       A New Breed
By: Eshu Date: May 14, 2014, 1:02 pm

Humans are undergoing a mysterious change. 1 in every 1,000,000
children are being born with highly unusual brain wave patterns.
Of those children, less than a third survive a week. The ones
that do survive, are taken from their parents to special
"Observation Centers"The children are placed in Solitary
confinement. They're educated privately, and kept away from
human contact. It's been discovered that these unique girls and
boys all have extraordinary intelligence. Most of them also seem
to have developed some sort of "Special" abilities. But as a
result of their detainment, their social capabilities are
probably lacking, at best. One of the largest Observation
Centers is The Vartican Center, located in England. This is
where this story will take place. Detained children are given
reading materials, and three meals are delivered to their cells
each day. On this day, however, breakfast did not come. The
children would instead find that their doors were open, and all
of the Authority figures were no where to be found. What was
happening? How would they survive? The story starts here
I'm not going to put up a place for charry sheets. If you want
to provide background info on your charry, just post in in your
first post. Also, I want to avoid cliche elemental powers. I was
thinking something more along the lines of mental powers.
       Telekenesis, and things like that.

       Name; Calia
       Age: 15
Personality; Calia is the quiet type. She often comes across as
cold and calculating but that's usually because she chooses to
sit and observe instead of influence.
Appearance: Thin and tall with long silver hair. And grey eyes.
Her skin is pale from lack of sunlight throughout her
       detainment.
Ability: Calia is unusually aware when it comes to other people.
She's not able to read minds; it's more like being able to read
peoples auras, intentions and feelings. Her ability is likely
the cause of her quiet and observant personality. She also has
       some telepathic ability.
How long had it been since the doors had opened? Minutes? Hours?
Calia was unsure. Being locked away for so long gave her a
diminished concept of time. She didn't know what was on the out
side. In fact, she hadn't moved from her bed since the doors had
been unlocked. She felt fear and confusion oozing from the
outside, which gave her a natural aversion. But even she knew
that she couldn't stay in her cell forever. Breakfast hadn't
been delivered. The schedule had never been broken before. It
was safe to assume that if breakfast hadn't come, lunch probably
wouldn't come either. The only way to survive would be to leave
       and find sustenance for herself.
But the mass confusion outside was still a problem. Confusion
was often followed by aggression. It was probably best to avoid
the others. The silver haired girl kept low as she finally left
her cell, in search of the kitchen. She remembered the direction
that the footsteps always came from when she was fed, and headed
that way, trying to the best of her ability to avoid the other
kids who roamed the Hall randomly, hiding behind various objects
       as they passed by.

       Name Arista
       Age 7
Personality Arista is very chaotic she likes to get her way, and
when she doesn't you can hear her displeasure a few miles away,
But normally shes a happy cheerful girl.
Appearance: Short and very skinny, shoulder length blonde hair
her eyes are big and ocean blue and sometimes the turn fiery
red, her skin is apricot-ish color. her clothes are white and
light purple and tiny dancer shoes are laced up on her feet.
Abilities: She can talk telepathically to anyone who she touches
and has a bond with, also she can make any number of items
disappear and reappear in a different spot. Her loud mouth can
       cause natural disasters
Her eyes opened up to her door open and the lights outside
flickering, she heard the frantic footsteps and the other
children running around outside their rooms What happened she
thought as she got out of bed. She ran to the door and stood
watching everyone, her eyes darted between the kitchen and the
exit, she was starving and could go for whatever was in there,
but then again would she miss the opportunity of leaving.. Her
eyes welled up with tears and she plopped down on the ground,
she didn't know what else to do so she yelled "IM, SCARED AND
HUNGRY" her loud squeaky voice echoed off the walls and made the
room shake a bit, that outta get someones attention.

In the chaos, it seemed someone had dropped a Satchel in the
hallway. Calia lifted the bag and examined it. Empty...Dammit.
That wouldn't help at all! No. It would... She lifted the bag
onto her shoulder and followed the path she was on, avoiding
others as best she could. She made it to the kitchen, planning
to stock up on food to travel with, but was surprised not to
find many non-perishables. Those she did find were canned. She
needed to find a way to open them... It took quite a bit of
digging, but she finally found a hand held can opener. She
stuffed it into her bag just before hearing a group of kids
coming. She quickly hid herself away as they came in, searching
for food of their own. The fools were laughing and joking as
they grabbed bags of chips and snack foods that were only
offered on rare occassions. Idiots... They would never survive
on that! It didn't take long for them to leave, however. So
Calia filled her bag with canned foods and plastic forks until
she thought it may become difficult to carry, and began to
leave. She stopped at the door, however, turning back to grab a
few bags of chips to add to the top. Then she began her descent,
looking for the exit. It took her a while to find it, and she
soon found that the other kids didn't seem to bother her. She
was almost to the door when a loud, annoying voice began to
       shake the entire building!
The source was a small girl, clearly lost in the confusion like
everyone else. Scared and hungry... What made her think she was
the only one? Perhaps it was her young age... And what a
troublesome ability! It attracted too much attention. Calia
decided it best not to concern herself with the child, and
continued toward the door. But her consciousness got the best of
her just as she was about to leave. Reaching into her bag, she
pulled out a can of ravioli and opened it up, placing a fork in
it before placing it before the little girl. She then turned and
made her way toward the exit. No time to waste...

