly into her touch before
continuing on. "I rather like it long. It serves as... reminder,
of a sort, I suppose." He shrugged and fell silent, his silver
eyes going distant for a brief moment, his mouth moving in
       inaudible words.
As she linked her arm through his, he smiled at her and nodded,
walking along with; though frowning slightly when she stopped.
He suppressed a sigh. Almost... Blinking at her offer, he merely
shrugged, "Well, where are you from, if I might ask? You seem
rather... isolated." Eyeing her curiously as he spoke, he
offered his arm once more. "Shall we talk more while we walk?"
Dracierous inquired with a raised brow. While he still wanted to
get to town, he didn't mind waiting. It wasn't like he had
anything better to do. Granted, he could scare children... He
shook his head with a light chuckle at the thought. While the
thought was humorous, he didn't want to do it because it made
him feel good. Allowing the dragon-half to come out to simply
breathe fire into this world, to show this woman he could, was
dangerous enough. But, after millenia of keeping the other half
of himself at bay, he didn't worry so much anymore. But the
slumbering beast, despite it being 'asleep', was still coherent
and did, in certain times, speak to him, though it was more like
impressions; emotions; thoughts; dreams, or nightmares. But
there could be some words, if the dragon was awake enough to
form a somewhat coherent thought that wasn't down-trodden with
sleepiness. Rolling his shoulders, trying to ignore the itch in
his back, he refocused on the woman with a small smile.

Mariposa forced her eyes to close when she heard the popping and
cracking sounds, resisting the urge to cover her ears with her
hands. A grimace took over her once soft features as her eyes
finally opened just in time to see the orange fire escape
Alistair's mouth. A soft gasp left her as her cheeks caught
fire, turning pink as he leaned in towards her and whispered in
her ear. She could feel the grimace turn into a look of shock,
which soon transformed into a smirk. Her hands shot out to grasp
his shirt roughly, pulling him back to her so she could whisper
into his own ear, her lips just barely grazing his earlobe.
"Show me." The words left her in an almost seductive manner
before she let go of his shirt and stepped away, the smirk still
resting cozily upon her face. Raising a brow as he talked about
his hair, Mari shrugged. "A reminder for what?" She said, voice
knitted with curiosity, however she refused to let her face show
it for he seemed disgusted with it earlier.
When Alistair questioned where she was from, Mari's eyes closed.
"I'm from Styrax." She was completely sure that he didn't know
where the island was, let alone that it even existed. And she
silently hoped that it would be the only question about her
home; explaining that would cause her to explain many other
details that she believed would be better unspoken. Opening her
eyes and, with a sharp nod, Mari linked her arm with his and
began moving forward. "What about you? Where are you from?" She
asked with a blank expression, almost becoming uninterested with
the conversation and other thoughts began demanding her
attention. The sudden lack of awareness caused the woman to step
on something sharp. The incision caused Mariposa whimper, her
teeth taking in her bottom lip as tears welled up in her eyes,
the drops of fluid clinging to her long eyelashes before falling
to her cheeks as she hopped to the nearest rock big enough for
her to sit on, tugging Alistair along with her.
