Annika scrambled through the branches with ease, no longer
needing to look for the next branch since she had often climbed
up here. Once she reached the top, she sat herself down, her
weight barely even disturbing the branch she was sitting on
because she was so light. Swinging her legs back and forth, she
looked out at the city and smiled to herself. It didn't quite
match the beauty of the stars, but as a replacement for them,
the city lights weren't too bad. She smiled and nodded her head
at his question, though kept her gaze forwards. "It's something
I've always loved. There's just something calming about being
above everyone else, hidden away because no one looks up. And
why should they? There's nothing up here but leaves, it doesn't
interest the city folk." she laughed to herself and then looked
across at Kota, silently complimenting his climbing skills with
a smile.
"I like to come up here some times just to think." she nodded
again and looked out at the lights, then up at the sky. "Plus,
sometimes you can see a few of the really bright stars from
here. If it's late enough and most of the people have turned off
their lights and the stores close and turn off their lights, it
gets dark enough that you can see some stars." She looked at the
sky with longing; she had to admit, she missed the stars
immensely. They stopped her from feeling so alone and isolated,
like tiny companions in the sky, watching over her. As he stood
and pointed to the hill, Annika blinked and followed his
pointing finger, seeing the hill in the distance. "Alright,
first one there wins. And the rules are..." she paused for a
moment and then suddenly darted from the branch, using the
swaying momentum from her feet which she had been building to
this moment to propel her forwards.
As she leapt, she leant forwards and with a light thud, landed
in a crouch and started to run. Though while she ran, her body
began to shift and with various levels of clicks and cracks, her
bones adjusted and fur grew across her body. By the time she
reached the fence, she no longer resembled even the close image
of what she had a moment ago, but rather a large canine. Her
legs were long and slender, clearly built for speed, while her
body was thin and light to keep her agile. Her fur was a mix of
caramel and brown, fluffy around her neck and tail which was
fairly long. Though she wouldn't have given much time for anyone
to take a close look, as by the time anyone could have even
glanced in her direction, she was out of sight and within
seconds she was almost a quarter of the way there.

Kota hardly had time to react as the branch shook slightly and
he had to wave his arms to keep balanced. He hardly had problems
with this sort of thing, but he hadn't ever thought she would
start the race in such a cheaty manner. "Cheater.. he called"
laughing but, he knew he had to take off in some way, her
downfall being that she had claimed NO rules. So with a snap of
his finger, the Earth around her shot up in mix matched pillars
trying to prevent her from going further without a bit of a
climb, and allowing him to at least catch up if not take the
lead. So then with a graceful skip in is step he bounced of the
tree, and hit an invisible platform in the sky. Flicking off of
that he easily made his way near ground level enough to hop the
fence with ease, but he would not take the same approach.
Quickly he drug out his dagger and at the nearest building as
she still dealt with the building earth mounds, he took a quick
run up the wall get a few stories up before stabbing the Dagger
into the stone.
He glanced to her to see that She was now getting past it and he
knew he had to kick it up. In all it reminded him of home, onl
the difference was he was not being tracked, or chased over the
large sand like buildings. Still Kota dashed over the buildings
bounding at an unreal rate to land quickly in a crawling form
and take off again full sprint. She seemed to be only a few feet
behind him now, only ground level as he looked over to her. " ya
know it could have been much easier if ya didn't cheat dear
ahaha" He then stuck his tongue out at her and within instants
his speed took an absolute pick up and he bounded from the final
building in succession. he landed on a street light and looked
down at her as a new sound took his attention..
In the distance, but not too far the familiar sound of sirens
went off, It was likely his fault due to the quakes and ya know
giant rock pillars that took up the street, but they were fast
on their trail and that made this all the more exciting. "Well
guess things just got a bunch more exciting aye?" He asked, but
noticed she was already darting ahead of him again.. ' damnit..
she really wants to win.." he said sighing slightly and then
stepped off the lamp post just as the cops came into view around
the corner. " Guess its time to Phantom step." He stated and
then kicked off the air now dashing as if he were almost skating
through the air at a speed that was truly unreal. the Lights in
the cop cars, in the lights and all the glass int he building
shattered as he zipped through the air like a shooting star,a nd
quickly made his way past her... not even touching the ground at
this point. He was going much slower than he normally would,
this was enjoyable and with any luck the cops would be a bit
more persistent and he could enjoy this, not that she wasn't
persistent enough already.. Kota laughed to himself as he slowed
his pace and then started jogging through the sky rather, as he
waved down at her a few yards back. " Hiiii Annika!" he called

