       Where it begins again
By: Entropy Date: June 5, 2017, 12:49 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The world is as diverse and beautiful as it's shadows are
dark and her evils are horrible. There stretch great mountain
ranges, and great rivers, oceans and deserts alike. There stand
forests as old as time with trees reaching to the clouds above.
Wildlife flourishes beyond the reach of the varied races who
inhabit this great blue jewel, and the fauna of a million
different varieties spread across every inch of her surface.
There are weathered monuments and cities constructed of stone
and mineral; villages of mere wood and thatch, entire
civilizations and communities of gathered creatures and ten fold
as many untouched corners where no hand or foot has ever laid
       claim.
Wondrous spectacles of nature in the form of animal,
miraculous phenomenon, and magic alike abound in this world
where so many exist. The wind sways the branches, the earth
shifts unnoticed underfoot, and the days pass without care or
concern for the frivality of the races and their ways. Splendor
and awe are found around each corner, and with such beauty, so
too does the darkness have its roots and fingers dug in. Dark
places; of evil and malice, riddle the planet and usher their
whispered words of damnation and destruction to those foolish
enough to listen. There lingers a scent of pain and anguish
amidst many of the great landscapes; often matching the foul
sight of decay and death, but all is not lost nor ruined. It is
in balance; as it should always remain.
There is light and beauty in this world; darkness and
despair, happiness and strife, and all those who are fortunate
enough to wander this world or explore the depth of her
       greatness, know of that truth. Many suffer, and many die;
disease is not uncommon, nor is famine unheard of. There is
blight and disaster, destruction that scales onward to almost
cataclysmic levels, and yet the people who survive each new dawn
grow stronger and wiser. The races have mastered their domains
and fight whole heartedly to protect kin and land from whatever
lurks within the shadows. Just as the shadows and its dark
denizens seek to unravel the prosperity and peace of their
       neighbors, without hesitation.

"Now what am I doing here?" A soft sigh passes his curled
lips, as he steps from the shadow of of ancient oak tree. The
morning had arrived and the dew on the grass was cool to the
touch; the morning sun shining dimly, still giving off enough
light to illuminate his frame. He was a tall, slender man; his
head smooth and reflective of the morning sun. His body adorned
by traditional monk attire; a long, wrinkled, orange robe
covering the entirety of his frame. A antaravasaka covering his
waist, a pair of finely crafted, wooden sandals hugging his feet
and a set of rosary beads draped around his neck.
His steel blue eyes take in the beauty of the open field
before him; marveling at the powerful river flowing just feet
away from him. The majestic wildlife a flourish in this
beautiful territory, a true masterpiece to behold. Slowly, he
begins to walk in the direction of the river, closing the
distance between the two; before he came upon the outskirt of
the roaring waters. "Well, I don't think I will be able to swim
through or jump over this." His hand raises to his chin, as one
of his long, skinny fingers extend and tap his chin impatiently.
Another soft sigh passes his now frowned lips, as his hand moves
from his chin and extends out before him about chest level. His
fingers unravel; extending outwards. A swirl of energy flickers
and forms around him; appearing and dancing around his frame
slowly. Surrounded by the crimson flow of energy; a spark of it
ignites in his hand and slowly forms into two crimson orbs. They
rotate and gravitate around one another; dancing and growing as
they do. Starting off at the size of a normal human eye, they
expanded rapidly; harvesting and collecting the energy that his
       aura was putting off
With the slight thrust of his hand, one of the now golf ball
       size orb shoots to the opposite side of the river before him;
while the other stayed before him at chest level. "This is going
to feel awful..." Without another word, he clenches his fist and
strikes the orb before him. Reality around his hand and his form
seemed to twist and wither; as he disappears into thin air.
Though it was lightning fast, his eyes caught sight of the
mirrored reality that he traveled through; it was beautiful, but
ultimately empty. Time seemed to flow quicker in his pocket
dimension; for as quickly as he entered, he disappeared. The
reality that surrounded the orb opposite of him begins to twist
and wither, as the first one had. His body appeared out of
nothing and was thrown to the ground a few feet from the orb. No
flash, no sign that the orb had been there, or that he had
traveled through it. His face pressed to the earth, as he uses
his hands flat against the earth to force himself onto his knees
and finally back onto his feet. "Every time. This is why I can't
have a nice robe." His hands begin to find and pat any dirt, or
grass spots now on his once bright orange robe.

