She came out of the bathroom after taking a much needed shower.
The shampoo and body wash gave her a masculine aroma, but as
long as he did not complain, she did not mind. She was just
grateful to get the stench of salt water off of her skin. When
she had finished, she dried off and then entered his bedroom
where she saw Adonis dressed.
"Thank you for saving me. Now, where are my infinite amount of
kisses?"
-
Thalia stood in the kitchen, preparing dinner as Adonis got
ready upstairs. The mood was set with a fire going in the
fireplace, wine served in one wine glass and a cup (she
accidentally broke the other glass moments ago), and candles.
She worked in a pink cocktail dress with a pair of black heels.
She thought over the last few months and smiled. Never before
had she felt such a connection to anyone in her life! She had
always been the outdoors, adventurous type, but she really would
rather stay in bed all day with him than get out that much.
Nothing in the world could compare to what she had experienced
entangled with him between the sheets. There were also things
like the way he could say everything without saying anything at
all. She felt no need to try to fill the silences with words. It
was all crazy and perfect.
At the table, she set up their plates: salad, soup, breadsticks,
and baked shrimp alfredo with cheetos as an extra side for her.
The desert was homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing
on half and the rest had original icing. She stood, waiting for
him to come into the kitchen as she made last alterations to her
hair which was down in simple, large curls.

Funny how much can change in a few months. It seemed like just
yesterday, Adonis was alone, and he liked it that way. Casually
dating here and there, playing pranks on his family. After their
first "date," Adonis and Thalia found themselves spending almost
every night together, and it didn't take long for the move to
become official. From that day, everything was different. Thalia
became a part of his every decision. They could go on adventures
together, or stay at home for days on end and he was always
happy either way. He was sure that this time, he had found "The
one."
On this night, Thalia had told Adonis that she was making him
dinner, and told him to get "cute." Adonis loved an opportunity
to dress up, but her request was too vague for him to know
exactly what kind of look to go for!
Still though, he could smell the Alfredo. Thalia knew it was
favorite. She must have been trying to put him in a good mood to
ask him for something. (As if he wouldn't give her anything in
the world anyway.)
from the smell of it, the food was almost done. He needed to get
dressed quickly or she would be mad at him for letting it get
cold. He decided on a classic white shirt and a blazer. He put
on dark blue jeans and dress shoes to complete the look, and
made his way downstairs.
"I heard there was a pretty lady cooking me dinner!" He said as
he came around the corner. "Where is she?" He smiled and planted
a kiss on Thalia's lips as he arrived. "Nope. Still not to
infinity yet!" it was a running joke of when his debt of kisses
to her would be paid; a feat that he was glad he could never
truly accomplish. He looked to see that the table had already
been prepared. It looked immaculate, except for the single wine
glass. "Babe, did you break another glass?" He asked. It had
originally been a set of 4, but she had broken two of them a
week after her arrival, attempting to do too many things at
once.
He shrugged and walked over to the table. "Everything looks
amazing!" He told her, before turning to look at her once more.
"And I do mean EVERYTHING" He knew she didn't like wearing
heels. But she knew he loved the way she looked in them. It was
always a treat when she put them on. And it always lead to a
"Lucky" night!"
He pulled out a seat for her, before seating himself, waiting
for her before dining in. He practically melted as he feasted on
the Alfredo. The woman knew her way around a kitchen! "Alright."
He said, about halfway through dinner. "I see you're trying to
get on my good side. What is it you want?" His tone was
suspicious, yet playful The best thing about their relationship;
Better than the food, or the adventures, hell possibly better
than the sex; was that they would just be happy and playful
together! Adonis had never met anyone who could tolerate his
playful streak, or stand toe to toe with him in a prank war! The
best advice his father had ever given him was to find someone he
could grow old, and stay young with. If there was anyone who fit
that description, It was definitely Thalia...

