Whatever I want~~~~~~~~

“It’s funny, seeing someone you care about in a new
relationship, isn’t it? Because you are seeing them happy and
they are seeing you and waiting and watching and waiting and now
you have a choice to make: you can stay in that person’s life
any feign support, or you can express you emotions and be
deleted. I guess I have always been the kind of girl to keep
silent.”
Shayla sat on a bench in the middle of Oxford Circus, London
oblivious to the crowds that swarmed around her. She stared at
the same spot on the ground, some sort of liquid had split here
and she imagined it a drink at first, but what if it was
perspiration, or maybe blood? Once in her time on the bench a
man had sat next to her, but upon hearing her murmurings to
herself he had quickly removed himself from the situation.
She was accustomed to the fleeting attention of men; with her
thick ebony hair, mixed skin, striking eyes and prominent
cheekbones she was what people called “exotic”. Like some light
in a cavern of darkness she had gotten plenty of attention in
her twenty-three years of life, although like all lights at
night, only a swarm of bugs had surrounded her. He had been no
different, but with each man in her life, she had given them
some sort of her energy, perhaps her a piece of her soul, and
for that reason it made letting go completely nearly impossible.
With a sigh, she looked up from the ground to see a bus sitting
idly in front of her, the driver had a mildly irritated look as
she had sat here through his past few drive-bys. “I’m only
driving by five more times and then the buses are stopping” He
snapped and she nodded vacantly, physically present but with
glazed eyes that seemed to be in another realm. “ok.” She said,
with no attempt to move.

'London, eh?' His voice was easy to listen to, with a faint
accent; the words almost foreign in his tongue but no less
displeasing. He took a place on the bench next to the woman.
Alistair had stood some yards away, watching the night pass him
by, as he wont to do, and noticed the bus driving by constantly;
stopping at the bench in particular. Not that it bothered him,
but he was a curious person. Especially since the man prior had
merely left without much of word. 'Waiting for someone?'
There was a silver cast to the hair and skin; his eyes
reflecting light much like a cats, glowing with that same
silvery sheen. The dim lighting around them cast him in a rather
odd light, as though he was something other than what he seemed
to be. He pulled a cigarette from a pocket on his light jacket
and rested it between his lips; exhaling with a breath of smoke
despite the fact there was no flame; the smoke was acrid,
brimstone and harsh.
His body relaxed against the bench, inhaling and exhaling softly
as if sleeping; occasional puffs of smoke escaping from his
mouth and nostrils.

“London?” She laughed; a quick, anxiety ridden noise that
escaped her lips. Her bottom lip trembled for half of a second
before she tucked it beneath her teeth and rocked on the bench
for a moment. She made no attempt to look at the man beside her.
She noticed he had an accent, but to her, almost everyone here
had an accent to her as she was plainly American. “Is that where
I am?”
She exhaled and turned her gaze to the setting sky. The bleeding
sun bounced off of buildings, speckling her in final warmth as
it set. Dusk brought out an almost Roman look to the buildings
which stretched and stretched and stretched into the distance
before seeming to converge together when you could look no
further. The people passing had a gilded sheen on the sun
bounced off of their ever moving figures. “Waiting for someone?”
She mimicked, feeling his presence knowing that he had been
feeling her presence, her being.
“Interesting.” She commented without reply to his question. “I
think a poet would compare these people to a stream of salmon
fighting upstream against a current. . .but I think they look
more like. . .a lightning strike. Or the result of a lighting
strike, a Lichtenberg figure on skin; all sporadic and
unpredictable.”
Emerald green eyes turned towards the man finally. She knew in
the golden sun the dying light would reflect the brown freckles
in her iris’ as she met his equally striking gaze. “Waiting for
someone?” She asked again, cocking her head in a cat-like way,
completely ignoring the smoke that drifted past her despite it
assault on her senses.

He cocked an eyebrow, looking at the people around them, before
shrugging, 'If the poet was daft, maybe, but not entirely
incorrect I suppose, though a scar would be better, yes. Ruining
the earth with their meddling, a blight to be cured by some
astronomical phenomenon; assuming, of course, they don't kill
each other in the process.'
He hissed silently, the sharp inhale of breath scorching the
cigarette to ash. He frowned, sighing as he replaced it. 'A bit
rude, but dissociation with reality does tend to warp a persons
brain. But yes, you, we, are in London though it has changed
quite a bit since I was here last.'
Back when he was a child, they'd have written the woman off as
addled; Fae-touched, though she'd be more revered than shunned.
The frown was deep, corners of his eyes creasing in reflection
of days long past. 'But that was a long time ago, so it hardly
matters.'

“Rude? Dissociation?” She laughed, this time elegant, almost
musical. Her eyes looked off into the distance as though
watching the notes that left her lips drift down the street. She
watched as the bus pulled up again, the driver gave her a look,
an expectation, to which she returned him a cheeky smile. The
driver glanced at the man beside Shayla as well, but without a
word he shut the doors and drove away. “Boy, I sure am glad it
wasn’t raining today? Doesn’t it normally rain in London? Since
I’ve been here, only like has shone down. Oh!” She smacked her
hands down on the bench, eyes widening as she turned to the man
beside her. “What if I am the sun? Or some sun whisperer?” Now,
she turned to the crowd and spread her arms side to side as
though she were an airplane, or perhaps, a cross, “HEAR THAT? I
AM YOUR SUN!”
Another shred of giggles left her lips. Now: playful, childish;
completely ignorant of the glances made towards her or the
whispers. Suddenly, her face slackened and she scuffed the
bottom of her shoe against the ground, “Well, he used to think
so. . .” She turned once more to the man; her watching him, him
watching the world, a series over voyeurism over and over again.
“I think I’ve been here for quite some time too. . .Hm. . .” A
pause, a seemingly worldly silence around him although in
reality the crowds continue to shuffle by, a musician played dog
the road with a dog in a pink cowboy hat, a cranky bird fought
for a piece of bread. “Well, I think my stomach has told me that
I have sat here for a solid day, yupp! But now I know I am in
London, so that is not a dissociation, no sir.” Her eyes
narrowed; she held intelligence in her eyes, although her voice
had taken a child-like tone. “Rude? I think you are quite rude
for calling me rude because all I was doing was sitting here
talking and you’re the one that butted in. In fact, I am quite
nice for letting you sit on that bench.” She leaned closer,
mischief crinkled her nose slightly, “In fact, I may feed you to
the bus driver.” She whispered to him before breaking away with
another peal of laughter.

He shrugged, body relaxing against the bench as his arms
stretched to rest along the back of it, 'Many people have come
and gone, claiming to be a sun for their people. Some, perhaps,
claiming all of this land in the name of their sun, but none
stayed. Even I have passed on from this idle life, or so I wish;
anything capable of sending me on my way is already there.'
Alistair wasn't a god by any stretch of the word, though he was
long-lived.
'But, like you I imagine, they've been betrayed by those they
believed cared, though most turned their backs on their people.'
He shrugged again. 'Humanity is a cruel nature.'
He chuckled, a beautiful sound that shook the air with the mirth
of it. The man had forgotten how much fun it was to converse
with those of lesser capabilities, though he knew being alone
for any period of time had cruel effects on people. He himself
suffered a sort of dissociation with society, even with reality
at times; though he blamed that for a different reason other
than the fact he hated people.
So boring and whimsical, the lot of them.
'Feed me to the driver? You are more than welcome to try.' He
chuckled lightly.