Having been momentarily distracted by the whispered
thoughts and emotions of the dragon soul bound to his own, Alyx
was almost entirely unaware of another presence nearby. He had
been standing midway through a near raging river; grey cloak
wrapped securely around him amidst the torrent of rapid moving
water, and yet he appeared to no more hinder the water than
would a single blade of grass. It neither flowed around him or
crashed against him; moving through his wispy fog warped form
withut hindrance as it raced onward down river. The peerless
blue eyes of the dragonkin wanderer, the only visible attributes
of the man should he ever be noticed by any fortunate enough to
percieve him for even an instant, were the only things that
shone from within the dark recesses of his cloak's hood. They
stared with curious contempt towards the man nearby who had
slipped the bonds of reality and crossed the river in an
       instant.
The dragon glared and howled inside of Alyx's mind; racing
through thoughts of detection and evasion, but to the man
standing impossibly still in the flowing current, it was of
little concern at that time. He knew he would go unseen; his
cloak and the aura of water vapor concealing him almost entirely
from sight, as his own intrinsic link to the lore of dragonkin
and the ancient magics of the water literally hiding him from
focus and thought. He would stand there, resolute and still,
ever vigilant to not give away his position or bring attention
to any of his movements, as the oddly dressed man rose from the
dirt and brushed debris and dirt from his clothing.
Alyx had no interest in the man and was about to turn and
leave when the dragon began to whisper its wants; its forceful
thoughts and the illusion-like imagery of its emotions
momentarily halting him as it whined and growled simultaneously.
It wanted the crimson; the shiny and pretty, the orbs it had
seen just moments before. It wanted them like all dragons want
for treasure. For its horde, for the collection, for it to guard
and rest near. Alyx knew in his very soul the dragon would not
let him walk away, but he was also wary of approaching. There
were few in this world who could notice him for but a fleeting
instant, and even fewer who would even realize they had seen or
heard him if they did, but he could not afford to be tempted too
far away from the safety of his seclusion. He would grant the
dragon a moment of quiet happiness and draw closer while
searching for a way to appease it and still leave. He didnt wish
to be caught off guard, but the duality of his soul knew no
struggle greater than defeating the whims and drive of his
       dragon nature.

So with steps making no sound; body almost invisible and
vibrationally impossible to identify, masked through the
       spectrums
by shifting hues and waves of rolling fog as well as the
dragonkin magic that hid him from thought, Alyx moved to the
nearby river bank and stepped out of the water with little
effort. Beneath the grey cloak one hand came to rest on an
unseen hilt, while the other rested at the edge of a sheath.

There was little more than fifty feet between the dual-soul
wanderer and the new man who had gained the dragon's attention.
Though the distance would not matter lest the man be of
incredible focus and dedication to one of the few arts allowing
prescience or true sight beyond sight. Alyx would wait there
silently; watching and appreciating the quieting dragon
whispers, hoping to have the beast grow bored and allow him to
once again move onward, alone, through the wilderness, and away
from eyes that could be used agianst him.

