       Eggs and Bakey.
The wild look in his eyes didn’t go unnoticed, though the mocha
skinned woman decided not to press him on the matter. Despite
sleeping soundly through the night, she had no dreams.
Exhaustion clung to her the second she got comfortable against
him and drug her under. Though, from the look of it, Clark had a
very wild dream. Autumn offered him a soft smile in an attempt
to comfort him, refraining from any sort of physical contact -
no need to frighten a panicked lion.
Tossing his troubled dreamscape aside, Autumn shot to her feet
and offered a hand to help him up. Pink lips pouted at his
initial decline, but he eventually accepted causing her to break
out into another bright smile. “Thank you.” Her gentle voice
said as she stepped back to give him room. “I don’t care what
you do to them, I really want pancakes!” As childish as it was,
       pancakes were her favorite food.
Autumn followed him over to the kitchen, a soft blush coating
her arched cheeks. “I was going to surprise you with
breakfast..” She admitted bashfully, scratching idly at her
collarbone. “But then I figured since you are a chef, you’re
probably a better cook than I am. I’d probably burn the bacon..”
The blush proceeded to darken at her admittance to having little
to no culinary skills; at least Clark was there to make up for
       her ignorance.
       Delicious.
After seating herself on the counter nearest the stove but far
enough away so as to not get caught by popping grease, Autumn
watched Clark get everything ready. The marble countertops were
cold against her bare thighs, causing goosebumps to rise along
her soft mocha skin. Biting her lip, brown eyes watched the man
cook; watched the way the muscles in his arms rippled as he
stirred, the cute furrow of his brows as he concentrated on
doing things the way they should. Autumn soon realized it wasn’t
his skill that made his food taste so good, but the heart and
passion he put into every little detail. It would be insulting
to say his food was delicious, because the man who made it was
equally as appetizing - though she would never admit that to
       him.
       Purge.
She tore her eyes away from his delectable body, finding her
gaze glued to his muscles more than not, and slipped off the
counter. Autumn was seated at the dining room table just off of
the kitchen where Clark was. A pristine white laptop lay on the
beautiful glass table - work always had to be done. It sat there
from the previous day, so she busied herself while she wait for
       him to bring their food.
When Clark walked in with the plates she closed the device and
set it aside for some other time, turning her attention onto the
still shirtless man who carried two beautifully prepared plates.
“Looks yummy..” She said in a soft voice, smiling at him in
gratitude as she picked up a fork and cut off a small piece of
       pancake to sample.
It was just as delicious as it looked - ten times more flavorful
than the ones she ordered every day at Sally’s, though those
ordinary pancakes would always be her favorite. Clark was her
       favorite chef.
“So,” She began, chocolatey brown eyes turning towards the
muscular man with a teasing light. “When do you plan on coming
around for dinner? Or should I go to your place instead?” His
previous offer of making dinner didn’t go ignored. Autumn held
eye contact for a few more seconds before standing and making
her way to the kitchen. “Do you want any juice? Orange? Apple?
Water? I’ll even make you a glass of chocolate milk if you ask
nicely.” She said as she stretched onto her tiptoes to reach an
overhead cupboard, pulling out two clear glasses. For herself
she grabbed the orange juice from the refrigerator, waiting with
the door propped open on her hip for Clark to give her his order
before grabbing the desired beverage and filling the other glass
       with it.

"Really?" Clark asked with a quick chuckle. "No one's ever made
-me- breakfast before! I should have stayed asleep!" Despite his
words, he took command of the kitchen just the same. I'm not a
chef though. That requires certification. I'm just a lowly
cook." He said it as if he were sad, but his body language
communicated that he was actually content with his place in the
culinary world. Of course, he dreamed of being a chef all the
time. But dreams like that don't come true for guys like him...
Clark tried not to focus on the eyes that were fixated on him as
he prepared breakfast, but he couldn't help but feel them
burning into his flesh, heating his muscles as they worked to
prepare their breakfast. He couldn't help but think back to
their conversation the night before; The one about having
crushes on each other. This brought a slight smile to the man's
face as he worked the stove; One that he didn't even notice.
