       A Loving Reunion<3
By: Demonreach Date: August 9, 2016, 11:53 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Odin inhaled deeply, a soft smile resting upon his face at the
       fresh air.
Despite Demonreach being his father, he had nothing to stake a
claim to that title. He was decidedly human in stature, though
his appearance was a bit odd.
       Standing around six foot, he was just above average in height;
his baggy clothes hid the lean muscle from years of training and
countless fights; though the gaunt look to his face belayed
this. His posture was poor, slumped over in a general style of
laziness. The air he carried was just as lazy, if somewhat
relaxed; as if he feared nothing or simply, didn't care what
       happened.
The red overshirt was rather large for his athletic frame, the
sleeves covering just past the elbow mostly due to its large
size; the white shorts hung just above his knees, leaving his
       legs bare to the weather. A scraggly beard covered his face;
going well with the wild hair that cared little for any type of
grooming. In fact, a few twigs and leaves hung within the curly
strands. A rather messy afro, indeed.
But, as one would look closer, they'd perhaps realize the lazy
aura he carried was closer to being a wild beast; untamed in its
nature, amplified by the Eon Dragoon that rolled within his
soul. Indeed, closer inspection would reveal the dark cloud that
threaded itself into that wild aura. Dark circles clung beneath
his eyes, showing the sleepless nights. Or, perhaps, the
restless nights as night terrors haunted both surface and deep
thoughts, leading to a very tenuous hold onto sanity.
These days, it didn't take much to set him off. Before he was
rather easy going, caring little for taunts or nuisance's that
plagued him. Even the raccoons he had befriended left him. Not
       that he cared.
       Much like the air that clung to him, his eyes were just as wild;
the usual deep, calm blue right eye was clouded with a darkness
that revealed the Eon Dragoon's influence upon his state of
mind. The yellow lightning left eye remained the same, though it
subtly differentiated due to said influence.
A sword hung along his back, the sheath white; the last three
inches slightly different as it was outlined in a golden flame
that, while seemed raised, was etched into the wooden sheath.
The handle was much the same with the guard resembling sai. The
blade itself curved ever so slightly.
'Ah, it feels nice to leave that Den. So stifling in its
nature.' The voice echoed, underlined with a dark presence, but
       it was gentle in nature.
It had been a few weeks since his father had given Odin this
"responsibility" and, while he hadn't noticed anything, it had
greatly affected him. Perhaps because he failed in conquering
the Eon Spirit, but it was more due to the fact the two had
melded together in equal parts to where Demonreach had separated
the the Eon from himself. But even if Demonreach had melded the
Eon with himself, Demonreach was such a towering personality
       that it would've been worthless.
Odin simply didn't have that mental fortitude of his godlike
father, or even Urdroxa, but, like his father, Urdroxa was
something other than mortal or immortal, human or god. They
       simply were.
The son was a force to be reckoned with, truly, but it was force
as wild as he was; as reckless and uncaring. Odin merely lacked
discipline when it came to his power, which was odd considering
the countless fights he'd been in. The scars on his chest proved
he wasn't afraid of anything, let alone death, as he simply
didn't run from anything. The Dragoon amplified Odin and his
personality, his state of mind. He felt no fear.
How could one fear something, anything, after what Odin had gone
through? After being reduced to a mere fragment of himself?
Those wild eyes stared about, disregarding each object of brief
interest with hardly a second glance.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
A young mother with bright red hair stood in her backyard, her
arms wide open as she looked upon her 18 month old daughter.
"Come Agnar! Come to mommy! You can do it!" There was laughter
in her voice as she tried to encourage her toddler to walk
towards her. A month early she had started to pull herself up
standing on chairs or anything that could support her. Once or
twice Rosie Dante was sure that her daughter was going to take
her first few steps. But each time she had always ended up
       falling on her little butt.
Her motherly instinct felt for sure today would be the big day.
As she continue to try and get her daughter to walk towards her
she couldn't help but feel a bit sad. You shouldn't be doing
this alone, she thought, her father should also be here with
her. Helping you raise this beautiful, little girl that grows to
look like him more every day.
Anytime the thought of Odin popped into her mind she always felt
two emotions: sadness and anger. Sadness because he couldn't see
how wonderful their daughter was become and anger because he
left them behind without saying a word to them. Not even a note.
At first she had just thought that perhaps he had gone on one of
his many adventures. But as days turned into weeks and weeks
into months she slowly started to lose hope. It wasn't till
Agnar had turned one did she finally give up on Odin every
       returning.
Shaking her head slowly to rid herself of thoughts of him she
turned her attention back to Agnar. Who, once more, was on her
       little butt.
"Aww, you almost had it honey! Maybe we can try again later
after lunch." Rosie smiled softly. Walking towards her daughter
she scooped her up. Laughter fell from her daughter as she was
lifted into the air. "Higher mommy! Higher!"

