Re: The Bloodrose Empire

Crystal squeaked as she was picked up and held against her
father's body. She rapped her arms around his neck and rested
against his chest and shoulder area. Crystal could do nothing
but laugh at this situation, for he was still holding her like
she was but a child; babying the woman who has been around for
over 19000 years. Crystal shrugged as her day sat down, she
listened to the man's words and nodded while closing her eyes.
She loved her daddy and didn't care who else knew or who else
came in contact with him. But when she's with him, SHE's with
him and no one else would distract him from her attention. "I am
hungry, daddy. But, I don't know what I want to eat. I've just
been very busy lately, dealing with things." She confessed and
kissed her daddy's cheek before rolling off of him and standing
up to stretch. In the years, she had become more lenient on
letting people near him when she's around him. It's just that
she missed him so much. And, after thousands of years of
searching for him and finally finding him, she needed all the
time with him as possible. "I'm not little! I'm tall!" She said
giggling and finding her own chair. "Anything will work. I
haven't eaten in days."

Nodding to Crystal, he would do his best to provide his little
girl with only the best and most delicious home cooked meal
possible. Listening to her, smiling at the cheek kiss, he tilted
his head slightly. "Such as the demon within, I take it?" Though
they'd been seperated for years, when she was around, she was
all her father could think about; nothing else mattered. It was,
in a word, heartbreaking, every time they'd part ways; she was
the one person in any world, that he'd do absolutely anything
for, the one person he loved without question. "I see. Then,
rest well sweetheart. This time, stay a while, alright? No need
to run off so fast this time." He chuckled slightly as he stood.
"Feel free to take a nap or anything you want." Turning away, he
quickly wiped a tear from his eyes; a tear of overwhelming
happiness at having her back home where she truly belonged. "Mom
would be proud of you. I know I am." As he spoke, he turned and
offered a glance, a gleam in his eye; then he was gone to the
kitchen to prepare the meal.

"Yes.." Crystal said tiredly, leaning back against the chair and
staring at her father. He seemed much different than before and
it kind of worried her. Maybe it was one too many battles that
plagued his mind. Too much bloodshed that wash over his dreams
like curtains of fluid saturating his mental stability and
making it uneasy. Whatever it was, he looked to be a different
man. "The Demon is getting stronger and it really is starting to
have a hold on me. But, don't you worry your pretty head of
hair, you're daughter is strong and mighty!" She said with a
sudden burst of enthusiasm while flexing her arms with a
grin."Daddy..." Crystal started, her golden eyes glancing at him
softly; softer than they were before. "While I was away, I was
looking for Clyro.. I couldn't find her and it was making me
sad.. But, have no fear, Crystal will be here! I'm not leaving
soon. I still have to sleep, silly." She said with a grin and
yawned, leaning back and snuggling with herself within her
hoodie. The pain in her back was killing her, but she denied
showing her father the feelings and pain she was going through.
She didn't want to spoil this reunion so soon. At the mention of
her mother, Crystal quickly nodded."I.. Just go sleep now, kay?"
She mentioned, deciding now would be the best time to catch a
few hours of sleep before anything were to happen. Maybe her
dreams would be peaceful now. Maybe she could finally rest and
not be plagued by her cursed lineage.

His ears twitch as he listens to her speak, knowing something
was wrong, but that she'd tell him later, Maru simply sighed to
himself. He hated fighting, hated being away from his loved
ones, hated everything about fighting; despite loving the thrill
of battle. However, focused on fixing his beloved daughter a
decent meal, a smile crossed his face; a genuine smile. This was
it, this was what he'd truly wanted, this was his paradise;
taking care of and being with his daughter. Hearing her speak,
he chuckled softly and placed the items on the tray; slowly
gathering them into a meal. "Alright dear, just relax for now.
We'll see about finding your friend, and other things later."
Walking back in, quietly, he placed the tray on the table in
front of her and took a seat. "if you want, we should have some
bonding time sometime."

It must have been a few hours, or even a few minutes, but
Crystal couldn't tell how long she had been out once she finally
woken up from her prone state to the smell of her father's
cooking. It had been ages since she had a home cooked meal, and
longer still since it had been prepared by her very own father.
Seemed like he was good at something other than killing after
all; Crystal, disliking violence, was very happy about this. She
enjoyed how he was always able to protect his loved ones
without even a bat of an eyelash, but he seemed to enjoy
fighting beyond that. Stretching, Crystal watched her father
sitting next to her, as if a protective sentinel, not allowing
anything to harm his beloved daughter. "Hey, Daddy.." Crystal
groggily uttered as she sat up and rubbed her eyes with a yawn.
"That smells so good." She said as she moved to take in the
scent of the wonderful meal. As she began to eat, she giggled to
herself. "Daddy, I know you miss me and all, but I'm a big girl
now. I wont fall off of the bed when I sleep! You don't have to
watch me anymore.." She said, laughing while finishing her food.
She ate quickly, as if she was starved for months, and in no
time, she was done eating. "Oh boy!" Crystal exclaimed, her eyes
turning a shade of silver. "So, how have you been since I seen
you last? I don't think I have had the chance to ask you that.."

