Village Of The Canis
By: The White Wolf Date: December 20, 2015, 10:18 am
---------------------------------------------------------
THE CREATION OF THE KINGDOM OF CANIS
The home of the Canis Clan... A place of nature and animal
alike. A family that worshiped the gentle balance of nature and
it's powerful elements. The kingdom of Canis ruled by ten wolf
deities that rule each element separately. Bestowing their
blessing onto those who have proven themselves to be of loyalty
and worthy of their cause. Giving them power over nature and all
of it's wonderous beasts. Maximus, the champion of these
deities, and most devout worshiper, one such beast blessed with
their power. The man destined to gather the beasts who would
eventually gather those who will rules this humbled kingdom of
earth and nature.
Unlike most homes of a family this was by no means a kingdom or
a hierarchy. This would best be described as a village: guarded
by a massive wall constructed by towering wooden beams. Within
the open gate lay several, hand built, wooden homes that circled
one large alter. Six wooden carvings surrounding four cement
statues in a circle directly in the center of the small fort
like village. These altars depicting wolves with their fur
seeming to be made of each respective elements. Fire, Water,
Ice, Thunder, Earth, and Air. All circled around Sun, Moon,
Time, and Space.
Maximus sat knelt down in the center of the altar as voice broke
the silence of the small village. "Maximus... You have built
this place in our name. Worshiped our power for many years...
Yet... There is another task we ask of you.." Maximus looking up
to look over all the alters as he spoke out in his calm tone.
Nodding to their request. "Anything my lords..." The altars
began to glow an impressive aray of colors. Each symbolizing
their respective color except the wolf of time: remaining dulled
and silent. "You shall become our champion Max... The figment of
our word. You must become strong. Build your family with the
power of our worship... Maybe then we shall grant you the
mortality you desperately crave and join you among our ranks."
Maximus bowing his head as he contemplated their request. Taking
a moment of silence to stew over their words. Only to look back
up to them. "Very well... It shall be done."
Though; the alters only began to grow brighter and brighter as
Maximus remained knelt before them. Slowly beginning to unbutton
the plain white jacket as he knew what was to come. Exposing his
bare chest as the chief deity of Sun and Moon began to pull
their forms from the altar. Yet, they remained silent as they
growled two him. As if they seemed to be angered by him, yet, he
knew this to be a lie. He was going to receive a new blessing.
It may not be a blessing of power, but, a blessing nonetheless.
One of the highest blessing one of the Canis may receive. They
both pounced at the same time as their forms began to combine.
Slamming into Maximus's chest as he was sent flying back into
the alter of time. Letting out a loud, pain, groan as ink began
to etch it's way into his chest: directly in between his pecks.
Symbolizing a sun immerging within a crescent moon as the mark
smoke profusely. This was the first marking he had received from
one of the many deities. Finally being named a deities champion.
((Will be continued as the marriage of Maximus Canis & Akiko
Silverclaw))

Akiko roamed the forest outside the little village Max had
brought her too. She came from a village quite similar to the
one he had built only difference there wasn't a wall, probably
more homes too and a large wooden shrine she worked at until the
village found out about her being wolven. Yet even then she
lived at an old abandoned one outside the town along with her
grandmother and some addicted orphans they raised. Akiko still
was touched by the gesture of why she assumed Max was trying to
create.
The sun was peaking through tree leaves and felt heavenly on her
face. By her side was a woven basket full of multiple colored
flowers with delightful fragrances. Akiko put the basket down on
a fallen tree log and removed the filled green hood from her
head exposing her long tree bark colored hair. Her green eyes
had a hint of yellow in the sun's light. Her skin was tanned
from her constant exposure to the sun. She let out a deep
relaxed huff and a smile.
Behind her letting out a yawn was the three wolves that followed
her. Two were her own, Mika and Tyke brown wolves, and the last
was a white wolf Max had follow her. She turned to them and left
out an amused giggle, "Your all getting out of shape! Yawning
all ready we only been walking for a half hour, silly pups." She
sat on the log and motioned for them to lay down. "We can take a
break I suppose then we can head home. I have to tie up the
these flowers for the wedding..." After speaking that word she
stopped and couldn't help but smile once more. "I can not
believe I am to be married! It is so exciting. I cannot wait!"
The wolves listened to Akiko talk happily of what was to come.
Mika bruhed against he leg and laid back down. Akiko noticed
them beginning to pant and refrained from continuing to rant.
She reached in the basket and pulled out a water canister. After
the wolves were watered she twisted then cap back on. "It sure
is lovely out here, I was also able to find many herbs and roots
to make medicines. Although I do think we should return home
now." Akiko arose from her seat on the tree trunk and patted the
dirt from her dull green and brown dress. Grabbing the basket
full of flowers and other plants she waved the wolves to follow
her back home.