The white shirt and blazer looked good on him, but she was
partial to jeans.
"'Pretty?'" she countered. "I heard she is stunning."
Avoiding his gaze, she ducked her head. It was true, she was
rather clumsy and impatient. Both of those characteristics
combined was a recipe for disaster. She shrugged nonchalantly.
"Actually, I think the dog broke it," she replied. Not that they
owned a dog, but she often heard on TV shows that kids liked to
blame the absence of their schoolwork on their pets. Maybe it
would work for her?
She grinned.
The compliment he gave her merely widened the smile. She threw
the words back into his court.
"Yes, everything does indeed." Her eyes swept across him, giving
him a pointed look over. She was a very lucky woman to have a
man like him. And he knew her so well! When they were in the
just about through their meal, he stopped and put her on the
spot. She batted her lashes innocently.
"I don't know what you mean," she insisted. "Can't I cook a
fancy meal for my man?" When she did not convince him - she knew
she would not - she groaned and wiped her mouth off with a
napkin. "Fine! There is something."
She smiled at him, her expression turning much more serious as
the seconds passed. Thalia reached across the table and
retrieved a small, black box that was hidden beneath the pile of
napkins. Then, she stood up and went to him. On a bended knee,
she held onto the box as soft, blue eyes held his.
"Adonis," she began, taking one of his hands with her free one.
"Since the day that we first met, I could not imagine my life
without you in it. I know it's only been few months, but I know
our bond is strong enough to withstand anything. So, Adonis
Blackwood, will you do me the honor of being my Mario Kart
partner?"
She opened up the box, revealing a Yoshi keychain. Thalia hoped
that he would take the joke well. It was not that she did not
think women could not propose to men, rather she preferred the
idea of it being the other way around. However, that did not
stop her from dropping 'subtle' hints occasionally.

"I'll say this." Adonis said with confidence. "Whoever told me
she was 'pretty,' didn't give her her due credit!" He kissed her
once more, another step on the way to infinity, before hearing
her sorry excuse. "Congratulations!" He said with a laugh. "You
just ensured that we will NEVER have a dog!" He hoped she didn't
want one. He knew it would be near impossible to say no to her.
He spoiled her way too much.
Her attempt at convincing him that she didn't want anything was
so horrible it was actually funny! Good thing she was cute
enough to get away with that sort of thing! When she gave in and
admitted there was something though, he showed no signs of
irritation. Only a calm and confident smile.
He wasn't ready for what came next though. The box, the getting
down on one knee. She wasn't doing what he thought she was
doing?! Then came the speech, each word prompting a violent beat
from the God's heart. This was real. She was going to propose!
Before he could! Adonis didn't have anything against a woman
proposing to a man necessarily, but he didn't want her getting
the credit for their forever!
And then she opened the box, and his jaw dropped! She got him!
She got him good! A grin formed on his face. He would get her
back. And he would do it SOON! "Only if I get to be Toad." He
said with a smile. Everyone knew Toad was the best character in
Mario Kart. He took the keychain, and put it around his ring
finger playfully.
"Actually, I have a question for you too." He said, rising from
his seat, and moving her into it, before dropping to one knee,
and pulling a small box from the inside pocket of his blazer. "I
was going to wait a little longer for this, but... Well, when
you're someone's Mario Kart partner, what else is there to wait
for?" the joke was light, but his eyes were focused and
determined.
"Just over six months ago, you came into my life out of
nowhere." He said, gaining his composure as he spoke. "Since
then I've never been without you, and I've never wanted to. And
I never want to in the future either. I've never broken a
promise to you, and I never intend to. So if you'll allow me,
I'd like to make the biggest promise of my life to you, and that
is to spend the rest of eternity working toward kiss number
infinity." He opened the box to reveal a beautiful diamond ring.
He removed the ring from the box, and held it in one hand,
taking hers in the other as he awaited her answer. If she said
yes, he would put it on her finger, and prepare to start the
next phase of their eternity.