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Despite the reforging of self, his bones could feel the
       closeness of home.
Could already feel the warmth of his wife, of his child.
If she was there, though he knew Rosie would be. It was more a
matter of if she'd let him in. Perhaps he needed something to
help break that ice, but again, her Bloodrose blood wouldn't let
that happen. Odin never considered himself melancholic or prone
to random mood swings, or even a sad person, but the thought of
facing Rosie made him cringe inside.
Perhaps he did have something to fear.
Had he grown so forgetful over the past few years? The restless
spirit that danced within was one passed onto him from father
and mother, but was it not his job as offspring to change that
       about himself? To be more?
How did one compete with a being that just existed? That merely
       was?
He was just slightly above humans himself, though now Odin
supposed, he was far more than human. Something other than god,
       as well, perhaps.
Shaking his head, he pushed those thoughts away, knowing he
wasn't made for that type of conversation. It was tiring enough
to keep it simple minded because everyone he met wanted to drone
on and on. He sighed heavily, and upon inhaling, he moaned
softly to himself as her scent filled his nostrils.
He could just barely hear them, laughing.
The sound stopped him, the yearning; the need for physical
contact, to feel that warm, loving embrace filled him. His head
tilted to the side slightly as he sorted through those emotions,
unused to them; or, perhaps, scared of them. Perhaps safer to
say, the Eon Spirit that had melded with him was unused to such
emotions and was forced to a standstill. Whichever the case may
be, Odin resumed his trek through their "backyard" which, while
consisting of clearing, was as well the forest behind and around
       their small cabin.
Close enough now to see them through the thinning trees, Odin
let his presence slip from his control; let it brush against her
and only her, as if she were what defined his being, though he
       could merely hope.
He stopped just a few feet into the backyard, allowing his
senses and, perhaps to allow her, some time to come to terms
with whatever emotions may bubble forth once she focused on him.

Laughter fell from the both of them when Rosie started to gently
toss her into the air. Seeing how happy Agnar was made her heart
swell with love for the girl. How was she so blessed to have
such a wonderful daughter? And how could anyone walk away from a
       love like this?
Catching her daughter once more, she held her close and covered
her face in kisses. "I love you so much my sunshine!" She said
       in between every kiss.
Agnar giggled but started to struggle with wanting to be let
down from her mother embrace. "Mommy, me down. I play." The
smile on Rosie face grew even wider, causing her cheeks to hurt
even more from doing it so much in one day. "Ok, honey. But only
for a little bit." She said softly as she gently placed her on
the blanket she had outside for them. Quickly Agnar went
crawling towards a stuffed squirrel her Uncle Austin had given
her as a gift on her birthday.
While Rosie started to settle down on the blanket she quickly
froze as something brushed up against her mind. Something that
didn't belong. Her eyes did a quick scan of the yard and found
nothing at first. But because she used to be a monster hunter
she knew not to let her guard down. Slowly, without wanting to
scare her daughter, she started to get back up. Her hand reached
out to grasp the sword that she had placed next to the blanket
earlier. Just as she took a step in front of Agnar to protect
her she spotted something with in the small forest that laid at
       the edge of the property.
She couldn't make out what it was but the closer it got the more
she couldn't believe what she was seeing. "No.. It can't be.."
She gasped softly to herself as the man who had abandon them
       stepped into view.
Rosie felt all the blood drain from her face as he just stood
there, staring at them. Probably waiting for her to say
something to him. But what could she say to him? What do you say
to the man who broke your heart and left you to raise a child on
your own? The more she looked at him the more angry she became.
Who did Odin think he was suddenly showing up like he did? What
       right did he fucking have?
Letting out a low growl she took a more protective stance in
front of Agnar. Blocking her from her father's view.