As they sat down to eat, Clark pondered the woman's question. He
needed to buy a car. He didn't want any situations like the
night before to happen again. "What do you want for dinner?" He
asked. What she requested determined how long it would take to
make it, and when would be a good time to have her. "Well I have
a couple errands to run today." He told her, trying to figure
out if there was anything else he needed to do, or if his place
was suitable for her company. "I'll pick you up and you can come
to my place for dinner." She then asked if he wanted anything to
drink. "I'll have whatever you're having." He said calmly,
taking a bite of his Bacon. Ironically enough, he wasn't much of
a breakfast person. But he worked his way through his plate just
the same, He had to admit. If he could make breakfast like this
every day, he would probably eat it more often. "So what do you
have planned today?" He asked, as his plate was nearing it's
end. He hadn't even left yet, and he was already excited about
       seeing her again.

[I didn't read through my last few posts, so if things don't
       really line up I apologize.]
Autumn glanced at Clark when he asked what she would like for
dinner. Teeth chewed on her lips in thought as she set the
glasses on the counter and filled them with orange juice, his
completely full and hers just under half full. It was a habit.
As a kid Autumn wanted the most; the biggest slice of cake, the
cup with the most milkshake in it, the donut with the most
frosting on it. She soon came to realize that more wasn’t always
better – and that she probably wouldn’t finish it anyways. There
was no point in wasting it.
She took a sip from her glass as she carried his over to him,
hand unconsciously running over his shoulder as she pulled away
to go back to her seat, the thought about what to have for
dinner still rolling around in her head. A knee was brought up
to her chest, the other dangling off the seat. With the glass
of orange juice sat on the table and the fork now resuming its
position in her hand, Autumn looked to Clark once more, still
       utterly undecided.
“I’m sure you know how to make something amazing – other than
pancakes of course. So just make that.” Autumn really wasn’t a
picky eater. Food was food, she’d eat whatever meal he placed in
front of her – of reasonable flavors. There was no way in hell
she’d chow down on a cow tongue, or something of the like,
though she had faith that Clark didn’t particularly like cow
       tongue either.
Her plate was almost empty, orange juice just under half way
gone, which she lowered even more as she took up the glass and
placed it to her lips for a generous sip as she pondered his
question. What did she have planned for the day?
Thoughts of the passed night came flooding back full force,
always lurking behind the wall she tried so hard to erect. She
immediately became uncomfortable; skin was crawling, anxious
feeling filling her stomach, making the last of her plate
completely inedible. But she played it off. Autumn forced
herself to smile as naturally as possible, giving him what she
       thought was – hopefully – a cute shrug. “I don’t know..” Going
back to work was out of the question – which reminded her, she
still had to call in. But she also knew she wasn’t ready to
leave her apartment just yet. Autumn didn’t feel safe. She
couldn’t defend herself against a fly, let alone a hulking man
trying to grab at her ass.
Glazed over chocolate eyes refocused on Clark’s face, reality
finally coming back to her. Once more Autumn smiled at him, this
time giggling as well in an attempt to make her zone-out appear
completely nonchalant and girly. “Probably just a lazy day. Last
night was… filled with action. I think I deserve a break.”
Another chuckle, but she knew she slipped. Clark was very
observant. He probably saw right through her façade. But that
didn’t matter, she wasn’t going to give him the option to
question it. She grabbed her dishes, taking them to the sink
where she dumped out the last of her orange juice and emptied
her leftover food into the trash before going back to take
Clark’s empty dishes. “What about you?” She asked politely,
       flashing him another forced smile.

(Only thing I noticed is I think she was already off today
       because it's sunday)3
Autumn's indecision didn't surprise Clark. In fact, he found
amusement in it, chuckling to himself as she tried to come to a
decision about what to eat, only to leave the decision to him in
the end. He worked at his food as he thought about what foods he
had in his kitchen, and what he could make with them without
having to go to the store. It didn't take long for him to come
to a decision, and he nodded his head. "Alright." He said, once
       the decision was solidified.
