Nitara peered over to Calia and smiled. "Air constantly
surrounds us. From the storm winds to the words of our prayers."
As they hugged the ledge she could see more black clad people,
no doubt heading to the gathering in the city . A hovercraft
bearing the police insignia passes over them. "So, i'm assuming
you're not with Capital City, solider? Is your murderer one of
those..." she paused mid sentence, watching lines drop from the
blimp and into the crowd. "...Shadow Clan?"
Every hair on her body was standing on end. The tension was
palpable even from this distance. It was never good when the
police chief was involved. She was no stranger to the
department's "business" procedures and had no intentions to
tangle with them again. Being who she was, truly Zaheer was on
her side. Still, she had never heard of this Shadow Clan before.
Were they from another land, like this girl?
A heavy rustle in the canopy below briefly sends chills through
her once more. Streaks of red flicker in the trees. Closer this
time.
"No fucking way.." she growls as a familiar scent fills her
nose.
The flashes were going in the opposite direction of them,
heading further into Capital City. "The path lead to WuLong
Forest in my vision." she advised, bringing her focus now to
landing quietly. Another brief red flash passes, this time close
enough to sway their cloud. The sound of wind chimes and the
smell of sulfur lingers behind them. With a whip like motion
Nitara snatches fog from their cover to steady their "vehicle"
before bringing them to a shaky landing.
Visibly a bit more than anxious she looked up at you, eyes
stormy grey and troubled. "From here you must travel alone. It
is not safe with me." she urged, moving quickly to dissipate
the fog. "If your path is true the spirits will guide you,
Calia" Forcing a smile to her lips the girls holds out the blade
to you. Her tribe took no prisoners, only recruits and those
were very few. "You and your beast follow this road to the
Earth Kingdom. May Zaheer guide your steps."

Nitara's statements about air actually managed to calm Calia's
nerves, even if only a little bit. How nice it must be to
command an element that's ever-present; That is unbothered by
trivial details such as location, or time of day! It spoke to
the reliability of Air, and made Calia feel more at ease riding
along with one who controlled it. Nitara was always spouting
random pieces of wisdom. It was strange, but also, somewhat
comforting! Admittedly though, Calia was a bit distracted by
the scene below. She almost missed the Monk's question. So
Capital CIty was the name of that place...
"Afraid not." She answered absently. Even now, she couldn't
shake her concern, flying over THEM of all people!
Her eyes narrowed when Nitara said the words "Shadow Clan." She
tried to recall if she had said those words out loud in her
presence, and was fairly certain that she hadn't! How did she
know? What else did she know? At any rate, there was no point in
trying to hide information she already had!
"Yes... He's one of them." She answered, staring down at the
exhausted families that had gathered. If only things hadn't
turned out this way... She looked over toward the Sun, which was
already making it's way below the Horizon, clearing the sky for
the moon and stars. It have Calia a bad feeling, but she
remained quiet.
Suddenly though, Nitara got shaken up! As if something Calia
couldn't see had attacked her, or at least obstructed her path!
Heart racing, Calia hugged Xanther with all of her might,
preparing for the worst! But after clearing their cover, Nitara
brought them down for a landing and declared that she had to go!
Calia didn't like the idea. She found comfort in having Nitara
as a guide, but she also understood that the Monk had her own
life to live. Besides, she had already put her back on the right
path, and that was more than she could have possibly asked for!
After a moment of reflection, Calia thanked her guide, and
removed a hair tie from her wrist. She stepped forward, and
handed it to Nitara with a smile. "In case you ever decide to
use your weird spirity powers to find me again!"
She winked, and hopped onto Xanther's back once more!
"See you later!" She called, as the two gallopped off toward the
forest, mentally preparing for what could potentially be their
final battle...