He chuckled, listening to her, realizing she was right; in one
sense, at least. In another sense, though, she was still -and
forever would be- the little girl he and Kit had; his darling
little princess; no matter how grown up she'd become. "I know
you're not a little girl, sweetheart." He offered a soft smile,
a slight tear would form but be quickly dispatched by a quick
brush of his eyelids. It was hard to cope with the fact that she
was right, though he was immensely proud that she was growing up
and had made it this far.
'I may not have to, but you know I'm going to, little one' He
thought to himself, listening to her. When she asked what he'd
been doing, her father couldn't help but sigh; he'd tell her, if
anyone, the truth about what he'd been doing. "I've been okay I
guess. Haven't been fighting much anymore, except in
tournaments, but those aren't often at all. I know you don't
enjoy fighting. I'm starting not to, as well."
He paused, for a moment, chuckling, before he would continue;
deciding to break some news to her. "Oh, and sweety, what would
you say, to a possible step-sister?" Wondering how she'd take
such a question, he continued. "What about you hun? How've you
been? I know you won't lie to me, and you don't have to."

It was. . Actually nice to see her father smile. For her,
it was a beautiful sight. The man always seemed to have this. .
. Smug deadly glare about his face; war torn and riddled with
the lack of compassion. But, now, there was something different
about him. His eyes seemed to glow with a foreign softness that
she hadn't seen in ages. But, there was something more within
those eyes of his, something she noticed as she moved closer to
his face, simply gazing into the dark tormented soul he
possessed. Crystal tilted her head, causing red locks to tumble
out to the side of her face, curtaining her left eyes. She had a
worried look upon her face, though she wouldn't speak on it just
yet. "I know you wont listen to me, Daddy." Crystal spoke with a
shrug and smiled softly, tilting her head back to it's normal
position and sweeping the loose strands of hair back behind her
ear. "I'm glad that you protect me like you do. Maybe I could
learn to protect people myself.." She said, placing her hand
upon his own while giving him a softer smile.
"I cringe at fighting, but I know it's a necessity.. I just
don't like random and unprovoked violence.." She confessed,
rubbing the back of her father's large hand with her thumb.
Wide, almost fox like eyes still locked into a passionate gaze
with his own, trying to seek out that odd feeling she's getting
from him. "That's lovely!" She instantly perked up and giggled.
"You shouldn't waste your life away like that, Daddy. I know who
you are and how you are. I can't stop you. But, maybe if you
have something to fight for, you'll find it more meaningful. You
look so heavy with your life. Why do you seem like you're so
down and burdened? You're holding so much on your shoulders.."
She offered her best analysis upon the situation. Crystal wasn't
the brightest tool in the shed by a long shot, but she had her
moments where her over nineteen thousand years of life showed.
She shrugged and tilted her head at the news that she had just
been given. "A step sister? I would never use a sister for
steps, Daddy!! That would be so mean." She objected and stood to
her feet while her father asked about her.
Of course Crystal wouldn't lie to her father; what need for
that would she have? In her race, her age was still pretty
young. She could be considered around twenty in human years;
damn them dog years. She wrapped her arms around herself,
clutching them with her black painted fingers. She shuddered a
bit while walking out to the window to look outside. The scenery
was beautiful, lush, and vibrantly full of life. "I've been.. On
a search for someone I missed. But, I couldn't find her anymore.
So, I gave up and just wanted to learn more about myself; my
demon. She's. . She's so hell bent on violence, destruction,
pain... Everything mom taught me against. I know it's my nature,
but I really hate it, Daddy. I don't know what to do. The scars
on my back seemed to be from her wings. I always wake up in a
burning village.." Crystal turned back to her father, her eyes
welling with tears. "Daddy? Am I a monster?"

