The Restless Road
By: UrdroxasReturn Date: October 14, 2015, 7:48 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Leaving the gates of a relatively small village, a young man
resumed his endless journey. A man very loosely clad in red
floral print silk robes that had parted revealing his perfectly
sculpted chest. Around his head were large tufts of whisping red
furs that seemingly gave him a fiery mane. His right arm pulled
from the sleeve and was crossed over his chest, his hand seen
from the parting in his robe. His hands seemed to be bandaged
tightly in bright white wraps. His other arm hidden by the
draping sleeve. The bottom of the robes have been tucked into
his long and equally baggy black silken pants. Blood red silken
wrappings held the robes and pants firmly to his body. He wore
simple wooden sandals, his toenails neatly trimmed and every bit
about him seemed neatly maintained. Semi-long blood red hair
seemed to drape down his face and part down the middle, barely
showing his eyes. His face seemed young and vibrant, always
keeping a small smile spread over his lips. Making him appear
incredibly friendly and just overall happy. At his waist were
two very distinct weapons, his left side held an incredibly
large holstered magnum. The barrel itself was about a foot and a
half long and it's boxy design made it seem incredibly heavy. It
was blood red with intricate golden filigree decorating it's
exterior. On his right side was a blood red sheath, holding what
appeared to be a very large Katana. The length of which was
longer than a normal model. It's hilt was jet black. An ominous
Oni (Demon) mask adorned the top of his head, ready to be pulled
down at any moment.
His passionate red eyes gazed out over the road before him,
already having put nearly a mile from the city he departed.
Looking out he notices the road leading into a dark forest.
Chuckling lightly to himself he unties the string holding up his
sheath and grips it in the middle in his right hand. Ready to
use it at any given moment. He gently rests the upper part of
the scabbard over his shoulder, his left hand swaying gently at
his side. "And once more we go into the unknown..." He then
rifles around in his pockets with his left hand and pulls out a
small Ipod, plugging in the right earbud, he lets the other
dangle, keeping one ear open he presses play. The rhythmic beats
of heavy techno music begins to faintly, yet audibly, come from
the dangling bud. His lips curving further into a content smile
as he starts to relax, not liking open places he felt at ease in
the dense forestry that surrounded him on both sides. His long
gait slowly turns into a slight shuffle as he begins to dance on
the go. Chuckling to himself as he does so. 'You should be
keeping your eyes AND ears open Moon...' Echoed a voice in his
mind, somehow overcoming the loud music. "Silence Sun, it's my
turn. Now go back to sleep." Nova grunts, slapping his head with
his left hand. He then shakes his head and once more chuckles,
resuming his half-dance.

The girls had been lost on the road for hours. Their weekend get
away coming to an end when they burned their cabin. They had
been dropped off and had their cell phones taken home. This was
a yearly thing they had done ever since Ally gave Elly life. But
when Ally got a burr up her butt and decided to grill flames
caught the cabin and before they knew it the whole building was
up in flames. So much for that bright idea. They so far to get
to the nearest city just to use a phone. It was of course Ally
who started to complain first. "ELLY! We are never doing this
again! My feet hurt." Elly only shook her head. "It's your fault
we are in this predicament. Hush and keep walking."
Elly flipped her blue hair and walked on ahead. She wore her
usual outfit. Black hoodie over a white t-shirt and black skinny
jeans with combat boots on. They were almost never laced. Ally,
wore a pink tank top and a black half shirt with three quarter
inch sleeves and pink zebra stripes on the half shirt. She wore
a jean skirt and high heeled shoes. But she was so damned afraid
of the road making her feet rough she refused to remove them.
When Elly offered her boots and to go bare foot Ally quickly
rejected. She wouldn't wear those old boots if someone paid her.
Those were the shoes Elly wore all day every day. They were
years old. Elly knew Ally's feet hurt, but if nothing she did
was accepted then so be it. She didn't enjoy walking slow
though. And Ally whining every step of the way.
Something in the tall grass moved, and Ally gave a shriek. "Come
on Ally. It's probably a coyote or something. Just ignore it."
Elly pulled on her arm but Ally was frozen in fear, looking into
some very red eyes approaching. Or in her mind they looked red.
She took a step back and a wolf, followed by another and another
stepped out of the grass. A growl came from behind them and Elly
whipped around to see two more eyes. The wolves slowly
approached them. "Ally we are going to have to run. "Elly
whispered leaning down behind Ally. "What are you doing?" She
whispered. Elly shook her head. "Hold my shoulder real fast."
Ally obeyed and Elly broke off the spikes of Ally's heels.
"Run." She yelled, and stood up, and bolting down the street
practically dragging a whining Ally behind her. "Lets go." She
yelled back and jerked on Ally's arm. The wolves chased close
behind them. "There's gotta be a farm house or something." Elly
tried to look. "There!" Ally cried and pulled Elly off to the
side. They saw a barn and ran straight for it, hurrying up the
ladder behind Ally, Elly was stopped as one of the wolves
grabbed her boot and started shaking it. "Ally hold on to the
loft, don't let the ladder fall!" She screamed before holding
onto the ladder for dear life and began to kick the wolf.
Finally it gave a yelp and let go, giving Elly a chance to get
up the ladder. Ally pushed the ladder away from the loft. "I
don't think wolves can clime ladders Ally." Elly panted. "You
don't know that. Maybe they can." But now the girls had a new
problem. There were several very hungry wolves waiting for them
in the barn. And they didn't see any one or anything around that
they could get to help them. Away from the wolves or out of the
loft.

