When he heard his name called, he jumped down to the center of
the arena. He had spent the greater portion of Kara's match
resting his eyes, so his Sharingan wasn't active. It was just
his luck that he would have to fight Rikona in the first
round... his discontent was probably evident on his face when
she joined him in the arena, but even so, he bowed
respectfully. "Good luck. " he said in a sportsmanlike manner.
When the proctor officially started the match, Raidon didn't
move. Instead, he looked Rikona square in the eye and spoke
up. "My teammate didn't tell you anything that wasn't true. "
he said, in reference to her comment about Kara lying. "But
even so, I don't intend to lose this match. I'm going to give
it my all. I hope you'll do the same..." with that, he lowered
his eyelids almost completely, and exhaled deeply. When he
opened his eyes, his Sharingan was active once more.
Radkn had taken that time to make a confession to Rikona, but
that wasn't his only objective. In the time it took to speak
those few words, he had memorized key aspects of his opponent's
body, specifically, her height, and the positioning of her
eyes. When his Sharingan active, the first place he looked was
the positioning of her eyes. If she met his gaze for even an
instant, she would be caught in his genjutsu, and more than
likely, the match would be over. The best thing about the
Sharingan was he didn't need to form hand signs to use it!
There was no way to know when the attack was coming! Hopefully
this would work and the match wouldn't drag out. Rai didn't
honestly want to fight Rikona...

Rikona followed a path leading down to the sparring area once
her name had been read off. She was not in any hurry to face
Raidon. In fact, she was dreading the match. After having made a
fool of herself earlier, she would rather never speak to him
again. But, she could not think of any of it now, lest she be
distracted.
Long, slender legs carried her the opposite end of where Raidon
stood. Her eyes met his levelly. She followed in his stead and
bowed to him as well, displaying the same respect he had given
her. When he spoke, she tilted her head to the side, recalling
the conversation. Now hardly seemed the time to discuss any of
it, yet he chose to establish ground on the matter.
She knew she mustn't let his words get to her, so instead so
focused on him, taking in the words along with any visible
weakness.
In response, she merely cocked her head, signalling that she
understood. She did not trust Raidon. For all she knew, he was
simply trying to throw her off. When she saw his eyes droop low,
her muscles tensed instinctively as her gaze fell from his.
With her left leg slightly extended, she positioned herself in a
proper stance. Whether or not they liked their situation, there
would only be one winner and she did not intend to lose.
She made a hand sign and a large crystal would soon follow the
sign. The crystal mirror would be directly in front of him in
hopes to catch him in his own sharingan.

The instant Raidon opened his eyes, he would be in for quite a
surprise! He found himself pinned to a crucifix in the middle of
the arena! The sky above was blood red, and littered with
ominous black clouds that circled threateningly. The stands were
empty, and all was silent, and hundreds of scorpions made their
way toward the cross from every direction. The air was hot and
thick, making it difficult to breath. A smile formed on the
young Uchiha's face as he took in his surroundings. "So this is
what it's like on the other side..." He said, though none on the
outside could possibly know what he saw, or what he was talking
about. To them, he was still standing in the same place,
motionless.
Somehow, Rikona had reversed Raidon's jutsu, capturing him in
his own illusion. However, having no Sharingan of her own, there
was no way she could control what happened within the created
genjutsu world, much less hold him inside it. "Release!" the boy
yelled, quickly dispelling the jutsu to find that a strange,
pink colored mirror stood before him.
"Clever!" He said in an almost excited manner. She had
anticipated a genjutsu attack, and used his reflection to
capture him in it instead! Even he didn't know such a thing was
possible! Definitely something he would have to remember! But
what kind of jutsu produced mirrors? She was an interesting one!
It seemed this wasn't going to be easy. Raidon jumped into the
air, quickly scanning the area for his opponent as he formed his
hand signs
Rat, Tiger, Dox, Ox, Rabbit, Tiger
Fire Release: Phoenix Fire Jutsu
After inhaling deeply, Raidon would literally breathe a barrage
of fireballs down toward his opponent! It may have seemed a bit
aggressive, but he had a feeling she could manage. Each ball was
the size of a basketball, and the heat would spread before they
even reached ground level! Keen eyes watched every movement and
reaction. Raidon wasn't going to play with his opponent. He
promised he would give his all and that was what he intended to
do!

