Thalia smirked and shrugged innocently. "Me, of course. If it
was you, I would not be wearing one."
She noticed the way he looked at her and the way he smiled. It
worried her. She did not believe in one night stands, but
neither did she believe in love which was funny enough
considering she was sitting in the presence of the god of love.
Taking a moment to assess him, she found that she was definitely
attracted to him enough for there to be chemistry. It was not
just his body, but his mind. She enjoyed his down to earth
nature that had an adventurous edge to it. It would be enough to
keep her on her toes. Also, she could see herself with him in a
longterm relationship. Unfortunately, she was not looking for a
reason to get attached to a man.
But, she could not make herself leave either.
She snapped back to reality when he started to ride a wave. He
had done better than most first-timers! Laughing at the mishap,
she gave him a thumbs up.
"That was great," she called back, sincerely.
She ensured that her hair was bound up on top of her head before
trying a wave of her own. The wave was rather large and it had
been a while since she had surfed, but she started out doing
very well. Halfway through the wave, something beneath the water
nudged her board and threw off her balance. She tumbled face
first into the water as the wave crashed down over her. Thalia
did not resurface, neither did her board.
Beneath the water, the force of the wave had sent her down to a
cluster of boulders. Her board somehow managed to get wedged
between two of them. She pried at the board, but it did not
       budge.
When her lungs began to ache, she gave up on the board and went
       to undo the ankle brace.

Thalia's statement could definitely be considered true. Adonis
laughed, but offered no words of agreement or disagreement. that
answer was one he woudl keep to himself. Her words of
encouragement were pleasing, despite how obviously bad Adonis'
performance had been. He undid the strap around his ankle, as he
watched Thalia attempt her first wave. She really knew what she
was doing! She looked like the surfers on TV who had spent their
entire lives on the water! Definitely impressive!
But then, as if an outside force had interfered, She fell from
her board, face first into the water! Adonis smiled, thinking
she may have wiped out intentionally in order to make him feel
better. But when several seconds passed without her resurfacing,
his smile turned to a look of worry! She was a Goddess. It
wasn't like she could drown. But still. What was taking her so
long? He got up, abandonning his board and jumped back into the
water. Adonis may not have been a skillful surfer, but he was a
       damn good swimmer!
He shot like a torpedo under the surface of the water, slowed
down only by the turbulence of the water's flow. As he
approached, he could see Thalia struggling to free her board.
That made sense. It was a rental, after all. His adrenaline
calmed down a bit as he continued his approach. But then Thalia
gave up on the board, and struggled to get her foot loose. He
supposed the board was wedged tighter than expected. But
stranger still was what happened next. While attempting to free
herself from the board, Thalia lost consciousness!
This was an event that Adonis couldn't explain. He hurried to
unstrap the Goddess from the board and carried her to the
surface, working her back to shore as quickly as he could, and
laying her on her back. He placed his ear to her chest, and
heard no heartbeat! this couldn't be real! Without taking the
time to question it, he began chest compressions. 1, 2, 3, all
the way to ten, before holding her nose shut and administering
mouth to mouth. It wasn't as romantic a scene as people often
joked about. In fact, there was nothing sexy about it at all!
Compressions once more, another deep breath. "Come on." He
pleaded desperately. "What kind of luck would it be for you to
die on a first date?" Of course, they had never declared their
time together a "date," but it wouldn't be Adonis if he didn't
inject a bit of humor, even to the most desperate of
       situations...

The last thing she remembered was trying to release the band
from around her ankle. In desperation, she had allowed her
heartbeat to speed up, resulting in her lost of consciousness a
lot quicker than anticipated. When she came to again, she felt a
burning sensation in her chest and throat.
Thalia choked on water as it came up. She opened her eyes as she
gasped for air. Admittedly, it took her a moment to recognize
where she was at, but she knew who Adonis was as soon as she saw
him. The halo of light around him gave him an unworldly
       appearance.
Slowly, she sat up and continued to cough until her lungs had
       cleared.
       "D-date? So n-now it's a date?" she stuttered. It took her a
moment to realize that she was shivering rather unattractive
like. She hugged her shoulders. "Could have t-told me sooner.
Wouldn't h-have tried so hard for a-another kiss."
Her throat felt as though she had been in a fire rather than
water. And her chest! Thalia went to stand, but wobbled
horribly. She decided sitting was not so bad since the ground
was not as far away as it would be on her feet. Her lips were
still an abnormal shade of blue, but the edges were starting to
       return to a pale pink.
"Is it weird t-that I'm thirsty?" she asked, as serious as she
       was jesting.
Her body shivered violently once more as she lowered her head
while it pulsated. If this were a date, she had a feeling she
just ruined it. Thalia looked up at Adonis and smiled.
"So, handsome, y-your place, or m-mine?" It was a sly way of
saying 'there's no way I can make it home by myself and I need
       your help'.