Still bobbing his head rhythmically he starts to look up into
the canopy above him, seeing only a dim light faintly break from
the cover. He then yawns, looking back down to the track, still
keeping up his dance-like shuffle. "Hmm, getting a bit late..."
He continues on for several feet before he suddenly starts
picking up faint voices, then they become frantic and turns into
screaming. Clenching the sheath tighter in his right hand his
casual smile vanishing in an instant as he then begins to hear
the howling of a savage wolf pack. He then hunches down and
sprints with incredible speed. Easily catching up to the wolf
pack as they chase the girls into the barn. "Ah, good move
girls..." He says chuckling silently to himself. By now the
rearmost wolves have begun to take notice to his presence. Their
snarls now turning to him, his smile suddenly reappears, feeling
his blood pump at the sight of a new challenge. "Now listen here
puppies, I don't wanna kill you, you're too damn beautiful a
creature." He said clenching the sheathed Katana tightly,
wrapping the small string around the hilt and scabbard, keeping
it holstered. With that the wolves begun to lunge at him, one by
one they leap. With the first wolf just feet from him, he spins
the sheath in his palm and slams it hard onto the wolf's skull,
with a loud yelp it whimpers and cowers away. Then came two,
each one for his legs, followed by a third leaping towards his
torso. He let the first two latch onto his legs, his baggy
clothing being really thick and course managed to blunt the
majority of the bite, yet the canines still pierced his skin by
a half an inch. When the third leapt for his torso, Nova was
ready. Slamming his clenched fist, the one still clutching the
scabbard, into the wolf's head, stunning it with another loud
yelp. Dropping the scabbard in a swift motion, he grips the wolf
by the scruff and by the leg. Slamming it onto the heads of the
other two wolves that still gripped his shins. The three emitted
a cluster of yelps before whimpering off behind the much larger
solid black wolf, the Alpha.
Squaring off against the larger male Nova, while still facing
the Alpha, he scoops back up his sword. "I already beat your
subordinates! Don't make me kill you!" He yells loudly, his
voice deep and commanding, having no trace of wavering weakness,
completely ready to end the creature's life. The larger male
suddenly dove headlong into Nova. Nova heaved a sad sigh. "So be
it..." With a single flick of his wrist, the string holding the
Katana fell away. With a barely visable flick of the wrist, the
blade cuts through the air silently and blindingly fast in 3
swift cuts before resheathing back into it's scabbard. The wolf
stopped inches from Nova, dropping dead in 3 equal segments
along it's body. Nova turning his head away in disgust, having
disdainfully ended what he thought was a beautiful creature.
Seeing their leader slain, the other wolves scatter in all
directions, deeming their prey too much as they yip and whimper
as they flee. If any of the girls had been paying any attention
to the blade, they would notice that the blade itself was solid
red and pulsed with a foreboding energy. "It's alright girls.
They've gone. I won't hurt you." He reties the sheath back onto
his hip and then wipes his bloodied hand on his black baggy
pants that now sported new holes. Waving his now clean hand in
the air he smiles brightly. "My name's Nova!" He laughs,
seemingly care free. Yet as he fought the wolves, he seemed cold
and fierce.

