       The Fire Nation
By: Pokemon World Date: September 4, 2020, 4:04 pm

Having gone through years of reform since the 100 Year War, the
Fire Nation now stands as a beacon of Peace for the world. Still
home to a powerful Military, The Fire Nation is seen as a proud
protector, and the Current Firelord is dedicated to maintaining
       that status.

Outside of the Fire Nation, a massive group of strange people
wearing White has ammassed. It's uncertain where these people
have come from but their numbers are easily in the hundreds.
They appear to be waiting peacefully, while a small group of
them make their way toward the Firelord's palace. Who are these
strange people? And why have they come here?

It had only been a few days since Bek had left home, but already
she felt the growing pang in her stomach of missing her family.
Even her father drifted at the edge of her thoughts, his stern
face etched into her memory like carved stone. She could only
imagine how relieved he would feel to be rid of her. She didn't
even get a goodbye on the day she left, despite him knowing she
would be gone for some time. Well, it was his loss and she
       pushed him from her mind.
She was reaching the edge of the Fire Nation now, having
travelled most of the way on foot, and in the distance she could
see something strange. A gathering of white? She narrowed her
eyes to squint, trying to see what it was, but had no luck. She
would have to wait until she was nearer. Pulling a strand of
water from her hip pouch with a gentle drag of her wrist, she
drew the water to her lips and sipped. It was cool and soothing
to her dry throat, so she raised a few droplets to her face to
       cool her skin too.
It was going to be at least another half hour before she was
close to the mass of white, but even longer if she didn't get
moving. With an aching sigh from the soreness of her feet, she
continued on, hoping that whoever they were, they would be
       friendly.

Ichi had just finished a big delivery to our newest, "beloved,"
fire lord and his closest troops. They required a symbol of
their true protection. A weapon that could produce fire without
their own bending influence. Though, this delivery may had
lightened his load it seemed to have put him in a bit of a
tricky circumstance as he sat, meditating, a bit away from the
nearest path and disguised by trees. That overly long, sheathed,
blade rested over his lap as he was trapped behind the wall of
white cloaks that gathered to block his exit from the kingdom.
"What do you think, friend?" He spoke aloud with closed eyes as
he observed with his mild bending ability: feeling the water in
the area move and feel. Hoping Sai could feel what he was
feeling. Naturally, his words went unanswered in any
conventional sense; considering he was talking to a sword. Yet,
he got an idea of what the demon may be thinking...
This may be a world of peace to the new born eye, but, Ichi was
raised on strict practices and beliefs. Weapon makers. Forge
masters. In a world full of great powers, and more importantly,
great differences, peace had no room to thrive for too long.
These mysterious figures seemed to resonate the feeling of an
omen to him... Of course he could be wrong. They could be
protecting the kingdom... But, wasn't it already the most
powerful in the land? Either way... He felt more comfortable
       watching... Waiting..
Yet, his smile only increased as it seemed Sai did have some
input on the conversation. Soon, Ichi's power seemed to have a
subtle change. To sense with a power that was far beyond the
threshold of his own: bloodbending. He could feel every motion
in the veins of a small body... A little girl; headed towards
the mass of white cloaks guarding her way of the path. Ichi only
letting out a bit of a laugh. "Is that concern from a demon?"
The very moment that contort had left Ichi's lips the powers
were cut off; only amusing the boy more. "Don't worry. I won't
       tell anyone."
With those final words to the blade the boy's eyes had opened
after hours of being in this state; bringing him back to this
world of colorful greens, reds, browns, and blues. Only adding
to his amusement and giving him the courage to rise from his
frozen pose. Forced to hold the blade's sheath as it was too
long to hang from his hip as he made his first step through the
thinning woods. His heavy, weapon and tool filled, cloak
refusing to flow with the motions. His heavy boots finally
hitting upon the path between the girl and the mass of white
cloaks. Though, instead of going for the girl he merely turned
away from her approach and looked to the mass of white with his
own eyes once more, contemplating, as he began bending two water
droplets from moisture in the air: impatiently juggling them
       above his right palm. "Hm...."