Raidon was quick to break out of the spell he had bound himself
in. When he did, he jumped, signed, and rained down large balls
of fire onto the field. In anticipation for another assault, she
was fast in her retaliation and maneuvered her hands gracefully
into signs. The first two balls fell short of their target, but
the next ones would make their mark if she delayed at all.
Balancing her weight on her right leg, she propelled her hands
forward. A large crystallized shield shot up from the ground,
bend above her head. When the balls hit, hopefully the shield
would be enough to withstand them.
However, the shield began to crack after several rounds of
fireballs, so she signed again. Mist followed, leaving the
visibility tainted. She waited until the last possible second
and dodged out from under the shield to the side. As she did,
the shield's effect kicked in and shot out tiny daggers in the
opposite direction. When they fell, the small daggers fanned
out, covering more area.

Crystal Style...
Raidon had read about it once before, but he never imagined he
would actually be fighting against one of it's users! Even among
kekkei genkai, it was a rare ability. It was tough, and sturdy,
but not indestructible. Raidon maintained his assault, and
eventually broke through the crystal shield. But much to his
surprise, upon it's destruction, the shield erupted into an
array of blades!
Raidon's sharingan immediately began assessing the situation,
predicting the trajectory of each blade as it flew in his
direction. Most would fly harmlessly without threat, but several
would make points on various locations on Raidon's body if he
wasn't careful. He swiftly dodged the first two blades, grabbing
them as they would have flown by. Using the blades he had
captured, he then began parrying the rest that approached.
However, Raidon's Sharingan wasn't fully developed, and as thus,
was far from perfect. Among the several knives that flew his
way, he misjudged the trajectory of several, resulting in a
shallow cut to his left cheek, as well as a more severe one to
his right arm. With those two exceptions though, he accurately
deflected each and every blade, and after the last one was
quelled, he immediately threw the two in his hands toward his
opponent. He would then throw two of his own kunai, before
charging forward
Just after the arrival of the two blades, the two kunai would
fly past Rikona, landing on the ground behind her. Attached were
two paper bombs, which would explode at staggered times of four
and seven seconds, making a retreat a deadly option for Rikona.
Just after the kunai landed, a charging Raidon would appear
before Rikona. Sharingan carefully watching her moves, He would
assault with his bare hands. Raidon's taijutsu was far superior
to his ninjutsu, so with his sharingan, he felt he had an
advantage. his first strike was an open palm strike to his
opponents chest. If he forced her backward, and she was caught
by the paper bomb, it was likely she'd be knocked unconscious.
The explosions weren't life threatening. But they could
certainly pack a punch!

The assault with the crystal daggers was seemingly effective,
even just a bit. Rikona came to a standing position just as she
noticed two of the crystal daggers coming for her. She hurriedly
reached for her blade before an attempt at dodging. The blade
came up, but her reflexes were not fast enough and the daggers
made their mark. One blade left a petty scratch on her right
forearm, but the other embedded itself in her left thigh. The
wound was artificial, but the dagger was jagged, making it
harder for her just to pull it out. Wincing, she put as little
weight on the leg as possible as she watched two kunai sail past
her. Recognizing the bombs attached to them, she turned, facing
Raidon without trying to escape the brunt of his attack. She
returned the blade it its sheath, and braced for the attack by
situating her good leg in front of her.
His fist propelled forth, but before it could connect, her hand
shot out. (Depending which hand he used, it would be her
opposite. Ie, if it were his left, it would be her right). Her
wrist collided with his on the inside. Then, she grabbed his
wrist within the same movement and with her opposite hand, she
would attempt a jibe with her fist to the side of his neck
before grabbed his shirt on his shoulder. If this was
successful, she would hold his wrist as her leg swept around his
and kicked, attempting to sweep his legs out from under him.