She giggled as he took the keychain. Honestly, she did not care
what character he wanted to play as long as he was hers. It was
clear that she had gotten him, but it made her wonder what he
would have said if she had actually proposed. Although it would
have been odd for her to ask him the big question, at least
maybe then they could be engaged finally. The first day she
would have probably said yes if he had asked. Thalia smiled to
herself as she watched him put the chain on his finger. They
switched places. Now sitting, Thalia wiggled her eyebrows at him
in mischief.
"Oh? Is it do I want a puppy, bec-..." she stopped when she
witnessed him drop to his knee. Her eyes widened upon seeing the
box.
Just as he was gaining composure, she lost hers and placed a
hand over her mouth in attempt to cover up the shock as tears
flooded her eyes. At the end of the speech that had succesfully
caused her to cry like a child, she bypassed the ring and hugged
him, nearly tackling him onto the floor in the process.
"Yes! A thousand times over, yes," she said into his ear before
withdrawing to kiss him. She giggled and swiped at her cheeks
after the kiss drew to a close. "On one condition. We get a
puppy."
She winked.

Dammit! Adonis had set himself up for that. Thalia had probably
never even considered getting a dog until he told her she
couldn't have one... "We'll talk about it." He said with a
smile, as he put the ring on her finger. He had no intention of
talking about it though. Chances are, she would forget after too
long. All that mattered now though, was that she said yes! They
were officially engaged!
----------------------------------------
Two months had passed and she still hadn't forgotten... Near
every other day, she had asked him about their puppy. It seemed,
he wouldn't be getting out of this. So one morning, he told
Thalia to get dressed to go out. He didn't tell her where they
were going, but he knew well. He had picked out a small Husky
pup a couple weeks ago. It hadn't been old enough to leave it's
mother yet, but today was the day that they could pick him up!
The breeder lived in a house in a town at the base of the
mountains. When they arrived at the house, his intention
wouldn't be clear. But when he rang the doorbell, and the
elderly woman opened the door, it was clear she knew who Adonis
was. "You're right on time!" She told him.
"Oh, is this your fiancee?" she asked. "You're right! She is
gorgeous!" She said, looking Thalia over before inviting them
into the house. "You're a lucky woman!" She told Thalia. "Your
husband has excellent taste! I know you'll love his choice!" She
took the two back to a room where a litter of puppies could be
heard barking and playing. "When they entered, she walked over
and picked up one with fluffy white fur, and icy blue eyes. He
had grey patches on his front paws. She handed him to Thalia
happily. "Isn't he a sweety?" She asked, as the pup sniffed
Thalia's face curiously.
"His name is Avalanche." Adonis told her. "And he's coming home
with us today."

Thalia squirmed in excitement as they neared a house. Having no
idea where they were at or why they were there, she was
beginning to feel anxious. Maybe there was someone he wanted to
introduce her to. It was a possibility since they would be
getting married soon. If it were just up to her, they would have
already gone to the courthouse and gotten married there, but
with him being the deity of love, she knew it would not be the
proper thing to do. For him, she could wait an extra few months.
She had had no idea until now how stressful it could be planning
for a wedding either, and she understood why people opted to
wait a few years after they had become engaged.
Still, she did not care to drag it out that long. She could walk
down the aisle in a paper sack for all she cared. Adonis had an
eye for detail especially when it came to planning the event.
Apparently, there were different shades of blue and not all of
them mashed well together; who knew? She had already has to
return so many things to the stores. Being an impulse buyer was
not a good thing especially when wedding shopping.
She smiled down at her ring as it reflected light.
At the house, she followed him to the door, again asking him why
they were there. Instead of answering, he rang the doorbell and
an elderly woman answered the door. Thalia beamed at the woman
who complimented her. Instantly, she loved her.
"I am?" Of course she was! She already knew that, but she did
not know why the woman thought she was.
Thalia squealed in delight when she saw the litter of puppies.
She hugged Adonis and placed a peck on his cheek before taking
the puppy into her arms. Turning down the excitement, she held
the puppy and allowed him to sniff her out.
"I love him," she said, looking at Adonis. "Avalanche suits him.
Thank you sweetheart."
She smiled at him before tucking the pup securely in her coat.
It was cold outside and the last thing she wanted was for him to
catch anything. The dog was sure to be spoiled; just like her.