Annika clenched her teeth as she ran, a habit that stopped her
from biting her tongue. Her now round, dark eyes glinted in the
light of the streetlights as she passed them in quick
succession, seeing them more as flickers rather than lights. Her
ears twitched as she sensed something happening and almost let
out a yelp as the ground moved before her. With sharp instincts
and quick thinking though, this was no problem. What a cheater
he was! Then again, she had cheated her way to a head start...
Nevertheless! With a crouch, a spring of her paws and a twist of
her body, Annika soon darted through the air, her paws briefly
landing against the first of her obstacles before she leapt to
the next, moving too quickly for gravity to grip her enough to
pull her down.
The sirens did put her off though. As she heard the first of
them, her concentration slipped, and she misjudged her leap,
having to scramble to get a grip so she wouldn't fall. The force
of hitting the strange earth pillar knocked the breath from her
lungs though and it lost her a few seconds though gained her a
bruised stomach and leg. But what was a race without a few
battle wounds? After glancing to see where Kota was and seeing
him in the lead, she snarled at her own time wasting and quickly
jumped her way through the obstacles to the road again. Her
bruised leg didn't slow her down, though she was a little more
cautious of more tricks from Kota. Her next obstacle didn't come
from him though, but the cops. They must have circled around
from a different direction, as they pulled into the street ahead
of her.
This didn't slow her, nor did the shouts of the men as they
scrambled from their cars and tried to aim their guns. She was
too quick for them, they could get a good enough aim. She wasn't
offended by their shooting at her, if she hadn't regained her
memories and saw a canine almost twice the size of a regular
wolf running towards her, she'd shoot too! With a simple leap,
she jumped straight over the cop cars and policemen, continuing
her race with Kota as if the cops weren't there. Seeing him just
ahead of her shouting down to her, she laughed and grinned a
toothy grin before calling up to him in a voice that was still
as sweet as before though her breath was heavier due to the
running of course. "Don't get... too confident!" she leapt to
the side as a bullet narrowly missed her to the left, having
forgotten the cops would have simply turned to keep trying to
shoot. "You still... might lose!" With that, she kicked off with
her hind legs, her running doubling in speed as each step of her
legs propelled her forwards further. Her fur flattened to her
body and her ears sank against her lowered head, making her more
streamlined so she could run faster, determined to win.

As he heard the tired yelp of the wolf behind him; he had to
admit to feeling a bit bad for his little trick. He had only
meant it to slow her down, not to actually harm her, but in all
it couldn't be helped. He was still lingering int he sky as the
gun shots fired and his attention darted back to the scene. He
should have expected the dangers of hostility, of their futile
guns, but he hadn't, he would correct that issue. "Id rather not
have you shot..." he called back to her as she caught up with
him, and his aura rose a bit as the pebbles and debris of the
earth began to rise.. Slowly and dramatically he opened his hand
to separate a Large crack through the earth to separate the
ground they had chosen and where all of the cops were clustered,
the crack went on for miles which would easily distract them
long enough for the race to end with no more issues.
Then it was back to the situation at hand. Kota turned to notice
she had wasted no time taking the lead again from him. " Well
damnit your relentless." he said laughing and took off again.
Bright blue and violet streams of light glides behind him int he
wake of where he had just been phantom stepping through the air.
Soon enough he lowered his place int he air enough that he was
within ear shot of her. The building obstacle maze was coming up
fast, very fast. "Having fun yet hon?" He asked a huge smile on
his face, just as he absentmindedly winked to her and
disappeared into one of the alley ways. This was the final trial
before the hill would be reached now, but it was by far, the
most taxing. none of the streets worked just straight forward,
and the only advantage he had on her knowing the entire city,
was his acrobatic potential, though hers was nothing not to talk
about either.
The end of the alley way was a Large building blocking his way,
and before he reached that point he flicked a swipe so that a
large ladder was knocked free. Kota very quickly scrambled up
the ladder as if he were an animal. It was natural after all the
blood that ran in his veins was partially wolf, however he had
never known anything of that sort. The moon returned to view,
however he had no idea where she was.. So he took off again,
bounding over the gaps in between the buildings. They were
nothing compared to what he was used to, and even when it took a
bit more than a leap he quickly dug his dagger into the side and
scrambled to the top to return to his sprint. Finally as the
buildings cleared he caught sight of her again, only she was
just now reaching the large field of grass that lead up to the
field.. " Shit.." he stated once and then with one more leap he
bound through the air at an unreal speed and bent his legs as a
invisible platform formed just behind his feet, He sprung off of
it and this time.. a Large clap was heard as if a missile were
being shot off, before a Large sharp noise, much like a dog
whistle, behind his speed. Kota was going to hit and roll into
the Hill at any second, and at any luck he would have just beat
her by a hair.