With half-closed eyes, Bek listened to the world around her. It
felt peaceful and at ease; birds twittered, the wind gently
caressed her cheek and even the soft pad, pad of her feet on the
ground below had a soothing rhythm. She hummed quietly to
herself to this rhythm as she walked, a tune her mother had
hummed around the home when she was a child. It was comforting
to her, as though she walked alongside her.
It was these thoughts that were disrupted as she looked up
further along the path, now drawing near to the white clothed
group, to find herself looking at a stranger. She paused
briefly, her eyes drawn to the sword at his hip. She had never
really come across many weapons. Being new to the open world and
having been raised on a farm, the only weapons she had seen had
been ones only crops would fear. They didn't even slaughter
       their own meat.
From behind him, she could not see the water about his hand but
she could feel it, the ebb and flow of his bending controlling
the droplets. Was he someone she should avoid? Or was he
friendly? If there was one thing her mother had taught her, it
was to trust no one. Even benders of her own kind. So it was
with extreme caution and only after careful consideration that
she continued along the path until she were but a few meters
back from him where she then stopped.
For a moment, she debated avoiding him and simply going around -
but he had stopped in her path, seemingly deliberately, and she
needed to know why. Could it be related to the figures in white?
Were they dangerous and he stopping her from getting closer? Or
was there another reason? Hand at the ready, hovering over the
open mouth of her water pouch should she need her bending, Bek
       cleared her throat.
"Ahem," she brushed her free hand through her hair, moving it
away from her eyes to have clearer vision of the stranger.
"Excuse me, sir, do you know why those people gather there?" She
tried to put some semblance of courage in her voice but hearing
it back, she knew it would sound false and meek. She may be 16,
but she was still meek and new to the world.

She had gotten his attention and a turn of his head from the
very moment her feet had stopped moving upon the earth. Though,
he still did not grant a full turn around to face her just yet.
Letting out a bit of a sigh as her words had finally escaped:
those few juggling droplets seeming to steam up back into the
air. "That's a shame..." His figure finally turning to face her
with a bit of a childish, absent, contemplation on them.
"You see... I'm not from around here... And I was hoping you'd
know that exact thing!" He let out a bit of a chuckle as he had
turned to look to her; now having his full attention. His
appearance had seemed kind, though, the many weapons he carried
on him could occasionally be glimpsed if one would look closely
under his cloak. ".... But, since ya' don't... Maybe ya got a
       good way to... Sneak around?"
Despite all those mixed symbols on the man there was a set of
monk's beads cast around his neck, only complimenting his soft
smile. He could feel the girl's uncertainty as Sai made the boy
feel the uneasiness in her blood boil, yet, that small canteen
would not help a young waterbender such as herself against
hundreds of, potentially well trained, firebenders. Even
together, something told him, their skill in waterbending
couldn't pull them out of a mess like that.

After some time, the Firelord emerged from the Capital,
accompanied by two of his own attendants, as well as the three
white-clad men who had come in search of him. He looked out over
the sea of people with wide eyes, and realized that this was a
far bigger situation than he had anticipated. He stepped
forward, and raised his arms to gather the attention of the
Nomads, before projecting his voice eloquently.
"Attention Light Clan! I am Firelord Sosuke! Your Chief has come
to me, telling me of your plight, and I have empathize with your
situation! I would love to offer all of you refuge here in the
Capital, however, we simply do not have the space for such a
       large gathering!"
There was an overall sense of fading hope throughout the crowd.
"What I can do, however, is set up a camp for you all in the
Barracks of one of our vacant bases, only a few short miles from
here! I know you're all tired from your travels! But if you can
hold out just a while longer, my attendants will lead you to a
place where you can all rest and fill your bellies! You have the
aid of the Fire Nation behind you!"
The crowd filled with uproarious cheers, and within the hour,
everyone was taking off toward the Base!