Having cleansed his robe of all the grass stains, Kendall
allowed another soft sight to pass his lips; silent, but the
expansion and subsequent compression of his chest allowing the
sigh become animated. His head turns to where he had traveled
from, his steel blue eyes looking over the forest line where he
had initially appeared. Something felt amiss, he could shake
this feeling of being watched or stalked, but to his surprise
looking back, there was nothing or no one. "Maybe I am just
going crazy...." He looked forward and shook his head, paranoia
was always an issue that he dealt with; but his past giving him
reason to be cautious. "I guess it couldn't hurt to have
       contingency plans."
With this, his hand extended outwards once again to chest
level. His fingers unfurling and leaving his hand open and palm
flat. Another flicker of his crimson aura sparks and swirls
around him; though this time, there was another shade introduced
and intertwining with the crimson. Emerald green energy joins
the crimson energy, dancing and swirling around him violently
now. Kendall closed his eyes, for using two colors would take
more focus and time than just the crimson itself. With a few
moments of silence, two orbs of energy begin to form within the
palm of his hand; one of the emerald shade and one of the
crimson shade. They gravitated to one another, rotated around in
the middle of his extended hand; both orbs the size of an
       average baseball.
With his eyes holding closed, the orbs began to harvest his
aura; growing twice the size of their start. During his minutes
of focus, he felt the eyes on him intensified; the feeling of
dread and curiosity taking his mind. His focus did not falter,
though the orbs dimmed some from these new feelings. He shook
       his head once more, ridding himself of these negative feelings;
this renewed focus causing the orbs to double in size once more.
Both orbs now the size of kick balls, he thrust his hands
outwards once again; forcing the orbs to fire out in opposite
       directions.
The crimson orb curved around his frame and shot back to tree
line that he came from; rotating and spinning in place. As the
emerald orb shot straight in front of him twenty to thirty feet
away from him. His eyes open and his head lifts, as he looks to
both orbs, before bowing his head once more, his hands cupped on
front of his face."Expand." With this single word, his aura
flares out with a bright flash; both orbs begin to splinter and
fire outwards in a radius of fifty feet around the area that
they inhabited. The initial orb shrinking in size, as more golf
ball size orbs of each corresponding color takes up space in the
surrounding area. Within a matter of two or three minutes; sixty
orbs of crimson and emerald float in place behind and before of
Kendall. One orb of each begin to gravitate to him, rotating
       around his frame.
"This should be more than enough..." A silent sigh of relief
bellows from within him. Now his attention came to the alarming
feeling that took his focus briefly during his ritual. "There is
someone here... I have no idea where, but I am being watched..."
Talking to himself was not new to Kendall, in fact he was known
for carrying out insane conversations with himself. With
relatively quick movement, he plops himself onto the ground; his
legs crossing beneath him. His hands extending out to both
flanks, his thumb and pointer finger connect at the tip. During
his time with the monks on his travels, they had taught him what
it meant to improve his focus and dedication; through meditation
and devout training. His eyes closed and his head hung slightly,
as his mind cleared and no thoughts ran through his mind.