Together the girls clung. Watching the wolves as they tried to
jump to them. But fortune was in their favor. A man came to
their aid. Elly looked to Ally, who was white knuckling the edge
of the loft as her eyes were glued to the man. The wolves seemed
to expect the larger one to do the work. But when the katana
started swinging it was all over so fast. Elly felt as if she
missed it. But the wolf fell into three pieces as the cuts
barely visible were made. Ally jumped back and covered her face.
Elly thought for a moment to comfort her, but couldn't take her
eyes from the man. Nova was his name. Her heart started racing.
She stared at his face and smiled.
She shook her head, blue hair flopping this way and that. "Uh
yeah, the ladder...could you pass it up?" She smiled and looked
back at Ally. "Come on." Ally moved her hands and shook her
head. "That wasn't human Elly. He was too fast. What if he's
lying, what if he hurts us?" Elly stopped for a minute and
thought. "Well we are sitting ducks up here if he wants to,
because all he has to do is climb up. But he just saved us. Be
grateful." She looked back down to him. Her heart beating fast
again. Goosebumps rising on her flesh. He was so...handsome
seemed to weak a word. But her mind refused to make any
legitimate thought at the moment.
Ally watched as Elly seemed blown away by this stranger. She
herself was not so eager, he was dangerous, and Ally didn't
trust him. But Elly was right. He could hurt them anyway if he
wanted to. So slowly and shaking she climbed forward and looked
over the edge. "Thank you, eh, Nova. This is Elly and I'm Ally.
Thank you for helping us." She looked to the dead wolf. She was
sure whoever owned this barn would be well beyond upset when
they seen the struggle here. But at least the were alive. "OH
ELLY. Your foot is it alright?" Elly hadn't even thought about
it. The memory of the wolf latching onto her flooding back into
her mind. She leaned back and brought her boot up.
There were holes in the boot, and in one spot it was punctured
through. She sighed and pulled her boot off, her white sock wet
and dripping crimson material. A tooth was stuck in her sock.
She winced as she pulled it out. And kept her back turned so she
could try to hide it from Ally. "I'm fine. Just a tooth in my
boot." She smiled and shoved her boot back on before Ally could
see the wound. "Really come on lets get down from here. And
thank you Nova. These wolves would have had us for sure!" She
waved down to him and looked at the dead body of the wolf.
Perhaps she should bury it. Return it to the Earth. She scanned
around for a shovel but couldn't find one. Once she got down she
would have to look for one.

Nova smiled and nodded, looking down through the two large front
doors he finds the tossed ladder. "Yaknow, that was awful quick
thinking, hiding above them and kicking the ladder out. Not so
much in forethought though, no matter, a brilliant plan
nonetheless." He says complimenting them and partially taking it
away, having now taken the ladder and positioned it back up to
them. Having heard their concern for Elly's wound. Having a
naturally caring soul he rushes up the ladder, his eyes very
lightly wincing witch each step, trying to hide the fact he too
was in a bit of pain. His ruby colored eyes shimmered lightly as
his smiling face greeted them. Resting on butt next to Elly he
smiles and nods. "Ah, one get ya did he? Here. I have something
for that." He then rifles through a pocket on the interior of
the right side of his robe. Pulling out a small vial filled with
a rainbow hued liquid. He then lifts his legs out in front of
himself and slides the baggy and slightly torn pant legs up. His
chiseled legs were tight and well toned. Several rather deep
puncture wounds show on his shins and ankles, they still bled
lightly. He pulled the tiny cork from the vial and dripped small
droplets into the wounds, and as if burning, the holes sizzled
away. Then, he takes the vial and drinks a very tiny amount.
Smiling as he seems to thoroughly enjoy the taste. "There. Now
you know it works, here, take it. I can always make more."
His ever-present smile an attempt at reassuring them. He then
looks past Elly to Ally. "You. Are you alright? Have you been
snagged at all?" He asks genuinely concerned for her well being.
For some reason he felt deeply compelled to help others. Nova
then nods lightly before leaning back against a hay pile. "So...
What brings you two out here? Awful dangerous to be out alone in
the dark. Though I guess you two will never be alone so long as
you have each other." He yawns lightly, looking out to the
forest, seeing now it was getting darker by the minute. "Hm,
it's getting late. You two got some place to go? Might have to
put those plans aside for a moment. There are bigger things than
simple wolves, and far more dangerous." He then chuckles as his
stomach rumbles lightly. Quickly returning to that same inner
pocket he pulls out a a large bundle which seemed to be a large
leaf folded in on itself to hold it's contents. When he unfolded
the large leaf he reveals a large bundle of dried meat. "I made
this myself from a wild Stag. Don't think you'll find a better
tasting meat. And not to brag, but I think I make a mean
seasoning. Would you like to try some? Go ahead! Take a few
handfuls!" He said laughing, now munching into a large piece,
tearing it away with his pointed canines. They seemed a bit
animalistic in nature, yet overall he had human-like teeth.

