Sara Beth blushed. Wow. So... So formal. "I.. I'm not
surprised... about what others will do to familiars... The Magi
flat out severed and killed one of my previous ones." She hugged
herself and Syphl growled a bit. Mistress. You should leave this
place. It's not good for your energies.
She nodded, "Sara Beth if you didn't hear from before." She
smiled, "By the way, there's no need to be so formal. I view...
well, most witches as family. And I have a lot to thank you
for." She smiled a bit more and started towards the door.
"Maybe I could treat you to some dinner? Having someone to talk
this through will help keep me together.. Hehe." She laughed
nervously, but she was telling the honest truth. She felt about
ready to crumple.

Clara nodded in agreement, her brow furrowed with concern. "I'm
sorry you had to go through the loss of a familiar." A chill ran
down her spine at the very thought of losing Pan and he seemed
to feel it too, nuzzling against her neck softly. I agree with
Syphl, we should leave. Clara nodded in agreement and began to
lead them out, the soft pad-pad of her bare feet echoing
throughout the hall.
"It's nice to meet you, Sara Beth. And while we may all be
sisters in one way or another, I still like to keep my manners.
I don't think of it as formal, just polite." She smiled and
rolled her shoulders slightly. "It separates us from the humans.
They're crude and barbaric and quite frankly rather rude. I like
to make sure I stay well clear of that." She snorted with
bemusement.
Hearing the offer of dinner, she smiled and slipped her arm
beneath Sara Beth's so that they were linked. "Well, I cannot
say no to an offer of food." She chuckled and reached up to
lower her hood, revealing deep pink hair that seemed to have
silver tones reflecting through it, moving like the smoke that
swirled in Pan's eyes. "I don't think I've eaten for a
fortnight, I'm starving."

Sara smiled a bit when they joined her and Syphl. Maybe things
would be okay. She started heading back to her home. Trying not
to think to much about anything. Barely noticing that Clara had
hitched them together at the arm. "Wait.." She said after a
moment of silence. "A fortnight?! Of course your starving!" She
looked at the woman surprised. Maybe her small size was more due
to light eating rather than healthy eating?
She ignored her comments about humans. Though she kind of did
agree a bit. Witches still had emotions like humans. She bit her
lip a bit trying to think of what to cook, when a chill wind
made her shiver a bit. "What do you feel about stew?" She smiled
a bit at Clara. "Something warm about a fire sounds really good
right now."
When they got to the door she opened it up. It was large, and
even Pan could easily fit in physical form if he wanted.
"Welcome to my home!" Home

this for me. It's too bad it's falling apart. The magic used to
protect this place is hard to sustain.. And sometimes has holes
in it.." She smiles a bit. "But it has it's charms." She lead
them to the living room and with a flick of her wrist, the fire
in the hearth flared up. "I'll go get cooking." She smiled and
walked into the kitchen down the hall a bit. Immediately noises
of cooking started.

Clara hummed softly while they walked, no particular tune but it
played quite nicely for seemingly random notes. She raised a
brow at Sara's exclamation about her eating habits, shrugging
her shoulders slightly. "I rarely eat. I can gain energy and
nutrients through other ways and food just slows me down.
Besides, it's expensive and I have no pockets." She laughed and
peered down at her dress. She'd once carried around a small
purse that held gold coins but after all the trouble it caused
with thieves and bandits on the road, she stopped.
Believe me, I have tried on many occasion to convince her to
eat. She is barely skin and bones and she forgets I feel her
hunger too. Pan earned himself a roll of the eyes from Clara who
pushed her hand through his side, causing a ripple of smoke to
erupt from his misty flesh. "You don't need food, you're a
spirit." He grunted and she ignored him, though a smile lingered
in the corner of her lips. "Stew sounds perfect!"
When they reached the house, Clara peered up at it intently. "Oh
my, such a grand home!" She paused briefly at the door until she
was welcomed before stepping inside, she'd always felt it bad
luck to enter another witch's home without invitation. Pan
dissolved into mist and slipped through the door beside Clara,
re-condensing inside. He sniffed at the air for a moment, then
nodded and looked towards Sara Beth. I can feel the magic wavers
in places. Would you like me to strengthen it while you eat?
They followed her through to the living room where Clara settled
herself in front of the fire.

Sara Beth poked her head out of the kitchen, smiled, and shook
her head. "No, I was hoping I could practice.... with
Guenivere..." She bit her lip and went back into the kitchen.
Sounds of chopping furiously started from the kitchen now.
Syphl was still in the living room. Mistress cherishes this
house. She want's to take care of it herself. Syphl curled up on
the rug and purrs.
The kitchen started getting noisier but Sara Beth wasn't saying
anything more. She was focused on making food for her guest.

