He wasn't one to fix food, often, but this was a rare ocassion.
It seemed his daughter had found a friend and was protected by
her, he had to do something to commemorate this time. 'Hmm..
what do humans eat?' He didn't know, but figured it wasn't that
different than what he and Crystal would.
'I remember.. briefly... hmm... a leafy dish? ... Hmmm...' With
a sigh, he made his way to the leafy plants he'd collected and
began to attempt to construct them into a 'salad' since he'd
recalled one human speaking about it. It seemed rather.. boring.
Wondering what was missing, he sighed and ventured to the
collection of red spherical foodstuffs; picking up several and
taking them back to the bowl; using his claws to make quick work
of the slicing and dicing. 'I don't much know what I'm doing but
I guess this'll work..'
With a shrug, he picked up the bowl and some objects he was
guessing were for eating the thing he'd just attempted to make;
taking them to the door of the guest area. Pushing the door open
with a tail, the demon lord stepped out into the area he knew
Crystal and her friend to be waiting. Feeling awkward, not being
used to fixing human food, he sat the bowl down on a table and
made his way to them.
This day, however, Maru didn't have his sword or anything at his
side; a relaxed time in the Bloodrose Empire. "There's.. one of
those.." He paused for a moment, unsure what it was called. "..
salads, I think it's called." Then, with a smile, Maru tilted
his head and his golden eyes twitched and flicked between his
daughter and her friend. "I'm sure my dearest daughter's at
least told you a little about me. But, before that, welcome to
our home."

(Sorry it's taken me a bit to get to my reply, I haven't been
able to concentrate lately. And please forgive how bad this is
probably going to suck. x.x)
Crystal's confused expression and her ramblings about her father
being "Pretty" confuse Cherrie as well for a moment. Then the
realization hits her and she giggles, her hand gracefully moving
to cover her laugh. "No, Crystal. Not Literally pretty! I guess
I forget you don't spend much time with humans. It's sort of a
figure of speech.." She trails off, knowing it's probably not
important enough to explain. Sure enough, Crystal is already
talking about her father coming soon and that pit drops back
into her stomach for a moment. Cherrie has never had much
experience with 'supernatural' as humans call anything not
human. She had a fairly normal, boring life until she came
across Crystal in those woods. Ever since she has been caught in
a whirlwind that has opened her eyes to so much more than her
tiny little human world. The mention of vampires doesn't even
surprise her by now. "Well, it's a good thing I'm not then.
Although, I can't say I favor being on the bottom of the
food-chain all the time." Her brown eyes light up with humor as
she gazes at the gorgeous woman before her, then she quickly
averts her eyes, afraid too much eye contact might make her go
'gooey' and give her away. Thankfully, she hears another set of
footsteps enter the house followed by a man she can only assume
is Crystal's father as he sets a...salad on the table? Yep, that
is definitely a salad.
Cherrie shifts her body to face the man, or well, the very
immortal and not human looking 'man'. Acknowledging his food
creation she clears her throat and smiles. "Um, thank you. It
looks lovely." This is definitely not the first meeting she
expected, he seems nice actually. The tension that has been
building slowing in her shoulders eases and the room feels more
comfortable. "yes, sir. She has a bit. Thank you, I know Crystal
and I don't have a very.. normal friendship. I'm glad to be here
though, and I appreciate your hospitality." Unsure of where to
go from here, she slowly outstretches her hand. It seems like
the polite thing to do, and she hopes he isn't offended by
contact with a human.

Even though Cher's explanation was adequate enough for Crystal
to understand what she meant, it opened up another set of
questions. The gaze of confusion had struck once again as
Crystal wondered how speech could have a figure..
"[shadow=red,left]Figure[/shadow] of speech? How could speech
have a figure? My head hurts.." Crystal said with a tiny smile,
her little fox like fangs peeking over her lips slightly as she
done so. Due to her mother's constant guardianship, Crystal
wasn't exactly the brightest tree in the desert. She was smart,
but didn't understand most things as quickly as others; typical
blond mentality. "You silly girl!" Crystal giggled, taking
Cher's hand into her own with a soft smile. "Who would ever eat
you, Cher?! You're too nice and pretty for someone to try to
eat! Besides, I'll protect you, just like you protected me!"
Crystal replied, and as she finished, she heard her father
approaching. Letting Cherrie's hand slip from her own, Crystal
turned to his direction as she noticed his creation. Soon, the
two began to meet and greet and get to know each other. He
seemed nice enough to her, and she didn't seem as nervous as she
once was. Perhaps this was a good thing. Crystal pulled up a
chair and sat down near them, allowing them to get to know each
other more..

