Re: The Storm in the Silence

Ciaran was waiting for some time downstairs. He wore a black tux
with a white shirt, every inch seeming to be tailored perfectly
to his shape. The only hints of color were the red tie, and
handkerchief folded intricately in his jacket pocket. His red
eyes were nowhere to be found, though, replaced with the brown
ones he donned when he needed to fit in with the "normal"
people. He wore an expression you didn't see on him often; A
smile. Not a grin, or a smirk, but an actual smile!
That smile softened when he saw Dabria. Her white hair
contrasted with the black dress perfectly. It was it's own
accessory! Humans typically associated white hair with the
elderly, but there was something much more profound about the
trait, that even Ciaran could not articulate. The clacking of
her heels as she walked around suggested she was nervous. Making
his way over, Ciaran positioned himself behind her, and adjusted
the necklace for her, his hands sending a wave of relaxation
through the woman's body as he did so. "You look great." He
said, hoping to calm her nerves. "You sure you're ready to go
back to work?" That would be the only opportunity he gave her to
back out. After that, he would be ready to go.

Ciaran didn't care for fancy events with a bunch of rich people
flaunting around. They reminded him of the "family" that
abandoned him as an infant. However, he was a master at playing
the role; Any role, actually. he carried himself with grace and
poise, arm locked in Dabria's, easily filling the shoes of the
boyfriend that had been kept out of the public eye until this
night.
"Thank you" He said in response to her compliment. She had never
given him one before, so it was quite surprising. But even more
surprising, were the words that came next, which made him
chuckle. "I remember the first time you looked into those eyes.
The expression on your face was not a positive one. In fact, it
bordered on fear. Now you care for them?" It was an interesting
change.
The three men approached were a test for Dabria. Of course, with
Ciaran at her side, she didn't have to worry about her powers
accidentally killing them, but it was still an opportunity to
see if she could conduct herself normally without being forced
into physical contact. It seemed that they instinctively knew
not to touch her, but then, that could have been because she was
with a date. Ciaran was a of wearing different faces. He carried
himself with charm of a Hollywood celebrity. He laughed and
joked with the others,
It was Dave's question that really amused Ciaran. Dabria's
answer was dismissive, But Ciaran was a part of the game too. He
leaned in and spoke to the man, in a hushed voice, but still
clearly enough for the others to hear. "Actually, I stopped
chasing her. He said. "That drives them crazy." He whispered,
with his hand to his mouth as if he were trying to hide his
words, though he still allowed his date to hear. He winked to
the man, before linking his arm in Dabria's once more. It would
be a long night. But Ciaran had prepared himself. He would make
it a good night for Dabria.

Ciaran seemed largely unmoved when Dabria brought up the
similarity in her father's eye color. the color of one's eyes
meant nothing, compared to what lie behind them.Venus also had
red eyes, but they portrayed kindness, and caring, whereas
Ciaran's eyes were filled with power. It didn't matter if her
father's eyes were the same color. in Ciaran's eyes, he was
still a fool.
It was later in the evening when the incident happened with the
man when Dabria left the restroom. The confusion she portrayed
was nothing less than adorable. Even Ciaran couldn't help but
smile when she assumed the man must have been a demon. "I'll go
look into it." He said, silently laughing at her naivety. He
approached the man, the smile faded from his face now that
Dabria couldn't see it. The man was already off harrassing
another woman. Ciaran placed a hand on the man's shoulder.
"Excuse me." He said, an irritated man turning in response to
see two burning red eyes staring back at him. The irritation on
his face turned to a dumbfounded look, and he became all but
irresponsive. A brown eyed Ciaran then turned back to his date.
"He meant he wanted to get ahead of the others in the bidding."
he told her. "He wanted you to bend the rules for him.
Dabria was halfway to dragging Ciaran out the door when he
turned and saw it. It was undoubtedly a painting of his eyes! So
she wasn't just flattering him after all! But her flustered
expression suggested that she hadn't intended for him to see it.
The bids were flying quickly! 20 thousand. 50 thousand. 75
thousand. People were really interested in this painting! But
then a voice rang out. "200 Thousand!" Gasps filled the room,
and the other bidders fell silent.
"Sold!"
Human money wasn't hard to come by. Ciaran had had a few
successful businesses of his own sometime, though he always
eventually lost interest and sold them off. With the painting
in tow, the two could finally head home.
Back at the mansion, Ciaran could examine the painting in
detail. "You were telling the truth, weren't you?" He asked.
After several minutes, he decided he didn't want a painting of
his own eyes watching him in his sleep, so he took the painting
and hung it triumphantly in the Hallway. When he returned, he
approached Dabria, lifted her chin, and placed a kiss on her
lips. But unlike the other times, there was no change in her
physical or mental state. It was just... A kiss...