Rikona had good instincts and quick reflexes, as Raidon was sure
all of the remaining Genin did. when she deflected the strike
from his right hand with her left, she grabbed his wrist,
holding it in place. In order to free his right arm, he moved
his leading right leg back, placing a few more inches of
distance between the two as his left arm raised to block the
strike from her left hand.
She may have had good reflexes, but unfortunately for her,
Raidon's eyes could process her movements before she could
finish making them. The way every muscle flexed was analyzed in
order to anticipate both Taijutsu, and Ninjutsu. Genjutsu was a
completely different matter, but it didn't appear to be an issue
at the time. Her right leg moved in an attempt to sweep his
leading left leg from under him, but he quickly raised his left
leg, and forced it outward, colliding it with her sweeping leg
as he pivoted around his right leg, forcing her weight onto her
bad leg as he pulled her forward, ultimately moving her out of
the blast radius of the exploding paper bomb.
However, his move did more than simply save her from the
exposion. As she moved forward, attempting to regain her
balance, his right arm would attempt to latch onto the back of
her neck, forcing her to rotate with him so that they switched
positions, and forcing her to look directly into his eyes,
catching her in his genjutsu, should his motion succeed.
----------------------------------------------------------------
This genjutsu would be different from the one he attempted
before. Many used genjutsu for means of interrogation and
torture, but Raidon found those methods cruel, especially for a
friendly sparring match with no one's lives on the line. Even
the Demonic illusion he had attempted earlier was a bit much in
his opinion..
This genjutsu was slightly less powerful than the first. A
shinobi with extremely well focused chakra control could
probably break out of it. Instead of a hellish world, Rikona
would see a white room around her. no arena, no furniture. Only
Raidon standing before her. He held no weapons and had no guards
up. Meanwhile, everyone on the outside would see the two,
absolutely motionless, Raidon holding Rikona's head inches away
from his own.
"It's no wonder you were able to make it to the final exam."
Though Rikona would see and hear Raidon speaking the words, the
crowd would see and hear nothing. The illusionary Raidon would
take a seat on the ground.
"I wanted to apologize." he said calmly. "It wasn't my
intention to be rude. Kara and I have known each other for a
long time. We may have a tendency to be a bit hard on each
other. I'm sure you and your teammate up there have a similar
way of interacting." He looked up in the direction where Akito
had been watching. It wasn't like Raidon to overlook things.
Surely enough he had noticed the first person to speak to Rikona
when she walked away.
"It's unfortunate that you had to be my opponent. I wanted to
avoid making myself any more of an enemy than I already had.
Even so, I can't allow myself to lose this match. I'm sorry to
end it this way, but I'd prefer that neither of us face any
further injuries..."
On the outside of the illusion, Raidon's real body had
repositioned itself, holding a kunai inches away from Rikona's
throat, in case she somehow managed to escape the illusion. When
a shinobi was caught in this position, it usually meant the end
of the fight, because any sudden movement would result in their
death. However, there was always a chance she could find a way
out of this as well...

(Note: Everything in that section is contingent on Rikona
getting caught int he genjutsu)

Things seemed to come to a crawl when they actually sped up. He
countered her strike, blocking it with ease and then forcing her
onto her bad leg. Her expression distorted with a grimace as
pain radiated from the wound. The pain fogged her mind, delaying
a quick reaction. Before she knew it, he was maneuvering her
head back. Her eyes met his and she knew it was checkmate.
-
The white room threw her off momentarily. In ragged breaths, she
looked around her until her gaze landed on Raidon. She mentally
cursed herself for having fallen into his trap. When he spoke,
she tilted her head, acknowledging him.
She scoffed at his remark. "Yes, it is very apparent."
Sarcasm tainted her response. The match would have ended moments
before if he had not saved her from the explosion. If it would
have been her, she would have probably let him fall into its
path instead of locking him into a genjutsu. But then, his,
although not completely developed yet, was powerful. She could
feel it.
A frown appeared when he said he wished to apologize. At the
mention of Akito her expression darkened at the same time a
blush took form along the high curves of her cheekbones. Her
eyes fell short of his gaze as she shrugged, playing off the
emotions his words had stirred.
"I reacted harshly," she answered, in acceptance to his apology.
It was true, Akito and Rikona acted similiarly to them.
She recalled Akito's words about leading Raidon on to deceive
him. The plan was low, much less foolish considering it was
Rikona, but she still was undecided on the matter.
"That's the problem," she replied, meeting his gaze once more.
"Everyone 'needs' to win."
-
A split second after her reply, Rikona managed to work against
the genjutsu and pull out the jagged blade from her flesh. The
pain reeled her back to reality where another blade was against
her throat. A guttural groan emitted from her throat as her knee
pivoted up toward his groin as her hand grabbed ahold of his
wrist that was holding the weapon, twisting it away from her.
If successful, then she would kick out, roll to the left and
clamber back onto her feet. Her hands would sign, making the
ground between them like quick sand. Then, they would move once
more, signing to increasing the mist to nearly no visibility.
She would then distance herself from Raidon and take a moment to
retreive a chakra increasing snack from the pouch on her belt
around her waist. Her neck was hurting. She lifted her hand to
the spot of where the pain resided and then retracted her hand
to see scarlet. There was no other choice but to hurry to finish
the match lest she succumb to the injuries.