With a slight chuckle, listening to his daughter's friend, Lord
Maru felt something strange when he looked to the woman. When
she spoke, it seemed she was a bit timid but that was to be
expected, he figured. Glad this person wasn't someone he'd
likely have to 'extract' from Crystal's life, a sense of relief
began to spread over the man. When he spoke again, feeling the
warmth of being with his eldest daughter, the demon lord tried
to tone down the obvious demonic undertone of his voice;
speaking softly. "No, thank you. For keeping my daughter safe
and bringing her back here. It probably wasn't too easy. I
appreciate it."
When she extended her hand, with a smile, he nodded and extended
his as well; taking hers gently in his, bringing her hand to his
lips and placing a courteous kiss to the top before releasing.
"It's quite alright. Crystal means the world to me. Any friend
of hers, that treats her right, is welcome here." Smiling
softly, standing back up, he chuckled softly and continued. "I'm
Maru Bloodrose, lord of the Bloodrose Royal Family. I know
you've already met the princess of the family, but, what I don't
know.." He paused, not meaning to be too straight-forward. "What
I don't know, is the name of the friend of my daughter."
Looking to his princess, chuckling softly, he smiled and
whispered. "She seems nice, sweety. It'll be fine, I promise."
The look in his eyes, the calmness of his heart, the entire
event seemed almost like a dream; a very relaxing dream. Now,
looking betwixt them, he sighed softly in content; for once, he
wouldn't have to do one of the things he was so good at, for
someone getting a bad idea; he was actually enjoying the meeting
to a point, though it was only beginning.

The meal was done and everything seemed to go well. After her
father returned to his room; after mentioning something of grave
importance, even important enough to call their little meeting
to a quick close. Crystal wasn't put off by it, that meant that
she had more time to be with her friend, who seemed tired at the
moment. So, she took the woman by the hand and escorted her up
to her very own room; where she would place the girl in her bed.
Crystal sat at the edge, looking own as the woman trailed off to
sleep. They would have to repeat this reunion and meeting of
Cherie soon enough. She knew of how busy her father was, with
being him of course. Sighing, Crystal crossed her legs, resting
her hands in her lap while turning her gaze toward the silent
woman. She seemed special, but how? Maybe it was because her
father liked her? But, that didn't make sense at all. He hated
humans with a passion. Maybe that's why he chose to leave so
early? Crystal laid down next to Cherie in silent
contemplation... There was more on her mind than this situation,
of course..

Something was weighing heavily on the demon lord's heart. It
wasn't that his precious daughter liked some human girl, it was
something much worse. Lord Maru wasn't sure, though, if it was
how many times he'd come close to losing his life and any chance
of ever seeing her again or what. The only thing he knew,
though, was that Crystal was the future; the next leader of
their family. Despite desperately trying to stay around as much
as possible, the aging patriarch knew he couldn't protect her
forever; eventually she would need to embrace her destiny.
Just that thought brought a twinge of pain to Maru's heart, a
tear escaping his eye. He knew that when the time came, she'd be
ready but like any father, it pained him to know that eventually
it would just be her against the world; when his judgment day
came. It felt as though his very core was being ripped in half;
part of the man was extremely proud of his daughter, she would
make a great leader for the family, but part of him was
absolutely distraught with anguish that eventually his time
would be no more and that he wouldn't be able to protect her.
'Crystal.. my daughter... please... don't hate me when it's time
for me to go... When that time comes... I'll take my place, with
my father.. Your grandfather.. and his father.. and all our
ancestors before us.. I love you.. You are my heart. Please
forgive me..' He thought to himself, tears welling in his eyes
just from thinking about what would eventually happen; the
inevitable. Maru found himself struggling to retain control of
his emotions, his stomach in knots from the greatest fight he
would ever have; the fight he would ultimately lose.. against
his own emotions.
Knowing she couldn't see him, the distraught father had
collapsed to his knees; looking outside towards the moon: Asking
for help from the lunar goddess, for the strength to do what
must be done. Nothing he'd ever been through could have possibly
prepared him for the struggle he faced now; a father who was
undeniably proud of his daughter, yet at the same time, a father
who was undeniably worried for his little girl's safety. Knowing
he had to do this eventually, Maru again looked to the moon;
seeking guidance.
With a sigh, though, shaking his head, the man knew this had to
be done. Rising from his knees, leaving his trusted sword by the
wall, the man continued to look out to the moon; to the lunar
goddess. Knowing he'd have to do this sooner or later, Maru
began to manage to control and regain his emotions as best he
could. It was impossible to feel nothing, but he knew he had to
be strong; despite how painful things eventually would be. 'I
will always love you, Crystal. No matter. Even though one day,
my time in this world will be no more.'
As he slowly regained composure, Maru turned and nodded to
himself; reaffirming himself, his resolve restoring itself.
Slowly, he made his way to the door and opened it; making his
way out of the cabin. He wasn't running, nay, the man was
heading to Lake Bloodrose; just on the other side of the cabin.
Having taken a seat under the tree closest to the lake, the man
simply looked out; watching the crystal clear waters; knowing
Raku would bring Crystal to him.
-Meanwhile; back at the cabin-
Raku, Lord Maru's spirit wolf had made her way into the room
where Crystal and the human girl lay. The ghastly apparition
could only be seen by those born of the Bloodrose Royal Family;
the patriarch and his daughter. The wolf silently moved to
Crystal and called out to her. "Bloodrose Princess. Bloodrose
Lake. You should go there." The guide then slowly began to turn
around and wait, waiting to fully vanish and for the girl to
embark on the short journey.