If Alyx was ever capable of persuading the dragon's urges
away, now was not the time. Its eager rumbling thoughts; a near
violent pulsing consciousness full of envy and lust for
possession, quite literally overwhelmed the man and all of his
senses momentarily. The vivid illusionscape created in his mind
lapsed like waves against an unseen shore; green eyes staring
back into his soul, from within him to declare without a doubt
that there would be no vacating the area. The dragon was now
hungry; the ravenous hunger of a beast unsated in ages turning
the peerless blue of the man's eyes into a swimming sea of
seafoam and turquoise. Alyx knew he would have to do as the
dragon wished, unless he wanted nothing more than constant
howling and guttural detest for the coming months.
As Alyx recollected himself; aligning once more both halves
of himself, he witnessed the creation and distribution of
multiple pulsing orbs. He patiently watched as each split,
divided and spread outward to encompass the entirety of the area
near the supposed monk. Dancing emerald and crimson flashes
splayed out across the area as each came to rest and waited for
their master's command. The wanderer did not know what the
objects were; dragon eyes gleeming and wanting more and more to
reach out and take hold of each and every one, and as the final
micro orb came to still its movement nearest him, he almost
lingered too long on the idea of doing such. The dragon came
upon him at the precipice of indecision and narrowly avoided
knocking him unwilling into the action.
"Take, Have, Hoard, Control" Each word came with a flood of
colorful imagery; dancing spectacles and vivid emotions playing
out amidst his straining mind, and only with his years of
patience and practice could Alyx fight back the inexorable
onslought of dragon lust. He battled to near wits end with the
monstrous half which coveted all things it was not in possession
of, and only through sheer force of will did he escape unscathed
from the clutches of the steadily maddening emotions and
thoughts. He would not be dissuaded either. He would not let
suffer his soul for the plight of his unkempt half. He could not
afford to be captured by a moment in time and lost to the
unending desires battling throughout him. If he were to give in,
so too would the dragon within grow bolder and more dominant.
Surely ruining any and all chances of being free from the
torment they both fled from ages ago.
With but a quick inward shout; dominant and demanding, Alyx
asserted himself as well as calmed the serpant's lust. He
tightened his grip on the hilt of the unseen, sheathed sword,
and took but a few more steps forward. He would not linger in
that place, but he would give the dragon enough to rest easy for
a time being. Such was the compromise; the only action available
at that moment, and as much as Alyx knew it to be a dangerous
venture, he moved through the secure netting of the floating
orbs and drew even closer to the now seated man. The nearest orb
passed unscathed through his body; fleeting fog and recoiling
water droplets dispersing and reconnecting as he moved straight
through the space it occupied without ever touching it, and as
his last step brought him to within ten feet of the man
seemingly in prayer or meditation, he stopped.
Any closer and just a single breath; an erratic or vibrant
thought from the dragon, could breach the sanctity of his
protective vibrations and ancient magic. He would move no
further, and look on at the man while the dragon laughed with
joy whilst surrounded by so many otherworldly jewels...

Through the silence and tranquility of his mind; his emotions
begin to flood back to him. A presence became apparent through
his intensive meditation; the level of focus allowing him to
follow whatever it's movements were. His eyes widen with abrupt
surprise; a look of concern now plasters his face. "I know you
are there... Where exactly, I have no idea, but I know you are
closeee..." His words were quite and monotone; his eyes
continuing to look forward as he raises his head. "I do not know
what you want, but you will not find it here." As he finishes
speaking, he forces his legs to extend; so that he may taking a
standing position. He could not shake this jarring feeling, this
fear and paranoia that attempt to cripple him; a constant cold
       sensation shooting down his spine.
The lengthy fingers of his right hand curl quickly; forming a
tight fist. His nails dig roughly into his callused palm,
allowing drops of blood to trickle down his wrist and forearm.
As his shoulder shifts, his arm cocks back; and within a manner
of moments, his hand thrust forward and makes contact with the
dancing emerald orb. Once more, reality withers and twist around
the orb and his fist; causing a flash and the subsequent
disappearance of his frame. He once more sent him self hurling
through his pocket dimension; the landscape mirroring the one
that he previously physically inhabited. Before he could
reappear in main reality, his eyes caught a brief glance of the
being that stalked him. Though he had no real time to take note
       of any physical attributes.
Another flash of vibrant emerald occurs, as reality bends
around an orb about thirty feet forward of his previous
position. As he seemingly appears from thin air, he is expelled
from his travels; this time landing on one knee. "Holy shit. I
have never actually landed that!" A brief moment of excitement
gives way back to his concern and paranoia. His radiating blue
eyes scan the area before him; looking to where he spotted the
being in his dimension. Nothing was there, no tracks, no sounds
and no smell. "Where.... What..... Who exactly are you and what
do you want with me?" His words carried on the wind, not quite a
yell, but loud enough for anyone in the immediate vicinity to
       hear.
Kendall was not sure if he was biting off more than he could
chew, anyone with the ability to hide themselves to this
capacity; was not someone you want to be on the bad side of.
       This situation became increasingly unnerving as time passed;
forcing Kendall to begin considering another means of escape.
His aura flares up violently once more, though the aura were
tinted of the sky above this time. His right hand moving to hide
behind his back, fingers unfurled and open; prepared to create
       another means of travel.