Several people had witnessed the rescue, and were watching in
awe, but Adonis could barely even see them. All that mattered
was the woman before him. When Thalia moved to sit up, Adonis
immediately positioned himself beside her, positioning his
shoulder behind her to support her weight. Not at all to his
surprise, she woke up with jokes on her lips. It was a trait he
was growing. to love about her. Her humor never failed to bring
a smile to his face, and this was no exception.
"You can have all the kisses you want once you're feeling
better." He told her with a wink. In all honesty, he wanted to
kiss her then and there, but given the situation, he decided it
would be inappropriate. God being an adult sucked sometimes!
Even so, he kept his body close to hers, offering up as much
       heat as he could.
When she asked if it was weird that he was thirsty, he laughed
for the first time since the incident. "That might be just a bit
strange." He confessed. "Let's go and get you something to
drink." The sounds of an ambulance were approaching. That was
definitely the last thing they needed.
Her question was exactly the one he had hoped for. He wanted to
take her to his home to treat her, but didn't want to force her
there against her will. But now that the suggestion had been put
on the table, he spoke up. "Mine." He told her, as he picked up
up in his arms, and transported them away from the beach,
leaving no one with any memory of the events that had just taken
place. But that didn't stop one young man from falling head over
       heels for the approaching paramedic!
That same moment, they arrived at Adonis' home. It was large for
a bachelor pad. Fancy as well. It was a stone cabin, two floors,
with a log roof and Tinted glass windows. Very "Nature lover,"
or at least, moreso than would be expected of him. He laid
Thalia down on the couch, and covered her in a blanket, before
going over and lighting the stone fireplace. He went and made a
cup of hot chocolate before seating himself on the couch. He
helped her up and leaned her back against his body before
handing her the cup. For several moments, he didn't speak, but
eventually he asked the burning question on his mind. "So what
happened back there?" A Goddess shouldn't have to fear something
like drowning, but Thalia's life had really been in danger. He
       needed to know why.

With grace, he helped her and overlooked her current condition.
Oh, her hair! She fingered the once ponytail to find that it was
now down and in knots. It figured that her luck would run out
just in time to ruin her hair. When he looked up to see the
approaching people, she quickly attempted to smooth it out. The
moment he looked back, she dropped her hands again knowing how
bad it would look if he caught her trying to salvage her hairdo
after living through a near death experience. Perhaps, it really
was not that unbelievable. He must have had seen himself in the
       mirror before.
The wink he gave her was light and playful, but she hoped that
it was the truth. She smirked in response; the kind of playful
smile that vowed not to let him forget his word.
The warmth of his body against hers helped, but was not a
sufficient supply of heat to completely eradicate the icy water
that had seemingly sank into her bones. Two brown orbs met his
gaze as he scooped her up and left the scene. She was glad that
he offered up his place after seeing it. It was amazing!
Compared to her small, one room shack, it was a castle.
And then they kissed happily ever after and rode off into the
       sunset...
She giggled at the thought. There was no way she would ever get
       on another blasted horse.
"Don't p-princes usually have a white steed?" she asked echoing
her thoughts. She looked around with a grin that revealed her
       otherwise hidden dimples.
She wished that he had not set her down. His arms were nice, but
also, she was very achy and the jostling about only worsened
things. She thanked him for everything, including the delicious
       cup of chocolatey goodness.
Thalia considered making a joke about needing to nearly drown
more often if it landed her there with coco and a handsome man,
but she bit it back feeling as though it were too soon. The
silence filled with unspoken words and she sensed there were
more on Adonis' end than hers. It came to no surprise to her
when he asked his question, but she did not know how to respond.
She looked down at the brown liquid between her hands and
sighed. She immediately regretted the action as her throat was
still sore and it caused her to cough.
When the fit had passed, she shook her head. "I was not a wanted
child. My moral mother gave me away to a family. After I got
older, I figured out I wasn't purely human, so I hunted down my
biological father. He wanted nothing to do with me because his
wife is insanely jealous and he did not want her to know. So we
       traded: my silence for immorality."
She paused to reflect back on the moment.
"Except, he tricked me. I got a longer lifespan, but I'm not as
       indestructible immortals are."
Easier way to get rid of his unwanted daughter. Unfortunately
for him, her 'luck' had not run out yet.
She bit her lip knowing that was not exactly the truth, but it
was the best she could do for now.
"You smell good," she said. She smiled up at him and winked.