He smiled when she touched his hand, tilting his head slightly,
watching her. Their eyes locked, when she spoke, he could only
nod. When he finally responded, he chuckled slightly. "It's just
that I'm worried about you." Then, pausing, so as not to laugh,
he nods to her and continues. "No sweety, a step sister isn't
someone you use for steps. That means she's not related by
blood, but instead, that she's related because of the parents.
In other words, you're my daughter, and the other parent's
child, if she has one, would be your sister or brother, but not
by blood. Understand, pumpkin? However, such a thing doesn't
seem destined to happen, at least not yet."
Standing up, his tails swaying about behind himself, Maru makes
his way to her and listens. When she turns, he sees the tears
welling up, and gently cups her cheek; gently wiping the tears
from her eyes before taking her in his arms and softly caressing
her back for a moment. "You're no monster, sweety, I promise you
that." As he spoke, he decided she should know the truth about
what they were. "Crystal, my darling daughter, we..
Andromedians.. we're a race of beings who are more closely
related to destruction than any other species in existence. That
doesn't make us bad, however, we don't have to destroy things.
We control destruction. I'll teach you if you want. It may be
unpleasant, at times, but it's the only way."

"I know. It makes me feel special, daddy. Like I'm the only
person in the worrrllldd!" Crystal said in a sing song way,
enjoying the company of her father. People always said that
ignorance is bliss, and Crystal seemed the most ignorant of them
all. She wasn't the smartest apple in the tree, but she was
always happy and always seemed to be able to find a smile in any
situation. She tried her best to understand things, but she was
so childish and secluded, that even after all of these years,
she was still as innocent as a child. "Oh. I see. A little kiddy
kid! I can't wait! It should be really fun to have someone to
talk to. I hope that you're happy, daddy. You seem so sad all
the time, or angry. I know you have to so people would respect
you, but could you be happy, for me?" Crystal turned to look at
her father square in the eyes with a warm smile plastered upon
her face. Even though she was in pain, she managed to hide the
fact from her father.
Even though she was tearing up, she still managed to smile, her
lips trembled though, but she felt comfort within the hands of
her father. The large hand in which she nuzzled into, caused her
to sniffle, but the tears soon stopped. She listened to her
father's words and nodded. He wasn't making any sense to her, so
she turned to stare out of the window once more while he was
still speaking. "I'm nota monster but I destroy things?! That's
exactly WHY I'm a monster!" Crystal cried out while turning back
to her father. Tears raging from her eyes, which seemed to glow
a dangerous color. The building shook in terror from her voice
as she growled in anger and sadness. "You teach me then. So I
could not be a monster anymore. I don't care. I just want to be
better! And not a monster!" She said, leaning against her father
in tears. "I will be good and no monster. This monster inside
hates everything and I need to control it.." She whispered,
taking deep breaths.

Recognizing the anger and sadness as his own, Maru could only
wince as he thought back to his early life and the struggles
when the humans and vampires on their homeworld had tried to
exterminate his kind. The pain he felt, the pain his beloved
daughter now felt, a pain no being could handle without facing
destruction. When she turned and went against him,
instinctively, the father wrapped his arms around his daughter;
embracing her, holding her closely, stroking her back softly. He
knew, eventually, she'd catch on but it was still painful; truly
painful, for him to watch her struggle with such pain. Something
which made the once tyrannical lord's heart ache with an all too
human pain.
'Maybe.. Maybe I have chosen the wrong way to live my life, so
far... I've been so self centered.. Not even realizing the
enemies who tried to exterminate us have been dead for
centuries.. Have I really been so terrible to those I've met,
throughout the ages?' He thought to himself, before quickly
dismissing it for later. Nodding to Crystal, a soft smile found
it's way to his lips.. The first true smile he'd shown since he
and Kit would spend the days together with their daughter, as a
family. Speaking softly, Maru reached up and lightly cupped the
back of her head, holding her close, rocking slowly, whispering.
"Shh.. I'll teach you sweety. I'll teach you how to control your
other side. It's the very least I can do for you. I'll not allow
you to go through life like I had to."
Closing his eyes, taking but a second to take a breath, he
thought about what to say next; a difficult task, but he'd made
the silent vow to be the best father he could be for his
precious little girl. "We control destruction, and, in a sense,
time. I know it's difficult for you. It was for me too, but
you're not going to go through this alone. I'll be here, with
you, every step of the way, okay?" Then, a thought occurred to
him; a brilliant idea. "Hmm.. I have an idea. I realize I'm
obviously older than you, and more developed, but we do share
many of the same abilities. It may be a little scary for you, at
first, but if you're truly willing, I'll demonstrate for you.
There's plenty of trees and plant life around, so there's no
real harm to be done."
Hoping she'd understand what he was trying to say, Maru leaned
down and pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. Then, taking a
moment, he looked up to the ceiling where the moon would be if
they'd been outside before returning his gaze to her. "I have a
ton of things to teach you. I hope you'll understand more, once
I start telling you about where we're from and the good and
positive things we're capable of. For every bad thing we can do,
there's an equal or better good thing we can do. Destroying and
creating, loving and hating, hurting and healing. The list goes
on. Want me to tell you a story, from when I was younger?"
