A Tactical Move?
By: Elin Date: September 26, 2015, 5:03 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Rest was pleasant on these days. The raucous occurrences of a
party's evening always left her heavily exhausted, especially
with how hard her sister loved to party...So once Eri's head had
hit her pillow, she was blissfully gone into the world of dreams
that lay in the softness of feathers and sheets. Imagine her
confusion when the first invade hit into the surface of her
home-realm so hard that its impact woke her up. The sudden
collision left her wondering if it was just a sensation she'd
felt in a dream...until the next hit and the next, and the next.
Rising up from her bed, tripping over the sheets entangled
against her ankles, Eri felt no pain from the impact of solid
marble into her knees and instead felt only shaking fear as the
first screams of her people could be heard. Scrambling towards
her window, Eri threw open the pale curtains and was frozen to
her place as she took in the scene only separated from her with
a single pane of glass.
Crumbled structures with smoke pouring from them, her people
running frantically and screaming as figures chased after them.
They were inhumanly fast, so fast that Eri could never get a
good look at them! All she could tell was that some ran on twos,
while others on fours, and their anatomy just didn't seem right
at all!! "Sh..Shit!" Eri had been turning to rush out of her
room and hopefully find her Father, but a sudden sound made her
think differently; the pounding of multiple footsteps that
sounded like nails clicking against marble; hastily rushing past
her closed doorway. It took her far too long to register where
this sound was headed and her blood turned cold as she heard the
first screams of her sister. Eri couldn't move, stuck in place
as she heard the sounds of her sister's screams echoing all the
way from her hallway past Eri's door and into the outside. Like
a slideshow that she could hardly comprehend, Eri slowly turned
to look out her window and for the first time she could make out
the figure clearly. Massively built and dark from head to toe,
Eri couldn't see its face but apparently her people did for the
ones still alive looked on in utter terror as he held up the
small, white haired girl who looked so similar to Eri by the
roots of her hair. With a voice like a knife made of ice, its
sound so loud that even her sister stopped squirming, he spoke;
"Eons of pampering. Timeless enjoyment for yourselves and your
Bright people, while the rest of us have suffered! Scrounging,
barely living, only surviving just so these people can live in
the lap of luxury!" In rejoice, the creatures that followed this
man cried out in sounds that were human...but not entirely,
agreeing heavily with him from what it appeared. "Well, my Dark
brethren...today, that ends! For their laziness and utter
underestimation of us have left their precious heir exposed! And
for this, I have a message for her people..." With his free
hand, the creature brought his way to her sister's throat, and
in something as infitesimal as a sheer second....Eri felt it
last for what could have been hours. That dark hand around her
sister's throat, the other into her hair, snapping her head
clean off of her body as if she was just a doll with cheap
joints. The blood that splattered brought upon utter chaos as
the creatures howled in delight, and her people howled in pain
and despair once her sister's body in two pieces rested on the
ground. "It is time for there to be a never-ending eclipse!!"
The last thing Eri saw before her eyes rolled into the back of
her head and her body gave way was the surface of her beautiful
moons slowly turning black...Eri hadn't known that her father
had been in hiding, his elusive nature making it easy for him to
slip into her room and hustle her into the depths of their
palace, bringing her to their own teleportal to the other
realms. Her consciousness drifted in and out and she could only
remember the look of heartbreak on his face, his words jumbled
and making no sense to her as he sat her into the moonlit pool.
"You can't...come back..." And her body felt weightless, light
and infinite as she was absorbed and sent far away just as the
moon eclipsed over. The reflection in the water brought sickness
to the man who had been...admittedly, a very poor father and he
still felt his regrets, but his true duty was to his
people...and thankfully having placed Eri in the realm called
Earth had left everyone else unaware that he'd even had another
daughter entirely. With his hand outstretched, the man put his
sadness aside and the water of the pool slowly began to freeze
over where he then picked up one of the idle candelabras,
smashing it into the surface and breaking the portal forever.
When she'd awaken...it'd have already been many years and
he...well, who was to say. Their people were timeless, but
without the moon...
When Eri next awoke, it was quiet and she felt the rushing of
lukewarm water against her back. It happened again and again and
she felt the distinct taste of salt against her lips. Sitting up
slowly, she felt the strange heat of mushy sand in her
fingertips and the material of her purple dress wafted around
her in the blue water's surface. "A...beach?..."

