Re: Is There More to Life? - Role Play

I took a moment of pause to consider the extra ingredients,
spices and the like, required for my lasagna recipe. As I just
arrived at Bryant's I would not be able to cook homemade sauce.
Compromise for this dish would come in the use of jarred sauce.
"I found the sauce so there is no absolute requirement for us to
leave your humble abode. We will thaw the meat in water and have
the half hour to ourselves." I rummaged through the freezer to
find the beef I would need for my Italian master piece, placed
it in water to thaw and turned toward my boyfriend. "What to do
now...?"I inquired as I walked in the direction of his bedroom.
Bryant and I managed to spend the time reuniting as a couple.
Our visit during the break became cluttered with visits with
friends and minimal alone time. Now, with no interruptions, we
took full advantage of the time we had. Our reunion exceeded the
time required for the meat to thaw. "Hey hun. Mind cooking the
meat for me while I get the pan of lasagna started?" I rummaged
through his cabinets looking for all of the required utensils. I
found the largest pot I could and started boiling the lasagna
noodles while the meat cooked.

So this was what alone time felt like... Bryant had almost
forgotten, it had been so long. they would have to find more of
this! This was the young Pharm studen'ts initial thought, but of
course he knew that was unlikely. Once they returned to classes,
their schedules would return to their dreadfully redundant
pattens, and they would be lucky to have time together every
other weekend. "Are you spending the night, or heading back?"
Bryant asked, preparing to pull out a large T-Shirt for
Elizabeth, should she decide to stay.
Once they returned to the kitchen, Bryant laughed to himself as
he nodded his head in response to Liz's request. "No problem
babe." He said, as he made his way to the stove. He managed to
find a bell pepper, which he chopped up and added to the mean,
that he then seasoned with creole and black pepper before
browning. It was a simple task; So much so that he spent more
time observing Elizabeth's work than focusing on his own. The
meat would actually cook faster than the noodles would. This was
convenient. It gave Bryant time to drain the meat and add the
sauce. When Liz wasn't looking, he would add a bit of flour to
thicken the sauce. "Ready when you are." He said, as he hugged
the object of his affection from behind, planting a soft kiss on
the back of her neck. He would leave the rest to her, since this
was her project. He was having entirely too much fun watching
her, after all...

Elizabeth felt herself melting into Bryant's touch as he wrapped
his strong arms around her frame. Her every nerve always stood
on edge whenever they made contact. As the noodles cooked slower
than the meat, Liz had a couple more minutes to enjoy his gentle
touch. She leaned her head back on his shoulder. "You know. I've
been thinking. I would love to stay the night with you. We might
as well take advantage of every moment we have together." More
ideas comprised her thoughts but she decided it best to save
them for the morning. She turned her head to place a soft kiss
upon her man's neck. Liz knew more of these touches and caresses
would come later this evening. For now, just as she had for the
past couple weeks, she would wait.
Reluctantly, Elizabeth stepped from her boyfriend's embrace to
continue prepping their evening meal. The noodles were cooked
just the way she wanted. She moved across the kitchen to drain
the noodles with a little sway in her hips. Once that was
accomplished, she brought the ingredients to a single area of
counter top. Cooking brought Liz joy and such happiness was
reflected in maneuvers about the kitchen. Light on her toes she
was until she got down to business preparing the lasagna for the
oven. She lined the lasagna pan with sauce before layering the
noodles, meat, and cheese in alternating layers. With one last
move, Liz placed the lasagna in the preheated oven. "Now all we
need to do is wait. I hope you aren't getting too hungry." She
winked as she leaned against the kitchen counter, resting, with
her thumbs inside her pockets. A smile tugged at her lips as she
gazed at Bryant.
(I hope you do not mind me switching to third person point of
view)

Bryant never saw himself as the chauvinistic type, but he had to
admit, there was something about watching his woman work her way
around the kitchen that he enjoyed. "I'm glad to hear it." He
said, a hint of relief in his voice, though the source would go
unspoken. "The night is yours. Anything you want." In the back
of his mind, he couldn't help but think about the work that he
needed to do before classes started. But he never let that reach
his lips either. He took a seat at the table and simply watched
as Elizabeth took command of the rest of the meal, and once she
put the completed dish into the oven, he nodded his head. "I
think I can survive until then. So what do you want to do while
it cooks?" Bryant asked. He wanted to give Elizabeth the perfect
night, for it would be a while before he could do it again. But
his pattern had gotten to be so much the norm, that spontaneity
had escaped him! He may not have realized it, but it had been so
long since he had really had fun, that he had no idea where to
start!
(not at all.)