She wondered where the guards might have gone and under who's
authority did they have the right to open up all the doors. She
frowned and looked around a bit scared and uncomfortable, the
other children around her age were fighting over toys and
deciding to leave, She had a great idea she'd stay here until
the guards come back...No no thats wasn't a good idea at all,
maybe she could follow one of the older kids to at least the
next town. her eyes were tearing up again.
Then suddenly a girl dropped a can of soup in front of her,
Arista smiled up at the girl and ate it quickly she had little
smears of sause on her shirt when she stood up. She frowned at
the disappearance of the nice girl who gave her some soup. She
sighed and walked to the kitchen and stuffed her pockets with
candy and chips. she looked under the sink to find a large
chicken they ate this yesterday and it sure was good so arista
tore off a bunch of little pieces and went on her way. She
decided it was time to leave so she looked form the nearest exit
       and started on her journey.

Locked in her cell; dark and alone for a few years now. Shion
almost gave up hope, until she had heard the latch unlock and
       her gate open. The disheveled look of the 17 year old girl;
blindfolded turned her head upward toward the door. She tilted
her head, wondering who would be visiting her today. No one ever
opened HER door, for they feared her 'power'. She was known as
possibly the most dangerous of the children here. Her eyes,
bright green, was very potent and powerful. She had the ability
to glamor anyone who was unfortunate enough to gaze upon the
emerald orbs, rendering them incapable of their own thoughts and
actions. Also she is able to create worlds for the people; like
a powerful LSD trip. Spending years with limited chance to open
her eyes, had granted the girl more senses; she could hear a
wailing cry, which ultimately shook the building. Shrugging, the
Irish and Chilean girl turned her head back toward the ground as
if awaiting something; or simply not caring.

Crimson red eyes shot open in response to the sound of a latch
opening. At first, Ciaran didn't give the sound much thought,
but eventually he looked in the direction to find that his door
had been left slightly ajar. "Big mistake..." It took no time at
all for Ciaran to make his way to the door and push it open.
What he found on the other side was a somewhat amusing sight.!
There were no officials to be seen! The few children who were
awake when the doors opened were just coming out of their cells,
looking around with confusion on their faces. Helpless kids...
The children showed all sorts of emotions, from fear, to
excitement. Some were no doubt planning a full scale escape.
"Not a bad idea..." The 17 year old boy said. An escape would
probably be best. But it would be difficult to do alone. He
would need to construct a team to make his escape with. A group
of people that would aid his cause, and not slow him down. There
was no way he would be able to discern who would be useful
amongst this mass confusion... But how could he? OF COURSE!
There had to be an Administration Office with files on all the
children kept captive here. While other children went looking
for the Kitchen, Ciaran took off for that office. He expected to
find someone in the office, possibly hiding from the super
powered children. He prepared himself to cast one of his
illusions on him, but soon found that the office was empty.
He made his way to the computer and looked up the captives
files, organizing them by age and ability. No one under the age
of 14 would do. Too dependent. Also, people who's powers
attracted too much attention would be a hindrance. He only found
two or three acceptable companions. He had printed out their
pictures, and was about to leave the office, when he came across
something that stopped him in his tracks. This girl had the same
last name as him, the same birthday, and a similar power. "Shion
(Fill in the last name later)..." He clicked on the girls file,
and his blood red eyes filled with Rage at what he discovered!
She was his twin! 17 years in this God Forsaken place and he
never knew he had a sister! Let alone a twin!
Her file went on to say that she was unable to fully control her
"Glamor" Ability, and was forced to wear a blindfold nearly 80%
of the time. This only enhanced Ciaran's anger! he rushed from
the office and down to the main cooridor, completely forgetting
to grab the images he had printed out of him potential
companions. He had forgotten about assembling a team. He had
forgotten about escape! All he could remember, was his anger. He
would destroy this prison and those who ran it for what they did
to his sister. If they couldn't help her learn to control her
powers then they never should have detained her! First, he
needed to find her. He didn't need a picture. Her image was
already permanently etched into his mind. The first thing he
would do was check her cell. Cell C37. A painful cry shook the
building as he approached. Surely enough, chaos had ensued. They
would need to get together and get out soon. But when Ciaran
approached the door, he hesitated. What would he say? "Hi I'm
your twin brother from 1 floor up?" No... That wouldn't make
sense. What the hell? Without another moment's hesitation, he
pushed her door open. "Shion we have to go now!" Surely she
would wonder who he was, or possibly even think he was insane.
But they didn't have time to waste. There was no telling if, or
when the building would be locked down to keep detainees inside!

