The Dresden Files Sign-Up Sheet
By: Demonreach Date: January 7, 2012, 3:01 am
---------------------------------------------------------
As the title suggests, this is a sign-up for an RP based on The
Dresden Files. They are amazing books, which shouldn't even be
an opinion but a mere fact. Well, I am not usually one to create
such things but first time for everything. Now, time to get to
it...

---------------------------------------------------------
Name- Dracierous 'Alistair' Carstairs
Age- Been around since Greece's Bronze Age.
Race- Half-Breed; Dragon and Human
Personality- Dracierous has a split-personality; the more
prominent one would be his human nature, while his draconic half
'slumbers' and wakes up from time to time to assert itself over
his body and mind. While retaining his human side, he has an
alpha personality though it is rarely demonstrated while his
more cynical and sarcastic nature tends to preside over his
mindset. He is cautious in this state of mind, knowing that if
his emotions become too strong his dragon half will 'awaken'
causing a 'blackout', in which he rarely, if at all, remembers
what happens; the 'blackouts' can range from seconds to years
and from years to decades. So, he also tends to put out an air
of indifference; not that he doesn't care, or doesn't feel, just
that he doesn't risk the off chance that he will 'blackout'.
While the dragon part of his blood is 'awake', his alpha
personality is more assertive and his demeanor is cold
indifference to all things around him, as if it is plagued by a
hatred of all things. While this isn't true, his indifference in
this state of mind is unknowable and therefore makes it hard to
predict what will set him off or make him laugh, or both.
Magical Ability- Being half-Dragon gives him some magical
ability and his mother, having been human, was also a wizard and
had inherited her magical genetics.
Having lived as long as he has, his magical prowess and ability
has grown and became more refined; his understanding of magic
has also increased, allowing him to achieve great feats with
only a small amount of will, or magic, which could explain his
confidence as well as indifference to most things around him,
though that is not likely the case.
Human-State-of-Mind
Height- 5'11"
Weight- 160
Hair Color- Silver
Eye Color- Silver as well, though paler than his hair with
narrow, vertical black slits for pupils
Body Build- Lean, well-muscled
Skin Tone- A darker silver than his hair
Other Definitive Markings- Various scars criss-cross his chest
and back as well as the entirety of his hands and forearms; more
scars cover his calves and thighs and a faint scar runs along
his throat
Other- Smoke can sometimes be seen when he breathes out from his
nose or mouth, which is why he carries cigarettes with him at
all times; he doesn't indulge in the habit, personally, but it
helps avoid too many looks.
Dragon-State-of-Mind
Height- 6'5"
Weight- 220; muscles seem to be more filled out
Hair Color- The same silver though with faint traces of black
Eye Color- The same pale silver with traces of blue
Skin Tone- An even darker silver, making the scars more
prominent
Signs of 'Awakening'- While retaining his human state-of-mind,
his shadow manifests into something different; growing wings and
showing the hands holding two swords, though the wings aren't
visible when his dragon state-of-mind is 'awake', they are
visible within his shadow(s). His skin, hair, and eyes seem to
shimmer with their silvery tint, seeming to become ethereal.
----------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------
Weapons- Aside from his magical prowess and natural weapons,
such as his claws and teeth, he wields two swords; though they
are more active while his dragon-half 'awake'. The swords can
also be used as whips as wards are etched into the blades and
are triggered with his specific magic, allowing the blades to
become unhinged, being connected by more wards that are etched
into the hilts.
Caelestis Frigus: Heavenly Cold- Is one of the two swords within
Dracierous's arsenal; the blade is black with silver runes from
an ancient language etched upon it, these etchings are various
wards that allow the blade to become a whip and keeps the blade
pieces together; they also allow the blade to bypass almost any
type of ward and cut through armor like a hot knife through
butter. It also gives a sense of foreboding and emits a chill
that could kill the weakest of beings outright -this ability can
be stopped with a shield but it can freeze said shield to the
point it shatters. The blade is so sharp that is almost be
considered pleasurable being cut by it.
Ignis Spiritus: Fire's Breath- This is the second of the two
swords; the blade is silver with red runes with the same wards
that allow it to become a whip and keep the pieces of the blade
connected; also allowing it to bypass just about any ward and
cut through armor. Although this blade gives a sense of
welcoming and warmth, it is as much a ploy as its counterparts
foreboding presence. The warmth that is emitted from the blade
can vary in intensity based on the wielders will. When cut by
the blade, it can be said that it seems to steal the breath from
its victim; the effect is ever-present as when it had been
stabbed through an opponents leg, the person struggled to
breathe.
Both swords have more runes etched in their hilts and
cross-guards that prevent any other from activating their
abilities save for their current owner. The current wielder
would have to be slain and the slayer would inherit them. To
prevent their owner from being assassinated, they erect a shield
over his sleeping form and that can protect him from any attempt
on his life magical and otherwise, though the magical attacks
would simply be drained and make the barrier stronger; there is
a chance to overload the wards that protect the wielder but that
is a rare occurrence.
Other- A staff made of dragon-bone that was simply made and
marred by a single letter etched into the haft in the
dragon-tongue, roughly translating to, "He Who Guards the Night
from the Dawn".
Old Roman armor that he had recast and had wards etched into the
plating and rings and leather, wards that he renewed every few
months as magic tended to slowly diminish with time.
A bowl that was always filled with water.
A plate that had a Merlin-ancient seal on it that housed an
Outsider, which would only talk to his kind for some reason or
other, and offered many other things, things Dracierous had
taken advantage over after a thorough questioning and promises
sealed on the beings power and immortality --such promises were
sealed by etching those spoken words on the plate itself, which,
supposedly, were then tattooed on the Outsiders flesh and soul,
if it could be said to have one.

