When all was said and done, before they continued on her journey
she took a quick picture of Coal for her pokedex. Eevee stayed
in her pokeball, Rosey was sure she needed some good rest. "You
don't look like you're my age." Rosey looked at Zoran as they
walked. He was bigger than her for sure. She had to tilt her
chin up to look into his face. "You know at first I didn't like
Eevee, I didn't like the choice I had made, but I must say,
she's growing on me you know? I wanted a Charmander, but when
you picked him, I felt like I would be copying you isn't that
silly?" She giggled. "But I guess it was for the best because
Lucky is so cute, I hope to get her strong enough to fight in
tournaments!" Her bag shook and she peeked inside. Lucky must
have been getting restless in her pokeball so she stopped and
let her out, also pulling out a treat for her, and one for Coal,
then pulled her cookies out. "Want one Zoran? They are my
favorite chocolate chip." Her mom had already put them in her
tin so she didn't need to put them in her pouch.
Once Eevee and Charmander finished their treats, she started
walking again, backwards so she could watch Coal and Lucky get
to know each other. Eevee ran around him in circles sniffing him
and making little Eevee sounds. She wondered if they actually
understood each other. Then she tripped. Falling over a Pidgey
who was made very angry. Eevee noticed right away and hurried up
aid Rosey. She got up and scrambled back. "Eevee Ta" She
started, but Eevee had already sprung into action, using new
attack. Sand attack. The Pidgey moved back a bit, sand in it's
eyes. Rosey saw opportunity, she threw a pokeball, and it
captured the Pidgey! She watched anxiously as the pokeball shook
a couple of times then stopped moving. She had caught her first
pokemon! She jumped up and down excitedly pumping her fists in
the air and whooped a couple of times. Then she ran over and
picked the pokeball up and held it up to Zoran victoriously.

"Are you sure you want to do this m'dear?"
She remembered the way her mom had worriedly looked down at her
as she shrugged on her jacket. It was then Milly had first
noticed the toll age had taken on her mother. The fair
complexion her mother had once had, was now distorted with faint
creases that had burrowed into her skin after years of wear.
Truth be told, she was fearful, but she feigned a brave nod in
spite of it.
But now, as she stared blankly at the tall wooden barrier
erected before her very eyes, she was suddenly even more afraid
and she was not even sure what entirely of.
Taking a deep, cleansing breath, Milly pushed the door open. At
first, the new environment was too much to take in and she stood
frozen to her spot.
The lab was littered with so many intriguing things, that she
was overcome with excitement and curiosity. Yet, determination
guided her past the distractions and further into Professor
Oak's lab.
"Hello there, Mistelle."
Milly jumped and spun around on her heel with a start. The
professor chuckled, but did his best to stifle it.
"I'm sorry to scare you," he said, pushing his glasses up the
bridge of his nose as his eyes met hers.
"No," she answered, a bit breathless. She swallowed. "You didn't
scare me, I was just..."
Even to her own ears, the lie sounded weak. Fortunately, he
saved her from having to think up an excuse and raised his hand
to stop her from explaining.
"It is a pleasure to see you as always. Would you like to see
the Pokemon choices?"
She nodded and followed him to where the pokeballs were
showcased. Although there was still a decent selection, she was
disappointed to see that the one Pokemon she had wanted was
already taken.
However, that hardly deterred her from coming to a quick
decision.
She picked up a pokeball and tested its weight within her grasp.
It was warm at the touch and heavier than she had assumed.
"Is that your choice?" the professor asked, studying her.
She smiled and nodded as she pressed the crimson ball against
her chest.
"Yes," she replied.
He nodded. "Excellent. Now, would you like to open it? A boy
came in earlier and choice the same kind of pokemon, but his
Charmander was such an unique color."
The professor looked deep in thought for a moment after
recalling the Pokemon. After a short pause, he shook his head
and gestured for her to open the ball. She complied and released
the ball with some difficulty building up the willpower to do
so.
When the ball reached the floor, an orange Charmander appeared.
"What will you name him?" the professor inquired.
"Charming," she replied with an enormous grin as she studied the
pokemon for the first time.
The professor nodded his head approvingly. After he gave her a
few tips, she left along with Charming to begin her journey
that, unbeknownst to her, had a lot more twists than she could
have ever imagined.