Given who, and what, he was, Odin had always had trouble with
submitting. His trial had exemplified that need for dominance.
It struck him odd, at first, that his own reaction to be
challenged by his wife would be to return that challenge, though
he pulled no sword. His presence merely... shifted tones of
       various degrees of malevolence.
But it dispersed as he lowered his head, mostly in shame at the
fact he had reacted in such a way, but it was also submitting to
her. He had left, true; did he not have all he needed right
here? Perhaps, but now he had all that and the power to hold
onto it, but at what cost? The scorn of his wife? The odd stare
of not being recognized by his daughter?
Odin knew there would be words between them; angry, bitter words
full of sorrow and regret, words they may not mean but in that
moment of heated arguments. Mostly because he could not put into
words why he left; or what good it did. Because, as mentioned
before, Odin didn't feel the weight of the Eon Dragoon and the
       change it left upon him.
Perhaps that was what she was reacting to, the other soul
lurking within, but she was angry with him and only him. He
could accept that. Perhaps she didn't want him anymore, had
decided to go about it alone. Not that he could fault her, Odin
himself had been raised by his mother until his father had
whisked him away to some distant plane of existence and left him
       there.
The meekness and shame fell away from him as he rubbed the back
of his head, looking away a bit sheepishly, 'Angry, huh?'
He cringed inwardly, the question bold enough to be dumb. He
wished he could be struck by lightning if would do any good at
ending this moment. But the silence had been broken.

Rosie studied her estranged husband as the silence between the
two of them stretched. Looking much the same since the last time
she saw him her heart did a couple of flip flops. Those eyes
that had once looked upon her with love now carried something
       differently.
As if something else beside Odin reside within him.
Narrowing her eyes she scolded herself for admiring the man when
she knew he had left them. Shaking her head slightly to rid
herself of those foolish love thoughts. Rosie Dante was not her
mother. She had witness to many times her mother flinging
herself upon whatever man had left her only to return later. At
those times she thought her mother weak but also understood that
sometimes her mother couldn't help but feel such passion.
She was part love angel after all.
While the thoughts of her mother swirled about in her mind she
almost didn't notice Agnar clutching her pants to lift herself
up. The little girl could not understand what was wrong and who
the strange man was looking at her mother. Glancing up she
tugged on her pants to get her attention. Coming out of her
thoughts Rosie glanced down at her daughter and allowed a small
smile to grace her lips. "It's ok little one. Mommy is going to
get rid of the bad man." She whispered quietly while gently
pushing the child behind her once more.
The shame that filled his face almost made her lower her sword
but the words that left him caused her to yell in frustration.
"Angry? You think.. You think I'm fucking ANGRY?!" She laughed
bitterly while looking at Odin. "Odin you have no idea how the
fuck I'm feeling at the moment" Rosie took a few steps forward,
not even notice the scared look on her daughters face.
"How dare you show your face around here. You.. You have no
right to show up like your doing." The words came out rushed
because of the anger that was building inside her. "If you even
thought for one second that I was just going to fall back into
your arms and pretend nothing happened you shall be very, very
disappointed my husband." Rosie spat the last two words laced
       with venom and hatred.

His head tilted to the side as she spoke to the child, his frown
increasing; sorrow played about within his eyes. Given the
reception, he supposed it was a logical conclusion to come to.
It wasn't as though he expected her to just take him back
warmly, as if nothing had happened.
'Perhaps I should have sent a letter instead? "Hey, it's been
two years, but I'm home now. Turn around." At least this way,
it's all out in the open.' His frown to more of a disappointing
state. 'I did not expect you to welcome me back in a manner
opposite of this, however, if you truly believe me to be the bad
guy that I am, and wish to be rid of me, merely say so.'
But he had every right to do as he was doing, given this was his
family. Did a man not come home after a hard day of doing
whatever to the arms and kisses of those that cared for him?
Admittedly, he had been gone longer than just a day, but the
fact remains that his family was here; his home was here. But
Odin felt a rift, a small one not yet complete enough to harm,
form within his mind at the prospect of leaving. he didn't want
to stay where he was not welcome, and given the hard words, here
was not where he was welcome.
Would he have to go back to the Den, watch his father sit upon a
tombstone as the rest carried on as if their guardian hadn't
made a rather brave sacrifice? Not that it mattered, in the end,
as another had taken the dead man's place. How casually the dead
became a thing of memory; their deeds no longer able to be
recalled in the true form of the act.
'But I suppose that too would be cruel,' he murmured after a few
heartbeats, sighing softly. Odin felt conflicted with his
emotions; he wished for some understanding, but knew that would
be cruel to ask for; he wanted to grieve at what seemed a loss
but he was a prideful man, so he would not beg. 'Perhaps you
should take control of yourself for a moment, Rosie, as Agnar is
rather scared, being ignorant of this situation.'
He met the girls eyes and offered a small, but warm, smile
before returning his gaze to Rosie. 'My mother always said I'd
be a bad influence on any child I had because I was just like my
father... Perhaps it is true, yes?'