Annika laughed at his comment on being shot, knowing that no
matter how good their aim, they wouldn't hit her. After being
around when the first guns were issued to law enforcement, she
learnt her lesson the first time she had been shot due to her
lack of knowledge on the strange new inventions. Ever since
then, she had dodged every bullet sent her way. Though she still
appreciated his concern and his trick with the crack in the
ground. While he was occupied with that, she made haste to take
the lead, chuckling as he caught up and called to her. "I was...
having fun... ages ago!" She laughed and skidded to a halt,
darting down an alleyway to the left. The clatter of her claws
against the cobblestones echoed through the dark, giving her a
clear sense of which way to turn as the echoes bounced back off
the walls. Using her hearing almost like a bat in pitch black,
she made her way through the twists and turns of the alleys
though soon found herself at a dead end. After a quick check of
the scents in the air, she knew exactly where she was and
scrambled over the wall to the right.
Landing in someone's small yard, she darted to the fire escape
and leapt up, wasting no time in getting to the roof. She knew
the exact route she would take, and although it wasn't the
safest or the easiest, it was certainly the fastest. On her way
up the ladders, she shifted back to her human shape, finding it
easier to climb rather than with paws. Once she reached the roof
however, she was soon a wolf again, leaping to the roof of the
next building. She glanced around to see if she could see Kota,
spotting him taking a similar route to her own. She could
already tell that she was a short distance ahead of him, so she
took a few seconds to catch her breath before running again.
Gradually, the buildings she jumped to got lower and lower,
until she reached the edge of the city and there was only a
short drop to the ground. Using the motion of her leap to the
floor, she put as much speed into her running as she possibly
could, no longer concerned with where he was, only focused on
reaching the hill as quickly as possible. Her ears twitched as
she heard the piercing whistle, her fur standing on end as the
sound rattled her.
Then that was it, she was almost there... just a few more
seconds and she'd win! But she could sense him drawing closer
and fast too, she could still lose. Determined not to let that
happen, she leapt forwards in the hope to give herself that
little bit of boost she needed, but her lack of focus on where
Kota was sent her straight at him as he came along side her.
Crashing into him, she yelped as they crashed into the hill and
rolled, quickly shifting back to her human shape with a loud
crunch of her bones changing their shape so she wouldn't scratch
him with her claws by accident. As she rolled and gradually came
to a stop, she landed on her back and stared up at the stars,
wide eyed in surprise at the sudden crash landing. Glancing over
at Kota, she blinked and then started to laugh, sitting up and
brushing grass from her hands. "Well... that was fun!"

The sudden burst of speed put him in free-fall shot towards the
large hill. He was sure he had won it now, He could almost grasp
the grass, and then.. A Large impact hit him like a freight
train and if only out of pure instinctual reaction he turned to
catch the Wolf woman, only just as she transformed into her
human form. The sacrifice of his actions made his back hit hard,
hard enough that he let go of her so she too bounced away and
landed in her own way. He cringed as he tried to lift his
battered shoulder and he looked over to her as she made her way
into a sitting position, and laughing. He was a tad perplexed as
he shook his head confused, but before long he found himself
laughing as well. They both had to be absolutely fucking insane,
to be laughing it up after such a ridiculous fall, and still
there was no winner. " Aha, theres no winner you realize.." He
stated rolling his way through the grass of the hill until he
bumped butts with her. He looked over at her and laughed again;
all the while shaking his head, as the White nest of hair fell
over his eyes, and he let out a short fast gust of breath to
hold it int he air for a moment before it fell back over his
face. I think my hair might be my biggest weakness if not you.."
He stated jokingly and poked at his ribs which were slightly
bruised.
He was in a surprisingly great mood now, even with all of what
had happened and what not. " I wonder what those cops are
doing.." He said laughing at the thought of some of them still
trying to fish their cars out of the fissure int he earth. " I
bet their eyes nearly popped clean out their heads when I did
that huh?" He asked almost absentmindedly as he lay there.
However the next few seconds lay in silence, as the moon met
them above and he was placed in a trance with its beauty. It was
a brilliant bright Blue moon, not really full but just a tad bit
bigger than a half moon, bright baby blue. "Ill be damned, a
Blue moon." Kota stated and smiled, genuinely happy as his eyes
did not leave its grace. "What is on your mind right now?" he
asked out of nowhere finding that his hand lingered next to hers
at the side of his body. "I mean Im not looking to pry, I just
kind of wondered I guess." He felt a tad embarrassed for being
so brash with such a question, but it was in the open now; and
she had yet to answer.