Nitara wrapped the hair tie around her wrist as Calia takes off
with Xanther. The entrance to capital city wasn't far and she
couldn't risk going back the same way. Her people were here but
why she did not know. She takes a moment to inhale, focusing on
the lingering scent of sulfur. Judging from the metal chime
still ringing in her ears, they were rookies, not yet able to
mask the smell from the home winds. Bells were tied to their
sleeves, purposely making stealth impossible. Your only options
were to battle or charm their target.
"1..." she counted aloud to herself. There weren't many things
that scared her. She spent her entire life surrounded in a
hallucinogenic fog. Every breath was a test of endurance. Her
bending was tested at their whim. So why was her heart pounding?
"2.." another exhale. She can feel the heat rise up her neck.
Spilling red mist from blackened lips into the air. She falls to
her knees at the base of a tree. "Sh**, not now..." The bells
rang and pounded behind her eyes. Her vision began to blur. Her
mind flashed memories of her standing at the edge of the temple,
red fog swirling thick and filling her lungs. She could feel the
rawness in her throat as she struggled to suppress its toxins.
She needed to stay in the moment.
Lifting her hands shakily she waves open palms in a windmill
pattern, the red fog snaking its way around both her and the
tree trunk. Folding her legs beneath her, she sets herself into
a meditation stance. The fog frenzies into a cyclone, covering
the woman from view.
The encounter had jarred her more than she thought. It had been
months since she last saw her home. Weeks since they gave up
chasing her down. She brings her fists together and closed her
eyes, projecting her spirit from its shell. It was the first
time projection was actually painful. She would have to be more
cautious with her bending. She hadn't siphoned the toxin
properly since she left the temple. For now she would follow
them in spirit.

"Phew!"Shadi left out a sigh of relief she had finally made it
to the Capital City and without getting caught! She didn't
expect to have made it all the way from home without her father
or the guards noticing she left. Then again she was a master at
sneaking around, she had to be if she'd ever was going to be
able to become a better bender or even travel. A journey of self
discovery. The busy streets calling to her. She held her bag
tight and smiled as she entered into this busy city.
Everyone seemed to be in such a hurry. Shadi looked around
confused and out of place. "Excuse me.." she attempted to grab
anyone who passed her butnremained ignored or unheard. So she
kept on wondering about the city. That was until she noticed a
crowd and many officers. Slightly nervous her father though it
would be unlike him to send out word she was missing so soon she
still didn't want to chance they were looking for her. She kept
her head down and quickly merged in with the masses and folded
out of sight.
Coming across another group of people crowding around a hurt
child crying she quickly felt the need to help. As people ran to
look for help running right by Shadi she carefully she
approached and knelt down beside the child, "Don't worry I can
help!"
"The child got burned accidently I swear!" A man was repeating
to the group nervously. As other adults standing about began to
accuse the man of lying and what ever else Shadi really wasn't
concerned about. Shadi pulled the water from a bucket near by
and bended it over the childs burnt arm. The water cooling the
burn and she moved it around swaying and swirling the water
began to glow like a light and the burn began to slowly
disappear.
The arguing stopped as they began to focus on Shadi and the
child stopped crying, looking at Shadi with wonder.
"You your a waterbender?"
"Something like that." she replied softly as she finished up and
disposed of the used water back in the bucket. She stood up and
went to wave herself off but was stopped by the many thank yous
and soft hug from the child who she had helped. The child's
mother rushing over, "Thank you so much, but you look like a
child yourself!"
"Oh, yeah of course, maybe I'm a little on the young side i
suppose but no matter I can take care of myself."
"Well we owe you greatly! Are you traveling alone? Do you need a
place to stay? It's the least we could do."
"That's very kind of you, I have travelled a long time and guess
I shouldn't refuse the kindness but I would like to do some
sight seeing first."
The woman nodded and insisted that she come back around sunset
and that she should seek out becoming a medic they could greatly
use her power. Shadi nodded, it was a good place to start and
maybe it was fate telling her where she belonged. So back into
the main streets of the Capital city she began to wonder around
seeing whatever it could offer.

Both Chiefs had a long talk in private before the Police Chief
returned to the hovercraft for several moments. When he emerged
once more, he approached the Shadow Clan Chief once more, and
they resumed their inaudible conversations. Finally, they shook
hands, before returning to their prior position to speak with
the people.
"Attention Shadow Clan!" The Police Chief called over the
loudspeaker. We regret to inform you that Capital City doesn't
have the space to take in refugees on this scale! Spirits
appeared low in the crowd, but the Chief continued speaking. "
"However, I spoke to the leaders in the city of Zaofu, and they
agreed to take your people in for as long as you need! It will
take a day to prep the airships to carry all of you, but my
friends at Air Temple Island have agreed to take in your women
and children for the night! I'm sure you strong men can tough it
camping out here for one night?"
The crowd broke into cheers! Not a single person complained
about the men having to camp, and within the hour, the women and
children were transported to Air Temple Island, the men setting
up their tents to rest for the night...