"You've could have sent one the day you left." She hissed out at
him, her eyes flickering between red and blue. "You could have
done anything to let me know that you were safe and alive. Do
you know what it's like for almost two years not knowing what
happened to your husband? Staying up every night, weeks upon
weeks with no sleep. Praying that nothing happened to you. But
no. You didn't care. You didn't care enough that you missed your
daughters first birthday. You can't understand the pain that I
felt when her first word was dada. For 18 months Agnar grew up
       only hearing stories of you."
By the time she was done speaking tears were rolling down her
cheeks. Her lips trembling as she looked down at the ground. For
a moment Rosie let herself feel the anguish that was always
pushed to the back of her mind.
But hearing him speak again caused him to turn around and see
that he had spoken true words. Agnar was staring up at her with
fear. She knew her daughter wasn't used to the anger she was
       feeling at the moment.
Taking a few deep breaths she gave her a small, sad smile. "Hey,
it's ok Aggie. Mommy is just a little upset ok?" All Agnar could
do was nod and hold up her arms. Wanting to comfort her crying
mother to see her smile again.
Before Rosie could, however, a soft yet warm voice was spoken
from the back door of the house. "Of course someone like
yourself is a bad influence." Austin stood smirking at Odin, his
arms wrapping themselves around Agnar to pick her up.
"How could a monster ever raise a child?" A smile danced across
Austin face as he stared down at Odin.

He pitifully struck a gallant pose, as if alleviate some of the
tension, 'How could you ever think something could happen to me?
Do I not seed fear into the hears of all I meet? Do I need
discourage the courageous? Dishearten the heartened?'
But it was a rather sad display, a front; perhaps in his own
way, trying to apologize for what he done, for what he may do.
He offered his wife a small smile, swallowing some of the pride
to try and breach that rift this had created; a rift made by
him, widening by her. Was it not enough that he came back? That
he would always come back? Had he not proven that she was where
his heart lay? Where his bones warmed and muscles grew lax? Did
his soul not quiver, not still itself at the same time, at her
voice? Had Odin not proven that Rosie would be his home?
But his thoughts and the melancholic air growing around him
broke at the sound of a man's voice.
Anger replaced everything; the eyes shifting subtly as there was
a sudden lack of Odin's presence, though the air around him grew
wild as his will seeped into the earth. A low rumble shaking the
       earth ever so slightly. The air around them whispered madness;
the chaotic voice of the wind chilling the air around them all.
However, his voice was calm; rather playful, though there was
danger tinged within the syllables. 'Oh, Austin. What a pleasant
surprise. Preying on your sister in my absence? Trying to be the
father I cannot? In some cultures, that makes you more of a
monster than I.' His grin turned nasty, dark; insanity clouded
the blue and yellow eyes. 'Do not test me, or I shall merely
have to show you the monster you mock so easily.' That moment of
insanity, the shadows that danced dangerously in his eyes, was
gone as if it never happened; his gaze turned back to his wife,
staring as if awaiting some explanation.

"Hm, why don't you my dear brother-in-law? Or should I start
saying ex?" He threw a brilliant smile down at his older sister.
His red eyes merry with delight when he turned them back on
Odin. "You would only be proven my point as you killed a poor,
helpless human in front of your daughter." While he seemed
cheerful his words were flat and filled with a bit of hate
towards the other man. Rosie frowned at his choice of words then
shot him a look down towards Agnar. "You shouldn't be speaking
like that in front of Aggie my dear brother."
Austin shrugged as he let his sister's words fall upon deaf
ears. "It's not my fault that you fell in love and married him.
But you know what mother always said, monster's always did dance
       better with demons."
She couldn't help but grimace at his words. The oddity that he
was a human and she a demon had always bothered Austin since
they were younger. Sighing softly, she ran her fingers through
her curls. Glancing quickly between husband and brother. "Can
you take her inside and feed her lunch?" Tearing his eyes off
from Odin Austin shot his sister a smile. "OF course my lovely
       sister."
Placing a quick kiss upon her cheek he turned and walked back
towards the house. Not even gracing Odin with another glance as
       he stepped inside.
At the side of the door being shut Rosie turned back towards the
one man who could set her heart racing. She eyed him once more,
her anger slightly diminished when her brother appeared. "I'm.."
She bit her lip as the apology died before passing through her
       mouth.
Running her hand again through her hair she stab the sword into
the ground. Almost wishing that Odin hadn't turned back up. But
the part that stilled loved him was thrilled that he was back.
Even if it hadn't been on happy terms.
"He moved in to help me." Was all she told him, her words flat
as she looked away from him. "Though I don't know why it's any
of your concern if he's here or not." Rosie continue to not look
at him but instead chose to study the small medical garden she
       planted earlier that year.