Seeing his head turn, Bek shifted her weight to her heels and
watched him carefully. She was still unsure of who he was and
she knew to be cautious of strangers. His sigh puzzled her, had
he been expecting a different reaction from her? Her brow
furrowed but she waited for him to turn before she said
anything. However when he did turn, he wasn't at all what she
had thought him to be. His kind demeanour relaxed her and she
allowed herself to lower her hand from her water pouch. It
didn't seem like there would be a confrontation here.
"Oh," she chewed on her lower lip thoughtfully and glanced back
toward the group in white. "No, I'm afraid I'm not from here
either." Her thoughts drifted back towards her home on the farm
briefly - it was within the Fire Nation but far from here. At
his question, she looked towards the Capital beyond the white
clothed strangers and narrowed her eyes. "Well, do we know that
they are a danger?" She turned her attention back to him,
curious of his answer when her gaze was caught by something
beneath his cloak. Weapons? Now that she studied him closer, she
could see the unusual combination of the items on his person and
her curiosity grew. What sort of monk carried weapons? This
really was an unusual gentleman... but at least he didn't seem
to be a danger to her.
Movement pulled her eye towards the Capital as the Firelord
appeared before the crowd. Her eyes widened and she clutched at
the satchel of her shoulder bag, watching what happened with
bated breath. If the Firelord was offering them safe space and
food, the strangers surely couldn't be dangerous, right?
"What do you think?" She offered the question to the stranger
before her, though her eyes were still watching the swarm of
white. "If the Firelord trusts them, perhaps they're not
dangerous people? Maybe we don't need to sneak." She smiled and
looked up at him. Although she had only just met him, she
secretly hoped their journey would join paths. The road had been
lonely so far, and he was the first person she had really spoken
to since leaving home. She felt it would be a shame if they were
to have such a brief passing and then part.

Sai had decided to leave Ichi with his own senses now that he
was sitting before the girl; no bloodbending to feel the girl's
anxiety and suspicions. Perhaps his way of honing the boy's
warrior instinct as Ichi's keen eyes would notice the girl
looking him over. Trying to piece together the puzzle of good
and evil that was his own attire. Of course, his clothes may
have screamed luxury and harmony, they held those tools of
destruction she couldn't help but glance upon and was also
covered in debris from his travels: seldom bothering to stay in
any particular place. Even for a night.
Though, she was a smart girl. She was putting everything
together. Not only about him, but about the crowd they debated
upon. Of course, of favorable firelord may have had a bit of
input on that revelation. A bit of a chuckle escaping his lips
at the whole situation as he nodded to her in reply. "Well,
looks like you're right. Guess I should learn to think better of
others in a world of peace, huh?" He laughed a bit at the words
before turning around to see the mass of white seeming to
       dissipate in the distance.
As they headed towards the camps that name the firelord spoke
seemed to radiate through his mind. "The light clan..?" He
whispered to himself almost absent mindedly, as if trying to
find some form of familiarity in the name. Though, he could not
quite put his finger on it before he would turn back to the
girl. "How about a strong, smart, girl like you helps a meek
little blacksmith like me get past this big scary world so I can
get to the Capital?" He spoke in a very amused tone at his own
words, but, there was truth in them.
He guessed she was likely looking for a water bending teacher,
and, to leave the fire kingdom one must first acquire a boat.
So, with his money and this girl's innocent charm, they may just
be able to strike a deal at the local docks. Even then, who
better to sail than two water benders? Even if they were
somewhat lax in ability. Either way his smile remained eager for
an answer as he motioned for the path ahead; only needing his
answer to continue on with this new companion.

His question made her smile. It was the same sort of thought she
was thinking herself, she had judged him quickly to be a danger
and yet he was turning out to be quite the opposite. She nodded
in response and tucked her hands into the pockets of her robe as
she watched the distant strangers move. Where had they come
from? And what were their intentions? Light clan? So many
questions, yet she knew it would probably be a while before she
had all the answers. It took her a moment before she realised
what he had really said, her thoughts were still whirring so she
       paused before answering.
"Me?" She blinked, then let out a small laugh. "I don't think
you've got a very good eye. I am by no means strong. Smart,
maybe." She smiled slyly and raised a brow. She certainly knew a
few tricks from having grown up with older brothers. Being the
only girl, she had to learn how to hold her own against them and
size certainly wasn't her advantage. It sounded like a good plan
though, the Capital scared her a little with its size and she
would very much like company whilst there. Sure, he was a
stranger, but so far he was the closest thing to a companion she
       had.
Her fingers toyed with the bangle around her wrist briefly,
tracing the water-tribe symbol etched into it. Maybe if he could
help her navigate the Capital, he could help her find some way
to find her true parents? No, she couldn't burden a stranger
with that sort of responsibility. She pulled her sleeve down to
her wrist over her bangle and breathed heavily, then smiled.
"I will travel with you. I am sure my presence will keep you
safe until we reach our destination." She laughed as she eyed
his weaponry again, knowing that it were far more likely he
would be the protector out of the two of them. "My name is
Bekorrah," She held her hand out for him to shake, the same way
she had seen her father greet men many times over and smiled.
"But you can call me Bek."
