Reach Out & Touch the Moon
By: Evil Kitty Date: December 4, 2014, 8:05 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
The Sun was falling again; the light of day slowly dying down.
Xamphere always loved this time of the day. The idea of seeing
the moon seemed to always revitalize him in every way. His mind
raced; sharpened. His body loosened and became so much stronger.
It simply freed him from the daily restraint of his normal,
boring, life. Though, he never knew quite why his body and mind
work like this. It was as if he was one with the moon. As if his
body was at it's highest peak as the moon did just the same.
Though, these powers may have scared him, being so dependent on
the majestic sphere, he sought to bring these powers out. To
maintain these powers; keeping control of them even within the
heat of the Sun. His mind stewed over this very idea for what
seemed like ages only for his mind to get caught by a man's
voice. "Shop's closing up, son. You don't have to go home, but,
you can't stay here. So, finish your food and sciddadle."
With that Xamphere's wandering mind was brought to a bit of
irritation; glaring over to the man with an annoyed glance.
Taking the last few spoon fulls of his chicken noodle soup as he
set it down on the table. Letting out a huff to the man as he
wiped his mouth on a napkin. His voice irritated and cocky. "You
sure do need to work on your manners, friend. Wasn't it
customers always right?"
The man quickly scoffed as Xamphere flashed him a grin. He
quickly made his way out from the table as he walked out of the
small resturaunt. With his back facing the door he scanned
around to watch as the children played in the streets of the
small town. They were innocent; unworthy of his distaste.
Though, he knew one day they would be. They were only human,
after all.
He finally started walking away from the resteraunt as he made
his way down the side of the roadway. Where would he possibly
find information about himself? About the moon and the powers
that circle around it? He had no idea, but, he had to start
somewhere. But, just as these thoughts crossed his mind the
raspy tone of an old woman broke out into the open air. "You
carry the goddess of the moon on you shoulders, do you not,
young warrior?"
With that Xamphere's interest was immediately caught by
surprise. Turning his head to face an old woman sitting in front
of a raggety, pitched, tent. Her eyes covered with a thick black
fabric. Xamphere slowly walking over to her as he knelt down in
front of the short, seated, woman. "What do you mean?"
The woman let out a laugh as she brought her hand out; clutched
Xamphere's gloved hand. Slowly pulling the glove off as she ran
her fingers over his palms with a smile played over her lips.
"You seek the true meaning to these powers you possess, but, I
must warn you... You will find many perils on this journey and
meet many a strange characters. Be warry; and do not stray from
this path. Howl out to the moon until you are stripped of your
very breath... Only then will she embrace your love."
Xamphere let out a growl as he pulled his hand away; immediately
standing up. He looked down onto the elderly woman as he spoke
in an angered tone. "What do you know? You are just a human."
With that he made his way down the road once more; the woman
calling out to him as he ignored. "We will meet again, child of
the Eclipse!" With that he simply scoffed and continued further;
trying his hardest to ignore all of which she had just said to
him. Though, he couldn't help the burning sensation in his gut.
Telling him she was right.