Naturally Clark noticed when Autumn's demeanor changed. She
suddenly seemed very self-conscious and uncomfortable. He
imagined remnants from the night before were bothering her all
along, much like the pain in his ribs that he had been pushing
through as not to worry her. Surely enough, she confirmed his
suspicions with her words about the night before, and how she
"deserved" a break. It was true. She shoudlnd't have to do
       anything she didn't want to.
"You don't have to pretend everything's alright." He told her.
"I have a couple errands to run, but other than that, I'm free."
Looking at her, he could tell the outside world wasn't a part of
ehr plan. "I'd invite you to come along, but I think you should
get some rest. You barely slept at all... So how about I pick
you up before dinner?" his eyes carried the question as well as
his words, searching her for the answer to the deeper problem.

“Sure, that sounds fine,” She said as she placed his dishes on
the counter, back turned to him. Her hands rest on the quartz
countertop, shaking. Her fear was undeniable; it was impossible
to get over what happened so easily, and no matter how hard she
tried, she couldn’t. Clark felt safe – the mysterious fighter
who went out of his way to protect her for some unknown reason.
But that was all it took for her to trust him more than anyone
else in her life right now.
Without thinking she padded her way over to him, grabbed his arm
to pull him to his feet, and wrapped her arms around his middle,
burying her face into his chest. After all she’s tried to seem
unaffected, his words managed to break her down. Autumn didn’t
cry, but she held him tight as if she were afraid of him leaving
her – and she was. After a few moments she pulled away, brows
furrowed and eyes unable to look up into his. “Is it,” A pause
as she went back to the sink, back facing him, “Is it okay to be
       scared?”

Clark’s muscles tightened when Autumn hugged him. It wasn’t out
of surprise, but bracing himself for the pain that came along
with her squeezing around his bruised ribs. Other than that,
however, he showed no signs of pain. He just wrapped his arms
around the woman in a protective embrace, and held her as close
as he could. When she stepped away, his eyes met with hers as he
listened to her question, and he slowly shook his head. “You
don’t have to be afraid.” He told her. He wouldn’t let anything
or anyone hurt her. “But it’s ok to be.”
Clark had no idea what had provoked him to take Autumn under his
protective wing. Well, obviously he wasn’t just going to let a
man take advantage of her like that, even if he –didn’t- like
her at the time. But beyond that. Ensuring her safety leaving
the mansion, walking her home, spending the night with her
resting on his chest. He had no explanation for it. But that was
his reality. He was Autumn’s protector. If anything else would
come of it, he was still unsure. But at the very least, she
       would be around this way…
“Give me your phone.” He said calmly, holding his hand out.
Once he had the device, he programmed his number into it. “Call
me. Text me. Whatever you need to do. I’ll talk to you the whole
time I’m gone if you need me to.” The look on his expression
said he was telling the truth. He hated to leave her, but he
really did have things to do, and he didn’t want to overextend
his welcome. “I’ll pick you up around six o’ clock.” Truth be
told, he wanted to kiss her. But that wasn’t a part of their
contract. “See you later.” He said, before making his way out
the door. It was a long walk to where he had to go…

His response made her visibly relax; shoulders went lax, the
breath she didn’t know she was holding left her lungs in a soft
‘whoosh’. Autumn rested her hands on the countertops, palms flat
against the cool surface. She was grateful for all he’s done for
her, and he would be repaid. She wasn’t going to forget about
him, ever, even if they eventually went their separate ways –
something she secretly hoped would never happen.
She straightened up at his orders, mindlessly making her way
back over to the table where her phone sat and placing it in his
waiting hand. It was then her eyes finally made contact with
his, brown orbs wide with the utmost trust as she hung on every
word he said. The only response she could muster was a nod of
her head, eyes following his form as he left.
Autumn held onto her phone with an iron fist, keeping it on her
person as she made her way back to the couch where they had
spent the night together. The warmth was gone, but it still felt
like he was there – it smelled like he was there. The scent of
his cologne clung to the couch pillows like a desperate lover,
and Autumn clung to those just as desperately, phone still in
hand as she resisted all urge to call him. He had only just
left, it would be weird. Minutes ticked by slowly, and with each
second that passed the more her eyelids grew heavy. It was only
ten minutes after Clark left that she fell into a deep sleep,
phone slipping out of her hand and in between the cushions.