---------------------------------------------------------
Name: David Chambers
Age: 39-Born on December 22, 2070
Gender: Male
Race: Human (Wizard)
Title(s): Wizard, Knight of the Cross-Wielder of Amoracchius,
Drakeslayer
Relatives: Robert and Lea Chambers (mother and father) Louis
Chambers (Older half brother) Arthur Pendragon (ancestor)
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------
Personality traits and abilities
Personality: Typically, David Chambers is a kind-hearted person,
with most who come to know him would say just that very thing.
He’s fiercely loyal to those who he is close to, willing to put
his own life in jeopardy as long as it means those who he cares
about are safe from harm. Because he fights for those he loves,
he becomes rather ruthless in battle against those who wish to
do them harm. He’s not a particularly religious man, despite his
post as a Knight of the Cross. As well as his overwhelming sense
of protecting those who is close to, he feels that it is his
duty to protect those who can’t protect themselves from evil.
This trait may be the genetic marking of the descendents of
Ancient Royalty as he is a descendant of the legendary
Britannian King Arthur Pendragon himself. The irony in that is
that both Arthur Pendragon and David Chambers wield the same
exact blade.
Magical Abilities: David hereditarily became a Wizard,
inheriting some of his father‘s abilities, and he has enough
control over those abilities for him to be classified as a
Wizard but they are rather unremarkable by the standards of the
White Council. Despite having hardly any normal magical powers,
his faith magic is particularly exceptional. Magical abilities
that were once unremarkable now become extraordinary with them
being fueled off of his emotions. Because of this, the White
Council considers him unpredictable and extremely dangerous
following an incident were he slew a Dragon(immensely powerful
beings) with his own physical prowess and always keep a watchful
eye on him in case he were to lose control of his abilities and
emotions.
Other Abilities: Having been gifted with the Sword of Love,
Amoracchius a few years prior to the story, he has proved
himself to be a talented swordsman over the course of time. In
addition to his skills as a swordsman, he is an expert at hand
to hand combat. He’s also an accomplished magical craftsman and
blacksmith, having completely remade Amoracchius to fit his own
needs in combat.
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------
Physical Appearance
Height: 6’3
Weight: 212
Hair and Hair Color: His hair is chopped short, almost a buzz
cut. He has rough stubble that covers the whole of his lower
jaw, chin, and above his upper lip. Being of Celtic descent, he
has inherited the hair color of his ancestors, a bright fiery
red.
Eye Color: His eyes are bright mix of blue and green, being a
light teal.
Body Build: He is a rather large man who has a bulky, sinewy
muscular build.
Skin Tone: As well as having the red hair of the Celts, he also
has their skin tone, which is fair but for some strange reason,
he doesn’t have the freckles that cover the whole bodies of most
red haired, fair skinned people have.