Zoran decided against recalling his Charmander. He decided that
it would raise his endurance to walk instead of being carried
around. Coal posed for the camera and then they took off. "I'm
13." Zoran answered. I attended the academy for 3 years so I'm
just getting started on my journey. I think it was a good
decision. Not everyone gets the opportunity."
He chuckled when he heard Rosey's reason for choosing Eevee. He
never thought he may have influenced someone else's choice!
"Eevee is an amazing cover. It gives you options because it can
evolve into several different Pokemon." He watched as she
released Lucky, allowing her to walk, and interact with Coal. He
allowed her to give Coal a treat, but made a note not to spoil
him too much. He took a cookie, and thanked Rosey for it, but
before he could finish it, a clumsy Rosey tripped over a
Pidgey, thrusting her back into battle! Eevee reacted quickly,
rushing into battle Zoran watched carefully, analyzing every
move in his mind, until she threw the Pokeball with perfect
timing! The Pidgey was captured! "Awesome!" Zoran said happily.
Her triumph was an important step on her journey. One he had
yet to overcome. But he didn't let it get to him. It had only
been a short while since he left home after all! On the way to
Viridisn, Zoran and Coal battled three Pidgeys and a Rattata.
They attempted to capture a Sandshrew, but it escaped. By the
time they arrived in town, he had used two more potions. "We
should head to the Pokemon Center." He said. It was important to
keep their Pokemon treated.

Elizabeth chewed the end of her thumbnail, nervous about what
awaited her inside. She knew that she was fairly old to be only
just now getting her first Pokemon, but she didn't mind. All the
other kids had gotten theirs years ago and were building up
their teams, most her age had left Pallet Town and gone off on
their adventures. But Elizabeth had stayed, she'd wanted to
learn from her mother how to bring out a Pokemon's inner beauty
and after spending several years working at the family salon she
finally felt ready. So today was the day. She took a deep
breath, closed her eyes and stepped into Professor Oak's lab.
By the time Elizabeth emerged from the lab, she felt like a
whole new person. Now she was a real trainer. Now she could
begin her journey. Now she had a Pokemon companion. Looking down
at the timid Pikachu at her side, she crouched down and gave a
soft smile.
"Now, what shall we call you?" The Pikachu tilted her head and
lifted her ear, waiting to hear what she would now be known as.
"How about... Bitsy?" The immediate look of disgust on the
electric mouse's face told Elizabeth everything she needed to
know. "Hmm, Fluffy? No, that's a bit... unoriginal. How about...
Tippy?" The Pikachu considered this for a moment and then
nodded. "Good! Now, I have a present for you, Tippy." She
reached into her pocket and pulled out a pink ribbon, carefully
reaching around Tippy's neck and tying it in a bow at the back
of her neck. A pleased crackle of electricity came from Tippy's
cheeks as she examined her new accessory before letting out a
squeak of "Pika-Pi!"
"Oh, I'm so glad you like it." Elizabeth reached down and
scooped the newly named Tippy up into her arms, letting her
clamber up onto her shoulder where she settled and nuzzled
against Elizabeth's blonde hair. Elizabeth smiled to herself.
This was what it felt like to be a trainer... To have a
companion that already felt comfortable with her was more than
what she'd hoped for. She adjusted her bag on her shoulder, took
a breath and set off towards her new future as a Pokemon
trainer.

Milly had always had social anxiety which made it nearly
impossible for her to interact with others without an air of
awkwardness. However, as she traveled along with her Pokemon and
battled other Pokemon, she was finding that the bond between her
and Charming was immediate and not awkward in the least.
During their first spar with a Sandshrew, Charmander was able to
dodge and make an impressive counter just before the other
Pokemon had time to think. Then, their other battle with a
Ratatta ended almost immediately after it started since Charming
had figured out how to scratch. However, their third battle with
a pidgey proved to be most difficult and resulted in
Charmander's need of retirement until she could acquire potions.
She failed to capture any extra Pokemon, but being able to
familiarize herself with the Charmander's ability was rewarding
enough.
The walk was painstakingly short. She was anxious to quickly be
on her way again soon so she was able to spend more time with
her Pokemon. However, she was in need of potions and Charmander
also needed a break.
Just ahead of her, she spotted a boy and girl traveling
together. She tried not to eavesdrop as she gained on them. It
was not long before she figured out that they all appeared to be
heading the same way.
Mistelle was a few steps behind them when she murmured a
greeting, hoping that she appeared polite while attempting to
stifle her usual discomfort that came with meeting new people.
"Hi," she said, projecting her voice so that they could hear
her. In spite of the monotony in her voice, it was apparent by
her expression that she was happy to meet fellow pokemon owners.
Her greeting was directed to the girl, but it was meant for both
of them.
"Are you heading to the Pokemon center?"
The girl tripped, but quickly regained her footing. She tucked a
strand of hair behind her ear, hoping to hide the embarrassment
written within the pink splotches on her cheeks.