Clark checked his phone as he left Autumn's building. His
battery was at 52%. He hoped that would last him until he got
home. A phone charger wasn't something you could usually find
in his bag. It wasn't like he normally had sleepovers. He
looked at the bag that was draped over his shoulder. It may not
have had a charger in it, but it had everything else he needed.
Specifically, his winnings from the night before; 3500 dollars
       in cash.
His first mission for the day was to buy a car. His plan was to
go to a used car lot he always saw near his apartment, but
along the way he passed one that her must have overlooked while
walking Autumn home the night before. Krazy Kevin Powells.
Normally he wouldn't even give it a thought, but he remembered
       Bea mentioning the place.  She said Kevin was a trustworthy guy;
that he gave her a great deal on a used car in great condition.
He didn't give it much thought at the time because he didn't
know where the place was, but since he had stumbled onto it,
he decided to check it out!
Kevin was a rambunctious guy. He wore a loud stars and stripes
suit and talked in a loud , overdramatic voice, but he was very
attentive. He listened to Clark's needs and showed him several
options before trying to push anything on him. Throughout the
process, Clark was constantly checking his phone, trying to be
sure Autumn hadn't tried to contact him. He eventually decided
on a black, 2007 Nissan Maxima, which was going for 3200.
Kevin began explaining his financing options, but Clark stopped
him, explaining that he wanted to pay cash. 20 minutes later,
he was driving off the lot and heading uptown.
Next thing on the list was finding a new circuit. There were a
few places he could try, but the first was definitely
Fireball's he had an incredibly popular circle, with heavy
revenue and was well hidden from the public eye. But most
importantly, he was a big rival to Blackjack! It was the ideal
situation. Fireball operated out of a small Sweepstakes office
during business hours. He lived in a modest one bedroom house
and drove a junker that you would expect to fall apart at any
moment. No one would expect him to be one of the heaviest
       hustlers in the north!
Fireball recognized the infamous "Blaze" as soon as he walked
through the door. "Well if it isn't Blackjack's boy!" Fireball
was the least intimidating guy in the world to look at. No more
than 5'6," he wore an obvious toupee, and smoked cheap cigars.
But anyone smart knew not to cross him. And the last thing
Clatk needed was to arouse any suspicion that he meant any sort
       of sabatoge.
"Not anymore." He said confidently. "I'm not a part of
Blackjack's circle anymore. Kind of left on a bad note. So i
came by to see if you had space for a champion in your
       circle..."
A grin spread across the ring leader's face. "Left on bad
terms, eh? What happened? In his mind, he was already thinking
of the revenue he could acquire taking in his rival's best
       fighter...
"Long story short a guy assaulted a woman after the show last
night and i broke his jaw. Blackjack is probably under full
       investigation as we speak."
Fireball ripped into uproarious laughter, and wiped an
imaginary tear from his eye. "Ooh, that's a knee slapper! " He
said. Before his face straightened. "You know, I already have a
champion. What makes you think I'd just -give- you his spot?"
"Give me an exhibition match against him. If i win, you can keep
my winnings, and i become your new head guy. " dollar signs
were flashing in Fireball's eyes and Clark knew he was in.
"You know how to talk business kid. You're on! Your match will
be Saturday night at 12. But this will be your only shot! "
Clark nodded his head and left. Checking his phone as he did so.
Only noon... still several hours before he had to pick Autumn
up. He figured he'd go home and get some sleep....

       Toss and turn.
Darkness engulfed her dreams. Grotesque caricatures of Blackjack
and his goons, and Garrett lurked behind every corner she turned
and every door she opened. The place was eerily similar to the
compound Clark’s fights were; the walls, floors, and doors
identical. Literally. Every corner she turned seemed to lead her
to a door that opened to another corridor that was exactly the
same as the last. The halls twisted and turned in a maze-like
manner, leading her further from safety and Clark and closer to
the danger of Blackjack and the others. It was never-ending. The
realization that the hall was the exact same as the last and
wouldn’t lead her anywhere new, and pursuing it with hopes that
       something would change. Insanity.