This homecoming was quickly turning into one that filled
Crystal's heart with confusion; the girl who helped her seemed
to be exhausted and barely made it through her dinner and her
father, Maru, seemed too distracted to fully meet the woman.
That, of course, should have been known anyway, due to his
position and all the things he was charged to do. He is a god
after all and has many to deal with. Perhaps this was just the
wrong time to come and see him. He seemed happy enough, but who
knows?! He, at least, didn't turn his nose up at the sight of
Crystal's human friend. He might've had more of a problem with a
vampire, actually. Now that she thought about it. Shrugging
while laying down, Crystal turned over to admire the beauty who
was in a deep slumber next to her. Her breath smelled so fresh
and nice, even the scent that poured off of her body was
fragrant, even after traveling in the same clothes for so long.
She chuckled to herself as she thought of that, running fingers
through the brown hair that adorned Cherrie's head to pick the
spilled strands from the woman's face. She looked like an angel
resting from a hard day of doing Heaven's work.
As Crystal turned back around, she was startled by the
appearance of a spirit wolf. It was so majestic and keen and
downright beautiful. Holding her chest for a few moments,
Crystal regained her composure and heeded the animal's words.
Crystal made sure that Cherrie was comfortable before climbing
out of bed and following the wolf before it finally vanished
into thin air. The Eldest daughter made her way out of the
building and toward the lake that sat within it's own as if it
was too good to be around anything; else it's grandeur will be
diminished. Crystal walked up on her father, who seemed to
simply sit and enjoy the sounds of the water and glow of the
moon. She pressed her hands upon his shoulders, giving him a
soothing touch. She could feel how tense he was and grew
worried, but she knew that he would explain everything now that
she's here.

Waiting for her, he began to think back to when he and Kit first
had Crystal; a moment he would never forget. She was a truly
adorable baby who'd proven herself to be an equally beautiful
woman now. Hearing her come from the cabin, ears twitching in
response, he attempted to clear his mind and simply wait. When
he felt her familiar touch on his shoulder, reaching up, he
tenderly cupped her hands and smiled softly; knowing she was
there. In a softened voice, much as he always used to speak to
her, Maru spoke. "I'm glad you're here, Crystal. I'm sorry if
the meeting wasn't exactly spectacular." There was something
about her presence that reminded the patriarch of her mother,
Kitsune; something relaxing and comforting.. something welcome.
With a pause, closing his eyes for a second, he simply breathed;
inhaling and exhaling, relaxing. It was going to be hard,
obviously, but he knew he'd have an easier time being as relaxed
as possible. Clawed fingers lightly caressing her fingers in an
idle way, for a moment, he decided to speak again; slowly
releasing her hands. "Please, sit down next to me, pumpkin. We
need to talk about something. It's big, and it involves the
future.. our destinies.. yours, mine.. our family's..
everything." It wasn't an easy topic to bring up, and Maru had a
feeling they'd both potentially be in tears by the end, which
made him cringe inside; he didn't want to make his daughter cry.
"I know you probably feel like I've left you in the dark, about
a great many things, but I promise, we'll cover those in time. I
wont lie to you, Crystal."

Crystal enjoyed the touch of her father; even though when they
met again, things had gotten to a rough start. She had felt
abandoned, alone, unloved; simply thrown out to fend for
herself. This was, of course, things that her mother would say
to her in the wake of the two parents' ugly break-up. It seemed
like her father was trying really hard to make things up to
Crystal and she appreciated that. "Spectacular?" She questioned,
tilting her head to the side slightly. "There is no need for
fireworks and fanfare!" She said, giggling as she maneuvered
herself in front of him. His eyes; they seemed sad, as if
something was missing. As if he was loosing himself. Crystal
noticed his pause and his reluctance to speak, listening for his
words as they seemed important. She wouldn't tell him that her
friend had left, maybe she had all of the help that she needed.
Crystal would miss her, but she couldn't make her stay even if
she wanted to. Feeling her father's comforting touch, Crystal
was brought out of the daze that she was in while thinking of
her close friend leaving. With a smile, Crystal sat beside her
father and listened to his words. "Okay, I'm ready!" She said,
eager to hear what he has to tell her.