Razor watched from afar, a shadow amungst darkness, as the
goddess had ascended back to the reality that is the ball of
rock. He observed, not with longing, but, with a calm sense of
patience. He knew the boy would come to her aid. He need only
resist the temptation to go help himself. Though those
temptations proved to be for nothing as Xamphere approached the
woman's body: her consciousness just now returning. His right
eye was gold in color but the left was simply a black void. A
blue energy slowly flowing from it in the appearance of a pupil.
The energy appearing to be a light blue smoke of sort. Though
his long white hair cascaded over his face in well maintained
strands.as he heard her words Xamphere could only kneel down by
her. Slipping his hands under her to lift her up into his arms.
"Yes... A beach... It's beautiful..." he spoke plainly as he
began to walk along the beach.
Once they had reached a small, for the most part destroyed, no
doubt from hurricanes, he had sat her against the dried wood. It
was not much but he wanted to get her somewhere dry. A little
more pleasant. Once he placed her down he slowly walksd outwards
towards the water line. Closing his eyes as he listened calmly
to the waves.would she recognize him...? They had only met once
before and he had changed so much since then... he was broken
only to be rebuilt... Much different from before. If anything he
had grown more like her in appearance: his white hair being the
most obvious of the new traits. he would see once she was fully
comprehendable. though there was one thing that bothered him...
The unshakable, uneasy, feeling of being watched. this same
feeling following him since he began this journey of change.
((Pretty bad on my part. ill probably get better. just using the
phone sucks.))

Her muddled mind heard the sounds of the waves slowly and
muffled, the process of being forcibly teleported without
preparation on her part left her feeling vaguely...disembodied.
Again and again the crescendoing waves caressed her body as if
welcoming her back to her old realm; the sensation was warm and
calming and she almost felt herself drifting into sleep once
again had it not been for the strange and familiar voice that
rung more clear than the waves did in her ears. It wasn't until
she opened her heavy eyelids that she realized she was no longer
being rocked in the embrace of waves, but in the arms of a man
in stride. Eri found her head too heavy to move and her body was
equally unable to respond so she was at this man's mercy for the
time being....
Once he set her down and walked into the distance, she was able
to slightly see his powerful frame at the water's edge and once
more, the haunting familiarity struck her again. He looked so
similar to...something...or someone. Eri couldn't quite wrap her
head around it, the whole encounter just feel like a sleep
paralysis induced dream; perhaps she wasn't even out of the
water at all, right? "I'm...I'm not at the Lunar plane
anymore...where am I?" Her words felt heavy, dry and raspy
against her dehydrated tongue. There weren't beaches like this
in her plane...and even though the man had the white hair of her
heritage, she could definitely sense he wasn't one of hers. The
weakness in her limbs was horrifying for her as she struggled to
sit upright at least and somehow she managed, despite the
humiliatingly long time it took. Being upright was at least a
relief, her body didn't feel so utterly weightless this
way..."You...who are you?"
With arms limp at her side, her legs equally so, Eri looked
definitely worse for the wear almost as if she were ill. There
were bags under her eyes, her skin was even more pale than
usual, and her hair was drenched and in disarray as if to follow
the example of her clothing. "I've seen you before...I think..."
She closed her eyes as if in pain for a moment, attempting to
force her groggy mind into action. "I've seen..." Then all at
once, it hit her. Between the remembrance of her homeworld's
slaughter, the death of a sister she barely got to know, and the
sudden forced teleportation...and the remembrance of a frame
similar, yet not exactly his. "Ghh...Razor??"

Xamphere let out a sigh in regards to her first question. Their
location unknown to even him. Having merely detect a disturbance
in his own powers. Something was wrong with the world she
resided in. He could feel it, even if it did not affect him
nearly as strongly as them. "I don't know exactly where we are
to be honest.. But, you're on earth if that helps.." He spoke
plainly as she had finished her words: hearing her guess. Razor?
From most he would have felt an anger towards the comparison,
but, he could only kindly smile to her. Slowly walking over to
kneel by her. "Well, not really, but, your close... Though I do
have the feeling he's watching..." his voice was kind but his
words made him look around. Razor only muttering in the far
distance. "Why is she here....?"
Though Xamphere had snapped himself from the glance to turn back
to her. "I don't blame you if you don't recognize me... Or even
remember me..." His words had a sadened feel to them though his
voice remind kind and upbeat. "My name is Xam.. Xamphere. I'm...
Well..." He reached his hand up to the back of his head: raking
his fingers through his hair. "I'm sorta made from you." His
closed his eyes as he smiled to her: attempting to ignore the
awkwardness of the very situation. He had no idea how to react
to a mother. Or even a father for the matter.