Rikona's sarcasm was likely indicative of her disdain for him.
At least, Raidon felt it was so. But at the same time, he could
understand if she felt he had come off as condescending, though
that wasn't his intent. It wasn't that Raidon expected her to
fall into his lap or anything. But it -would- be nice for her to
not hate him... A slight smile showed on his face when she
accepted his apology. Raidon always felt that his face was too
expressive. Perhaps he should invest in a mask...
Her statement was true. In a contest where no one could afford
to lose, how could anyone accept defeat? This exam was set up
all wrong. It should have been an exam that tested each group
and individual against themselves, not in a competition format.
Or perhaps that was simply too soft of a way of thinking
And then suddenly, Rikona broke out the genjutsu! Of course,
Raidon had prepared his contingency for just such an event, but
still, it was unexpected because few were bold enough to stab
themselves, and it was even more difficult to do when you're
trapped in a genjutsu that leaves you unaware of your physical
body. Even so, in her predicament, her only option would be to
surrender.
Wrong again!
When Rikona swung her knee for the obvious target, Raidon sighed
and blocked the attack with his left hand. Girls were such a
pain in the ass! They take groin kicking entirely too lightly!
None of the guys in this exam would do such a thing to each
other, no matter how desperate the situation!
Rikona used the opportunity to put some distance between them.
At almost the same time, the ground beneath Raidon began to
absorb him downward! Of course! Crystal Style was a combination
of Earth and Water Styles!
Reacting quickly, Raidon began weaving hand signs of his own.
Snake, Ram, Monkey Boar, Horse, Tiger
Fire Release: Fireball Jutsu
After inhaling deeply, he breathed a giant fireball toward the
ground beneath him, heavily charring his clothes, and singeing
his own skin as the flame pushed him upward and out of the
danger area. As he did this, Rikona used the Hidden Mist jutsu
once more, thickening the mist to obstruct his sharingan. With
the heavy mist in the air, Raidon wasn't able to see Rikona's,
but his Sharingan could still see her chakra. It had diminished
from use of her crystal style, but it suddenly took a jump! Food
Pills?
This was bad. He didn't know what kind of pills she carried but
he couldn't allow her to gain any more strength. He needed to
think of a way to end this, fast! He could only see the mass of
chakra that surrounded her body, but she probably couldn't see
anything at all! He quickly retreated into the mist, silently
moving to hide his location until he was at her rear. He grabbed
a kunai, and prepared to make his move. He threw the kunai low,
so that it would graze the grass to her left side, creating the
sound of a person running by. Then, once her guard was prepared
for an attack from the left, his blade would come from her
right. He would attempt to grab her into a half nelson with his
left arm, and use his right leg to lock hers in place and the
blade of his sword rested just barely against the skin of her
juggular, this time giving her no wiggle room.
"Forfeit." He told her. "You need to have your injuries
examined as quickly as possible. He tried to sound tough, but in
all honesty, he had cuts bruises and burns that needed to be
looked at as well. He hoped this time, she would give in. If she
died trying to resist, he would be disqualified. But more
importantly than that, he really didn't want to hurt her...
