Oceans and Ports

(kinda needed a name for this. I want this to be open for all to
join but it lacked a place.)
"Oh no matey. Blimey! Me a pirate? Nay. I be a privateer." She
took a step back from the officer and smiled. "Don't ya know
piracy is illegal in these parts. A pirate in 'is right mind
would nay show 'is face 'round 'ere!" The officer took a step
toward her.
"I know a pirate when I see one. You are right though. You are
not in your right mind for turning up here. Come quietly now."
She took another step back...right off the edge of the dock. She
pulled a patch of cloth from her shirt and tossed it in the air.
She landed in the little boat that waited in the water below.
"I 'spose ye be right mate. I am a pirate. Captain Patches.
Unfortunately I won't be coming. Or quiet." She looked down at
her first mate. "Lets go Smitey!" The officer began to yell for
other officers and jumped from the dock. Falling just shy of the
boat into the water. Smitey rowed faster. Patches put a booted
foot on the edge of the boat and wiggled her fingers at the
officer. "Alright you lot. Let's head back." several men and
women with arms full of treasure dived into the water and headed
for the ship. She looked up as a child watched eagerly from the
dock. "Smitey, where be Scaggles Jade?" He turned his head and
pointed off in the distance at her ship that she inherited from
her father. In that time she pulled a sack of coins from her
belt and tossed it to the child and pressed a finger to her
lips.
She ducked just in time for a bullet to pass over her hat."Oy!
Ye bastards almost knicked me!" She pulled her sword and waved
it. By the time her boots hit the deck of her ship the officers
had their boat hot on their heels. "ALL hands on deck! To yer
stations!" She pointed her sword at the ship behind them. "Ya
blimey
hornswagglers! Come on you lot. Lets send these land lubbers to
Davey Jones Locker!" Cannons began to fire. Like music to her
ears. Hoist the flag!" She ran to the to steer the ship away.
The black flag flying being raised and flapping in the wind. On
it a jade. The ship chasing them started turning. "Look at 'em
runnin scared mates! Bunch a yella bellied sea dogs! Great job
mateys! The sun began to set. She handed off the wheel and
walked to the deck. Pulled out a map and pointed to a small
island. "We should make port by morning! Feed the crew and give
them brew. Let 'em revel in their victory of today." Smitey
nodded and gave her a little smile then hurried off. She turned
and looked out over the water.

“Pirates?” Deep green eyes stared up at the attendant as Lylah
listened to her words in a state of shock.
“Yes m’lady! They’ve been spotted on several islands in the past
month. Not a single one has fallen in the hands of the law!
That’s why you must be careful until the Royal guard withdraws
the state of emergency.”
Lylah was the daughter of a high ranking noble. She grew up for
19 years under practical diplomatic immunity, and thus, acted
almost out of a state of immortality. She came and went as she
pleased, visiting this island or another, occasionally getting
into mischief. But usually, her only infraction would be being
overly social. Lylah was a friendly girl. She could meet a bum
on the street, and spend all day talking to him as if they were
old friends! Her attendants, knowing this fact, feared for her
safety. She would make a handsome ransom, after all.
“Alright.” The red headed beauty sang. “I’ll keep an eye out.”
But the attendant was unsure if any of this was real to her…
That evening Lylah was out at the Central Plaza, enjoying the
music with friends as she always did. In the back of her mind,
she remembered the warning she had been given, but she couldn’t
miss the town festival! Everyone was out enjoying themselves,
and having a good time! She couldn’t be the only one sitting at
home! Besides, as long as she was around a lot of people, she
was safe, right?

She yawned and stretched, sitting up in her bed. Smitey stood on
the other side of the door. She would have him Keelhauled
(pulled under the ship until death.) if he attempted to walk in.
"Captain the water is heated and ready fer ye." Patches smiled.
It was not a fair thing but Patches always bathed first. She
kept a clean ship and clean crew. The most she was accused of
smelling like was Bourbon.
Soon thereafter she was clean and ready to port. "Bring us round
by the cove. Don't want them bastards setting eyes on Scaggles
Jade unless its 'er backside." Smitey laughed. Patches tossed
her empty Bourbon bottle over the side and had them lower a boat
into the water with her in it. She covered herself in a large
cloth and wicker hat and set out for the dock. "See ye lot in
Talagoran!"
First thing she intended to do was get herself a bottle of
Bourbon. The first stop at every port. But this was not to be.
Patches caught sight of a red haired maiden. Like a moth to
flame she decided to follow this beauty. See where she fell in
the world.