Her body curled and clenched with fear. Tossing and turning as
if trying to get away from the ominous danger she felt gripping
her spine, sending the one thing that could save her life
       further into the cushions.
       Dreamland.
Autumn woke with a start. Sweat dripped down her forehead and
soaked her shirt. Her hair was a mess and she could only hope
the bags under her eyes weren’t as bad as she knew they were.
Checking her phone she discovered she had three hours before
Clark would arrive, leaving her with enough time to prepare
       herself for the dinner.
A nice, steaming shower left her with silky soft legs and
bouncing curls. Forty minutes were spent scouring through her
closet for the perfect outfit, and once that was found she went
to the internet for makeup inspiration. Almost an hour was spent
searching through Pinterest and watching Youtube tutorials
before she realized her time to get ready was dwindling down
into the single digits. What started out with good intentions
turned into searching hot guys on Pinterest and watching
       adorable cat videos on Youtube.
Simple eye makeup, mascara, a small amount of eyeliner, and a
nice red lip was all she had time for before she heard a knock
on the door. The makeup was far plainer than she would’ve liked,
but it paired nicely with the floral print knee-length skirt and
baby blue blouse she wore in an attempt to seem dressed up but
not overly dressed for the occasion – she’d be lying if she said
Clark wasn’t attractive, it was instinct to try to get his
       attention and impress him.
Clark greeted her with a hug, muscled arms fitting around her
petite frame perfectly. And they stayed there. Minutes passed
and Autumn remained enveloped in his warm embrace. He made her
feel safe, what more could she ask for?
An hour soon passed. Sure, the hug got annoying after the first
minute or so, but Autumn couldn’t force herself to pull away.
The emotional trauma they both went through was intense, he
definitely needed time to gather himself just like she did, so
she gave him the time to do it. His arms tightened around her,
assuming it was another gentle squeeze he gifted her with every
so often, Autumn welcomed the embrace, a small smile forming on
her lips as her eyes fluttered shut.
The squeeze continued. Eyes snapped open in panic. His arms were
like pythons, slowly constricting around her body. It became
difficult to breathe. The danger of the situation registered in
her head but she couldn’t make her body move away. With great
effort she managed to turn her head up to his, any air she
could’ve taken into her burning lungs was snatched away with
       what she saw.
The symbol etched into his face could be seen on the door to
Blackjack’s compound, or posters on the wall advertising the
next fight, even the ring Clark was ever so familiar with. It
curved delicately around his face in the jagged strokes of a
knife, ruby red blood dripping in several places. Her body eyes
settled on a drop, watching it travel down his forehead, across
his strong brow, and settle in the pit where his eyes should be.
Everything clicked together. Without even looking she could tell
his mouth was sewn shut, his throat had been slashed, and his
       hands were cut off.
Autumn could finally move. Breath gathered in her lungs and left
in a blood curdling scream as she tried to fight her way out of
       his hold.
       Knock knock.
Autumn woke with a start. Sweat dripped down her forehead and
soaked her shirt. The knock sounded again, staccato against the
wood of her door. She bolted to her feet, not bothering to check
the time or think about who was behind the door. Clark, it had
to be Clark, she wanted it to be Clark. She whipped open the
door and was just about to throw herself in the arms of the
person before she realized who it was.
The smirk of the older man revealed pearly white teeth that were
so nice they had to be fake. Wrinkles settled at the corners of
his eyes as his lips twisted into a smile. If he wasn’t
intimidating, the men behind him surely were. Within seconds
they barged into her apartment, one holding her down as the
other covered her mouth with a rag. The smell was distinct and
it immediately clicked in her head, but the hold they had on her
was too strong, she couldn’t get away. As her body relaxed and
her mind began to slow, Autumn could faintly feel herself being
thrown over the shoulder of one of the men and an old, raspy
       voice.
       “That was easy.”