Ally wanted to scream out no when he offered to give them
something to heal. But was awestruck when he used it on himself
and drank it. It was no surprise to her that Elly took it. He
seemed genuine in his attempts to aid a stranger. Or two. But
she was in no position to turn down the help. When he asked her
if she was hurt she shook her head. "Just shaken. That was quite
awful." She moved up and around them and shakily climbed down
the ladder. "I'm going to have a look around. I wont go far."
She didn't trust him, but she could see by the look on Elly's
face that maybe she was in a moment of attraction. So she wanted
to give them time to greet each other. And she wanted to see how
far the wolves had gone. So she stepped outside the barn, but
left the door open, so that way if there was trouble, both of
them were just a holler away.
Elly was amazed as he showed her the rainbow liquid. And what it
did. The wounds just vanished. She gladly accepted his offered
gift, pulling her boot and sock off, letting the liquid drip on
it. Her sock was wet with blood but she didn't have anything
else to put on anyway, so she just slid it back on and
remembered she would have to change it later. Ally moved passed
them and down the ladder. "Where are you going?" After Ally
explained Elly stared after her. What was she up to? She
willingly left her side? With a stranger? A ruggedly handsome
stranger, but a stranger. She smiled to him, to hide her
concern. When Ally made up her mind no one could stop her. She
pocketed the liquid. "Thank you Nova. It means a lot. I feel
better already." She wasn't ready to taste it for fear it would
make her drunk or something, but she would keep it. This stuff
could come in handy! She looked into his unnaturally beautiful
eyes and sighed. "Oh, uh, we were going to the nearest city to
see if we could get someone to come pick us up. My sister and I
go on vacation once a year, and we leave cell phones, and don't
take a car. So it's just her and I. It's a tradition. Well Ally
decided she was cooking tonight and the barbeque caught the
cabin on fire. It's destroyed. So we aren't exactly sure what we
are going to do.'
Why was she telling him all of this? Ally would not approve. But
she couldn't see the harm in it. He was so nice. He hadn't tried
to hurt them yet. "Hey come on." She moved to the ladder, turned
around and put her boots on either side of it avoiding the rungs
and slid down. She saw what she was looking for in the corner. A
bunch of gardening tools. A large rake, a hoe, that one thing
she couldn't remember what was called that looked like a flat
hammer, and a shovel. "We can't just leave him here." She looked
to the wolf. "He should be put to rest."

Nova chuckles lightly as he notices Ally's disdain for him even
through the subtleties she was giving off. He simply shrugged it
off as her not yet understanding him yet, he would soon try and
remedy that. He smiled, also having gazed into Elly's eyes for
mere moments before chuckling. "Of course, anything I can do to
help. I'm glad I was here to make sure you guys were alright,
don't think Ally was too impressed though. What kinda food she
like? Tell ya what. You guys are in need of a transport, and I'm
as capable an escort as anyone. I myself have no real goal at
the moment, I'd love to tag along and take you two where ever
you'd like to go." He said smiling, following her down to the
floor level of the barn. Quickly picking up the shovel with his
left hand he slings it over his shoulder. He then looks out and
notices how dark it is quickly becoming. 'You are wasting time
Blood Moon... Tick tock, you lack dedication... It's
infuriating...' That same voice echoes once more in his mind.
Gritting his teeth and pausing in the doorway he sighs, wanting
to argue with the voice aloud, yet that would make him seem very
unstable, so instead he shrugs it off and begins to approach the
corpse. Raising his right hand, palm facing up, several small
wisps of varying light pop out, floating delicately around them,
illuminating the area in a colorful light. A small red wisp
follows him around, acting as his personal flashlight.
He quickly begins to dig huge amounts of soil out of the ground
diligently. Using the spade he slides the 3 portions of the wolf
into the hole, and he pours the soil back over the hole. "From
the earth, so shall you return... I'm sorry..." He sighs once
more before turning back to the barn. Rubbing his arms for a
little more warmth. He then begins to pile up random wooden
debris, creating a small fireplace just outside the barn doors.
He then points to it, and the wisp then dives straight into it,
exploding itself to create a small and easily contained fire.
Holding his hands up to it he smiles and nods. "Come join me by
the fire pit! I could always cook something up should you guys
get hungry." He says munching on some of the jerky he had
offered them earlier. He had snuck quick peeks at Elly here and
there, admiring her hair and other delicate features.