With tired eyes she looked upon the familiar face. It was true
what he said, he definitely wasn't Razor and she jogged her
memory for why he looked so familiar...but then it hit her,
she'd remembered meeting this man...well, boy by her standards,
a long long long time ago. The white haired boy with an angry
and almost hateful gaze who'd spitefully called her his mother
was a changed person now, she could tell in his behaviors and
even the lesser intensity of his gaze. "Ah.." Her hands were
slow to move, pausing in between the movements as she went to
cup his cheeks, her sleepy expression breaking into an even more
tired smile as she rejoiced despite her exhaustion. "I remember
you now. You're my son." Her head tilted slowly downwards as she
briefly drifted off for just a moment, only to start awake,
dropping her hands lightly as she murmured softly. "I'm sorry
you have to see me in such a state...the amount of time between
our world's is so vast...I've been asleep for so long, my body
doesn't remember what it feels like to be awake." Her
sentimentality was always legendary about her and she felt
herself sniffling lightly with soft pricks of tears forming in
the corners of her eyes. "I can't believe I got to see you
again, I've been such a poor mother..."

Xamphere smiled down to her, almost bittersweet, to her words.
It had pained himself to dub him the son of any. As if it was
mocking his true existence. Though he couldn't help the smile
that was played across his lips. slipping his hand over hers
before it had fallen from his cheek. Looking down for a moment
to gather his thoughts. what could have caused this? "Yeah, I
guess I am..." He spoke in words that did not believe themself.
a lie slashing with his core. His priorities allowing a little
lie here and there. "You were never given the chance... He saw
to that. I had to become strong... Love does not foster strength
so easily." He gave her that bittersweet smile before reaching
down to grab her hand with a gentle touch.
"Though, that is past. The real question is... Why are you
here..? I though you were in another world?" His expression
changing to that of curiosity. Quickly shifting is weight to
plump down against the cabin next to her. "You are very weak and
I feel strange... As ifsomething important has been lost."
Speaking of an inescapable sense of distress or loss. a
heartbreak with no cause nor explanation. "Did something
happen?" He spoke as he looked out towards the waters shine.

"I don't...I don't really know." The way she spoke, the haunted
look in her eyes, Eri herself couldn't even believe all the
events that had happened. "My home...well, my plane, the Lunar
plane." She closed her eyes in pain at the realization that she
couldn't even call it her home when she hadn't even originated
there in the first place. "There was..um...there was..." Eri
rubbed at her head lightly with one hand, the other one shaking
slightly in the hand of Xamphere's. "They're all dead...All of
them. There's no way they'd let them live..." Her hand dropped
lightly and she sighed heavily as if the burden of even telling
the story was crushing her, the entire encounter playing out
through her lips in a quiet and monotone voice as if she was
shutting down bit by bit. "I'd never seen creatures like them
before...they're from the dark side of our planes. Just like the
moon, there's two of our plane...I suppose. I hadn't even
known..."
Her head dropped and for a moment it seemed as if she'd fallen
asleep once more, but she spoke softly and quietly while looking
at her bare knees that peeked from the bottom of her dress, as
if trying to figure out if this was even really her life she was
living. "They attacked, they killed so many of my people...they
killed my sister, I..I don't know where my father is, but
somehow someone got me out." And with a tone of bitter
loneliness, she spoke her last words. "I'm the last one left for
all I know...those creatures, the Dark side of the
moon...they're going to take it all over. Every moon of every
universe, of every galaxy...A permanent lunar eclipse..."

"So give up.... That's your only option?" Razor's voice broke
through before Xamphere even had a chance. His body silently
leaned against the cabin only to pull away from it. Walking over
into the light. His form much younger: appearing to be in his
earlh twenties. His hair much shorter than before. Though, the
most noticable of the difference; his shimmering blue eyes. His
arms crossed over his chest as he watched the two before him. A
more humorous person could call it a family. Xamphere glaring to
him before lookingback to Eri. "As much as I hate to say it....
He's right. Is there any way to get back to your world? Maybe I
can...." Razor only interrupting with an obnoxious cough. Only
to speak plainly. "You intend to take on a world of dark gods by
yourself... Well I guess the ego doesnt fall far from the tree."
Xamphere only letting out a groan: attempting to ignore his
"father" to no avail. "... What I meant was maybe we could look
for survivors. There has to be something."
Now Razor had grown quiet; turning away from them to walk to the
water line. Kneeling down as he placed his hand into the water.
Silently moving the water and breaking the waves with his hand.
He had seen Eri's entrance to this world and it seemed to be a
perminant one. Though, he was no expert. Only an observer.
Xamphere on the other hand had a blind hope to help her: even
meet what could be called his ancestors. Xamphere looked over
her once more; seeing the life falling from her. He could only
try and keep her comfortable. Slowly reaching down and picking
her up once more. "Ill take you to my home... we can talk
there." His priorities now being realized. The hopes for
ancestry had to be put aside. Looking to Razor before moving
away from the area. Letting out a sigh as he spoke in
resentment. "Let's go."
With that two white wings outsretched from Xams back. Launching
into the air with blinding speed: holding her tightly in his
arms. "Ill catch up..." Razor speaking as he turned to watch
Xampheres dismount. Moments later Xamphere speeding onto the
earth of a mostly destroyed little village. Children scatter
through the village as they watch Xamphere and the woman enter a
free cottage. Laying her down on the bed as Razor walked in.
Several little heads poking through the doorway to tbe cottage.
Xamphere looking down to her. "I am sorry. It is not much. I am
mostly never home..." Razor slowly sitting in an empty chair at
the foot of her bed. Leaning back in the chair as he rocked
himself with his legs. His eyes focused on the children peeking
tbrough.