Dabria had taken to submissiveness so well that she didn't know
how to properly respond when she was being rewarded. Or perhaps
she was so afraid of Ciaran that she could never tell when she
would be scolded. Ciaran wasn't sure which it was, but the
primary emotions be felt radiating from her body when he kissed
her were nervousness, and desire. Despite this, she made no
motion to react, and even apologized after the fact!
Ciaran smiled calmly; eyes returned to their natural color, and
placed his hand on top of her head gently. He then turned toward
the bathroom, and went to take a shower, shedding clothes
along the way. He never closed the door when he showered. He
simply didn't find it necessary. He thought about the man from
the event earlier. By now the illusion Ciaran had put him under
had probably caused him to develop a permanent phobia of
women... ah, poetic justice...

If Ciaran noticed Dabria entering the bathroom, he didn't
respond. It wasn't uncommon for her to come in and deal with her
hair or makeup while he showered. The water was hot enough to
steam up the bathroom quickly, giving Ciaran a sense of serenity
as he washed the stench of uppity humans off his flesh.
Her request was an odd one. One she hadn't ever made before.
Ciaran's first instinct was to tell her no. But the evening had
put him in a rather agreeable mood. "I suppose that's fine." He
told her. He suspected that his interference with the curse was
having adverse effects. It was taking more energy to maintain
her pain level than previously. When he first acquired her soul,
he wouldn't have cared if he discovered such a fact. But since
then, she had become a necessary element in his life. He didn't
want to exacerbate the issue, but he didn't want to make her go
without his assistance either. He could use the time off to do
some research.
Assuming that was the reason Dabria had joined him in the
bathroom, he was surprised when she spoke up again, this time,
asking for help. He pulled the curtain back, to see she was
wrapped in a towel, asking for help with the same necklace she
struggled with before they left. With dripping wet hands, moved
to release the necklace. It was at that time that Dabria got
bold.
Ciaran watched as she planted kisses on his hand. It seemed her
desire had taken priority over her fear. Also, her body was in
much better condition than when she arrived. She looked good..l
Even moreso when she turned around. Ciaran took a step back to
allow her to enter the shower, but when she kissed him, me made
no motion to return the affection. He raised his hands, and
pushed her hands away from his face, giving her a stern look. He
then grabbed the woman's face, and kissed her with a greater
intensity than he ever had in the past.
It was true. There were certain lines that should not be
crossed. But the lines didn't lie in levels of physical
intimacy. Ciaran was Dabria's master. Under no circumstances was
she to dictate the terms of their interaction. If they were to
be intimate, it would be because he decided it so.
He lifted her up by both of her legs, pressing her back against
the wall as his tongue explored the caverns of her mouth. It had
been some time since he'd given in to desires of the flesh. If
this was what Dabria wanted, she could most definitely have
it...

Ciaran didn't wake up too much later than Dabria. He made no
effort to seek her out though, sensing her out on the porch, it
was safe to assume that she was painting; An act that had proven
to produce results that pleased Ciaran. He felt refreshed;
Moreso than most mornings. Though the reason for that was
obvious, he wouldn't acknowledge it. They had crossed into
dangerous territory, and he hadn't yet decided how to approach
it.
He made his way to his study, seeking out literature on curses
and seals. But was unable to find anything that directly fit
Dabria's condition. So instead he picked out another book on the
nervous system. After quite some time of reading, he summoned
Dabria, wishing to conduct an experiment. "Stand there." He
would tell her, pointing to the wall upon her arrival. "I need
to see something. "I want you to tell me how you feel, in
comparison to before you came here..."
After that, his eyes began to glow, brightly. Since her arrival,
Ciaran had considtently kept Dabria's pain at 50-60% of what it
had been before her arrival. But if his theory was correct, that
was lowering her tolerance for pain. He adjusted her pain to 80%
of what it had originally been, in order to test that theory.
"How is it by comparison?" He asked, not telling her what level
he had changed it to. If she indeed confirmed that it was worse
than it had been, his suspicions would be confirmed, and he
would have to begin considering alternate solutions.