"You're part demon, but that doesn't mean you're bad,
sweetheart. You have the potential to be much more than you are,
and sooner or later, you're going to need to embrace it and make
it your own." He took a moment, watching her, smiling again;
more than he had in ages, as he continued. "Babygirl, you're
part of a long legacy, and regardless of what the future holds,
you're destined to become a queen. You're destined to lead. I
know I'm still here, but this family.. Our family will someday
be left to you. Daddy's not going anywhere, and will always be
with you, but at the same time, one day, this family will be
yours. You will be the head of the Bloodrose Royal Family."
Looking to her, the purest and truest loving look a father could
give his daughter in his eyes, Maru chuckled and nodded. "I know
you'll be able to do greater things than even I. I need to train
you to be able to control your demonic side, so you can become
the goddess you truly are, hun."
-Some time later-
Each holding a sword, the sounds of clashing steel on steel can
be heard echoing outside the house as what sounds to be a
struggle wages. Trees and large swaths of the ground riddled in
claw marks and charred trails scattered about as evidence from
grueling training. Nearly one hundred twenty days passing since
the fierce training began, and already, they'd at made progress;
building her physical strength some, as well as her control of
the raw power residing within her. Her power, controlled by her
emotions, much as her father's, would be hard to control
throughout time but she'd learn to harness it and truly be able
to use it to embrace and transform into the goddess she was
meant to be. She'd taken hits, some far stronger than her father
intended, but he knew he'd have to get her used to this sort of
thing; feeling more and more pride in her as time passed, though
it was hard to watch her grow.
Perhaps the most difficult phase was when he'd taught her to
draw in and use the energy from her environment, which included
being able to use it to heal both herself and others, but it had
to be done. As the minutes grew into hours into days, into
weeks, into months, each session being more and more intense
than the last, it was obvious that though she was still the same
as she had been in a great many ways, that she now had far
greater control of her power. She'd even managed to become quite
adept at healing and defending as well as attacking using the
demonic energy flowing through her being. Her body had become
much more durable and her muscles more able to handle tougher
tasks; she'd become stronger not only physically, but mentally,
and emotionally. Though she'd suffered relatively serious
injuries, she'd been able to eventually handle it without too
much trouble even learning how to utilize part of the goddess of
destruction which resided within her to restore herself.
It was after one such incident of restoring herself, however,
that Crystal had inadvertently collapsed; being caught before
being able to hit the ground, by her father who promptly cried
out in a panic. "Pumpkin!" Coincidentally, the incident which
left her unconscious had also taken a toll on her body and her
father knew it. With a worried look about him, lifting her in
his arms, Maru made his way swiftly through the woods; back to
the house and the meadow where it all began some four months
ago. He thought he'd sensed her friend around, several times
over the course of the training but wasn't too certain; focused
mostly on ensuring his daughter got the training she'd need.
Hating seeing her in such an injured state had caused the demon
lord's heart to ache as he held her; golden eyes shimmering as
he watched her; drawing closer and closer to the house. "You'll
be okay sweetheart, I swear it, whatever I have to do, you'll be
okay." It was perhaps one of the most terrifying ordeals he'd
ever had to face; seeing his own flesh and blood child, one of
the very few beings he truly loved, pushed to her limits and
injured. The very idea that she'd been hurt was just short of
crippling to him. "I'm sorry I pushed you so hard, princess.
Daddy's sorry. Just hang in there. I promise, you'll be okay."
-After training-
Coming back to the house now, racing as fast as he could, Maru
noticed Crystal's friend was still there apparently; a sight
he'd been happy to see; an obviously distraught. Stopping only
long enough to open the door wih one of his tails, Maru saw the
girl but said nothing, more focused on getting Crystal taken
care of. He didn't even bother closing the door when his tail
released it. Quick to tend to her wounds and put her to bed, he
then took the swords from his waist and placed them in the
corner before crouching at her bedside; golden eyes shimmering
with concern as he worried. Ears twitching, it would've been a
painfully horrible mistake for someone to attack, as emotionally
distraught as he was; genuine worry weighing heavy on his heart
as he held his unconscious daughter's hand betwixt his own;
whispering. "Please get better soon, pumpkin.."