Elly wanted to help him but there was only one shovel, so
instead she went to the dead wolf and ran her hand over his
head. His lifess eyes stared at her and all she felt was guilt.
She knew she didn't kill him but he was dead because she and
Ally took a walk on the wild side. Ally came in just as Elly
closed the animals eyes. She kneeled beside Elly and leaned
against her. Elly jumped. "Ooh you're cold." Elly smiled and
tilted her chin toward Nova. "See he has a heart." She
whisperded. Elly ran over the conversation with him in private
in her mind. "You could be grateful. We would be wolfy kibble if
he didn't come along." Ally felt guilty herself. "Wait what's he
doing with his hand?" Elly rolled her eyes. "Duh magic. You do
magic, you cant think you are the only person in the world with
magic."
The conversation died as he came for the animal. Ally and Elly
both bowing their heads in his prayer. They followed him into
the barn. Elly's own stomach growled. "You know what Ally? We
haven't had venison in forever and the one time you do, you kill
it with fire." Elly went to the fire and finally answered his
question, deer sounds wonderful If you can find that." She sat
next to Nova and smiled. Ally next to her. Elly looked between
them and sighed. "So where were you headed on your journey? I
hope we didn't delay you too terribly." Ally leaned on Elly and
snuggled close for warmth. She always felt safer with her
sister, so now that she was relaxed her eye lids grew heavier by
the second. Soon enough she was dozing on Elly's arm.

Nova smirks as he hears about Ally's ability to use magic
aswell. He knew there was something particularly unique about
these two, he just didn't know what. He smirks as he looks down
to the dried meat he had been eating, chuckling lightly. "Well,
this is Stag, like I said. Which is a superior kind of deer. But
if dried isn't your liking, I do have several steaks prepared. I
do love cooking on occasion." He then pulls out another large
bundle, held together by a singular massive leaf. Unwrapping the
large bundle, he pulls out several smaller leaf packages, each
one very thick and large. Tossing the smaller packages onto the
fire he rotates them occasionally with a long stick.
Surprisingly, the leaves only singe but not burn.
Nova then looks to the girls. "Well... It's hard to really say
what I was doing... I know that somewhere out there lies someone
I really need to find. Something deep down within me draws me to
this person. I can't relax anymore. Every fiber of my being
aches, and there is no relief. Not even Mana Tears can heal my
pain." He then rolls his head to face Elly, his gaze having been
stuck on the dancing flames for the whole speech until this
point. "The liquid I gave you earlier. It has no side effects,
if anything it actually produces a euphoria that stimulates the
senses to higher levels. It's actually quite the concoction I
came up with." He yawned lightly, turning over the tender slabs
of meat. "Heh, beautiful ladies like yourselves are a pleasant
break from the constant fighting and endless searching. I feel
like I can calm down around other people." He then smiles,
jamming the stick into each steak then slides the wrapped
packages onto his lap. Handing each wrapped steak to the girls,
the leaves would be very surprisingly cool to the touch. When
they would open to reveal the perfectly darkened slabs the
wondrous smells would tantalize their nostrils. Small easily
disposable wooden forks and a tiny blade were tucked in aswell,
somehow they didn't damage the leaf covering. "Well, dig in! I
hope you like it!"

Ally opened her eyes occasionally listening to the conversation,
but nothing could keep her fully in consciousness The smell of
the steaks barely rousing her.. Elly found comfort in her
sisters head resting on her arm. She barely noticed she was
being so quiet, only rousing her when she reached into her pocket
and pulled out the drink. "No side effects at all?" She asked
him and arched an eyebrow. Ally woke up to that. "Elly I don't
think you should drink that." The words came out in a hushed
whisper. Then she caught scent of the cooking steaks again.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Elly just rolled her eyes and
took a small sip. The fire seemed to be a little brighter, but
she didn't feel woozy or anything. "That tastes....like nothing
I've ever tasted before..." She looked to Ally and offered her a
sip but Ally shook her head, peeking around Elly to peer at
Nova. He didn't seem that dangerous. A yawn escaped her. She
didn't intend on even accepting food from him. "Well I'm gonna
go lay down." She didn't wait for Elly to respond, instead going
over to a nearby hay bale. It would be scratchy and
uncomfortable but for now she could rest. She lay down and
watched them for a while, but the heaviness of her eyelids was
getting to her.
Elly sighed and shook her head at Ally. "Whatever." Then she
looked back to Nova, it smells amazing. I'm sorry about Ally."So
are mana tears what you call the drink? And I know what you're
feeling. I have a feeling deep down inside of me, that I can't
explain. I can't even talk to Ally about it and it hurts her.
But I just can't." How could she tell Ally that she yearned to
be away from her? Not to completely leave her but to instead
have a life of her own. Be more than just Elly. She wanted her
own life. Independence. She wanted to be her own person. She
looked over to Ally who was asleep. Then she turned back to Nova
and smiled as he handed out the steaks. "I don't think that one
is needed." She gestured to the one for Ally. But she was eager
to dig into her own. An explosion of flavor burst over her taste
buds." Oh my god! This is amazing."She took another bite
savoring the taste. "You are a very good cook."