Scars: Being a battle veteran, he does have quite a few scars
but two in particular stand out among the others. A wide and
long white scar is etched into the skin of his torso, from his
right shoulder all the way down to his abdomen. This scar was
obtained in the fight that he had with the Dragon Terravax,
caused by a glancing blow of a large claw. The second is a long
thin scar across his thigh where a blade cut into it during
battle with a Denarian.
Equipment(weapons, armor, and other magical
items)
Amoracchius “Sword of Love“: One of the three magical holy
swords wielded by the Knights of the Cross which each have a
nail embedded into the hilts of them that was from the
Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which is what gives them their
names. Dried blood is clearly visible on the nail in the hilt.
Because the nail in hilt is from the Crucifix itself, the holy
energy of the nail fused itself into the blade of the sword upon
being made into it. Thus, the blade hums with magical power as
well as having a white glowing aura surrounding it. Amoracchius
is so called the “Sword of Love” and for the reason that it was
made for the defense of the loved ones of the wielder. If it
were ever used in a way that was counter-productive to what it
was originally designed for, it would shatter. Originally, the
sword was fashioned in the form of a heavy European broadsword,
with a wide blade and a single handed grip and it had stayed
that way without much modification ever since it was created,
that is, until after it came into the hands of the Knight David
Chambers who modified the blade to have a longer, but just as
thick blade. Essentially, it is now a heavy hand-and-a-half
sword. The Original Merlin, the one who’s name was inspired for
the position in the White Council was said to be the custodian
for this blade and in that sense, it is said to be Excalibur
itself. Normally, the blade is used only as that but since David
is also a wizard, he can use it as a powerful Foci, replacing a
staff with the blade.
Sanctus “Holy”: An enchanted dagger made of a material of
David’s own make. Having smelted the steel with Soulfire, and
formed the blade with magical powers have imbued the weapon with
certain traits such as that it’s sharper than the thinnest of
razors and the blade never dulls. As well as that, it has magic
reservoirs within it that allows someone to store energy for use
at another time. David can also use this weapon as a Foci when
Amoracchius isn’t at hand.
Effort: A set of seemingly normal plate armor, but in reality it
is comprised of a super-hard and light material that is 50 times
stronger than steal. It would stop a blade in its track, as well
as a .44 Magnum bullet fired point blank range and only have
minimal damage. It is Templar stylized, having a helmet that has
a red cross visor. The armor combines enchanted forging with
futuristic technology in that the helmet has a virtual
heads-up-display that allows him to see without having the
weakness of small eyeholes as well as a very responsive
diagnostic system built into it.

Each character has a different story, but they are all apart of
something bigger, which is the Blackened Denarius revealing
their hand in doing whatever it is they are planning now.
Your character's story is what you want.
I would like a few more antagonists, if I was going to make you
do anything, but if you want to be an protagonist, then feel
free. There won't be any neutral parties unless you are human
and don't know anything about the magical world, but even then,
the Blackened Denarius are targeting all forms of life, innocent
or otherwise of supernatural, so again, no neutral parties.
If you have your character already thought out and don't have a
story for him yet, then go ahead and wing it.

And...I think we might have come to a full decision for the
setting of the role play. I proposed a "retro-futuristic"
setting...Seeing as the story takes place a century or so after
the books, technology is going to be quite a bit more advanced
than what we currently have, yet at the same time, social and
political standards have once again taken a more "medieval
view".