Dabria's reaction, though somewhat controlled, was also clearly
pained. It was expected, after all, she rarely felt that degree
of pain lately. Even so, It caused Ciaran to hurt in a way of
his own. What a bother. Empathy wasn't something he was known
for. But he couldn't deny sharing in the Angel's pain. When she
confirmed that her pain was at least as bad as her average day
before arriving, Ciaran knew that his theory had been correct.
Her threshold for pain had been reduced due to the continued
reduction of it. That meant that in order to increase her pain
tolerance, her breaks from her suffering would need to be
shorter, and less frequent.
Even knowing that, he couldnt bring himself to start
immediately. "I understand." He said, not bothering to explain
his reasoning. He walked over to the woman, and moved a lock of
hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear, before pressing
his lips against hers, his tongue breaching her lips as her pain
was cut in half once more. The kiss was definitely
distinguishable from the ones he had used to weaken her pain
before. He then picked up his book once more, making the subject
he was studying up on apparent. It seemed everything he read
lately, had something to do with Dabria's betterment.

It had been months since Venus had last seen Ciaran! Usually he
stopped by every couple months to at least check on how her
training had been going! But lately, nothing! Venus had assumed
that he had been busy with a training journey of his own, since
she usually didn't see him for a while when he went on one, but
that was before she saw it! While casually surfing the TMZ,
celebrity gossip site, and seen a slew of pictures of him out
with that wealthy art CEO! It wasn't that she had never seen him
blend into the public before, but it almost looked like he was
on a DATE!" This was too juicy! She had to investigate!
She didn't bother knocking on the door as she approached
Ciaran's house. She was his sister, she didn't have to deal with
such pleasantries! In her mind, at least. She walked through the
house, looking around. Immaculately clean as usual! She wished
she could keep her house that clean! But with a teenage girl and
a training maniac living there it was damn near impossible!
"Ciaran!!!" She sang out as she walked through the house looking
for him. "I know you're heeeeerrreeee!!!"
When she walked by his study, she saw him, sitting down and
reading a book. She didn't even realize anyone else in the room
when she ran up and gave him a hug "Hey you!" She rang out.
"I've missed you! Why haven't you been by to see me?!" She was
now pouting. But then she noticed Dabria off to the side, and
her face lit up! "So you are here!" She said, opting to give
Dabria an uninvited hug as well. "I'm Venus! It's nice to meet
you!" She planned to bug Ciaran half to death about the woman,
but for now, she was pleased to just meet her! She couldn't help
but wonder if the two were dating, but she didn't want to be too
aggressive.

A tired sigh escaped Ciaran's lips when he heard Venus calling
from down the hall. "Why can't she ever knock?" He
unintentionally asked out loud. He loved his sister, or it was
the closest thing to love he had experienced at least. But her
constantly high energy was exhausting. He had to take it in
small doses, which was why their Training would usually make up
the majority of their time together. When she hugged him, he
sighed, and patted her on the back.
"Sorry." He said, somewhat indifferently. "I've been busy I
suppose. How's your training coming along? I hope you haven't
been lazy without me coming to check up on you." He doubted it.
He and Akkarina had some bad history, but he trusted her to keep
Venus in line.
When Venus moved to hug Dabria, in her usual, excited manner,
Ciaran couldn't help but laugh quietly, as Dabria tried
desperately not to touch her skin. "Why do you feel like it's
acceptable to run up and hug strangers?" He asked. She had been
like that since he had met her. Of course, they were adults when
they first met, but even so, it had been decades. The first time
they met, Ciaran almost killed her for hugging him so suddenly!
"So why are you here?" He finally asked. "I know you didn't
just randomly decide to stop by..."

Mischievous red eyes settled on Dabria when Ciaran said he had
been busy. "Mhm, I bet!" She said, sending a wink the woman's
way. Though Venus' eyes were the same color as Ciaran's they
were quite different. While Ciaran's eyes sent a message of
power, and authority, her eyes exuded warmth, and caring. Like
opposite sides of the same coin, those two were.
She rolled her eyes when Ciaran bothered her about hugging
people. "Who doesn't like hugs?" She asked, genuinely seeking an
answer. "Other than you, Mr. Grumpy!" Her eyes settled on Dabria
once more. "You don't mind, do you?" Assuming Dabria didn't
chastise her, she'd stick her tongue out at her brother and find
herself an empty seat. "So Dabria! I hate to intrude, but I saw
some pictures of you and Ciaran at an Art show last night!
Looked an awful lot like a date to me!" Her eyes settled on
Ciaran for that last part. She just couldn't help herself! "Does
that make you the girlfriend? Or has meany over here not used
that word yet?"