Her small frame jumped slightly at the sound of an all too
familiar voice, a faint lead weight dropping in her stomach as
she felt both a soft loathing for him and his words. Eri's last
memories of Razor weren't exactly favorable and it didn't help
that the biggest injustice he'd done to her was holding her hand
at the same moment. "You have no right to talk about me or my
affairs..." As Xamphere picked her up, Eri let out a soft and
quiet sigh at the strange hopefulness these two seemed to
possess together...it was heavily odd and incredibly
dysfunctional, but that was what they indeed seemed to be at the
time. A messed, dysfunctional family. With her small body slowly
relaxing as air whistled through her ears with the initial take
off, Eri felt herself doze momentarily before jolting awake once
again, slightly more aware than before as she found herself now
on a bed instead of the sand of the beach.
Sitting up for her had to be the most pathetic experience she'd
have to show all the eyes watching her from both the room and
the doorway. Her limbs were shaky and threatened to give out,
her muscles were completely unused and useless for...who knows
how long. Time passed so differently in both her world and the
dimension of travel. While she may have only been gone a few
decades here, it could have easily been centuries in her
world..."Ghh..." She somehow managed to sit up on her knees, her
hands slowly pushing away her white hair from her face, the
fresh sea salt smell still vivid on her scent as she looked
around the small, but homey cabin. "Ah...you are busy often?
Do...do you eat well? How about sleep?" Eri worried needlessly
as she grudgingly tried to move her body to allow her legs to
fall over the bed, leftover stand still clinging to her pale
skin as she let out a long and tired breath. "The portal that
connects our two realms is completely severed...I feel no
connection to it whatsoever from here. But...judging from how
you behave, your moon has not yet eclipsed over." As she spoke,
she lightly began to pat off her legs, stopping for just a
moment to pull her legs back up and wrap her arms around them,
looking infinitely small. "With how time passed...there's no
possibility of any of them being alive. Those...things, they
killed everything on sight. They enjoyed it, spilling the blood
of my people...spilling the blood of my only family." With a
small wince she looked to Xamphere apologetically as she hastily
spoke. "Well, only family there..." It was with her apologetic
gaze that she slowly saw the children at the door frame, tilting
her head softly at their appearances while making a point to
ignore Razor as fully as possible as he was in the way. "Are
those...children? Why are there so many of them?"

As Razor rocked in his chair he looked over to Xamphere:
measuring his reaction as he heard of Eri's "only family." She
could correct herself all she had wanted but the words were said
nonetheless. Even Razor could feel a little twinge of
disappointment. Xamphere giving no reaction to the words despite
the pain he had felt. He did not want to make her feel worse
than she already had. Though at the mention of the children
Razor's chair legs hit the floor with a loud thud. Slowly rising
from the chair as Xamphere turned to watch him walk towards the
door. Razor muttering as he shooed the children: following them
out. "Get lost. Little rats." Once he was gone from the room he
had pulled out a pack of cigarettes. Pulling one out and
slipping it between his lips. The stick lighting itself as Razor
let out a sigh of smoke. Xamphere sighing in return as he looked
to Eri. "Yeah... Um..." He scratched the backof his head:
thinking of how to phrase it.
He finally looked down as he spoke once more. "Their parents are
dead and they are physically immortal... they dont age body wise
but mentally they do.... This was caused when Razor made me....
The children able to adapt but the parents werent so lucky...."
He kept his eyes from her own. Letting out a bit of a chuckle:
trying not to think too hard into it. "... so, I take care of
them. .. well... watch over them." He looked back up with a
bittersweet smile. His creation had destroyed the lives of many
to save a few. The very thought of it chilling him to the bone.
Even Razor, leaned up against the cabin, looking down to a
little girl. Unlike the rest: the little girl too young to
remember what Razor had done. The girl only staring at him.
".... beat it kid." He spoke blunty: not wishing to see their
faces.
