Re: The Storm in the Silence

It was clear that Venus' brash nature was difficult for Dabria
to adjust to. She was far outside of her comfort zone. The more
Venus hinted at the relationship between Dabria and himself, the
more she receded into that tiny bubble of hers. Ciaran had to
admit, it was amusing to watch. But he decided to give her a
break. "What my sister here means, is that she's happy to meet
you, and she hopes that she'll have the opportunity to get to
know you better, before I kick her out of my house. Isn't that
right, Venus?"

"A pet, right?"
It was impossible for Venus to hold back for forward nature. In
fact, she had never even considered trying. There was no humor
or playfulness in her voice. She asked the question casually, as
if she were asking about the material in Dabria's robe. "Don't
worry." She said. She placed her hand on Dabria's hand and her
eyes widened as the pain seared through her whole arm. She
didn't jump, or scream though. She retreated her hand and
examined it closely for physical damage. It was a testament that
she was far tougher than her appearance, or behavior suggested.
She shook her head and continued what she was saying. "That's
just how he likes to do things. He's never had a girlfriend, so
I don't think he really knows how!" She said with a giggle. "But
if he went so far as to make it so no one can touch you, he
DEFINITELY likes you!" She was trying her hardest to contain her
laughter, when she suddenly burst into flames and disappeared.
She quickly appeared on the arm of Ciaran's chair. "Not this
time, big brother!" I'm getting stronger, you know? You can't
always just get rid of me when I'm telling people things you
should be telling them yourself!" The irritation on Ciaran's
face was evident. And it wasn't clear, but it was possible that
there was a hint of red in his cheeks!
Venus then reappeared on the chair next to Dabria. "Personally I
don't know what you see in him! He's such a bully!" She said
with a laugh. Venus was literally the only person who could pick
at Ciaran and live to tell about it. "Being his sister is
interesting. But I bet being the girl he likes can be a roller
coaster ride too!" Her eyes suddenly widened and Crimson eyes
looked at Dabria. "Speaking of riding, have you-" Suddenly, her
expression settled, and she appeared to be in a trancelike
state. Ciaran's eyes glowed brightly, as he turned to Dabria.
"Dabria, go prepare dinner, please." HE said calmly, excusing
her from the room before his sister could cause any more
trouble.

It was clear that Venus' powers were growing. In term of raw
power, she was already nearly as powerful as Ciaran. But in
terms of technique, he still had an edge. She talked entirely
too much! Even if there was some truth in her words, there was
no need for her to know it!
Once Ciaran had put Miss Mouth to rest, and Dabria had accepted
the task he had given her, she made a request of him. A simple
one, it was, but one she seemed sincerely interested in.
"Anything you want Bri." He spoke without looking at her, or
realizing that he had shortened her name; An act he had never
performed before. Though Venus' behavior had soured his mood in
a way, it also made Dabria more favorable by comparison. She
picked a good time to ask him a favor.
When she stopped in the door, Ciaran turned to face her. But
when the words escaped his lips, he chuckled heartily. The
expression on her face didn't match the question she was asking.
There wasn't a hint of suggestion on her face, only innocent
curiosity. She most likely equated "Riding" with Equestrian
activities. "Yes. I know how to ride." He said with an amused
look on his face. It seemed she was truly unaware of the modern
lingo. Ciaran wondered how much he would really be able to help
her. After a hearty lecture, he sent Venus home, and headed up
to his room to lay down until dinner was ready.
