Hera was surprised to see the blush scatter across his cheeks.
It made her smile as they walked and conversed with only the
stars above as their witness. Upon hearing his compliment, she
       laughed.
"I think you are the one being too kind, Sir," she chuckled.
She raised her eyebrows at what he had said abd stopped walking
       to meet his gaze directly.
"If you're a prince, then why waste your time here?" she asked.
"Surely, you have beater accommodations back where you live than
what the earth can give you."
Hera barely uttered the question when they were abruptly
interrupted by four of the king's guards. The tallest one with a
       black beard chuckled at Hera.
"Your father is searching for you, as usual," he said, peeling
his eyes from her to look at the man guiding her. "Your father
will not be pleased to see you with a peasant again."
Her hand fell away from Kevin and all of the color drained from
her face. Clearly, what the guard had said had struck a chord.
"He is not a peasant," she countered. "And who I visit with is
none of my father's business, is it?"
The guard sighed under the scrutiny of her gaze.
"Just this once, Hera, but don't let your father know what I did
for you," he said, glancing at Kevin again before passing on
       with the other guards.
She trembled in spite of the warm night. "I hate that word,
       'peasant'."
Hera gazed towards the palace. "No one should be valued higher
       than another."

He looked up at the stars as she did, listening to her speak.
Her question brought a small smile to him lips and his eyes
where only drawn from the sky at the addition to an unknown
voice. He saw as the color drained from her face, his hand
touching hers for only a moment to let her know the mans words
did not offend. The man had no ill will in his words and from
what Kevin could tell he was of kind heart and level head. He
nodded to the group as they walked past leaving him with the
princess. He turned looking into her eyes with a smile so she
would know all is well. Parting his lips to answer her question.
"With your statement youve answered your own question. No one
person should be valued higher than any other. One of the reason
my fathers kingdom has survived so long in the harshness of
endless winter is because his bloodline has bor some if the
strongest warriors the world has ever known."
The way he reffered to bloodline made it seam as though it were
seperate from his own, something someone with any firm knowledge
       of speach would pick up.
"The earth is home enough for any other man without the luxuries
of a nobel family, so for me it is more than graciouse a hostess
to me. As a warrior of high calibur I find it is my duty to seek
out those that may be in my need. No man is below my stature or
my assistance, As I would hope they do not assume me if I were
       in need."

"But you are strong," she said, missing the disconnection. "The
endless winter thing sounds... well, it sounds depressing
honestly. Is there a curse over your land?"
Hera was not a superstitious woman, but she was aware of other
beliefs and she knew there was outside forces even if she chose
to ignore their existence half of the time. Her hand tucked
under his arm, her fingers holding on gently as they walked.
"That is very noble of you," she replied, her voice barely an
       audible whisper as she thought.
Could she trust him with her plan? No one else knew of her plan
outside of those loyal to her.
"I'm engaged to be married," she said, avoiding his gaze. "It's
an arranged marriage. But, I intend on not going through with
       it."
Hera waited to weigh his reaction before telling him any more of
her plans. While she waited, Hera bit at her lower lip, a
habitual expression that conveyed nervousness and deep thought.

He nodded slightly as she imagined and endless winter into
       words.
"For most the thoughts of and endless winter would be just that.
But the men and women of the yamato bloodline are..for lack of
better wording cold blooded. They developed a strange magic long
ago to combat the dragons that also laid claim to the moutain.
Ice is as much a part of them as it is part of the moutain. As a
Lunaris Im fortunate enough to be hot blooded witch keeps me
       warm in the cold weather."
He only shook his head lightly at the mention of a curse, twas
no curse simply high enough altitude to keep the land cold. Then
he frowned as she abruptly changed to mention of an arranged
marrage. His eyes softened in understanding and pitty as he
patted the hand that held her arm.
"Ive never liked arranged marrages. Tis not the responsibility
of the father to determine the offsprings destiny. Destiny is to
be sought, not layed before you in an unwilling matter. Tis not
fair to force someone to share hands with anyone, especially
when it can end up being someone we have no taste for."
He tried not to let it be noticed that the idea bothered him far
more than his words could elaborate. For an arranged marrage
stole hope from not only one, but two. It stole away a mans
chance to find his true love, and a women hers to do the same.
And though he was not forward enough to say, he was enjoying her
company far more than he had anyone elses, and the chance to
explore that further seemed to be stolen from him before it was
even his to be taken from.