Annika'a laughter settled to a giggle as she watched him roll
towards her, shrugging her shoulders at his comment. "I win by
default. I always win." She looked over her legs and arms for a
moment to check for more bruises, finding only a few scratches
on her arms from rolling over sticks on the grass and a growing
bruise on the side of her thigh. All in all, not too bad for a
simple race across the city. Laying back again, she rested her
hands on her bruised stomach and giggled at his attempt to
remove the hair from his face. "It does seem to have something
against you." She reached over to help by brushing his hair
aside out of his eyes, then let her arm drop to her side between
him and herself. "Better? Mine does the same sometimes if I let
it grow too long. But then after it gets to a certain length, it
just falls to the side further." She shrugged and turned her
gaze to the sky. There were a few more stars visible now they
were outside of the city and she smiled as she looked up towards
them. She laughed and nodded in agreement when he spoke about
the cops, trying to picture their faces as they thought about
what they had seen. "I bet they're all wondering if they all saw
it or if they hallucinated. In fact, I bet some of them fainted
or something."
Still giggling to herself, she stared up at the stars, wondering
how many she would be able to see if the entire city turned off
it's lights. Her gaze turned to the moon, it's light reflecting
off her pale skin and giving her a faint blue glow. "I love the
moon... It's my favourite thing in the world." She sighed
lightly in content, trying to count the stars. Hearing his
question, she was a little taken aback, though when he spoke
again, she smiled and shrugged. "I was just thinking how
beautiful the sky looks at night... Day time seems a little
boring when it's just blue with a few grey clouds, compared the
the night sky. I mean, just look there," she lifted her hand to
point up towards one of the brighter stars, "right there, there
are thousands of planets and some of them might have life. There
could be two people laying on a field looking up at the same
stars, pointing towards our star and saying 'there could be two
people there...'" she giggled a little and let her hand fall
again, feeling it brush against his hand lightly. "What about
you? What's on your mind?"

The smile never left his lips as he lay there with her. Honestly
he had no clue of knowing exactly what it was about her, She
just connected with him. On top of that odd connection was
absolutely stunningly beautiful; in her own aspect even. Some
women stood as beautiful, but only up to the standards of
society this woman was truly beautiful, and fun, and kind even.
" I think that the Day is a curtain, we are made to stay awake,
to sit int he stands as the curtain slowly makes its way to
unveil the true performance. I almost used to think of the Stars
int he sky, as if they were a Play in action, a reenactment;
thats also what my Uncle Carion used to tell me in my last
home." He thought back to the towering cliffs, the great oceans
below, the very same ocean he had lay witness to destroying
everything he had learned to care for. It brought a sickening
chill to him as he Remembered the promise he had made to
himself, to Charm. However with the brush of her hand along his
and the peak of her voice returning his question, he was stirred
from the thoughts.
At first it was only a slight buzz between them as the chemistry
of their hands touched. However it was also a longing feeling,
one that left him almost in anticipation for the next time such
an accident happened. He didn't move his hand, rather it
slightly swayed against hers, neither of them willing to turn it
into anything more, and again he thought to himself only this
time aloud. "A promise.." he stated calmly and loosened his
fingers so that they now brushed against her hand in a rhythm. "
I was thinking of a promise that I made to someone very
important to me, My sister actually.." he smiled to her but then
found his gaze met the earth again " Aside from that though, I
was wondering how in all of the places I could have ended up, i
came out so lucky?" he looked toward her only placing his hand
over hers like a ghost caressing the warmest of blankets. " I
was just thinking really to myself before the Promise came to
mind, how much I have loved this entire day, from the awkward
meet at the Hot dog stand, to us laying here simply gazing at
stars, its just all amazing, to me when I felt id never find
any peace to my eternal hell, I never guessed id find such and
amazing beautiful being to keep me company. not in a million
years." he stated slightly trailing off with his words as he
propped his head upon his palms and held them to the back of his
head, he fell silent.