Maximus huffed as the pain began to subside: his breath escaping
in heavy pants. He placed his hand upon the alter of Time he had
been knocked into. The one deity who had refused to show them
self to him... Mostly from his origin as a timeless man... His
form refused to die, so, he was doomed to forever escape time's
blessing; running from mortality. He simply used the alter to
stand to his feet once more. A sigh escaping his lips as he had
been slacking. This was an important day and he could no longer
push it off. He had preparations to make. This wedding would
symbolize the beginning of something more... The start of the
Canis family. A family built of worship for the true powers of
the world: nature. A family he would soon build no matter the
cost to himself...
With that he had made his way over to the cottage he had built
for him and Akiko. Slipping he way inside for just a moment to
grab his rather formal jacket: slipping it over his bare chest.
His previous shirt having been destroyed when he had been given
the blessing of the wolves of Moon and Sun. He reached into his
pocket before leaving the cottage: pulling out a ring. This ring
had been Akiko's... He hunt this ring down for her long ago to
control her, but, he had not told her... He had taken it and
replaced it with a nearly identacle one. One he had created to
have the same effect so he may change the one he hunted for her.
A green emerald doning the forehead of the wolf emblem within
the ring and two sapphires doning the beasts eyes. The jewels
were small, but, they served their purpose. "I hope she likes
it..." Slipping the ring back into his pocket he made his way
out to the alters once more: patiently standing within the
center. There was none to serve as witnesses for this wedding...
Only the deities that would soon lead this family.

For nine months, the woman had been sent away, the blossoming
life inside her would’ve put her family to shame - seeing as she
wasn’t married; a child conceived out of matrimony wasn’t a card
she could deal. The confined room had worsened her situation and
with a month still left, she felt the sharp, agonising pains of
labour. Every bone in her body felt as if it was being crushed
under the weight of the world’s heaviest hammer.
She began to breathe heavily, the only other woman in the house,
a midwife, now standing at the leg of the bed, distress written
all over her face. Even she knew, it was too early for this baby
to be out - what if her child didn’t make it?
Her fingers wrap around the sheet under her, already sweating as
the contractions slowly begin to become unbearable, beads of
sweat trickling down her forehead. She pants, huffing out slowly
and tries not to push yet, feeling her body isn’t ready. When
the midwife shouts at her and commands her to push, however, she
stops forcing herself not to, pushing with all her might, her
screams probably reaching a sleeping neighbourhood by now.
Another hour of torment and the cries of a baby fills the air,
the woman collapsing onto the stained sheets, gasping for air.
She looks to the midwife.
“Let me see her. .”
She can barely get the words out and before the midwife can hand
her the baby, a man rushes in unannounced. Conscious of her
situation, she grabs a piece of cloth and covers her bare body,
furrowing her brows at the intruder. Before she can even process
what was going on, the man takes her child, her attempts to get
out of the bed failing due to how much blood she was in.
“I’m so sorry. . .” the midwife cries, “your father told us to!”
~“Which is the true nightmare,
the horrific dream that you have in your sleep
or the dissatisfied reality that awaits you when you
awake?”~
Her sobs fill the room, ears and head ringing, and before she
knows it, she’s slipping into a light sleep, the room around her
seemingly spinning. When she wakes up, she comes to realise this
retreat was all a part of her father’s grand plan. In order to
avoid shame, they had told the neighbouring tribes their
daughter had been sick, a hex had been put on her and she had
been sent to receive medication. The second part of his plan was
to take his daughter; according to the midwife he had ordered
the men to throw the child in the woods.
~
Rydia was 6; her entire life she had known nothing outside the
world of her wolves, becoming a cub among them. She saw magic
because she looked for it. Abandonment had never crossed her
mind - she had a father. His was grey and snow white, eyes a
neverending pool of black, his teeth so sharp they could kill.
She had seen it. He was the alpha, he guided his pack and
together, they weren’t a force to be reckoned with. There were 6
of them, including Ryd.
Onai - Ryd’s father.
Accailia - with fur as black as coal and eyes as blue as the sky
above.
Chinua - the youngest of them all, yet the most aggressive.
Ho’nehe - the quiet one.
Vilkas - the ruthless hunter.
It was dusk when the young girl’s eyes had been bothered by
drips of rain, burying her head in her father’s fur before
sitting up, unable to ignore it. She huffs out her cheeks,
irritated by the lack of sleep she had gotten these past few
weeks. She and her wolf had separated from the rest, in order to
hunt. Along their endeavour, they had realised they had
separated too far, and couldn’t find their way back to them.
~Midday~
After they had devoured 4 squirrels, they set out into the
woods, not long after, coming to a clearing. She hides behind a
tree with her wolf, 6 times her size. She looks at the huts, and
the people that looked like her, furrowing her brows. Rydia
wanted to investigate more, get closer, but she knew Onai’s
protective nature wouldn’t allow it, so she keeps her distance,
shocked that there are others like her.