Wan shouldn't have been surprised, but he was. Surely to allow
unknowns to take refuge with the airbenders, who were among the
bendering nations once again, would be a mistake. But, they were
also notoriously peaceful monks, who sought a different way of
life, even during the time of Aang; an avatar who showed that
not paths must lead to death and destruction.
The yoing blacksmith looked at his hands, calloused and rough-
white lines of old scars crisscrossing along the backs and his
fingers; burn marks from his more inexperienced years of
learning his family's craft.
Wan felt some sadness, remembering his family. Knowing that he
may fail in his quest of a master. Still, he refused to become
stagnant, to allow himself to become lazy and set in old ways of
life. There were other ways, different paths for him.
He chuckled to himself, a soft noise that barely made it above a
whisper.
What dreams of grandour for one so young... Perhaps, but am I
not a prodigy?
The blue fire flickered to life against his tanned skin,
snuffing itself a second later as he clenched his fingers into a
fist.
He eyed the lines of women and children, pondering what should
be done. No doubt he would be hardpressed to sneak to the air
temple with the strangers, and if he did after, he risked
potential consequences he wasn't sure he was entirely aware of.
His eyes, dark blue against the night sky, scanned the tents
that the strange men were erecting slowly moving from his
position to walk over to the chiefs after their proclamation of
sanctuary.
'Excuse me, sirs!', Wan bowed at the waist, and when he
straightened made a point of not looking them directly in the
eye. 'May I be of assistance?'

The Chiefs were just finishing up their discussion when they
were approached by a young man who clearly wasn't of the Shadow
Clan. Both men turned to look at him; The Shadow Clan chief in
particular, examining him closely, noticing the burns on his
arms and fingers. He neglected to speak though, assuming the
question was for the Police Chief. He looked to the decorated
man, awaiting his respone curiously.
The Police Chief's inspection seemed less cautious however. He
smiled to the nameless man and turned to shake his hand. "I'm
Chief Talla. And who might you be, sir?" It seemed a bit odd to
randomly approach someone and ask if they needed assistance
without first introducing yourself. But he appreciated young
people with helpful spirits!

Wan felt a flash of irritation, his offer of help dismissed for
the sake of names, for words. What did it matter his name? A
name meant nothing in the wake of one's actions. His name hardly
defined him.
Words... All these people seek are words...
Still, it couldn't be helped.
'Wan, sir!' His voice was cool, measured. 'I am just a
blacksmith, more than that a firebender, and I was hoping to be
of assistance.'
The expert firebender was sure the Chief would deny him, would
send Wan on his way back to the City. Wan wasn't even sure of
what help he could be.
He sighed, a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding.
'In truth, I was just leaving the Capital myself, in search of
master to teach me. I need money in order to do so; more than I
happen to have on my person. My generosity does come at a price,
though I am not entirely unreasonable.' These words he pointed
at the Shadow clan chief, or framing his tone to inclusive of
the man. 'I would be more than willing to repair or replace
equipment such as I can.'
Wan bowed at his waist, once more, as he waited for his answer.
He was never one to mince words, instead cutting through to his
point: words wasted time when work could be done. Still, he
understood the necessity for them. That didn't mean he had to
like it. 'I do apologize if I have overstepped. I allowed my
eagerness to cloud my judgement.'

After doing some running around the city Shadi heard the
announcement. Looking confused Shadi figured she'd go back and
check out the actual situation but cautiously, after all she
didn't want to get mixed up with being part of the shadow clan
and taken somewhere else. Yet at the same time it could put her
further away maybe or prehaps someone would need her help.
Then it sunk it, she wasn't home anymore. Nor had been for a
while now. She had been running and what if someone back home
needed her. She had always felt bound to helping others and
keeping the peace. It was almost as if a greater force
controkled these actions. She had to maintain the balance. With
a heavy heart she approached where the chief and groups of
people had been before. Quietly she watched, examining the
refugees for injury. Shadi found it surprising everything seemed
to be going well, there was compliance. Still she stood by
monitoring the people. Seeing the chief was occupied Shadi kept
her distance anxiously.

He wouldn't let it show on his face, but Chief Kuro felt quite
shocked when Wan described himself as a "Firebender." So it was
true! There were other types of Benders living on the mainland!
Fire, and who knows how many others! He couldn't help but to be
curious, but it would be unwise to ask questions now, lest
questions be asked in return.
"A blacksmith, you say? Well, Wan, I would love to enlist your
services, but unfortunately, my people and I are not from these
lands, and carry none of the local tender. I'm sorry I can't be
of help to you on your journey."
Eyes then shifted to Talla, who was stroking his chin as if
considering something.
"Tell me, Wan. Are you capable of bending Lightning? If so, I'm
sure I have a job for you that will pay handsomely!"
By this time, the women and children were being ushered into the
city on carriages, and taken to Air Temple Island. It seemed
that so far, things were going smoothly.