Annika smiled as she stared up at the stars. It always humbled
her to look up at them, she felt so much smaller and
insignificant to the entire universe but it was a nice feeling
to have. It kept her down to earth. Listening to Kota's
description of the sky, she closed her eyes and tried to imagine
it the way he described, seeing the blue sky ripple as if it
were a giant piece of silk before it was pulled away by the sun
to reveal the moon and the stars, dancing their sparkling ballet
across the dark sky. It was such a beautiful thought, she wanted
to see it for real. Opening her eyes again, she stared once more
up to the stars and began trying to work out the constellations.
It was difficult since some were missing their stars in the
light of the city, but she could see some. For the first time in
the last few months, she felt at peace. Ever since her memories
had returned, she had felt unsettled. Like there was something
missing, as if there was something huge she'd forgotten or left
behind. But as she lay there, her hand lightly touching against
Kota's, she felt calm.
For a moment, she was quiet, simply listening to the light
whisper of the wind as it brushed over the wind, causing it to
tickle her legs and her arms. She smiled to herself as she felt
his fingers brushing against her hand, turning her head to look
across at him while he spoke. "What kind of promise?" As he
continued, she found her cheeks began to warm up, heat rising to
them as they turned a light shade of pink. Especially as his
hand moved over to rest above hers. By the time he had finished,
her cheeks were a light rosy red and even as he rested his hands
beneath his head, she simply stared at him and blinked.
Gathering her thoughts, she smiled and then turned over to lay
on her stomach, her elbows propping her up so that if she tilted
her head a little, she could still see the stars. "You're very
sweet, Kota." she looked over at him, resting her head on the
palm of her hand. "But you flatter me..." She smiled lowered her
gaze, picking at a few blades of grass beneath her.

What the hell was he doing honestly? After all he had only met
this girl just today, wasn't he slipping a bit to fast? It
frustrated him, mostly because he had no idea what to do with
himself; he had never dealt with the slight emotions stirring
within him before. Of course he had witnessed similar, not one
of his most fond memories at all. None of that mattered however,
he had to straighten up before he looked like an even bigger
idiot. " Sweet?" he asked as he heard her comment on him, of
course it brought that cute little smile back to his features
but he was still fairly confused. " I am.." he was cut off
though when she accused him of flattery. It didn't upset him, in
all the way she seemed she almost looked as if she were the same
as him with all this fluff inside. "I am just honest Annika,
thats just how it feels to be around you." he stated calmly then
sighed to himself before shutting his eyes again and falling
back into the darkness and silence. There was more he had to
answer though.
"My Father Kayis Asader, had three Children, One boy, me as you
can tell, and the eldest sister was born of the same Mother, My
mother. Then at some point in his waste of a life he helped to
conceive my little sister Charm. She is only half sister to me,
however is practically my twin by some odd strand of fate." it
brought a smile to his features to think of the little girl and
how she used to cling to him. Then the gruesome part returned to
him." Eventually in my search for My Awol father, that I have
never met Charm and I found each other and eventually we lived
with each other, that all changed the day that they came..." he
growled an emphasis on "they" as his fist shook slightly, but he
caught his breath and sighed. "That day everything fell, the
Abyssals came through and only because they wanted it as such,
The Leader summoned the entire ocean into a giant spear of this
new energy that he lay down upon the place I called home, and
all I remembered as I was being carried away by my Uncle Carion
was the White haired man that had been holding my sister Charm.
How the whole building disappeared where I had just been, and
the White haired man ran off ..... into battle.. to die.. and
kill.. The Abyssals destroyed the single place I have been able
to call home since I watched my Mother fade over Months of
Depression.. That is my promise though.. I will never see anyone
suffer in that way, not like I had to.. even from the beginning
the ring leader ruined my life.. took my mother, took my home
and friends and even some family. My Promise is I will end
them.. so that no one will ever witness such heartache as that
again." he stopped suddenly a small trickle of a crystal tear
spilling from his eyes though he quickly shut them again as he
lay there.. " I promised it to charm, Myself.. I promised.."
That was the painful part however, he was no closer to his goal
now than he had ever been, he had found a place, a simple way
that he could settle down and let it all go.. but it was his
Contract.. a contract unbreakable, just the same as all Abyssals
his destiny , his Contract, to end the Abyssals.. to finally
shut down the pain that had lasted in physical form of millions
of years. "Here I am though, enjoying life, when suffering still
caresses my veins. the worst part..." he stated looking over at
her.. though, " I wish I could stay..."