Akiko grew closer to the village before her wolves caught an
unfamiliar scent. Akiko stopped noticing they had paused.
"What's wrong?" She turned to face the direction her wolves
faced. One of the wolves, Mika, tried to push Akiko on but Akiko
refused to move now smelling the other wolves and what smelled
like another...lycan maybe? Perhaps it was a werewolf? Either
way it was someone else with wolven blood corsing their veins
but the cent seemed young. Could it be a child!?
Now Akiko was more then curious, she began to move toward the
smells; although Mika tried again to stop her. "Mika if you are
so afraid how about you go fetch Max and have him come too.
Meanwhile Tyke and Max's wolf Arkay will follow me to the
child." With that Tyke shook its head and Arkay gave a sneeze
they themselves didn't want to do it but not going would be a
swift punishment from Max. Mika left out a low growl and ran off
toword the village to find Max. "Now that's settled let's go."
Akiko passed the wolves but the quickly caught up and walked
closely to Akiko.
Akiko was silent and careful with her steps as she grew closer
to the group. She knew they would most likely be alerted by
their scent and most likely feel scared so rushing right in
could get her attacked. Slowly she entered the clearing staying
next to one of the tall trees holding the basket of flowers at
her side. Tyke and Arkay stayed low to the ground eyeing up the
one wolf; the group had been smaller than she originally thought
Tyke moved in front of Akiko to protect her but Akiko nudged
him out of the way so she could show she had no intention on
hurting anyone.
The girl was young and looked like she spent most of her time
being raised by wolves. Perhaps she was only human but lived
among them so long the scent took to her. The child looked just
as interested as she did. "Hello? My name is Akiko." Akiko
looked over at the view, it overlooked her village. "I live down
there in that village among others who are canines. Much like
you and your family here." Akiko assumed them to be her family
anyway. They seemed close to the child. "Can you tell me your
name?"
Meanwhile
Mika made her way into the village finding Max running some
finishing preparations for the wedding. Mika ran up to him and
left out a quick howl trying to get Max's attention. She twisted
about in circles and pointed her self in the direction Akiko
went. She left a whine and egarly awaited Max to either follow
or speak.

Maximus' patience was wearing thin, but, it was only met by a
wolf making it's way back into the village. The wolf had left
with Akiko prior, so, it had made curious to say the least. His
eyebrow arching as the wolf tried so desperately to gain his
attention. A sigh leaving his lips as it pointed in the
direction of the otter gates: finally giving in to the pup's
calls. "Yeah yeah. I hear ya, Mika." As he made his way pass the
wolf he ran his hand over the pup's thick fur as if to ease it's
anxiety. Making his way slowly out of the village walls as he
was far from worried. Akiko was stronger than she led most to
believe and able to protect herself. She may not have been a
warrior, but, her powers definitely played themselves out to be
an amazing shield. "C'mon. Let's go see what's up."
The two finally made his way out of the village and Maximus
followed Mika: slipping his hands into his white coat pockets.
Stopping as he picked up the scent of a small, wolven, girl:
accompanied by a single wolf. His eyes growing curious, but,
they seemed to be rather... Indifferent to the situation. Yet,
unlike Akiko, he did not keep his distance. Wandering over to
her before kneeling down in front of her: his eyes remaining on
the wolf. His frozen blue eyes enough to keep the beast at bay
as a silent dare for it to attack. Finally turning his glance
back to the girl as it softened as much as he could manage.
"Where is your pack, girl?"

Ryd had spent a lifetime in the woods, being brought up as a
little cub to a family of wolves, who were currently missing.
Their scent would soon attract the pact, however, so she wasn’t
worried about that. Because of this, the little girl didn’t
understand the language of the woman who spoke to her, the words
so foreign to her ears, her eyes squint as if it would help her
understand.
She watched one of her wolves take a protective stand in front
of her, finding comfort in the similarities they had as Onai did
the same. He stood tall, growling deeply when the woman
continued walking closer to the two, his black eyes looking over
both of the wolves. She moves to him, big blue eyes pulling at
the fur on his chest, before burying her head in them to
indicate they probably didn’t mean no harm. Though she was
young, she was very smart and intuitive.
As another joins them, she sighs and turns around, now looking
into the eyes of a man, another human.
This surprised her once more, her eyes widening before she
replied, trying to copy the man.
“Where is your pack, girl?”
She paused in between the words, looking at Onai, who had tilted
his head to the side, not familiarised with the words that
slipped from his daughters mouth. She chuckles and looks back at
the kneeled man, her silver hair going crazy with the wind
rushing past them. A hand stretches out, her fingers ignoring
the sphere of personal space, to intrude his face, moving over
his nose, and lips, eyebrows furrowed. Amazing.
Not a minute in and she’s interrupted by a howl of a wolf, one
she knew all too well. Her bright eyes look over at Onai, before
they both turn to the right, watching the rest of her pack
emerge from the forest, through a few bushes huddled together.
Vilkas rushes to Ryd’s side, the others gathering beside Onai,
all of them with a protective glint in their eyes. They would
kill for one another and that went for the young girl-cub too.