It didn't take Avalanche long at all to become acclimated into
the family. While house training was a bit of a burden at first
(mostly due to Thalia's inability to discipline the pup,) He
eventually caught on, and everything was fine. Having a puppy
around was nice, except that he was quite the attention hog. In
order to command Thalia's undivided attention, Adonis had to
take her out of the house, and leave Avalanche at home; and that
was his plan for this night
After a romantic dinner, and a rousing adventure fooling campers
into believing they had seen the abominable snowman, Adonis and
Thalia found themselves walking past the very location of their
meeting! Adonis looked up at the building, reveling in the
nostalgia of it all. "How long has it been since you left the
poor saps here to be served by that horrible girl?" He asked,
feeling no real pity for the patrons. "Maybe we should go say
hello?"

Having a dog was one of the best ideas she had had so far.
Adonis was more than willing to teach and discipline the canine,
whereas she just wanted to love him. At night, she would wait
for Adonis to fall completely asleep before retrieving the dog
and putting him in bed with her. The pup slept best at her feet
and she slept better knowing he was safely within her reach. She
did not want to leave Avalanche by himself, but she knew he was
more than able to survive a night by himself. Also, she missed
spending time with Adonis out of the house.
The dinner went fantastic, as usual. There was not much better
than being with the god of love bent on trying to reach an
infinite amount of kisses. After the meal, she had a blast with
him, fooling mortals. It was not too long until they found
themselves back at the old pub where she had worked to suppress
bordem. She smiled at the remembrance of it all. Who would have
thought they would be returning to it as an engaged couple?
She took his hand into hers. "Too long. We can if you want,
love."
When they wandered in, it was rather packed given it was the
weekend. She waded through the patrons to the bar area and
ordered a beer for herself and allowed him a chance to order.

Adonis always found it funny that Thalia preferred beer to any
sort of mixed drinks. It fit her character, but it definitely
didn't fit her look. She looked like the kind of woman who would
spend 40 minutes sipping on a margarita, but she was far more
badass than that. Adonis met eyes with the woman who worked
Thalia's old shift. He remembered her from the days just before
Thalia left. She never seemed to smile, and had no idea how to
interact with the patrons. Adonis had predicted she wouldn't
last a month. But there she was! Not only that, but she appeared
to be enjoying herself! She smiled, and even flirted a bit!
Guess she finally figured out how to get tips!
Adonis ordered a Michelob Ultra, and looked up at the new TV.
There was a college basketball game on, and though he didn't
know the teams, it was proving to be quite a good game!
"Thalia!" Adonis heard a man's voice called out. From the corner
of his eye, Adonis caught sight of the very same group of men
from the night he had first entered the pub. He didn't turn to
look at them though, rather continued to watch the game. On the
inside he was laughing at how things had gone. Adonis' first
conversation with Thalia had gone right over their heads, and
they had laughed at him, assuming he was striking out. Now here
she was wearing his ring. It really was the little things that
made a man happy.
"I haven't seen you in ages!" Said the man who had finally
worked up enough liquid courage to approach the former
bartender. "Let me guess. You missed me and you're coming back
to work here again so you can see me more often!" The other men
cheered him on like a bunch of baffoons. Adonis dragged from his
cup with a satisfied look on his face. Poor guys hadn't changed
a bit Still doing the same thing after all this time. His eyes
remained on the tv, but his ears focused on the conversation
taking place to his right. This was going to be good...
