       ls Love Truely Magic?

Sara Beth looked at her crow familiar. "Why are you here I
thought I told you to hide in the shadow." She hissed angrily.
Walking to the Magi's Temple. They had something of hers, and
she wanted it back. She was done playing games with them. The
crow responded. "Only came to report that they were expecting
you... The doors are wide open mistress." She looked at Vain..
"What? Vain.. The doors are OPEN. Doesn't that seem a little odd
to you?" She walked faster. There was definitely something
       wrong.
"I'm sorry mistress. I don't understand all the ways you humans
act." Sara turned on Vain, "I'M NOT a HUMAN! I'm a WITCH. Now
       lets go!"
Hurriedly she walked into the Magi's Temple. And it was quiet.
"What is going on?!" Her voice echoed throughout the halls.
"Hello?!" She kept looking. Running and running to the main
room. She had to make sure that everyone was okay. "Hello?!"

Clara yawned, her vivid eyes fluttering shut briefly before she
leant forwards to rest her chin on the head of the creature she
was riding. To most, it would be a formidable sight, a sort of
wolfish dear with tall horns and piercing eyes that seemed to
swirl like smoke, but to Clara he was a kind and gentle beast.
Do you feel her? The creature spoke, though it's mouth did not
       move.
"I do." Clara smiled, her fingers sinking into the ruffled fur
of her familiar. Shall I seek her? "Yes, I'm intrigued."
Without a second thought, the creature took off towards the
temple, it's nimble feet making no sound as it darted across the
       ground.
Upon reaching the temple, Clara climbed down from her familiar's
back, her bare feet making almost as little sound as the
creature that now no longer looked solid but rather misted as
though made of smoke. "Stay near." Clara spoke softly, following
the young witch into the temple and using her shouts to hide her
       footsteps.

Sara Beth felt the other witches presence, but she didn't care.
She looked at the Main hall. And the Magi's were standing there
and spoke in unison. "Welcome, Sara Beth." Sara Beth growled.
"What do you want Magi's? Why steal one of my familiars?" She
held her arm out and Vain appeared again on her arm this time.
       Cawing at the men.
The magi spoke in unison again. "She was your third. Two was
       already to many Sara Beth."
       "But she is mine!"
"You've become to powerful. You must answer to the High
       council!"
"NO! Give Guenivere back to me!"

Clara raised a brow as she listened, folding her arms over her
chest and leaning against the wall at the far end of the court
hall. So she'd taken on too many familiar's? Well, that would
explain why she had come here. But for them to take one without
a court session was simply rude on their half.
"If I might interject, council," Clara called out. She never had
been the type to stand back and watch another witch lose a
companion. "Am I wrong to assume that should she wish to appeal
to keep her familiar, this witch can call for a trial?" She
glanced across at the young witch and what was apparently one of
three familiar's, sending her a look that would say call for a
bloody trial before they rule over your argument.

"Guenivere is one of the five! You can't just own..!" The Magi's
were interrupted by the young witch that had followed Sara Beth
in. She scrunched her nose. Why would she even? But then she was
       kind of right.
"I want a trial! She has as much right in this as I do!" she
       calls out to the Magi.
"Fine! A trial you shall have! Come back tomorrow to the court
room!" The Magi's spoke and then disappeared.
When they were gone, Sara Beth's legs gave out, looking down at
the floor and covering her eyes. She had broken. Guenivere was
her's! She's not going to be anyone else's! And it wasn't like
Sara Beth didn't give all her attention that she could to her
familiars. "I.. I love all my familiars..." She sniffles. "I
can't.... Lose another one... I won't let the Magi take my
       Guenivere!"

Clara couldn't help but wonder if she'd heard that right. This
girl had five familiars?! How did she keep track of them all?!
In any case, why would she need so many in the first place? Then
again, it was none of her business. She felt the cool touch of
her own familiar as a tendril of smoke brushed her cheek and she
smiled, remembering the first time they had found one another
and had become companions. Yes, there was something special
about the bond between witch and familiar, she could see why
this girl would want more than one.
Her attention returned to the girl and council and she listened
intently to their decision, nodding to herself. True, the
council were firm and often cruel but they had their laws for a
reason, if witches could not be fair amongst themselves, how
would they expect anyone else to treat them fairly?
She frowned a little as she watched the girl fall to her knees,
chewing her lower lip uncertainly. Uh oh, she was rusty on
emotions, what was the social custom when someone was upset
again? Hot beverage? A kind pat on the shoulder? It had been a
while since she'd been around others, her social skills weren't
       exactly up to scratch.
"Hey, at least you get a trial, right?" She offered, padding
across the floor in her bare feet towards the crying witch. Her
familiar followed behind before overtaking her, seeing how
useless she was being. He lowered his head to the girl and
nuzzled her cheek, (an impressive feat in itself as he was well
over 7 foot tall) his touch soft and cool like mist. It is no
use crying, little one. You must be strong for your Guenivere,
we will help you prepare for your trial tomorrow. He glanced
over at Clara who nodded and smiled, placing her hand on the
       witch's shoulder.
       "That's right, we'll help."