Despite being simple in nature, Bryant's question had an air of
complication to it. Liz had not planned anything in particular
to do with him. Her life had become extremely monotonous to the
point where anything other than structure and planning through
her for a loop. Her thoughts centered on how she wanted to spend
more time with Bryant when the semester became in full swing.
However, Liz felt such a conversation would be better suited for
another time. Instead, she attempted to think about things for
her and Bryant to do. "We could start a movie marathon", Liz
suggested though sounding slightly disappointed in herself. Had
she become so out of touch with her social life that she
couldn't think of something to do with her boyfriend. She knew
about the fun that would come after dinner but wanted to save
for then. Now, thought, Elizabeth was at a complete loss of
ideas.

The lasagna would have to bake for at least an hour to get that
deep flavor to it... A movie made sense! "Sounds good." Said
Bryant with a smile. He took Liz by her hand, and lead her back
into his room, where his laptop sat in the corner. "I've been
using my dad's Netflix." He said. "So we have a pretty much
endless supply of movies." He pulled up the page, and took a
seat on his bed, offering her a spot right next to him. "How
about we start with a Comedy?" His suggestion was just that; a
suggestion. He felt no need to watch something funny, it just
happened to be the first available section. He grabbed a
blanket, and wrapped it around the two of them before scrolling
through the list of available movies.

Ease and comfort settled over Liz as Bryant agreed to her
suggestion. To her, it wasn't about spending every moment out on
the town, but rather enjoying all the time they spent together.
She followed Bryant into his room taking her rightful spot next
to him and beneath the coziness of a blanket. "Lucky you! All
the movies you could possibly want for free." Liz chuckled. Most
of her friends invested in the $8 a month as they enjoyed the
selection on Netflix over basic cable. She never bothered to
sign up for the popular site as most of the money spent would be
a waste due to her heavy workload. "A comedy sounds great! Help
to lighten up the mood and distract us from any serious
thoughts." She emphasized the word serious as she, and more than
likely Bryant as well, had thoughts regarding the upcoming
semester. Liz wanted to live in the moment. "I wonder if they
have We're the Millers. I heard it was suppose to be good!" She
leaned her head on Bryant's shoulder watching the movies scroll
by on the screen.

Lucky him? No, not really... "It's really all I had to pass the
time while you were gone." He admitted. And starting tomorrow, I
won't have any time for it anyway, so I guess it was just a
temporary crutch." He scrolled through the movies until Liz made
her suggestion. "We're the Millers..." He repeated, as he typed
it into the search menu. Surely enough, the movie came right up.
A single click, and it was beginning. After finding a
comfortable spot with his arms around his one and only, Bryant
was focused on only two things; The movie, and the most perfect
woman he could ever find. It really doesn't get much better than
that...

One topic caused Elizabeth to bite her tongue to the near point
of bleeding. She didn't want to spend 95% of her time away from
Bryant this past vacation. Between work and family affairs her
time was severely limited. Much like the rest of the
year..."This is honestly the best evening I could have imagined
and it's just begun." Liz rested herself against Bryant's chest,
watching as the first scene of the movie commenced. "It would be
amazing if we could have more nights like this." He thoughts
traveled to the one topic she wanted to discuss with her man
earlier the evening. Now may be the best chance she had all
night. "Listen, I was thinking, perhaps we can spend more time
together this semester. I know we both have insane schedules but
we both need breaks, right? Even schedule it in." She chuckled
slightly at the thought of scheduling time in for a relationship
but knew it may need to happen. "What do you think?" She
inquired hoping he would be open to the idea. Liz enjoyed
spending this free time with Bryant and didn't want it to end.

Bryant found it hard to focus on the movie. There were too many
other things on his mind. Elizabeth, School... This was Junior
year. Not too much longer, and he would be graduating. If the
two thought they didn't have enough time together now, what
would they do when they didn't even live in the same city, or
possibly the same State anymore? The sudden wave of thoughts
caused him to nearly miss Elizabeth's statement. It was true.
Another semester like the last one could possibly kill him. "How
about we try to schedule in a date night every week. "That
shouldn't be too hard, right?" If they could hang out just once
a week, it would help them keep the stress down for the week to
come. More thoughts. But also, relief. Enough so that he could
at least halfway focus on the movie.