Alyx, neither interested in, nor concerned with the
paranoia and anxious antics of the monk nearby, did not move
when the man rose and seemingly vanished. He did not look about
to discern his new whereabouts, nor did he seek to draw closer
again. Instead he stood silent, patiently waiting for the
dragon's urges to quiet, and the manic state of his soul to once
more find a peaceful solidarity and union. He knew the wyrmling
half of himself cared not for the creator of the wondrous
floating spheres, but instead for the creations themselves. The
brilliant colors, radiating aura, and shifting hues of altered
reality within them, were what the serpant wanted, and Alyx was
happily obliging it with but a stationary glimpse at all of them
       nearby.
There was no need to chase the fearful man down; to utter
words to calm or unnerve him further, so in that moment, Alyx
agreed with the beastly half of himself to simply let the man
wander so long as the orbs remained. No malice lingered near the
wanderer or emanated from him. There were no evil or dark
thoughts. No urge to harm or capture such a simple looking
living thing. To Alyx; both halves agreeing finally, the monk
was a background image to be left untouched by either thought or
action. Though in time the wyrm would surely grow more
emboldened and wish to see more of the orbs, Alyx would make
peace with that moment when it arrived. It was better for both
the monk and the wanderer if their interactions were limited to
mere glimpses through varied veils. It would not take but a few
more moments, and the monk would again forget he had ever
witnessed the wanderer at all; all thought of being followed or
watched would fade away into obscurity like fog combatting the
       heat of a desert.
So with time not on his side, and the sated desires of the
dragon momentarily allowing him a reprieve from horrendous
emotional delusions and images, Alyx loosened his grip on the
sheathed blade beneath his grey cloak, and began moving towards
the nearest emerald orb. He would walk silently and calmly to
within but a few feet; both his eyes and the dragon's focused
intently on every aspect of the amassed and opaque shifting
storm of color before him. There he would gift the serpant but a
few more moments of coveting what sight there was to behold, and
once the desire for more was quelled further, Alyx would take
his leave of the place and the monk.
       Hopefully...

"Why haven't you made your move...." His eyes continued to
scan the area before him, his gaze always catching where he had
spotted the being in his dimension. "Maybe I am overreacting. If
they, it, whatever it is wanted to attack me, it would have
happened already." His muscles and demeanor begin to relax some,
taking himself to a more relaxed standing position. His aura
       dimming it's flicker, as he pulls his hand back to his side;
curling his fingers back into a fist. Though the being hadn't
revealed itself, the amount of time it was taking to do so was
relieving to Kendall. He would never be able to fully remedy his
paranoia; but he was able to quell the intensity of it slowly.
The orbs dancing and rotating in place throughout the
landscape begin to disappear. In the manner of thirty seconds,
only ten orbs of the vibrant emerald and fiery crimson inhabit
       the area. Minus two that continued to gravitate to Kendall;
circling him in and endless dance of obedience. "I know you are
here. I don't know why you aren't revealing yourself, but I
appreciate you not attacking." His jaw muscles tighten, forcing
his jaw to clench; his teeth grinding gently. "I still don't
understand you or your motivations, so I will continue to
monitor you and your movements. His chest expands and compresses
once more; as a soft moan passes his lips.
Kendall slowly lowered himself back to the earth below, his
legs crossed under him; his hands extending out to each side
once more. As his head hangs slightly and his eyes close; his
pointer finger and thumb make contact once more and initiate the
purging of all thought running through his mind. All of his
worries, his pain, his fear, his paranoia, and his tension melt
away subsequently. He once again achieved an ascended level of
focus and peace; allowing him to see beyond his senses and
ideas. The being about forty feet away begins to become more
apparent, not their appearance, not their intention, but their
presence; the one thing that allows them to physically inhabit
       this world.