She sniffled a bit until the other witches familiar came and
rubbed against her, which made her pet it's flank automatically.
She hoped that the witch wouldn't mind. But she needed it. She
bit her lip and nodded a bit. "Th... they really are trying to
take her because she's one of The Five of lore. I don't think
I'll win against them. They say two is too much... They took
away one from me not to long ago.. Severed our bond... It hurt.
       So much.."
She shook her head and pulled away from the deer familiar, and
suddenly a large black cat appeared. My mistress is kind and
loving. They don't see her worth as a witch. it prowled around
her even as she stood up. She looked at the other witch and
       wiped at her tears.
"Guenivere is probably so worried.. and scared.. Just like I
am... I love her.. so much." She looked at the other witch, "Y..
       You... understand.. right?"

Clara felt a brief chill down her spine as the younger witch
placed her hand on her familiar, though she shrugged it off.
There had been times in the past when far worse had been done to
him, she was beyond the boundaries of touching another witch's
familiar now. Listening to her as she spoke, Clara's head tilted
to the side slightly. "The five of lore? You'll have to help me
out a little, my memory isn't what it used to be." She chuckled
and crouched down beside her, hugging her knees to her chest and
       balancing on her toes.
"You will, you'll have our help. I've been here many a time in
my years, there's all sorts of loopholes and such that we can
use." She smiled and this time it was a genuine smile. She
remembered being so young and feeling helpless against the
council, scared of what might happen. Clara had never had
someone to help and guide her, she wasn't going to let this
witch go through the same. Her voice lowered to a gentle whisper
as she placed what she hoped would be a comforting hand on her
shoulder. "I won't let them take her from you."
As the witch stood, so too did Clara. Her familiar peered down
at the cat before nodding in agreement. What the council forget
is that a bond between witch and familiar cannot be forced. And
a familiar will not bond with a witch that is not worthy of
their aid. He looked across at the witch with his gentle eyes
that seemed to hold a condolence.
"Of course, I understand." Clara placed both hands on the
witch's shoulders and a stern look came across her face though
her voice was still soft. "But you must stay strong. Use that
love as determination, I will not let them take her from you."

"The Five of Lore. The most powerful familiars by themselves.
I.. hadn't realized until after I bonded with Guenivere.. She
was the Great Wolf. There are four others. The Great Snake, The
Great Cat, The Great Phoenix, and the Great Elk. Most familiars
come from a derivative of one of them. Born from their excess
power." She bit her lip, not sure how else to put it. "I... I
didn't mean to do anything bad... A.. And Guenivere was in
trouble... I.. I couldn't just leave her alone. And it all
happened so fast! And she got so much stronger when we bonded
and.." She clasped her hand over her mouth. She was shaking a
bit. Nervous, she had spoke way to much, a witch must stay calm
       and collected. Must stay controlled.
Taking a deep breath her hands fell back to her side, the feline
familiar rubbing against the right one, and Sara started petting
him. "Syphl, my dearest... Thank you." Was all she could say.
She looked like she was spaced out for a moment and then she
       realized what she had done.
Sara Beth looked at the woman. She may look young, but this
witch was definitely far older than her. She bit her lip a bit
and stepped back a bit. "S.. Sorry, for touching your
familiar... I.... it was a reflex.."
She looked down at the floor and felt a little guilty about what
she'd done. So young and she had 3 familiars, while this witch
stayed loyal to only one. Maybe she was wrong? But she couldn't
help but love any and all familiars and spirits that seemed to
connect to her. A spirit, in the form of a butterfly, fluttered
out of her hair and onto the top of her hair. "Yui~" Sara smiled
and held a finger out. "Had a nice nap did you? Why don't you go
find you're friends and be with them for a bit while I talk to
this kind witch." She smiled to the other witch, nodding and the
butterfly flew back into Sara Beth's hair. "Spirits... what can
you do?" She shrugged and looked like she was feeling a bit
       better.
For a moment she just stood there, not sure what to say now. She
rocked on her feet a little and started to look a little more
       nervous. What could she do?

Clara raised a brow as she listened to the witch; how had she
not heard of these before? Then again, her upbringing hadn't
exactly been 'traditional witch'. She hadn't had anyone to teach
her or tell her the history of anything, just a mysterious book
that had been left behind after a witch's house had been burnt
down in her village as a child. A smile crossed her lips briefly
as she thought back to the foolish witch who had bragged about
her powers to the fearful village people - her mother always had
       been stupid.
"It's alright," she smiled at the witch's apology, her own hand
reaching to rest against her familiar's shoulder. "He came to
you first. Besides, worst things have happened to him. You'd be
surprised how many people disapprove of a spirit familiar and
how many other witches get jealous and try to..." Her voice
faded and her eyes glazed over for a moment as flickers of
memories came to mind, though she quickly threw them aside and
her gaze turned to the butterfly. "Oh, hello." She smiled and
chuckled lightly as it disappeared back to the nest of hair upon
her head. "Indeed, they really do have a mind of their own." She
glanced at her familiar and ruffled her fingers through the fur
       on his neck.
"Oh! How rude of me," she turned once more to face the witch,
adjusting her hood and straightening her stance. "My name is
Clara Hollow, you may call me either Clara or Hollow, I don't
mind which." She smiled and bowed her head in greeting, then
gestured towards her familiar beside her. "And this is
Pantalaemon, but you may call him Pan. It's easier." She
chuckled and her familiar, Pan, stretched one foreleg out and
bowed his head deeply in a grand gesture. A pleasure to meet
you, little one. And you, Syphl. He bowed his head towards the
cat familiar as well, prompting Clara to do the same with a
       smile.