She tried to imagine an endless winter, but failed. No wonder he
had chosen the route he had taken away from his kingdom and
family. She wondered what his family though of his absence and
if they missed him at all.
Feeling as though she had pried enough, she let the subject
subside, even though she still pondered on it.
She smiled at his words, but the smile was dark and sinister,
       deprived of any happiness.
"If only it was merely my life he was messing with," she
       murmured.
Dark green eyes swirled into dark canvases of grey as she looked
over the stars. Her father didn't care for his daughter's life.
It was easier controlling people when his bloodline was strong.
"My father," she starts, then looks around to make sure no one
was eavesdropping. "My father is marrying me off to a king from
the north whose wife died suddenly last winter. With the union,
my father will be able to use their armies to invade the
       surrounding countryside and kingdoms."
She sighs and shakes her head.
"I don't intend on letting him do this. I know he will spill
whatever blood he has to. He doesn't know that I know, but I
have my own spies within the castle," she said.
Her eyes meet his, hoping Kevin will prove to be a trustworthy
man as he seems to be.

He frowned at her words and his eyes dimmed slowly. He shared a
troubled glance with her and unhooked his arm from her hand. He
knelt slowly looking to make sure there were no prying eyes to
report what was happening back to her father.
"What you have told me could mean not only trouble for the
kingdoms near, but also those far out of normal reach. Seems I
may have found the place Im needed, so from the shadows Ill be
at your service princess, you need only call and I will be at
your side." He took her hand and kissed above her knuckles
softly to show his service then bowed his head, not to show he
though himself a servant, but that he trusted her enough to
leave himself open to attack. Trusting she would understand the
       gesture.

When he let go of her arm, Hera looked at him in fear that he
withdrew because he was appalled by what was happening and would
choose to leave. Instead, he knelt down. His words brought a
smile to her lips and the smile only grew, causing dimples to
appear in her cheeks, as he kissed her hand. Hera copied his
stance knelt down in front of him.
       "Thank you," she said
The princess wrapped her arms around his neck suddenly before he
could object and hugged him. She knew of the risks he was
willing to take by accepting helping her. It was more than she
       could ever repay.
The trumpets from the castle sounded, interrupting her embrace.
       Hera stood, frowning.
"I better go," she said. "Tomorrow we will talk more. "
The princess gave him one last smile before running towards the
castle Gates and vanishing from sight as she entered them.

He smiled and returned the embrace. Hugging her tight before the
trumpets sounded. He stood as she did and watched her run back
to the castle. A small from playing on his lips as he pulled his
hood up. He watched untill she was gone from sight and turned to
find a nice tree to lay under and look at the stars. He spoke to
himself as he turned to walk away. Sure at this point she would
be to far away to hear.
"Time is a cruel mistress, when our tasks are unpleasant it
seems far to slow to handle. But when we find ourselves in the
company of one truley pleasant, its almost as if time is stolen
from us. The course of a day going by in the blink of an eye.
Till we meet again fair princess."
He layed under a cherry blossom tree in an open feild. Eyes on
the stars but his thoughts on the lovely women he had the
pleasure of sharing his company with for the day.

       Morning.
The dining area was trashed. Lords and Ladies evidently had a
great, drunken time. Silently, she stepped over the mess and
made her way out the back.
Hera made her way down the countryside, enjoying the sun on the
bare of her neck. It would be a lie to say that she wasn't
keeping an eye open for Kevin. It was still early enough that he
may still be asleep and also she hadn't a clue where he would
       be.
After several minutes of walking, the princess sat beneath a
cherry tree and leaned back against it, watching the clouds
       above her.

The sound of quiet breathing came from the other side of the
tree she had sat under. His hood drawn over his face and cloak
wraped tightly around his body. He had slep the night under the
stars as he had done so many nights before. Though most would
find this odd he looked quiet content with himself. A smile on
his lips that peeked out from under his hood. He did not wake
but begand to rustle under his cloak. Signes that he would soon
wake on his own if not woken by someone.