Most would find it strange that, when he slept with Autumn,
Clark's sleep was filed with nightmares. But when he napped
alone. His sleep was peaceful. Clark didn't find it strange at
all. No matter how he tried to fight it, there was something
very scary about letting someone in like that. He only managed
to sleep about three hours, but it was soothing just the same.
When he awoke, he got in the shower, once again more
comfortable than he had been the night before. No chance of
anyone walking in on him this time. The bathroom filled with
steam as he stood under the water for what seemed like ages,
thinking on everything. So he was starting a new chapter of his
life. How would it go? What role would Autumn play in it? The
sounds of trickling water filled the bathroom add completely add
the vapor, creating an almost dream-like environment, but bring
on a time limit, Clark snapped out of it, and got out in order
       to get dressed.
Dark blue jeans, and a black t shirt. It wasn't like this was a
date or anything, right? In all honesty, he didn't know. He
looked himself over in the mirror. He didn't look fancy. But he
looked good. It wasn't a muscle shirt, but it fit his body will
enough to give the viewer an idea of what was underneath.
Satisfied with his appearance, he grabbed his keys and headed
       out the door.
Driving it was only a twelve minute trip to Autumn's apartment.
As opposed to the hour and a half it would have taken him on
foot. Even after being unable to find a parking space and
having to park a few blocks down the street, it still landed
him there almost three hours early, which was a miracle all on
       it's own!
Just as Clark was walking toward the building, he caught sight
of Blackjack leaving in the other direction with two of his men
behind him. One had Autumn draped over his shoulder.
Most would call that the moment when Blaze was released; The
moment when fire and rage filled Clark's eyes, and he appeared
a completely different person. They were bold...and they would
pay for it. Before they knew he was there, a swift kick landed
in the free-handed goon's side. He quickly turned around only
for his face to meet with the most deadly punch he had ever
taken. In an instant he was on the ground. Before Blackjack
could go for the pistol he kept in his jacket pocket, Blaze had
caught him by the wrist, rotated around his shoulder and encased
his head with both arms, threatening to snap his neck. "Put her
down..." His voice was low and borderline sinister. The man
obeyed, placing Autumn on the ground.
"You'd go through all this to protect someone else's
girlfriend?" Blackjack called out. "That bitch interfered with
my business. You know the price of that!" Clark didn't respond.
Just tightened his grip upon hearing the word bitch." Blackjack
was a fool. All of this was his fault for agreeing to that
interview in the first place. But he would never listen to that
reason. "Razor! Break her! " the large man hesitated to move
       toward Autumn.
"Is her life worth yours?" Clark asked. He knew nothing was
more important to Blackjack than Blackjack. As he considered
his former champion's question, Razor took a step toward an
unconscious Autumn. "Stay back! " Blaze half yelled-half roared.
While his attention was in the muscle, blackjack foolishly
tried to reach for his gun. A kick to the back of his knee
caused the man to scream as the bone shattered. And a cop to the
back of his knee rendered him unconscious. The two strongmen
were sizing each other up when the siren s came. Five squad
cars arrived at once, responding to a call about a witness
setting three men carry a woman out of her apartment.
Half a dozen cops jumped out of their vehicles, weapons drawn,
and pointed at the two men who were still standing. Both men
surrendered, and dropped to their knees as chips came and put
       them in handcuffs.
Autumn would awaken just in time to see Clark being forced into
the back of a police car. The two unconscious men were loaded
into another car, and the one called Razor into a third. The
the drive off as an officer knelt down to Autumn. "Are you
alright? " he asked. "I know you've just been through a lot,
but we need to ask you some questions. Would you mind coming to
       the station with us? "
The ride to the station was silent. And even once they arrived,
she was left alone in a waiting room for several minutes while
the others were interrogated. Finally a police Captain entered
the room with a cup of water for her. "I'm sorry for the wait.
" he told her. "We were fact checking. It seems your boyfriend
saved you from the three men who tried to abduct you. We'd like
you to give us a statement though. Do you remember anything?
Anything that could help us in court? " he looked at her worth
hopeful eyes. Blackjack wasn't one who was easy to hold down...