Akiko stood and watched as Max got so close to her, she watched
the little girl the way she squinted and copied Max's words. She
didn`t know to speak with words; plus there was the way she
touched Max's face as if she had ever had human interaction.
Akiko crouched down onto the ground where she was. She needed to
show these wolves she was nothing to worry about, but Max...
"Max, I don't believe she has seen anyone like her before; she
doesn't know what we are saying so try to keep your voice's tone
gentle you don't want to offend the wolves.." Akiko spoke in a
calm manor slightly fearing Max was dangerously close to what
these wolves beleved to be thier child. Any parent would feel
threatened with a stranger this close to thier child, more so
when the child begins to respond. Akiko put her hand on the
back of Tyke to force him to sit. Which he didn't seem to like
as he left a low growl but did. Arkay began to move toword Max
slowly but was forced to stop when Akiko swiftly turned her head
to him, "Arkay. Stay. Max knows what he's doing." Arkay left out
a whine but stopped awaiting to be called by Max to come or some
form of order.
"Do you think one of us should show her..? Or do you think the
wolves can talk to her? She is so little..." Akiko said to Max
with a sad tone of voice she didn't want such a young child to
be on her own, what if she was to get sick or hurt! It wasn't to
say the wolves were bad parents but she was human too.
Somethings they just wouldn't be able to protect her from. Akiko
raised many orphans and abandoned children in her short years
with the help of her grandmother, so it was cases like this that
weighed heavily on her. Akiko looked up slowly to Max, she
waited for his thoughts and or actions. More so she hoped things
wouldn't escolate she didn't want to see anyone getting hurt..

Maximus' eyes seemed kind and respectful, but, his entire body
seemed to refuse to back down: despite the protective bodies of
the wolves. Yet, despite standing his ground, he dropped onto
both of his knees. His eyes not leaving the wolves that watched
him so carefully. Allowing her hands to drift over his face to
familiarize herself with his form. Speaking out in Akiko in a
slow, calm, tone. "Don't worry, Akiko.. I've been living with
animals all my life." He said before the small child released
his face. Reaching his right hand, very slowly, out to place it
under her own. Matching his palm against her own as his second
hand reached out to place upon the back of her hand. Gently
fondling her palm between his two hands. He was cold to the
touch, but, he gently motioned her hand down. Placing her palm
against his chest as he spoke softly. "Max."
His voice was bland and slow: attempting to give her time to
understand. Only repeating himself once more. "Max." His hand
releasing her once more before pointing towards Akiko. "Akiko."
His form finally standing from the earth as he made his way
towards the massive wooden wall surrounding the village. "Home."
Smiling to the young girl as he turned away from them looking to
Akiko. Giving her a smirk in return. "Come on, Akiko. Let's go
inside. They have a choice to make." With that he made his way
back into the village gateway that was constantly left open:
allowing any and all to enter as they please. He would give
these wolves and this girl the freedom to follow. To satisfy
their curiosity. Or. To run. Protect themselves. In the end it
was up to them to decide. He would offer them sanctuary to
embrace the elements: without the interruption of the modern
world or hunters.

Akiko got up slowly and watched as Max turned to leave she
picked up her basket and turned to follow him. Their wolves
already backing away to leave slightly letting out growls and
snarls. Akiko stopped to dig in the basket where she pulled out
a canister of water and a orange flower she set them down beside
the tree pointing to it she spoke slowly, "Water." Akiko gave
her a kind smile and turned back to follow Max.
After all he had to know what he was doing right? Maybe she was
just worried about the young girl, worried she felt lonely or of
the cold winters that would surely come. Akiko left out a sigh
as she pushed her self into Max softly probably pushing him over
bit before looking over to him as they walked. "Do you think
they will come? Aren't you worried about the child..?" She
stopped and looked away from him her mind ram through the
thoughts of her past her exile due to her wolven traits. She
thought of when she found shelter with her grandmother who lived
in abandoned shrine taking care of abandoned children. The love
and attachments she made and most didn't make it..
Akiko left out a sigh and shook her head. She should be happy.
She was getting married soon.