Very well. Pan nodded and then settled down beside Syphl,
stretching out his lanky legs and giving a soft huff as he
relaxed. It was nice to have a rest, they'd been travelling for
quite some time now. His eyes closed and he seemed to doze off
into a light sleep, his ears twitching occasionally showing that
he was still listening carefully for any sounds of danger. A
mere habit that was impossible for him to break.
Clara clambered to her feet and padded out to the kitchen,
holding her hands behind her back and leaning against the door
frame. "Is there anything I can do to help? I don't really like
sitting around while another witch works, I prefer to earn what
I'm given." She stepped into the kitchen to see if there was
anything that needed doing, even if it were something as simple
as filling a pot with water.
Back in the living room, Pan had opened one eye to peer down at
Syphl, lowering his head to be level with the feline. I am sorry
that you have lost others, are you still connected or was your
bond broken when theirs was broken from your mistress? He hoped
he wasn't coming off as rude or intrusive, he was simply curious
and hated people who would beat around the bush instead of
asking straight questions.

Damn! She came in! Why? Damn. Her eyes were watering though
there were some cut up onions. Each in about 12 chunks. She was
cutting large pieces of veggies. The meat was already in the pot
with the broth. "Steak and Veggies." She smiled at Clara. "You
could.. Maybe grab the plates? All I have to do is throw the
veggies." She smiles as she tosses in the onions first and
sniffles. "Dang onions" she chuckled.
Syphl looked at Pan and shook his head, Mistress never bonded us
together. We were all separately bonded. She didn't want anyone
but her feeling if we were dying. Not sure how the Mistress did
it. Syphl didn't say anything more, just flicked his tail.

Clara breathed in deeply through her nose. Gosh, it really smelt
amazing in here already. She nodded at the instructions and
started rummaging through the cupboards to find the plates,
taking out two and then pausing. "Will your familiar eat with
us? Pan doesn't exactly eat normal food. Being a spirit creature
he doesn't need to eat at all really, but Syphl is a cat, right?
I don't know how it works with that kind of familiar." She
laughed and shook her head in bewilderment. She'd never really
thought about it before, did regular familiar animals eat
regular food? She'd never paid attention before around other
witches.
Pan tilted his head slightly, puzzled. Never bonded you
together? How strange, what benefit would that have? He frowned
to himself while he pondered this and then raised an eyebrow.
Are you sure she really is a witch at all? He chuckled, clearly
joking. Though the thought had crossed his mind, she certainly
was a rather odd one at that. He heard a soft voice in the back
of his mind, "Be polite, we are their guests." Being a spirit
familiar had it's drawbacks. He often forgot their minds were
connected in spirit and Clara was able to hear and see anything
he experienced. He hung his head in shame and his aura seemed to
soften. I apologise if that was rather brash, merely a joke.

"If Sylph want's to he normally is in here by now. But at the
moment he's blocking me out.." she scrunched her nose and brows
together a bit. "He must be tired to be completely blocking me
out. But.. he's probably already eaten." She sighs and stirred
the pot a bit and threw in the rest of the veggies as she did
so. She smiles a bit and then tosses a little bit of salt and
pepper in as well just for taste. She wafted a bit and smiled.
"Just a few more minutes." She put a lid on the pot and walked
over to Clara. "You know... I've been wondering... if I'm really
cut out to be a witch... I can't really do anything right but
make pacts with familiars..." She looked at the ground and shook
her head.
Syphl hissed at Pan but then backed down when he realized he'd
been joking. Don't say that to the mistress, she's already
shaken in her belief that she really is one.. Syphl laid his
head back down on his paws and didn't look at Pan. She doesn't
understand how powerful she is yet. All her teachers suddenly
disappeared and she's been learning by trial ever since. The
Circle doesn't realize who she is either. But we do. All of her
familiars know who she is to become.

Clara nodded, only setting out the two plates. She rummaged
around for cutlery and set those out too before turning her back
to the worktop and leaning her rump against it, her arms folded
across her chest in a way that almost pushed her bosom up. Her
bare legs crossed over one another and she flicked a strand of
scarlet hair back into place while she listened to the young
witch. "You say that, and yet it takes a pretty strong witch to
have a connection with more than one familiar. Why do you think
most rarely go beyond two? I've never known of a witch to have
as many as you." She smiled, though this faded as she saw the
expression on her face. "Hey," her voice softened and she
reached a hand out to place it gently on the side of her arm.
"Sylph and the others would not stay if they did not feel your
power. A witch can choose her familiar but they only connect
with us if they know we are strong enough."
Pan seemed almost surprised at the hiss, rather taken aback. He
hadn't expected such a strong response, he hadn't meant it in a
bad way. In fact, he'd rather been suggesting perhaps she was
more than a simple witch. Clara was strong, that was for
certain, and some of the spells she could produce were simply
breathtaking, but he knew just as Clara knew that it took a
special kind of witch to take on so many familiars. I would not
dream of it if it is something that deters her. He lowered his
head level to Syphl, his large eyes almost the same size as the
cat's head. I feel Clara will not ask out of mere politeness,
but I must. You talk about who she is, but who [b]is she?[/i]