The festival came around twice a month; Every second and fourth
Friday. Lylah hadn't missed one since she was old enough to
wander alone. Of course, she was rarely actually alone. She had
a large circle of friends whom she attended with, and she was
well known throughout town. Newly twenty years old, she was no
newcomer to alcohol either. She and her friends all sat outside
with their cups, listening the the band that had been arranged
for the evening. Being chosen for the festival was the best
thing that could happen for a band. It gained them publicity
they could never create for themselves, and usually resulted in
them getting booked for gigs all over the chain of islands. This
wasn't the best band Lylah had heard play on that stage, but
they weren't the worst either...
Lylah was a daydreamer. While her friends were watching the
band, and arguing over who was the cutest, she was taking in her
surroundings. The lights were gorgeous! and everyone around
seemed to be having so much fun! These were the nights she lived
for; The nights where anything was possible. She often dreamed
of leaving these islands, and having the opportunity to meet
different people from around the world. But her family's status
within the Kingdom made that a virtual impossibility.
Eventually, her drink got to her. "I'll be right back!" She told
her friend, who was only half listening. She needed to go to the
little girls room. In the back of her mind, she figured she
probably should have brought one of her friends with her,
considering the whole "pirate" thing. But then, it was a party!
there were too many people around for it to be dangerous! She
headed back to the tavern where they had gotten their drinks to
use the lavatory, speaking to all kinds of different people
along the way...

The pirate weaved through the crowd undetected. The girl was so
full of life. But she dared not speak to the lass. No drawing
attention to herself. However... Patches slipped down an alley
where clothing was hanging to dry. She chose a white and blue
dress. Good god it was awful. She threw the disguise she had
chosen to wear aside and pulled the dress over her clothes. In
case she needed to make a speedy escape. Then she took her hair
down and shook it out. The dress didn't look like every day high
society wear but more formal for a lower class individual.
Either way she preferred her own clothing.
Satisfied with herself she stepped out back into the festival.
The red haired lass was gone. Where did she go? That was neither
here nor there. She had things to do. However first she wanted
to check her disguise and relieve herself. After a few moments
of sauntering through the crowd she found one open to the
public. Well except pirates. Patches snorted and walked in
anyway. Only to walk in on the red haired lass. Alone!
"Well...ah- Goodday la...milady." She caught herself in the
process of speaking as a pirate.

The lavatories weren't incredibly spacious. They were built to
contain two at a time but there was really only room for one and
a half. Lylah was just finishing up when the door opened and
another woman walked in, nearly colliding with her on the way
to wash her hands. "Oh, i beg your pardon!" She apologized for
the neat collision, despite the fact that she had already been
there."I love your dress!" She said ad she made her way to the
sink.
It wasn't a lie. Given her status, Lylah would never be
permitted to wear such a dress in public. But she often found
that she could appreciate the artistry and design of the "lower
class" attire just as much as what would be found among the
nobles. Lylah loved clothes. She loved the lines, and
different designs of them. It was her hope to be a designer one
day, of both upper and lower class clothing.
Once she was finished, she made her way back out to the tavern.
Now that she had emptied out, it was time for another! She
made her way to the bar. "Another Otis! Made this one a
REEEAAALLY strong one! " She said with a smile. The barkeep
knew Lylah well. She always got the same drink. It was mostly
orange juice, with just a splash of Whiskey. Lylah was truly a
lightweight. But she enjoyed drinking along with everyone else.
Otis made her drink with two splashes of whiskey this time.
She would be more than satisfied...

Patches felt the opportunity to do anything to get to know the
girl slip through her fingers as she slipped through the door.
But admittedly grabbing the girl and forcing her to stay would
have been a terrible idea. She would have screamed. Probably
realise Patches was a pirate and get her whole crew busted.
Nay Patches would be sneaky and smart about it.
After a moment or two she wet her hands and exited the small
room following the woman. We're did she go? Then at the bar she
spotted her. Getting quite drunk. The smile on Patches face was
priceless. She hurried over and took a seat beside her. "I
never did thank you." She said watching her tongue. Could not
give away two much.
She caught site of one of her crew watching her with curiosity.
With only their eyes she and smiley carried on a conversation.
She looked to the girl. He rolled his eyes. She glared and his
widened. She knew the private argument was over. She turned to
The read head. "My name is Pat--tricia. I must say. Anyone who
drinks like you must be really easy to beat at drinking." Yes it
was baiting but it would take more than a swig to get this girl
to sneak away from her guards with her.

Lylah had just gotten her drink, and was prepared to venture
back out to where her friends were, when she was approached by
the woman from the latrine! She came up and said that she wanted
to thank her for the compliment! "Aw!" Lylah exclaimed. She
loved nice people! "It's nothing! You look amazing!" She said
happily. When the woman introduced herself, she beamed! "I'm
Lylah!" She said, seating herself once more. She seriously
couldn't go anywhere without making a new friend, or running
into an old one!
She fell for the bait hook line and sinker! "No way!" She said,
with a slight pout on her face. "I can drink with the best of
them!" She said. It was true. Because the best of them gave her
weak drinks. Even so, her competitive nature kicked in quickly
under the influence of the drink she had already had! "Otis!
Make a drink for Patricia please!" She called out. "Bet I'm a
better drinker than youuuu!" She said. Her excitement and
playfulness was almost childlike. But then, she was only 18!
What more could one expect?