       Dead End...
The exit wasn't as easy to find as Calia had expected! She
figured that the exit would be on the bottom floor, but to her
surprise, there were a number of sub-levels that were
underground! There was nothing to indicate which floor was
actually ground level, or where the exit would be. Most likely
to prevent the detainees from escaping, should they ever get out
of their cells. More than likely each employee was required to
memorize the layout of the building, never once given a map.
This was troublesome. Calia didn't have time to wander every
floor looking for an exit. There was no telling just how long
this chaos would last. Surely enough someone would gain control
and lock everyone away again! But what could she do! There had
to be schematics to the building somewhere! The Executive Office
maybe? But that was several floors back up! Frustration played
on the girl's face as she headed back up the stairs, no longer
taking the time to avoid the other kids. She needed to move
fast. On her way up the stairs, she slid past an older boy with
Red eyes who was on his way down. She didn't make eye contact,
or even speak. Instead she rushed up to the Office, and
scrambled for the computer. Someone had been researching the
detainees... Could it have been the boy she passed? No time! She
quickly shook her thought and began searching for the building
layout. Who knew how much time she had left...

Shion heard the commotion outside of her door; no sirens or
alarms were heard though. No sounds of guards or overseers; just
the sounds of rushing, crying, or laughing children. The girl
stood to her feet, using her hands to feel along the padded wall
of her cell to get a closer listen to the commotion that
transpired outside of her door. She didn't know how to feel or
what to make of it. Was it a revolt? Did one of the children
take out all of the adults and allowed the others to run free?
Or was there something else; maybe something more sinister going
on. Shion didn't know and she couldn't see considering the
blindfold that masked her eyes from view. She couldn't take the
obstruction off because it was more mechanical; locked to her
head and unlocked via remote or a key. Clothed in what seemed
like shaggy prison clothes, which she assumed all of the
children wore, kept her warm in the sometimes unsavory room and
hall ways. She was a frail girl, barely one hundred pounds and
standing around five seven. Shion's head snapped to the sound of
the heavy steal swinging open; a slight rusty noise accompanying
it even over the sounds beyond the door. She didn't have the
time to question who was there, or retreat, for a voice rang out
to her. Who was this person and how did he know her name? At
least he was there to save her, right? But from what?!
Reluctantly, Shion made her way toward the voice, bare feet
shuffling against the matted floor; she didn't have time to grab
her flats apparently. "Who are you? What's happening?!" She
asked, as she moved closer to what memory serves as the exit.

Silent rage burned in Ciaran's eyes when he saw the contraption
that held his sister's eyes shut. He should have expected such a
thing, considering the power she wielded. Hell, it was a
surprise they hadn't done him the exact same way! but then, they
never knew the extent of his powers... He had made sure of that
from a young age. Before anything else, he would have to get
that thing off his sister's head. he took her by the hand, and
began leading her back up the stairs toward the executive
office. "My name is Ciaran..." He told her, choosing not to
share his last name with her. "It's some sort of mass prison
break. None of the adults are anywhere to be found, and all of
the kids are free. I don't know what happened but we're going to
get out of here before they lock us back up! But first we have
to get that thing off your head."
Once they arrived back in the Office, Ciaran was surprised to
find the girl from the stairs earlier burning through the files.
She seemed to be going through the building schematics. Most
likely looking for a way out. She was smart... "Wait right
here." He told Shion, after leading her through the door. "The
exit is on level G in the west wing." He told he girl, as he
began digging through the drawers for some sort of Master Key.
There wasn't one to be found. He didn't get a good look at her
face until he turned around and headed for the computer, hoping
to find a room where they kept the medicines and other supplies
for the various inmates. Her face was familiar... He quickly
went over to the printer, and looked through the files he had
printed out. "You!" she spoke aloud without thinking at first.
"Your name is Calia, right?" He presented the file to her,
wishing to confirm that she was who he believed her to be. But
he continued to scan the schematics as he did so. "My name is
Ciaran. I'm planning to get out of here, and I believe we could
help each other." Supply room and Storage- Level H. Perfect! But
there was one more thing to check.
There was a file cabinet in the corner of the room. Ciaran had a
suspicion that what he needed may have been in there. He opened
up each drawer and searched until he found the "Ks" and there
she was. Shion Kurogan. Her file was right next to his own, of
course. Her file was thick. Lots of papers on her abilities and
potential. Warnings about interacting with her, and sure enough,
in the bottom of her file, a small silver key. He tried to use
the key to remove Shion's blindfold, but to no avail. It
wouldn't fit. It must have been the key to her locker! He turned
to Calia and spoke up. "I was planning to assemble a small team
for our escape, but things have changed. I don't know if or when
the adults are coming back, but I don't want to assume we have a
lot of time. I'm going to floor H to get the key to Shion's
blindfold, and then we're leaving. If you think you may need
help, feel free to come along. If you think you can handle it,
then I wish you good luck. With that he took his sister's hand
once more and began on his way down the stairs.