Thalia's question seemed a random one. He didn't understand her
reference to Princes, or white horses, given he hadn't been a
part of the monologue that had just taken place in her mind.
Nonetheless, he would play along as best he could. "A Prince
would have someone to take care of his steed for him." He said.
"At least, I would if I was a Prince. Could you imagine cleaning
after a horse?" He laughed at his tangent, feeling it was every
bit as random as the question that prompted it.
Adonis was energetic and playful. But even he could appreciate a
moment of silence, if he had someone to share it with. He
enjoyed the quiet, despite it being filled with the burning
question. The question with the unexpected answer. So she wasn't
a full blooded Goddess. That was why she was vulnerable to death
by things such as drowning. He didn't know when it happened, but
some point along her story, he found himself stroking her scalp.
Her hair was wet and matted, but it didn't bother him.
subconsciously, he may have been attempting to comfort her
       through her story.
He laughed when she told him he smelled good, shaking his head
at the thought. "I imagine I smell like salt water." He said
jokingly. She probably smelled the exact same, which would
explain why he couldn't smell anything. "Do you need anything?"
He asked. "Want to get you feeling better. Apparently I owe you
       a few kisses."

"I'd rather clean up after it than ride it," she said. She had
taken care of the animals before, but she did not care for
riding the beasts. It was probably one of the only things that
       terrified her.
She was glad he was quick on his feet. He had not heard her
thoughts, but still he played along and offered his thoughts.
Many men would just give her a look of puzzlement and worry.
       They did not understand her.
The touch of his fingers in her hair made her smile and relax.
She loved her hair touched, it was soothing.
"No," she argued tilting her head back to look at him. "Well,
you do as I suspect I certainly do, but everyone has their own
unique smell. Yours is masculine, but..."
She let her sentence trail, hovering on a word she did not yet
feel comfortable saying. Instead, she bit down on the inside of
       her cheek and grinned.
"I could use a life jacket next time," she joked. "Actually, I
wouldn't mind some of those kisses. But I assure you, there's
more than just a few and it could take some time."
There it was; the first indication of her not wanting a 'fling'.
Although, she was not sure she wanted the other option either.
It was too soon to tell. But, at least they were clearing the
air before something transpired. They had just met, what, hours
before? She worried that bringing it up may chase him off, but
at least she would not have to compromise.

Adonis had never given much thought to his personal scent
before. He was vaguely aware that scent played a role in
attraction, but it had never proven to be a major factor. Even
so, he was glad Thalia approved of his. "But?" As if he would
let her off so easily. He looked at her with an Intrigued smile,
awaiting the end of her statement.
Most people couldn't joke after experiencing a neat death
experience; and they frowned on people who could. But Adonis
believed those were the people who truly knew how to live. He
was glad Thalia was one of those people. When she told him she
could use some kisses, his expression softened. The meaning
behind her words was clear. But he wasn't sure what her long
time intentions were. Even so, he was more than happy to find
out! His hand meet with the side of her face as he met her gaze.
"I have all the time in the world." He said. It wasn't an
exaggeration. He was immortal, after all.
When Adonid kissed Thalia in the casino, it was triumphant and,
well... Hot!! This time, the kiss was soft, and tender. A
gentle peck on the lips, followed by a second, and then a
third. "But the question is, how much time do you have to
       offer? " A fourth.

She seemed a bit uncertain to convey the second description, but
at his prompting, she shrugged nonchalantly.
"Comforting?" she offered, pursing her lips thoughtfully.
It may not appear to be the compliment it was, but after so long
in isolation, comfort was one of the things she ached for.
"Until my luck runs out," she murmured.
She giggled. The laugh was not derived from anything in
       particular, she was simply happy.
"Where's your restroom?" she asked. She needed to get out of the
bathing suit and get some warmer clothing on.

"Comforting" was a good word. He had never heard anyone describe
his scent as comforting. Well, honestly he had never heard
anyone describe his scent at all. But this being the first time,
he enjoyed her choice of words. He wanted her to feel
       comfortable around him.
Adonis wasn't unfamiliar with romance. He had been in a few
relationships. He even really, truly cared about one or two of
them. But he had never been any good at maintaining them. It was
simply hard to find a woman who was compatible with his
personality, especially among Gods, who were far less plentiful
than humans, or other creatures. But because of his experience,
he was able to translate her answer, even if it was only in his
       own way.
"Until I run out of luck."
For the Goddess of Luck, that must be a lot of time. "Good to
know..." he responded, between kisses, which lasted until she
finally broke herself free. Who knows how many it had actually
been. Well, at the very least, he had been true to his word. Her
question broke him out of the trance he had fallen into, as he
shook his head to gain focus. "Um. Up the stairs." He told her.
"My room is all the way down the hall. The bathroom is in
there." It wasn't until she removed herself from the blanket
that Adonis remembered how few clothes they both had on. The
fire had kept him nice and warm. It was a good thing she -had-
been under the blanket! This may have been an entirely new
experience otherwise. "Actually, I'll show you." He said,
deciding that he should put on some clothes.
He took her by the hand, and guided her up to his room, pointing
her in the direction of the bathroom, while he picked out some
sweatpants and a T-Shirt. Now a little less exposed, he waited
patiently for Thalia to come out. It had been nearly 8 hours
since their initial meeting. He had to admit, he was starting to
get tired. It had been an eventful day. But he still had enough
energy to keep her entertained, should she prove to not be in
       the same condition.