Well...We were thinking of something of bringing about the
Apocalypse as the stories main point of conflict. A single
person is bringing about the conquest of the entire world and
all of it's different countries and kingdoms and that person is
a Denarian, the leader of the Denarians in fact. I think that he
could be safely be compared to the "Anti-christ". The story
starts, or so I am to assume, with the events leading up to the
main point of conflict until the end of it and all of the
characters being made by us are going to have their own unique
part in it as well as their own stories.

---------------------------------------------------------
Had to delete some posts, so don't freak out everyone.
Infamous- I have a description of all the different factions
within the Dresdenverse posted below everything else. Read
through that and decide for yourself what you want to be. I
realize it's a lot of reading, but the RP encompasses Earth, the
Nevernever, and the Outsider's Realm, kind of.
As to the idea, I am not opposed to it, as I have told Jacob it
will work, and we need something to get this show on the road. I
would like to wait for more people to join before we actually
get anything done.
With the information for the story that will take place, I
wouldn't be opposed to suggestions and various minor plots that
bring everything together as a whole. Minor conflicts and the
like. I don't know how long this will last nor when it will
start, though it should be soon as we work out the kinks and
smooth wrinkles, so be patient and don't give up on this just
yet.
I would also like it if the people who will be joining will make
an effort to be on every day but I know schedules conflict and
life happens, if you can't post then please contact us stating
why or have someone else tell us, that way we won't be waiting
and can progress the story line with some ease.
On that note, please, in your character sheets, make your
character as detailed as possible; personality, traits,
behavior, etc., so that we can NPC said character to some effect
of its original intent.
On another note, you may have a character that is neutral, but
as the story progresses the character will have to take a side.
Said side will be made for you, based on your character, if you
won't choose. I don't mean to be strict about this because I
want everyone to have fun, but I don't want people lolly gagging
about. This will involve everyone and everything, maybe not in
the beginning, but towards the middle and the end, it will.
Also, I would like ideas about how magic affects the mundane
world, as the magic the Dresdenverse affects different things;
back in the really ole days, milk went sour and candles changed
different colors. Now, present day, technology fails if over
exposed to magic.
On this note, if your character can wield magic and depending on
how strong your character is with said magic, depends on how
much of an affect it has on the world and whatever it
influences, should we decide on anything.
(Harry Dresden, without using magic, could disrupt computers and
other small electronics just by being near them; when using
magic, he could knock out street lights, and possibly an entire
building)
On the magic note once more, Fae creatures and any other
creature of the Nevernever, don't affect the world as human
magic does. But if you are apart of the Winter Court, and in a
rage or any other strong feeling, you could freeze electric
wires and the like.
On the Faery note, please be aware that both Courts are at a
cease fire. The Summer Court is no less cold and calculating
than the Winter Court, only more subtle and twisted promises.
Also, if you are Fae, you have to abide by the Question of
Three, which is that any Faery asked a question three times must
answer truthfully. None can lie, no matter what, but with this,
they have learned to twist their words in belay the meaning and
whatnot. Speak in riddles and hide behind masks.
A note once more: If you play a Faery character, always, always,
try to make a bargain with something, even if it's a talking
tree. I don't care. Don't give something without asking for
something. Hide your true bargain behind fancy words and the
twisting of tongues, don't be outright about it. This may take
some getting used to, don't fret.
Another note, There will be 7 Faeries that need to be played and
I will post those soon-ish. Well... Maybe it's nine... Bah!
Either way, I will have information about these posts up soon
and a sample post will be mandatory for these positions, if you
make a character sheet for any position. Please don't be
offended or feel insulted if you are not chosen.
And that's about all for now, I believe.

able and is always dusty. When Cleaned completely the djinn will
appear for any. To use correctly one must keep the vessal
outside of the runic circle to call the djinn, If the circle or
the lamp breaks, the djinn will repair the vessal by using the
bones of the person who called him. The the djinn will crush the
bones on the lamp to act as the new dust.
The earrings of the wish maker- These earrings are a sign that
the djinn is cursed to the vessal. If the rings would to ever be
taken off, the djinn would be free to steal the souls of the
world. The ear rings give the djinn the power to grant any wish
thinkable. If someone else were to put them on they would turn
to a djinn of the lamp and be cursed with the powers.
